My Pot

Wanting to try Hot Pot for a long time and being in the area, we opted to visit this establishment. My Pot is situated Inside of the Yamakado restaurant which can get confusing as there’s no signage u til you get to Yamakado. The service was a bit poor even though they were not very busy but the waitress did her best to explain the process and the options. The food was BRILLIANT, we chose 4 soups all of which incredibly flavourful and we thoroughly enjoyed all of the options we chose and I have to mention the watermelon boba was remarkable. Unfortunately this was short lived as a cockroach made its way onto our table right next to our food and another one was on the wall in our booth. This soured our experience and completely put us off. We complained to the manager, paid our bill and left.

I’ve always loved the food and vibe at MyPot the food is amazing and the atmosphere is great. But after my experience today, I’m seriously considering not going back. The waitress approached me and said I didn’t tip her last time, which doesn’t make sense because I always leave a 10% tip. Today, I did the same and added the 10% tip to the bill, but she told me it wasn’t enough. This is beyond frustrating. I enjoy this place, but incidents like this are really making me rethink whether it’s worth it to return.

1 Star – Serious Food Safety Violation and Deeply Disappointing Experience ! We were extremely disappointed with our experience at My Pot. Our total bill came to over R700, which is a premium price — yet what we received was far from acceptable in terms of quality, hygiene, or value. The most alarming issue was that the majority of the prawns had their digestive tracts still inside and were not cleaned properly. This is not a minor oversight — it is a serious health and food safety violation. The digestive tract of shellfish can contain harmful bacteria, toxins, and parasites, and consuming it poses a significant health risk, especially for children, the elderly, and individuals with compromised immune systems. This shows a complete disregard for standard food preparation protocols. Any qualified food safety inspector would consider this unacceptable, and it would likely be in direct violation of health regulations. For a professional kitchen to serve seafood in this state reflects extremely poor hygiene practices and a lack of basic food handling knowledge. To make matters worse, the rest of the food was bland and unremarkable — nowhere near the standard expected for the price — and even drinks were served without ice, suggesting a general lack of care across the board. This was not just a disappointing meal — it was a potential health hazard, and we are extremely concerned that this is being allowed to happen. We expect a formal response from management, as well as a full refund or suitable compensation. More importantly, we urge the restaurant to immediately review its food handling procedures before someone falls seriously ill.

Awesome experience and will highly recommend this place. We ordered the platter for 2 which was more than enough for 4 people to eat, with the chilli and bone broth. Portion sizes very generous and good service. Wine was reasonably priced and ambience is nice, not too loud. Will definitely be returning.

Mainly disappointed to making reservations for a night here on my boyfriends birthday, which they agreed to provide me a seating overlooking the outside view . Unfortunately on arrival there was no seating there (although I made reservations requesting it), to which one responded that their workers are just incompetent and that it happens often... We got seated inside... In conclusion, we both loved the food and decor, just would have loved to provide my boyfriend a dinner experience he deserves for his birthday... I guess reservations are useless at MyPot.

5 of us went to Hot Pot for the first time, not knowing what to expect. We were so impressed and thoroughly enjoyed the experience! The food was an absolute highlight for us, it was delicious. We will definitely be back.

Authentic Asian cuisin. However, it might be a bit challenging for first-timers as there is little to almost no guidance depending on ones knowledge or preference. I guess different strokes for different folks. The food tasted good, though oily. It's worth a try.

Was a fantastic experience in think skewers definitely need to be removed, the "seafood platter" was fish,squid and 1 scallop of a deluxe set menu. They can also take more care in straining the peppercorns out of the spicy broth so u don't get a 100g on each scoop other then that it was good and the bubble waffles are a must
