Tickets were $33 per person for the show featuring Gathering Time, who performed from 8:00-10:00PM. Doors opened 6:00 PM and seats are first come first served. My Father's Place is a nightclub, now located in the lower level of the Roslyn Hotel, parking was free and easy, the room wasn't large and neither were the tables, but IMHO a big improvement from the original version in the early 1970s. It's cozy, classy, and the sound was perfect, even though we sat in the first row. Of course we were very fortunate to see an extraordinarily talented trio harmonizing mostly folk and soft rock songs from the 1960s and 1970s. We were offered a fixed price ($49) 3-course menu for the night before Valentines Day and dined between 6:00-8:00 PM.
The kitchen belongs to the Roslyn Hotel (and you pay them for the food and drink). Kudos to the chef for the impressive quality and preparations. We both started with a traditional Greek salad (no lettuce), light on cheese, lots of peeled crispy fresh seedless cucumbers, some heirloom tomato, olives, etc. in a light tasty house dressing. It was served with very thin, crispy cracker-noodles that came with two little bowls of dips. My wife enjoyed a grilled salmon steak with a light creamy sauce and a side salad of red onion, what seemed similar to pepperoncini, and what looked like arugula. I'm not on a diet, so I took the opportunity to order their pork osso bucco (which was great) that came with mashed potatoes and chopped asparagus. For our third course, we had the whipped ricotta cheese over strawberry (a first and a relatively light cool finish). We enjoyed the food and atmosphere so much that we'll probably be back to take a chance on performers we haven't heard before.
