"On 44th and Portland, just over the Puyallup Reservation line, MyPhilly is one of the few PNW joints doing some real justice to the art of the Philadelphia cheesesteak. These deliciously unphotogenic sandwiches are served on rolls shipped in from famous Philadelphia bakery Amoroso’s, and these suckers are huge, weighing in around a pound and a half apiece. Peppers and onions are optional, and you can also order a mushroom-and-onion version, swap in chicken for steak, or even customize your cheesesteak as a hoagie, with mayo, lettuce, and tomatoes. A word to the uninitiated: Per East Coast tradition, the white American cheese melts completely into the ribeye, binding the meat together—it’s in there, and you’ll know it when you take a bite. But if you want to see the cheese glistening on top of your sandwich, just ask for extra. More cheese never hurt anybody." - Meg van Huygen, Sue Kidd

Google
Wow! Did a search for the best Philly cheesesteak near me as I was starting my drive back to Portland this evening. This popped up and it looked like it wasn’t too far off the freeway so I decided to try it. One of the best food decisions I’ve ever made. The owner and his family greeted me as I came in, we chatted about what makes a good Philly cheesesteak, their history, and I ordered the original, large. I planned on eating half and taking half with me for my husband to try when I get home tonight. Well, unfortunately, my husband won’t be able to try it. I ate the ENTIRE sandwich. This is the best Philly cheesesteak sandwich, EVER. GO THERE NOW!!!! After I finished I ended buying twelve sandwiches for our team meeting tomorrow.

Google
Today's visit to 'My Philly' left me surprised at the realization that I had apparently never had a proper Philly cheesesteak. 🤯 While I feel under qualified to compare these to others, I am certainly qualified to vouch for this hole in the wall cheesesteak treasure! I ordered the Deluxe Cheesesteak that had allll the fixin's. Absolutely incredible. I couldn't help but devour the entire sandwich! I highly recommend this place if you like a good philly. The atmosphere inside may not feel like a polished, well established restaurant, but God knows it isn't... it's a legendary Philly cheesesteak shop! You won't regret it!

Google
Delicious! In my experience here, the food is amazing! My daughter and I shared a full sub, they’re huge so you definitely get your moneys worth! The flavor was great as well. My husband ordered one with a bit of spice and my daughter and I got the original steak Philly. Wait time wasn’t too long, I appreciate a restaurant that makes orders fresh on the spot. We’ll absolutely be back!

Google
Straight up, this place is amazing! From the moment we walked in, through the crowd of people that already knew how good this place is, the friendly greeting by the person behind the counter, and the smell of fresh steak being carefully curated into masterful sandwiches, we knew this was someplace special. We were there at the tail end of lunch and as the existing customers filtered out the staff really shined with their friendliness and customer service. Even the head chef/owner came out to visit for a few minutes with people before disappearing back to his tasks in the kitchen. The Philly cheesesteak sandwiches were phenomenal! So full of tender meat that had the best flavor I’ve tasted. Contained in a super fresh soft roll with melted cheese making this sandwich a must have! Combined with a side of fries and a homemade blue raspberry lemonade made this a filling meal. Highly recommended in every way and we’ll definitely be back soon!

Google
Don't let this little shop fool you from the outside or location! The staff made it feel like you were eating over at your best friends house and they make by Far the BEST True Philly Cheesesteak in Pierce Co!! You can taste the meat and onions, with the right amount of ingredients! Plus they have the Cheese Wiz on request! I've been to Pat's and Geno's Steaks in Philly and these sandwiches hold their own! Highly recommend "My Philly" if you want a True Philly made the Right way!!

Sheena

Google
I’m sorry the Philly cheesesteaks are not good. No flavor. Old grill and dirty utensils carried as flavor. Portions were great. 2 extra meat subs. 43.03

Google
Definitely a real Philly cheese steak!! 🔥 Haven't had a real one in awhile. Highly recommend getting the mushroom Philly with jalapenos.

Google
Saw this place on an Instagram video and had to try it. The Philly was great, very juicy and seasoned well. Cooked really good with the onions and the bread was perfect. Loved the fries as well. Will be going g back.

Sarey D.

Yelp
It was great. Tasty and filling. I should have added nore cheese sauce. I doordash it but food was nicely presented and wrapped.

Yelp
This place has been on my list for a while. Unfortunately, the second we walked in it was an almost immediate no and we turned around and left. The smell walking inside was off putting. The floor was sticky. The place was dirty as were a few tables despite nobody being in there. The woman at the counter was on the phone and never even looked up. The TV was anxiously loud. We stood there for a few minutes and finally walked out.

Sonia S.

Yelp
Came here after scoping it out online. Eastside Tacoma...so yea...a little sketchy. Took a little minute to get the order in because some ladies were holding up the line. Said it would be ready in 15 minutes, was a good 30 minutes. People walking all up in the kitchen from outside. Prices are pretty high considering fries and drinks are extra. Shasta drinks is what's on the menu. Sandwich is good size, lots of meat--but sadly, hardly any toppings or cheese. Couldn't really tell there was any onions or mushrooms on the Mushroom Cheesesteak, my friend (from the East Coast) got the one with lettuce, tomatoes and mayo. Said there was a lot of mayo, no tomatoes, and the lettuce was soggy. The quality of ingredients is subpar. Really just didn't do it for us. We both agree that it wasn't worth the money or the hype. We would have loved to love it though.

Yelp
I stopped by this place after seeing a video on social media. First off, the area is a little sketch, probably wouldn't come here after dark, honestly, but. The food was great. I've only found a couple places in washing/oregon that are competent in making a solid Philly sandwich. This is one of them. The meat was seasoned well and had great flavor. Not dried out or chewy. Could definitely use about double the cheese they put on, but the meat is definitely the star of the show. The only complaint is the bread. It was decent, but just lacked something. It was a little too soft without that little bit of chew that holds a really Philly together

Tara G.

Yelp
The Food was HOT OFF THE GRILL it was fresh and seasoned too perfection the Setvice is amazing the lady that took our order was VERY patient and even gave us free drinks, these Philly's are huge whether you order the hard or the whole it's alot.. can't wait to have them again

Chuck S.

Yelp
Okay you come here like everyone else has said for two things food and really friendly staff. I'm from South Jersey I do know a thing or two about Philly cheesesteaks. I still order them on gold belly from Pat's with whiz. I've paid a lot of money for that privilege to enjoy what I grew up with here outside of Seattle. In the 15 years or so since I moved here I have looked at almost every restaurant that has the name Philly cheesesteak. There are a few really good ones but unfortunately if you have closed and some are not as good as they used to be. But a drive from Seattle to Tacoma to buy my cheese steaks and return the same day is a lot cheaper and environmentally better then ordering them from Pat's. Their food is exceptional I tried three different sandwiches to see how they would be and how they would compare to what I've had here and back home. I ordered their special cheese steak, a mushroom cheesesteak, and an Italian hoagie. I have no need to order from Pat's anymore. Pats are still better but it's only because they can get that good South Philly bread. The sounds and smells while you're waiting for your sandwiches remind me of every corner sub shop I grew up in. The click click click click click of the spatula's chopping up the steak, the smell of the onions cooking brought me right back home. If they sold tasty cakes it would be perfect. Forget what I said about ambience the smell and the sounds and the staff make the place special.

Derrick G.

Yelp
This is a no frills cheesesteak. It's very similar to a neighborhood cheesesteak shop you would find in Philadelphia, this is not a traditional restaurant setting. I would suggest visiting during the day, the adjacent businesses have bars on the windows, so it's probably not a good idea to visit at night. The cheesesteaks are very good, if you enjoy a traditional Philly Cheesesteak.

Kiki S.

Yelp
Hands down delish!!! These people know how to season food correctly and to perfection! Quality food prepared by someone who cooks like they are eating it. LOVE THIS PLACE! A++++++++++++

Sharin F.

Yelp
Understated!! This is by far the best Philly I've had in the state. I used to work at Jersey Mike's and that is basically the McDonald's of cheesesteak on the west coast. This is much much better. Good quality meat and a lot of it. Vegetables are cooked perfectly and aren't just slime in the meat. Cheese isn't overwhelming and it travels very well. I drove with these in my car for over 30 minutes. They were still hot/not soggy and full of flavor. They have a great bread, clean atmosphere and amazing service. Beautiful smiling faces greet you as you walk in. The humble restaurant is clean and tidy. Everything is made to order so it's all super crazy fresh. Pricing is kind at the very least. For the amount of food you're receiving, the Philly should cost more. They are stuffed, I mean STUFFED with good quality beef. From the outside, it looks like a hole in the wall Philly place, which wouldn't completely turn me off, but inside is a cute and efficient cheesesteak shop. Best hidden gem I've found since moving to Washington 4 years ago. Definitely under hyped.

Darriell G.

Yelp
Mannnnnn when I tell you these are the best Philly in Washington state! The amount of cheese l, seasoning, meat and veggies, muah chefs kiss! It's now a weekly lunch spot

Lisa J.

Yelp
We heard of this place off of social media drove 20 mins to get a Philly. Good flavor abundance of meat but lack of onions and very little cheese very little. When I think Philly I think over load saute onions and cheese whiz up the arm this did not deliver. It was good but not a Philly but a meat sandwich. Won't go back.

Marie J.

Yelp
I'm reallllly sad. Truly...Truly. Sad. They CHANGED THEIR MEAT. And don't tell me you didn't...cause you did. I know 'cheap, low quality meat' when I see it. Let alone taste it. It is DEFinitely that cheaper 'meat'. That thin, course, tasteless '120- grit..sand paper' textured....paper meat..stuff. I should have taken a picture but was so pissed it got tossed on the second half last visit but... If you take a picture of what your NOW getting compared to the picture I show (where you could literally see the 'grain' of what was then --'the beef') you can SEE the difference. Good people fo sho' BUT they compromised greatness. After the two pictures of previous visit orders... They hit me twice afterwards wit that mess but that won't happen again. Bet.

Loe P.

Yelp
Fabulous. This place is fantastic! Highly recommend. And the counter girl is a joy. Spent the afternoon with her husband. He was a HOOT! Great guy.

Ben J.

Yelp
I love a good Philly Cheesesteak but not are all created equal. I've been to Pat's and Geno's in Sooth Philly, so I hav e a pretty good idea of what a GREAT philly taste like. My Philly was really good. A lot of meat, cooked to perfection. There was cheese but it's mixed in, not slathered on top. Nonetheless, it was a truly hearty and tasty treat! Lady working was nice! Worth a stop-in for sure.

Ashleigh B.

Yelp
Came from the Bay Area to visit my brother who recommended this place and BOY they did not disappoint ! The Philly was delicious, stacked with me & flavorful !! He ordered his with extra cheese which I might try next time but over all very good experience, delicious food & super nice staff !! Definitely recommend trying them out !

Joe S.

Yelp
Amazing food! Meat is always fresh, perfectly cooked and seasoned. I stop here every time I am in town. Best cheesesteak in the area, hands down!

Thomas L.

Yelp
Food is great. Best Philly I've found in Western Washington. But bring ear plugs. They blast music on most days to the point of distraction. I usually wear earbuds when I eat there to block it out. I'd give them five stars if they just fixed this problem.

Bryan N.

Yelp
My sister and I used to love going to Philly fever in Seattle, they had really good cheesesteaks. But from my understanding they have closed, and in between that time, I stopped eating meat. But I heard about this place on Facebook and saw that it was black owned and I had to support! I called my sister and asked what she wanted. She decided on the pepper cheesesteak. I placed the order and waited in my car. The young gentleman ended up bringing me my order!! I was very happy about that lol. I gave the cheesesteak to my sister and though I don't eat meat, omg it smelled so good hahaha and looked even better. My sister said that she did like it! She said it was equivalent to go Philly which is a good thing for Tacoma people as I keep hearing that's the go to Philly spot. WELL NOW THERE'S A NEW ONE!!!

Nicole B.

Yelp
Saw this places reviews wanted to try it out and also saw it on TikTok and someone said it was their number 1 Philly in Tacoma honestly can't see how it would be. The flavors were lacking. There was barely any cheese or seasoning,. The size was good, but also the sandwich was almost $20 and you don't even get a drink or fry's with it. I was willing to pay and which I did, but honestly after I paid and tried it I was wanting to go get my money back but the cashier girl was kind of standoffish so I didn't even wanna waste my time. It's a family business so there word obviously would've been over mine, I've lived in Tacoma for 10 years definitely better spots than this one. The owner was nice thought he answered the phone I was sitting outside when he did. He is sweet and approachable.

Ronald W.

Yelp
My new go to place in Tacoma. I've been in at least 4 or 5 times now. Heck even learned the hard way that they aren't opened on Sundays :-( Asked for recommendation on first trip and was told pepper cheesesteak. So moist and well seasoned, I like it better than most cheesesteaks in Philly where my girlfriend lives. Make sure you hold the sandwich properly as it will drip.

Ricky R.

Yelp
This place is cool. The owners are nice and friendly. Music is good. I am a fan. Up until yesterday our go to philly cheesesteak spot was Go Philly. Now My Philly has not completely replaced go philly, but I can see myself splitting my time between the two a bit more. Go Philly has one thing off the top that My Philly does not have and that is chicken wings. I think Go Philly might have some of the best chicken wings in the area. My Philly has one huge thing over Go Philly. Time management. I dont know if its because they are new or not as busy yet, but the system had an error when we ordered online and he didnt get the order. They got that sandwich off the grill in 10 minutes and it was awesome!! Go Philly will tell you a 40 minute wait and you should plan on an additional 30+ minutes on that. I like this place. The sandwich was packed full of meat and veggies. The flavors were great. It was as beautiful mess to eat but it was so delicious.

Kenny T.

Yelp
Great food and service. Authentic cheese steaks. Great fries too love the Shasta. Worth the calories.

Alden C.

Yelp
Good Cheesesteak Sandwich place! There was one right in downtown Tacoma that I liked but was saddened to hear that they permanently closed so I'm glad there's another place that I am fond towards to try and fill that gap. One thing I really liked is you can get a half or a fuller size on the sandwich. Sometimes I don't want a mammoth of a sandwich to eat so the smaller portion was really nice to see. To start with on my first time here I got the classic Philly steak and cheese style sandwich. It was really good and was very satisfying but not too much since I went for the smaller sized sandwich. Good place to keep in mind! Most of the other customers here were doing take out so I did take out as well. Not sure if sit down dining is encouraged yet due to the pandemic but it's still a great place to go to get a sandwich here!

Kim B.

Yelp
As always fresh, made to order, delivered hot and fresh via Uber eats. They don't put mayo on (or mine at least) them and that is great - for me keep it simple. I ordered a half and could only eat half of that. I will have to reign in my craving for this amazing comfort food. The people there are so friendly and kind- they are super busy working but still produce 5 star quality. This is my third time in about 3 weeks - also note not as salty as some I have tried.

Joby B.

Yelp
First time trying a Philly cheesesteak and OMG YES!!!!! Outstanding flavor! Finely chopped meat and great portion!

Dawn G.

Yelp
Great cheesesteak. Got there at 8:30 and they closed at 9 but all the chairs were on the tables and we got the feeling from the girl cleaning the lobby that we were not welcome to stay, so we ate in our car with two kids. Other than that, great food!

Intercontinental C.

Yelp
Long way from home but this place is the closest thing to a cheese steak. The style is different all together but they come with flavor. Go Birds!

Willie F.

Yelp
Was out here for work and looking around Yelp I saw this place. Good ratings but only a handful of reviews. Perfect time to go try it out. First off, let me say the restaurant isn't like a fancy place or anything like that. It's a mom and pop shop that's more to go than anything, I mean it's a cheesesteak joint so don't expect waiters and all that. I only ordered a half sized cheese steak for lunch. It was messy and greasy but was SOOO good. I don't care what anyone says, that's EXACTLY how a cheesesteak should be. This half sandwich was loaded with ribeye slices where every bite was amazing. Don't expect your dutch crunch sliced turkey sandwich here. This is where you want to go to get slapped in the face with the flavor of real beef, cheese, and a soft roll where everything just melts in your mouth. If I'm ever back in Tacoma, definitely going back here.

Dan T.

Yelp
This place is a legit Philly cheesesteak place. My old roommate is from Philadelphia and I've been to Philly had been to all the popular spots. This place holds its own. They don't short you on the meat. The rolls are fresh. Definitely come here and get yours wit.

Fernando V.

Yelp
The best Phillies in town no doubt. Had the Deluxe wit all the works and did not disappoint.

Iggy R.

Yelp
Way better than mikes, better than Go, and better than your mamas. Yes even better than my own family's homemade version. My Philly delivers a straight-up simple sandwich like no other. Ask them, and they will shrug their shoulder. Lol. Making it happen. It's one of the most fantastic Philly I have ever had. I usually order the pepper ones. I have tried the deluxe and the basic. All of the Phillies are great.

Ti T.

Yelp
If you're from the east side in Tacoma, this spot is just around the corner. Your eyes might get lost by the drive thru smoke shop on Portland next to the Khmer temple in 44th but it's the driveway right after it. Food was still steaming hot by the time I got home and look how huge HALF of the Philly looks in my hand. I shouldn't have got the whole one but I don't regret anything. It was just the right amount of spice to enjoy. The pricing is amazing, and the owners were really nice. You have to stop by, enough said.

Grace L.

Yelp
This is our second time here and I think this will be a weekly stop. Friendly service and fabulous food. They have diet grape Shasta.

Jaicee M.

Yelp
I ordered through Doordash. The food arrived still hot which is awesome. The fries are great they have a seasoning on them I like. The sandwich is massive and messy in a good way. This food is making me do the happy food dance. I will definitely be ordering from them again.

Juanita P.

Yelp
They good when they want to be meat on point and bread umm bomb fries I can say that I love me some Philly

Mike L.

Yelp
I got the Philly steak fries and a an Italian sandwich. The fries had zero flavor I don't know why. I would think at least the cheese would have some flavor. The 3 stars is for the sandwich it was decent.

John B.

Yelp
The packaging ruined it for me. Nothing like having a bag of cheesesteaks leak all over your car seat on the way home. Use plastic bags or package them better! The napkins were dirty and I tossed them right away. Got pepper steak and pepper chicken and regular fries. Pepper steak was decent but I guess I was expecting more from it. Very large portion size. It was seasoned ok but I do prefer the ribeye meat that Go Philly uses. The fries were meh. Soggy and didn't taste like they were fresh. The store was clean, the staff was friendly and lots of parking. Would like to have rated them better but the whole leaky bag thing kind of set the tone. Sketchy area, be alert.

WDollar B.

Yelp
The chopped chicken was pretty good!! The fries were fresh also. I would recommend this place for a good philly.

Christopher P.

Yelp
Best philly I've had on the west coast. If I had to guess I would bet the owners are from or near Philadelphia.

James S.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place. First, for being open since June(10 months), would think they have there operation in working order. Not sure if it's due to Grub hub orders or not. Anyways, lady told me food would be ready in 15mins but took over 30mins. Not sure if it was the time I arrived but restaurant was empty and mostly to go orders. I ordered full Deluxe Cheesesteak, full Mushroom Cheesesteak, and Cheese Fries with Steak. Food tasted okay but would have been better if they put the cheese on the sandwiches. Also I wouldn't recommend the Cheese Fries., it was too salty for my taste. Maybe I just picked a wrong day to come by.

Keysha S.

Yelp
At first I thought I was in the wrong spot and blamed my maps app for steering me wrong. Upon a closer look, I saw it at the end of a small strip mall. I'm so glad I did. I love, love, love Philly cheesesteaks and it's hard to find a good one. I had my spot when I lived up north. I have a spot for when I'm in Seattle. But being new to the Tacoma area, I was on a mission. I'm happy to say that I've found my place. They offer a full size and a half size. I didn't quite get why because a half of a sandwich didn't seem like much. But, after ordering a full size, I realized this isn't your average Philly cheesesteak. I could have gotten the half and been full. However, that didn't stop me from eating the entire thing. The flavor was delicious, there was plenty of meat and the bread help up (nothing worse than a great sandwich on the wrong bread). The only thing I'd ask for is more cheese but that's my preference. I grabbed one for my son and he loved it, too. Also, the service was great! I'll definitely be back!

Alesa P.

Yelp
Pullin up to the spot you wouldn't think that type of food would come out of that joint... THAT SHIT IS BOMB, it always be in the hole in the wall places that have the best good. We ordered the deluxe, ORG philly and the chicken cheese hoagie. It is a little messy from the juice of the meat but the FLAVOR is there!! Best philly I have had. The girl that took my order very nice sweet.

Paris S.

Yelp
Black family owned!!!! I wanna say a dad and his two daughters! Great service always greeted with a smile! Overall welcoming environment even though the surrounding area is a bit meh! They are a diamond in the rough okaaaay!! The philly will not disappoint ! Huge sandwich , be prepared to have hella napkins because the juicy drip is real! I always get the beef philly jon with all the works and sweetie it never has an off day!! They give you punch cards to earn a free sammmich (i always lose mine) but its all good I'll pay for My Philly any day!

DavId M.

Yelp
OMG, awesome cheese steak! Lots of meat and great flavor. I would definitely recommend this place.

David M.

Yelp
First bite = absolute amazing this place beats all the Philly cheese steak restaurants in Tacoma! Give them a shot it'll be worth it!

Lester J.

Yelp
I wanted to try them out since I like Philly steaks. The Deluxe cheese steak and pecan pie was smacking. I would recommend this new spot.

Joe M.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic! They beat Calozzis in our opinion. Also the sandwich is much larger here. This place is an absolute gem! People are very nice. Business very clean. We'll definitely be coming here regularly. Checks all the boxes for us.

Elise T.

Yelp
Definitely a hidden gem! Recently moved to the area and tried My Philly for the first time and was not disappointed. The sandwiches come filled with tons of steak and are super filling. Full of flavor and delicious! Definitely will be going back.
