"How many people can say they’ve savored a steaming bowl of tom yum while contemplating a mural of Godzilla shooting laser beams out of its mouth at a flying tuk-tuk rickshaw and a cluster of floating durian fruit? We can all think of a few restaurants that take themselves too seriously, but not so with Must Be Thai. From a projector playing Bruce Lee movies and the Thai version of Superman to the Lego check and tip tray, this restaurant glories in its funky weirdness. So load up on pad thai, curry, and roasted duck and soak in the atmosphere." - Johanna Harlow

When we came on Saturday lunch time , it was fully house and we even had to wait for a table. I was looking forward to it because I saw so many people waiting. But to be honest, I'm a little disappointed. The food was too salty, and because it was too salty, I cannot tell the food is delicious. Thai restaurants are everywhere, and it’s almost impossible to eat bad Thai food ! Papaya salad : $14.19 A little bit sour and fish sauce too heavy Pad see you w / beef : average $19.75 Crispy calamari: great , light crispy $ 15.55 Pork belly : $26 but too salty Service is friendly !

This has become my second favorite Thai restaurant in San Jose! Even though the joint is smaller than expected, the food is incredibly fresh and bursting with flavor. Every dish I tried had the perfect balance of savory, sweet, tangy, and/or spicy—everything you would expect from authentic Thai cuisine, beautifully blended. Dishes to try: Papaya salad, Pad Thai or Pad See Ew, Panang Curry, and Roast Duck. Will not disappoint.

Small and clean restaurant in a strip mall. Crowded place for lunch on a Saturday. My group of six was fortunate to grab the last big table at our time of visit. When we left, there were folks waiting in line already. Some dishes I loved; others I found average. The calamari was fried perfectly and wasn’t chewy. The duck was ok. Pad kee Mao noodles was delicious. The pork belly in two dishes was on the dry side for me. I loved the sticky rice with taro dessert. My ginger drink (ginger and honey) was a delicious blend! Staff were super friendly and fast. Clean restroom. Lots of parking in the complex.

We came for a very early dinner around 4:30pm and it's a nice surprise they are open (many Asian restaurants close between lunch & dinner). It's a cute little place. Clean with nice decor. Service is good. They have happy hour during the week with 50% off beer. Their menu is kinda hard to read. The food is categorized by regions. If you want to get a pork dish, you'll have to read thru the whole menu and pork dishes are buried in multiple regions. Wish they'll consider categorizing the menu like other places by noodles, rice, chicken, pork, beef, seafood ... etc. It'll be a lot easier and faster for people (not familiar with what regional Thai food is) to read thru the menu.

Must Be Thai is a decent spot, but it seems to have lost its charm over time. We asked for spicy drunken noodles but ended up with a bland and overly greasy dish. The Tom Yum soup was okay but felt too heavy on the coconut for our liking. Overall, the flavors were underwhelming, and the experience was just average.

Order: Pad Thai (shrimp and no egg), Green Curry (beef), Luke Chin Toddd (beef), Tom Kha, Thai Tea and Mango Draft Beer. The tamarind sauce served as base to the beef meatballs was a sticky delight. Green Curry was my personal favorite (spicy as I like it) and Pad Thai was regular. Mango Draft Beer tasted fresh just like out of the cask. Thai Tea tasted thick, sweet and rich.

Rating: 4/5 Delicious Food with Excellent Service Must be thai is a great spot to enjoy authentic food. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which added to the overall experience. One of the highlights was how efficiently they managed reservations—we were seated within 5 minutes of arriving, which deserves major kudos! The food was absolutely delicious, with every dish full of flavor and prepared to perfection. If you’re looking for a place with great food and top-notch service, The restaurant is definitely worth visiting.

Google
Must Be Thai offers a decent dining experience, but there are some clear areas for improvement. Here’s a detailed breakdown: Pad Thai: The Pad Thai was underwhelming. It lacked the bold flavors and balance that make this dish a favorite in Thai cuisine, leaving it feeling flat and unremarkable. Panang Curry: The Panang Curry was a bright spot. It had a rich, creamy flavor and paired well with rice, making it one of the more enjoyable dishes on the menu. Pricing and Portions: The pricing is a major downside. The portions are surprisingly small for the steep prices, making it hard to justify the cost, even for the better dishes. Service: The service was average at best. While the staff were polite, the wait time after placing the order was noticeably long, which detracted from the overall experience. Ambience: The ambience is a highlight of the restaurant. It’s modern, clean, and inviting, creating a pleasant atmosphere for dining. Overall, Must Be Thai delivers on certain flavors, like the Panang Curry, but misses the mark with its Pad Thai, pricing, and service efficiency. While the ambience is lovely, the value for money needs significant improvement.

Yelp
Food was great service was great despite some take backs, I wish that the staff is provided with more training regarding allergies and the menu and that the restaurant was more accommodating / communicative on what is being ordered potentially having allergies that were already pre discussed with staff.. ie if a table says hey I'm allergic to coconut let the kitchen know so that they can communicate this sauce that doesn't say on the menu has coconut (something) to make it creamer instead of guessing (wrong) and coming back panicked later.

Yelp
The food is really good and I just wish the portion can be bigger and some dishes can be more spicy!! Overall I really like it!

Yelp
My fiance and I have been here a handful of times and we always have an amazing experience. We came around 4:40 on a Saturday because this place gets busy fast. The restaurant was at about half capacity when we arrived. By the time we finished dinner at 5:20, the restaurant was full!! This place is on the smaller side, and there are only 10 tables in the restaurant. This place is perfect for a date night, dinner with friends, or just a casual dinner. Today, we ordered the Khao Mu Daeng (my personal favorite), Panaeng Curry with Chicken, and the Pad See You with prawns. We also ordered two hot jasmine teas. The Khao Mu Daeng comes with a sweet roasted pork, crispy pork belly, rice, a perfectly cooked hard boiled egg, green onion and a sweet, slightly spicy sauce. This dish never disappoints!! The panaeng curry was delicious, as always, but a tad bit spicier than usual. It tastes like a classic panaeng curry. The pad see you is a must have. The Chinese broccoli added a nice crunch to the dish and the prawns were cooked perfectly! The service is always quick and friendly. I would definitely recommend coming here because they have a variety of dishes that I don't usually see at other Thai places.

Shraddha P.

Yelp
The menu here has a variety , some dishes never heard before. Tried their tom yum shrimp rice- loved it . Tangy yet spicy. Also tried their green curry. Lots of veggies. Can add more curry to it i felt. Service is quick. Small restaurant so might get busy . Outside the mall so no hassle of mall parking.

Yelp
I hate to leave this review, especially since I didn't get the opportunity to eat here but I thought it would be necessary to make a comment regarding the customer service. My father and I were craving Thai food for dinner and I saw this place in my recommended so I decided to give it a try. However, it's a small restaurant and we arrived less than an hour before closing so there was a wait. We put ourselves on the yelp waitlist and they sent us a text saying our table is ready. 1) When we came back to the restaurant, it turns out our table wasn't ready. They were waiting for the previous customer to leave. That was a red flag for us because it was very misleading as we were expecting to be seated 2) We sat down for about 10 minutes, nobody offered us water or asked if we were ready to order. This was really disappointing because I don't have dinner with my dad a lot and I we were both excited to see how good this restaurant was. I will not be going back unfortunately.

Yelp
I think the food is a bit on the greasy side, that's probably why it is so good! The food all have sharp taste. We also ordered Andaman on fire (not pictured). Service is quite fast and friendly, waitress was attentive. She came checking on us a few times to refill our water. At 2:30om the place was a bit more quiet. I came here at 11:15 before and at 11:30ish there was lines forming. Don't mind coming here again.

Divya K.

Yelp
This place is not like your traditional Thai restaurant. I really liked the menu options. There is a yelp waitlist that you can join virtually ahead of time. Coming to the ambience, the restaurant itself is small but cozy. We had the Tom yum soup, hot mama and a pork starter. All were really good. The dessert was really good too. Overall a nice dining experience!

Jacob R.

Yelp
(3.5 out of 5) Ill start with the positives. The Tom yum rice, and the Panang curry were both so good! Really expensive. But still. The Tom yum rice is really worth the price. We also had Tom kha. Just didn't take a picture. Very good as well. Not the best but it was good 4/5. Now the southern pad Thai. The most dry food I've ever had. After a minute already was tuff to chew. It was terrible. I sent it back. I'll never be eating noodle dishes from this place again, then after that. The waiter had the audacity to disrespect me. Now we are on to service. Terrible! She was rude and insult me. I don't want to get into this anymore on the review, if the buisness would like to message me I'll share more info. Also another waiter tried taking food as if we were done without asking when we weren't finished yet. Ambiance was good. Come and try the Tom yum rice, and Panang curry. And when you do tell them Rothyy sent you!

Yelp
This is one of the best Thai places in the bay area. They have a large selection to choose from and the food is always high quality and delicious. The service is always quick and friendly. It does get really crowded and busy due to the popularity so I recommend trying to get here as soon as possible.

Chandrika B.

Yelp
Lots of parking right outside and they do have a yelp "join a waitlist" for parties of 6 that u can avail if u are in the area. I did call the restaurant ahead of time to request for a table for 10 but they dont accept reservations so getting there at 11am (opening time) was our best shot. Its a fairly small restaurant so now i understand why they wouldnt want to take up reservations for more than 6 at a time. The line gets long after 11.45 so plan your visit accordingly. The menu is not very big and food is on the spicier side so if you are someone who likes medium spicy or not good then do call it out upfront with your server and mention "mild/ no chilli". In $300 (group of 10), we got: - papaya salad - 3/5 fishy smell and even mild was really spicy with green thai chillies in it. It has tiny shrimp in it and sadly they didnt have a "vegeterian papaya salad" which is not fair. I wish they introduce that to their menu too. - thai iced tea - 5/5 looked really orange but it wasnt overly sweet. It paired perfectly with the drunken noodles and curry/rice - penang curry 5/5 - we ordered "mild" and it was medium and i loved it. Im indian asian so i can go up higher on spicy and will try medium next time. We tried both tofu/veg and chicken and both were good. You have to order rice separately. Must try!! - drunken noodles 5/5 - we ordered both tofu/veg and chicken and both were really good. Perfect texture and bite. Good quality ingredients indeed. Veg Recommended!! - pork dish - 0/5 - soggy and not too flavorful. Also had big spicy green peppercorn strands. Wouldnt recommend. - beef pad thai noodles 5/5 - people loved it as it wasnt spicy (infact it was slightly sweet) and it was not dry. Slurpy noodles are the best :) - tom yum rice with seafood 5/5 - comes with prawn and calamari and really flavorful. Definitely order it!! - chicken larb - 4/5 flavorful and light Regular portion sizes. Not too big just fyi. Definitely coming back for penang, tom yum rice and veggie drunken noodles :)

Yelp
Must be Thai is a pretty solid Thai Restaurant in the South Bay. Depending on the day and time you go, it may be a bit of a wait. My friends and I came during a weekday, a bit after lunch time so it wasn't really busy. We were seated right away. However, we did feel the pressure and a bit rushed in knowing what to order because our server came up to our table about 2-3 times asking if we were ready to order. It was a couple of my friend's first time, so it would've been nice to not feel so rushed in looking over the menu. Each of us ordered an entree each and ordered a plate of calamari and veggie pastries to share. The food came out pretty quick after we ordered. Everything we ordered was good. I originally wanted to try the Boat Noodles because I don't know of any Thai restaurants in the area that serve it, but when I asked about it, they don't have that item on the menu anymore because not a lot of people ordered it. Definitely recommend Must be Thai!

Tejaswini L.

Yelp
Cute place. There was about a 15 minute wait for dinner on a Thanksgiving weekend. The place was busy but the service was quick. Soup, Curry with Rice and Veggie pastry was good.

Haleh H.

Yelp
It's not a solid 4 but it's better than 3... Overall we had a good experience and will be back to try more dishes. Service: this place was packed but service is pretty good and food comes out fast. Ambience: it's a medium size nice place. Food: overall we were happy with dishes! We will be back to try more items. I was a bit disappointed they don't have yellow curry. - Tom YUM w/shrimp: enjoyed this soup a lot. It had good flavor and good portion ingredients. - Summer roll: pretty standard. Good portion, and peanut butter sauce was very rich & nice. - Pad See You w/pork: It was very oily. The noddles on their own didn't have much flavor but the pork was very flavorful & crispy edges while still soft. - Panaeng Curry w/chicken: It's definitely spicy! It has good flavor & decent ingredients.

Claire G.

Yelp
Love this place, especially when we don't have to wait for long. Tip: add yourself to the waitlist. Service is quick and the food is delicious. Our fave is the pixel wings, pork pad see you and pad grr pow!

Nhung D.

Yelp
Decent Thai spot. Flavors are there but nothing crazy. Would not wait in line for this.

Kymberly I.

Yelp
Food 5/5 Service 2/5 Location: The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. You might have to wait a little but you are able to sign up on the waitlist via Yelp ahead of time. Food: The food here was really good! All the dishes were very flavorful and cooked to perfection. I feel that most Thai places put more sauce then food, however, I felt that the food here was not overly drenched with sauce. I also think their portion size is pretty big for the price. You can definitely get two meals out of one entrée. I got the panaeng curry and I really enjoyed it. They do not let you adjust the spicy levels though. Service: The service my group received here was not the best. From the moment we arrived to us leaving the workers were very rude to us. I think my breaking point is when we were still eating and the worker had put down the check and told us to take our time. Then came back a couple minutes later asking us who was taking care of the bill, while we were still eating. I can understand the sense of urgency, however, I thought it was a little rude. Overall, I would come back because the food was really good and hope that the service was just a one off thing.

Tia V.

Yelp
Came here for the first time while in the area. So glad we did. They have a variety of menu items and everything sounds so good. We ordered a variety of items to try and everything was delicious. Prices are reasonable, especially for the area. They have a smaller interior but luckily we sat outside being we had our dog with us. The wait staff is attentive and food comes out quickly. The flavors were fresh and blended nicely. The Tom kha soup was my favorite! I could have eaten two bowls of it! We plan to come back here for sure.

Justin S.

Yelp
For a casual Thai dining experience, we went to Must Be Thai and it looks like they renovated the place! Seating felt a bit packed but that's a good thing for the business! We ordered the Pad Thai, Khao Mu Daeng, Mission Impossible Noodle, and Pad Grrr Pow! I ate the majority of the pad Thai and I thought they were generous with the amount of chicken and noodles that came with the platter. My friends ordered the Khao Mu Daeng and Pad Grr Pow. Both dishes were good, we wanted more spice on the Pad Grrr Pow which warrants the 4/5 rating. The dish reminded us a lot of basil chicken. And the Khao Mu Daeng is a simpler dish of pork over rice which was enjoyable but not my favorite. What we really enjoyed as a table was the Mission Impossible Noodle! The presentation was fun and the noodles crispy! Since I had a lot of sweet with the Pad Thai, the noodles were a nice change of pace for a savory dish. I would order this again for sure. Overall I would give this place a 4.2/5 I don't really eat Thai that much but this place hit the spot.

Kayley C.

Yelp
This place is so good! The reviews and wait time speak for themselves. We were really excited to try this place and were thrilled by everything we ordered. It's a cute ambient restaurant with great service and delicious food.

Jackie N.

Yelp
Must be Thai, a MUST try! Absolutely love how the menu shows where each Thai dish originated from. All the dishes are fantastic. I also highly recommend the Tom yum fried rice if you like seafood. Only downside I would say is that they don't always have the mango sticky rice dessert available all the time.

Lynnette N.

Yelp
Joined the waitlist at 6pm on a Friday night and was seated about an 1/2 hour later for a party of 2. Thai tea - 2/5: way too sweet, strong vanilla flavors, also overpriced at $7, didn't finish Tom Kha - 5/5: flavorful, plentiful and lots of chicken Chicken Pad Thai Hot - 3/5: hot is their spiciest but it wasn't spicy, also more sweet than sour but noodles were good and there was alot of chicken Chicken Panang Curry Hot - 4/5: really good, not much vegetables, have to order ride on the side

Henry T.

Yelp
It was super busy here on a wednesday night so we knew this place was really good. We got a fried calamari and it was exceptional. It was crispy and light with a nice dipping sauce. I also got the pad thai and it had all the flavors. Sour, sweet, savory and heat! The lime was a nice touch too. It was really busy so they sat us next to another party however it was a bit hard to wave someone down and we didn't get our waters refilled. Overall, food was great!

Brooke A.

Yelp
Must be Thai is located just off of Stevens Creek Blvd and is an excellent dining option if you want to be near but not in Valley Fair Mall. I went on a Sunday evening with a group of 7, so it was quite busy and took a while to get our table. However, you are able to join the waitlist online, which I would absolutely recommend. The menu is pretty typical of a thai restaurant, but something I appreciated was that they categorized the menu options by the regions of Thailand in which these dishes originated. I deviated from my normal order of pad thai to get the fried rice instead. I was very happy with this order, and while the portions were not as huge as the usual casual thai restaurant, but it was still filling - just left less for leftovers. I believe Must be Thai makes an attempt to be a bit more upscale than your average thai restaurant, and although it definitely comes across as such, I believe this is in the presentation and vibe of the restaurant moreso than the quality of the food.

Anna M.

Yelp
Came in on a Thursday night and waited around 15 minutes for a table- the place was busy! The waiter was great, took our order immediately and the food came out soon after. The pad Thai is some of the best in the area, but unfortunately it's very expensive! Looking forward to trying more items on the menu since everything so far has been great. Just may have to wait until payday!

Melissa L.

Yelp
This place is my favorite Thai restaurant in all of the Bay Area. I have been to multiple Thai restaurants in San Francisco, Redwood City, Union City, South San Francisco, San Jose, Fremont, and many more and this place is still #1 for me! I've tried their Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mow, Pad See Ew, Tom Kha soup, Tom Yum soup, fried rice, Tom Yum fried rice, fried chicken, poached chicken, and many more dishes and none have disappointed except the poached chicken (but I've never liked poached anything anyway so I don't blame them). I do wish their plates were bigger, especially for the Tom Yum and Tom Kha soups. They only offer single portions, unlike most Thai places that offer family style sharing portions. I hope one day they add this to their menu as ordering (2-4) single portions of soup quickly adds up :( The service is quickly and friendly and the ambiance is relaxing and chic. A great place to take a date, especially since it's so close to Santana Row! I always take my out of town friends and family here! Even now that I live on the peninsula, I still get take out food from here sometimes!

Alyssa C.

Yelp
Solid Thai food! Pretty big variety and the expected flavor palettes Service is good but could be better -- it's not a large place and the staff walk by but don't always come by your table. They're easy enough to flag down though! Be prepared for a wait -- join on Yelp beforehand or stand outside to wait :) Most of the tables are meant to seat 4 or fewer (not an ideal spot for larger groups). Good for families or friends :)

Shilah A.

Yelp
Cute Thai spot near Valley Fair. Loved the decor and ambiance of this place, although I can imagine it might get busy since it is a little small. Ordered the calamari, pad kee mao, and Tom yum soup, which I loved! The calamari was crispy and fresh itself, but the sauce it came was did taste a bit diluted for my liking. I did enjoy the pad kee mao, but they didn't ask for the spice level and it did come out pretty spicy! More so than any others I've tried. The Tom yum was the perfect amount of sweet and sour. The luke chin todd was very savory and the sauce added some sweetness to it. You can get a mix of the protein for this, but I preferred the fish balls.

Tina A.

Yelp
Must Be Thai was buzzing when we stopped by for Sunday lunch. They are fairly quick to turn over tables so it didn't take too long for us to be seated. We started off with the Luke Chin TODDD which are fish meatballs glazed with a sweet and tangy tamarind sauce and topped with cilantro and chili. It was beautifully presented & not overly fishy! The Chicken Pad Thai we ordered was very flavorful with the rice noodles cooked to perfection while hitting all the right notes of sweet & savory. The Green Chicken Curry was creamy and rich & the combination of Thai eggplant & green beans worked very well together. Highly recommend for anyone craving traditional and modern Thai cuisine.

Ziad A.

Yelp
Came here for a work lunch, somebody suggested it. I havent had thai in a long time . This place is nice and small so come early before it fills up. The food is exactly as the menu states. The online menu helps so much since without thai food experience i could not figure out what the physical menu was describing. The rice tasted as described and the noodles were good for thai food standards. No halal meat options so i had prawns and calamari which was good. The staff was very nice and quick to assist. The lemonade had a very nice look to it, like an exotic drink. Overall pretty good for thai

Jessica K.

Yelp
One of my staples in the area, and one of my family's favorite all-time restaurants! We've been here several times, and they've been consistent with their quality and taste. Compared to other Thai places in the area, it is a bit pricier, but the quality of the food far surpasses. We haven't gotten a single dish that we didn't like! Located in a small plaza across Valleyfair with plenty of parking. I recommend checking Yelp waitlist to check the wait time, since you can add yourself to the list before you arrive. Wait can be over an hour during lunch/dinner rush on weekends. Consistently friendly service and small cozy interior. They also have limited outdoor dining areas right outside the restaurant door. Fam favorite tom yum fried rice: comes with plenty of seafood including tender pieces of squid, so flavorful, not very spicy. Portions are just right. Highly highly recommend! Pad Kee Mao is a great classic, the noodles are not pasty or dry at all (I've had plenty of very dry noodles at Thai places). Lots of veggies in the dish and plenty of your protein choice! I've also had the Penang curry, pad see ew, sriracha noodles (decently spicy) etc... like mentioned before, you really can't go wrong.

Haiyang H.

Yelp
Had some friends visiting out of town. We went with this super popular place. This restaurant sits at a far end of Westfield mall. Plenty of parking around. This place is super busy. We waited a bit for our seats and glad that we waited. I got a glass of Prosecco. It was nice. We started with papaya salad with dry shrimps, chicken wings, some pork belly with eggplants street food, and a pad thai. I love the papaya salad. Fresh with a lot of ingredients. Appreciate the bites from the dry shrimps. I absolutely loved the chicken wings. Wow. Loads of flavor. Perfect textures. Total love. I had high hope for the Thai street food. But the flavor is not as full as I hoped for from street food. It was yummy but not has that full body of flavor. Pad Thai was nice. They really can deliver. Service was fast and friendly despite how busy they were. I don't know how they can do it to be honest. I would like to come back again.

Jeff M.

Yelp
Really solid Thai food. There's not much else to say about Must Be Thai. My partner and I split the Tom Kha, Larb, and Pad Kee Mao. The portions are a bit small so I think we could have ordered another dish if we wanted to feel more full. The Tom Kha was really well balanced between spicy, sour, and creamy. It's everything that you can ask for in this dish. The Larb was good but a tad bit too sour. I think it could have been better with less lime juice. Must Be Thai only provides three pieces of lettuce to eat with it which is not nearly enough! The Pad Kee Mao was prepared excellently. The noodles had a good amount of chew. The dish was spicy enough to for a good kick but not so much where you'll want to down glass after glass of water. This restaurant gets really busy even on a weeknight, so o recommend arriving early. We got seated fairly quickly on a Friday night because we didn't mind seating outside at around 530PM, but other parties waited quite awhile. Would visit again.

Tracy D.

Yelp
Came for dinner. Joined the waitlist ahead of time and probably waited about 20 mins when arrived. Seating on sidewalk and inside. We had southern pad Thai, shrimp spring rolls, chicken yellow curry, and fried chicken. Everything tasted really good. Service was quick and friendly.

Jana S.

Yelp
Probably the best Thai food I've had outside of Thailand with spot-on flavors that are the real deal. The menu is unique in that it's organized by regions of Thailand, which goes to show how authentic it is. The space isn't huge and they don't take reservations so it's recommended to show up early. We had a larger group and even on a Tuesday it was pretty busy but we only had to wait about 20 minutes. Service was friendly and reasonably quick considering the high quality of the food. I would absolutely come back here in a heartbeat.

Jessica R.

Yelp
My family decided to try this restaurant on a Wednesday night and we could not believe how busy it was! We finally got a table and the food came out fast and it was very delicious, service was great and courteous. Everything was wonderful. Would definitely recommend! Panang curry - good but spicy! Green curry (since we wanted a mild curry and they don't have yellow) - panang was better and equally spicy Pad Thai with shrimp - good Tom kha soup with chicken - very very good Also they ran out of rice and asked if we wanted to try a different rice which was blue! lol it tasted the same though

Cindy K.

Yelp
More like a 3.5? There were so many reviews I wanted to check it out while I was in the area. My party got the Calamari, Khao Soi, Panaeng Curry, and the Pad Kee Mao. We all thought the curry was the best! Everything else felt average for the price point. The portions are probably better for a family-style dinner rather than own entrees.

Angelica S.

Yelp
I don't know what they put in their dishes but HOLY CURRY their food is soooooo delicious! Every time I bring a new person that's never been here, it immediately becomes their nee fave Thai spot. Service is great and the price is reasonable because of the amount and quality of food. Give it a try and you won't regret it!

Sagar S.

Yelp
The Best Thai Restaurant in Town If you're on the hunt for authentic Thai cuisine, look no further than this gem of a restaurant. Known for its exceptional food, particularly the curries, this place serves some of the most flavorful Thai dishes in the area. The Panang curry stands out as a must-try, with its rich and aromatic flavors that leave a lasting impression. And don't miss out on the sweet mango sticky rice--a perfect way to end your meal. The restaurant's popularity speaks for itself, and there is often a long wait. However, you can easily plan ahead by joining the waitlist on Yelp, ensuring that your dining experience is smooth and enjoyable. Just remember to have your entire party present when you arrive. Despite the bustling atmosphere, the service is always efficient and well-organized, making sure that even during peak times, you're taken care of promptly. The menu offers a diverse selection of dishes, featuring flavors from different regions of Thailand, including specialties from Seoul, Lanna, and Bangkok. To round off your visit, consider taking a leisurely stroll to nearby Santana Row or exploring the Westfield Mall, both of which offer a great way to spend some time before or after your meal.

Yelp
The best tai food in town. I love their pad tai and my husband loves the pad see ewe. We order it all the time on door dash and they make it super quick.

Yelp
My parents and I decided to meet for dinner tonight and my dad opted for Thai. We've never been to Must be Thai before but my Yelp alumni have rated it pretty high so we decided to check it out. Located in an unassuming strip mall off Steven's Creek with plenty of parking and between BevMo and Tony and Albas. We arrived just after opening and the place was already packed. It's small inside but they're able to seat quite a few guests inside and have a few tables outside too. I put our name on the waitlist and in less than 10 minutes we were shown to our table. Service was great and quick!! The time that we were there (maybe an hour), the entire restaurant turned over at least once. No joke! The staff knows how to get folks in and out at lightening speed yet we never felt rushed. Our dishes came family style so we could share. Here's what we ordered: SUMMER ROLL w/TOFU - these were my least favorite but not bad. The peanut sauce was super yum but the roll itself was nothing special. GREEN CURRY (CHICKEN) - Really flavorful and spicy. The chicken was good. Just a tad too spicy for my mom. HANG LEH CURRY (PORK) - my favorite of the night. The sauce was so flavorful and the pork was melt in your mouth tender. It said "spicy" but my mom agreed it wasn't too bad at all. CHICKEN PAD THAI (CHICKEN) - Another winner. Loved it and the fresh squeeze of lime was perfect. JASMINE RICE - perfectly cooked and soaked up all the yummy sauces from all the dishes! For dessert we had: MANGO STICKY RICE - This came with purple rice which was fun and the mango was perfectly ripe. My parents loved it! THAI SCREAM - yes please!!! These were very much like a crispy funnel cake served with vanilla ice cream topped with toasted coconut. Um ... I'd like 10 more of these please. Super yummy. I'd highly recommend giving "Must be Thai" a try. Check out their wait list on Yelp just incase it's busy. We'll be back!

Yelp
food was great!! i've never been to a thai place that had a huge wait before so I had high expectations. I definitely was not let down!! the pad see ew was so good. the noodles were fresh and chewy. you can also alter the spice level even though the menu says it's not a spicy dish! i asked for it to be extra spicy and it was so good. I got it with chicken as well and they give you a very generous amount of meat. the service was good as well and i would definitely be back if i was in the area!! parking: there is a large parking lot in front

Yelp
I ordered the pad see ew with chicken via Uber Eats and it was delicious. Very flavorful, but also very greasy. The chicken was cooked perfectly and it was almost shredded which was very easy to eat. It was yummy as take out. I can only imagine how good it will be taste fresh in the restaurant. Will definitely visit again.

Yelp
We are frequent flyers at Must Be Thai - my favorite Thai spot in south bay/peninsula. There's nothing better for takeout for weeknight dinners - easily where we get takeout from the most. Servers are always friendly and attentive when we dine in. It can get crowded at dinner, so definitely get your name on the waitlist ahead of time. Our favorites are the pad see ew, papaya salad, curries and fried rice. Always a great pick-me-up when we bring home MBT :)

Yelp
Pad Thai: 4.5/5 Really good portions. The food was delicious. I just wish it had more bean sprouts. Tom yum fried rice: 5/5 Not that sour with a hint of sweet. The prawns were perfect. The place left absolutely no shell on the entire shrimp and just the tail. They also de-vein the all their shrimp. I normally don't like squid but this place cooked it to where it was not tough and chewy. The service was really good. The waiter saw that our drink did not look right and immediately replaced it. We did not notice but saw that there were tea bits in the drink still. We did not mind the tea bits. The place is really small but outdoor seating is offered. While it is still summer, the outdoor seating felt nice. There is plenty of parking and I suggest using yelp check in before arriving.

Yelp
Visited this place on Saturday evening. The restaurant offers an inviting ambiance with warm lighting, traditional Thai decor and soft background music that immediately sets a relaxing tone I ordered Hat Yai fried chicken legendary and veg chives for starter. For main course I ordered Panang curry, green curry, jasmine rice and fried rice. These items did not disappoint me. The only issue with this restaurant, it took 90 mins for us to be seated. I did not like their way of table allocation. If you are in hurry, this place might not be a good option Overall, after we sat inside the service was impeccable and food was tasty.

Yelp
This place is good. Lots of parking and they have outdoor tables for dining. The green curry was okay, it wasn't the kind of green curry I'm used to. Maybe it's from a different side of Thailand kind of cooking. Even the tom yum was a little sweet which was strange to me, but still tasted good. The pad see you was awesome and I would come back for this noodles!

Yelp
The food was good, these 2 stars is only for the chefs. But I was disappointed in their service. We joined the wait list and once we received the "your table is ready" message we came inside, and the table wasn't ready yet. We had to wait for the other people to leave and then wait for waiters to clean and prepare the table for us. Once we ordered the food we were waiting for about an hour. People who ordered after us, they already received their food, ate and left. And we still didn't get our food, had to ask the waiter where is the food. We finally got our food but there were at least 4 other groups who ordered after us and already left. We were craving for Thai food, but by the time we got our food we were not feeling it anymore. Not gonna come back to this place, it's not a good way to treat paying customers.

Yelp
This is a popping dinner spot, located just across the Westfield and Santa Ana malls. There was quite a line, but thankfully it moved quick! The pad see you was amazing as always! The pad Thai has a nice sweet and sour kick to it. The khao soi was surprisingly very savory and tasted like peanut sauce! My absolute favorite was the tom yum, which had a surprising light and refreshing texture, which a very pleasant balance of tart and depth. I will definitely be coming back just for the Tom yum!

Yelp
(SJ) Food: Chicken pad Thai (8/10): very creamy somewhat oily. Definitely sprinkle the lime Beef pad see you (8/10): beef nicely cooked. Flavorful but again oily Phed yang(lamb)(7.5/10): it's tasty. This is more preference but I normally like the skin crunchy Hat yai fried chicken(7.5/10): great flavor goes well with the sweet and sour. A bit pricey Coconut- very refreshing. Basic presentation Setting: Has indoor and outdoor sitting. Nothing fancy. Very casual decoration. I'm not sure how it is on other days but Friday night gets supper busy so definitely reserve in advance if you don't want to wait really long Service: great service. Fast because of so many customers. Im sure they want it ready for the next which is understandable Price: it's on the expensive side for a Thai food and descent setting but it is flavorful and a good place to try
