"This charming establishment is situated in a pedestrian area in the old town of Linz. A few steps lead down from the entrance to a brightly lit, vaulted room done out in a modern and minimalist style. The creative cuisine playfully experiments with textures and flavours – hence the restaurant's name, which is derived from the Latin verbmutare(meaning "to change"). The service is really friendly and pleasingly informal – the front-of-house team keeps things casual in its interactions with guests. Tip for motorists: You can park at the Garage Promenade." - Michelin Inspector

As with the past few years living in Prague and going fancy with the places Ive chose to dine at, I grew to appreciate a delicious, yet simple bread paired with a organic dairy produce rather than high end tiny artisian meals, I cannot objectively rate the mastering of it in Muto, so I stay aside and give 4 stars for the amazing steak we had and super nice amuse bouche. I just would like to highlight the quality of the service itself we had been fortunate to get from the owner itself during our dinner time. Thank you so much for your generosity and warmth!!!! We agreed not to remember such a place when it comes to this, and especially when three seemingly unfancy countryside people come to a well rewarded restaurant.

I had a creative dinner at Muto, nestled in Linz’s Altstadt. Descending into their bright vaulted dining room, I was immediately struck by the modern minimalism, airy lighting, and friendly tone of the setting. I opted for the five-course seasonal menu, and each dish delighted—think delicate yellowfin tuna sashimi in a tangy ginger-kefir broth, and an elegant venison saddle paired with gremolata and Chinese artichoke. The flavors were bold yet balanced, and vegetarian versions were artfully crafted. The service impressed me most—gracious and insightful, especially when explaining wine pairings from their thoughtfully curated natural wine list. If you're in Linz and appreciate refined, inventive dishes served in a relaxed, stylish space, Muto is a highlight worth experiencing. A clear standout in creativity and ambiance.

I visited several months ago and unfortunately did not like it, Making foams and cubes of things is not enough to be a fine dining restaurant. The creativeness just did not deliver for me. Also the restaurant is small, tables are very close to each other and has in general a bad acoustics, it gets loud very quickly inside. Not the good atmosphere for a quite fine dining meal. The evening that I went there was quite bad air circulation too, hopefully just a thing of that evening. I cannot say that I spent a bad evening but in my opinion this place leaves many things to be desired

I'd heard great things and was excited to try muto. The overall experience was nice (took circa 3 hrs) but unfortunately, the menu was perhaps a bit too experimental for my taste. The host was friendly and regularly checked in, as well as offered nice wine recommendations. Final note: oddly the bathrooms were rather unclean and rather poorly looked after, felt rather like the bathroom at a bachelor pad than a fine dining establishment.

This was a highlight of our trip to Linz. Fabulous meal from start to end, we loved the "do it yourself" gin and tonics and were both impressed and amused by the clever culinary creations. The wine matching was also very worth it. The host was also friendly informative and entertaining .. Highly highly recommend.

A fantastic, creative dining experience in the heart of Linz. Small and inventive, this very personal restaurant will blow your mind. Unusual concoctions and perfection are paired with superb ingredients. Always a pleasure to come here.
