I was quite disappointed with the service I received tonight when I went in to pick up my online order.
When I arrived I asked the girl by the pick up counter if my order might be ready as I got there after the pick up time - she was a younger girl with black hair. I wasn’t sure if I needed to check in. It was hard to tell who had been helped or not as it was very crowded. I had waited a bit at first but thought maybe I had missed her calling it out since I was late, so I checked.
This girl’s response was a very impatient, “I have nothing! Do you see anything on my counter?” I tried to say sorry and explain my thought process, and she just walked off. Another customer watched the interaction and, upon getting their order, brought it up to the girl that they felt she had spoken to me very rudely and that they hoped she would apologize. The girl said oh, yeah, sorry, I’ll talk to them.
I waited a while longer. I noticed people who had just ordered at the counter getting their food before my long overdue online order. The girl had been calling out names as orders were ready, and there was a bag that had been set on the counter about 5 minutes earlier with no name that had been called out for it. I decided to try to check it out and saw my name on the bag. To confirm before just grabbing it, I asked the girl if that was my order and if it was ready, and she said “looks like it….”, and walked away.
I had given her my name earlier when she had snapped at me, and it is very hard to believe that this slight wasn’t on purpose, especially since I had been there watching for so long and every other name was called out immediately once it was bagged. Despite telling the customer who had stood up for me that she planned to apologize, she never said a word to me.
Our school was doing a fundraiser there tonight, so they were busy, but feeling overwhelmed is no excuse to be rude and unprofessional. Not only did I have a very long wait with no acknowledgment or apology (not that the wait in itself was problematic as I had expected it to be busy), but even after being called out on her rudeness, this employee made no attempt to make anything right, and possibly even went further out of her way to act spitefully.
The food was fine if not a little pricey for a counter service restaurant, but nobody is going to quickly return to a restaurant with such unkind staff.
