My Doner - Review - Albany Park - Chicago - The Infatuation

Google
I would rate 100/10 if I could. We loved everything about this establishment. First, people running this place are so great and genuine. Prices are good, portions generous, and most importantly the food is amazing. I don't even know how they do it, but they manage to make everything taste perfect. Even the small side salad was the best we've ever eaten in the US and we've lived here for years. The vibe of this place is just right. If you want to go to a place where you are sure you will feel good and won't feel like you are overpaying for mediocre food just go here. Best food ..normal pices...no bulshit, just good people making great food. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏👏

The weekday lunch special is a great deal if you want to sample most of their offerings. The meats were quite solid overall. Both the chicken kebab and chicken doner were flavorful and juicy. The beef doner, however, fell short with how dry and bland it was. The lahmajun tasted decent but was so soggy. I’d skip the dips here. Both the hummus and baba ganoush were not good to say the least. The pide bread that came with them, though, was great: crisp on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. The housemade baklava was a nice finish to the meal. Service was slow but to be fair, there were only two people were running the whole place.

This is a new gem in Chicago! As a Turkish person, I can say that this was the very best diner, schwarma I have EVER had. This was my first time at My diner, and I had the Berliner. Even the bread is freshly baked; the meat was of a very good quality and well cooked. The chef adds his special sauce. Yummy. The chef is from the city of Master Chefs in Turkey. Their selection of deserts is remarkable, too. You get the best of it all including the friendly hosts at a very reasonable price. I will go back for dinner and breakfast, too. My doner has taken over the top spot on my list of places to eat when I am homesick. After another delicious meal. I had two deserts: tiramisu and reelected. Amazing. Then I learned that the chef used to bake deserts for S famous Italian restaurant in the Loop. Do yourself a favor and eat there.

What absolutely delicious food! A friend and I got the mix platter. The chicken was possibly the juiciest either of us have ever tasted. The ground steak kebabs are a similar flavor profile to dishes at nearby Noon o Kebab and Kabobi, but I think this place does it the best of the three! The salad was fresh and a refreshing compliment to all the meats. Very nice and efficient service, too. I'll be back very soon!

Chef Anil recommended the lahmacun and chicken döner kebab! They have the Best mercimek çorba (lentil soup), lahmacun (Turkish flatbread), and döner kebabs in the City perfectly cooked and seasoned! Amazing Halal menu and great prices. I can't wait to come back for the rotisserie chicken and more. Family owned. Çok lezettli (Delicious!)

Warm service. The hummus is an absolute delight. This is the best shawarma I've ever had. We tried the sharing platter and everything was delicious. You can't leave without trying the sütlü baklava.

Right when you walk in you feel a very comforting vibe. The service adds onto this vibe with a welcome that genuinely makes you feel welcome into their restaurant. The atmosphere is outstanding with their outstanding authentic music and beautiful decor inside their shop. The Berlin döner which was the best I have ever had really sat well on my tongue. The freshly baked bread, and the rich taste that their meat had really made me plan my next visit early.

Google
My first time at My Döner and I was absolutely amazed! The taste of the döner is so unique that I honestly haven't had anything this delicious in a long time. The meat is tender, the spices are perfectly balanced, and everything tastes so fresh. The portions are very generous. The staff's kindness, friendliness, and warm service added even more to the experience. The place is clean, organized, and very comfortable. From now on, whenever I crave döner, this will be the first place that comes to mind. I highly recommend it to everyone with full confidence.

Yelp
Count this as a "pre-review" because I definitely want to go back and order more! Walked in today and ordered for takeout, slightly after lunchtime. The chicken doner was very tasty, and obviously homemade instead of packaged (they had another tray of marinating chicken on deck in their refrigerator case). The lahmacun was really delicious, and I'm not trying to knock any nearby bakeries that also make lahmacun, but this was better. Also ordered a shepherd's salad which was HUGE but I was already full so I'll have to give feedback on that later lol. Seems to be family-run and the family was adorable. They were very sweet and accommodating and tolerated my attempts to learn Turkish. Let me try some extra pickled peppers too. Everything was prepared fresh. Their menus had American flags and bald eagles all over them which made me sad but I hope they do well. Very excited to go back with more time and eat in, especially the iskender and the beyti. I'll try to post pics next time too, which I was too hungry to do this time.

Yelp
My Doner (or is it "MyDoner?) is a months-old Turkish restaurant located on Lawrence just west of Hamlin. I've been wanting to check this place out for awhile, and finally went today for lunch with one of my buds. I presume this is a small family-run business. A young man was our server and rung us up at the register too, though I do not believe he did the cooking of our meals. They serve familiar Turkish dishes, and if you do not know them then the pictures on the menu will be quite helpful. The place has a homey atmosphere, and there was a minimal lunch crowd this Saturday afternoon so the food came out fairly quickly after we placed our orders. I enjoyed my "kofte tabak" (kofte plate) with grilled meat mini-patties, rice with chickpeas, two kinds of "wraps" and a side salad. It was pretty good, though could have used a flavor boost with some sauce or other condiment. My bud ordered the "tavuk izgara" (grilled chicken), which he seemed to like though one of the chicken chunks was undercooked so he left that piece alone. We ordered cans of soft drinks, and were also served a small pitcher of ice water. I'm glad to have a Turkish food option in my 'hood now, and though our lunch was "good not great" I think My Doner is worth another try sometime.

Yelp
Delicious lahmacun, pide and doner sandwiches. I order from here regularly and have to restrain myself from doing it more often. The desserts are great too, especially the sutlac. Nice and clean also. The sweetest people own this restaurant. Do yourself a favor and stop by!

Yelp
Great service. Chill vibes. Good portions, fresh and tasty. Stopped here on a whim and glad we did. Reasonable prices.

Yelp
Not the best experience in this restaurant, food wasn't good at all. The service was nice, but overall not coming back again.

Yelp
Delicious! The menu had lots of stuff in it that I've never heard of but they have pictures of the dishes which was helpful. Great service. The food was super fresh. We had Baba ghanoush for an appetizer and chicken pide as a main dish and a beef flatbread dish. All were delicious. Prices were very affordable and we took leftovers home. We'll be back to try some of the other dishes.

Yelp
The food was spot on! From the kebobs to shawarma to the rice to the salad(oh yum!!!) my husband and I can't wait to go back! We were too stuffed to have dessert and we have to! They've only been open a week and we saw it while going down Lawrence and so glad we stopped because the food was delicious

Yelp
This new restaurant is great. A lovely family owns it and all work together to provide a great Turkish experience. A group of us visited tonight and everything we had was delicious. The Doner itself is very similar to Greek gyros but with delicious greens and veggies served with it . You can order either meat or chicken Prices are very reasonable . Ordering is counter style with delivery by family members. Also the rice pudding was creamy and thick. The space is meticulously clean.

Yelp
I used to work in the Middle East and I've been looking for a shawarma place which has a comparable taste as the one in Saudi Arabia... well .. I found it here in MY DONER!!! So glad we passed by here.. truly authentic!!! And the owners are really accommodating and very nice!! Will definitely be one of my fave place!!!

Yelp
There were twelve of us in our "Cheap Dining" group. This restaurant was absolutely perfect for us. Reasonably priced, excellent, unusual food, and friendly and accommodating. Quiet enough for us to chat and parking g right out in front!
