Like its sister restaurant, Her Place Supper Club, it’s a tough reservation to get. But a blow-out meal here is worth the hassle. "I ordered the Esca-roll at My Loup because I thought the name was clever, knowing well that a good food pun is not an automatic great dish. But whether the ingenious idea for the petite roll of bread filled with escargot started as a play on the similarly named endive or just a mash-up of two words, chef Alex Kemp has unleashed a dish that elicits much more than a chuckle. A lone sculpturesque roll arrives atop a pool of herb-rich butter, the whole affair showered in Parmesan. The steaming bread unravels like a roll of film, revealing generous chunks of meat. The French restaurant is an easy choice for an intimate date night, fun group dinner, or martini-fueled catch-up with friends. "Going to Rittenhouse’s My Loup and not getting the seafood plateau would be like going to Aruba and skipping the beach: joyless, regrettable, and frankly, stupid. At the buzzy, intimate French restaurant, you’ll likely hear Fleetwood Mac coming out of the speakers and see endless trays of mussels, pickled shrimp, oysters, and crudo whizzing by. The ingredients change about as often as Mr. Rogers changed his sweater, so one week you might have scallops on a bed of apple glaze and the next covered in buttermilk and peas.
