Saw great reviews of this place so we had to check it out! We got the goat curry, chicken vindaloo, garlic naan, and plain rice. Pros first, customer service was great, I didn’t know you had to separately order rice, but he gave it to me for free. Everything was also freshly made! The food however was just okay. I was quite disappointed. Goat curry was extremely oily (you can see in the picture), even on the plate it was just mainly oil. Meat could have also been trimmed better, some pieces had inedible fat. Both curries could have been spicer too. I won’t be back, but this is great for anyone who wants fresh food over fast food after a long day.

My Taist of India – Hidden Gem for Fresh Indian Food Little secret: the best and freshest Indian food around is tucked away off the highway at a truck stop! There’s a reason so many Indian truck drivers stop here—the food quality is outstanding, with everything made fresh in-house each morning. It’s not a fancy dining spot, but that’s part of the charm: it’s all about incredible ingredients and real flavors. You can’t beat the quality, welcoming atmosphere, and friendly staff. I’ll definitely be making this a destination on future road trips! We tried the samosa chaat, Punjabi samosa, matar paneer, lemon rice, garlic naan, and lamb makhani. Don’t miss the mango lassi—or the salt lassi, which was a first for me and included a touch of crushed anise seed. Absolutely delicious. Plenty of easy parking and quick access to gas and diesel make this an ideal stop for anyone traveling through the area. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic, freshly prepared Indian cuisine!

Came for the evening after a long day of work and driving. Had some misgivings at first when I saw it was next to a convenience store in a truck stop gas station, but those were blown away the moment I walked in the door. The aroma of the cooking pulls you in. Order at the counter to sit in or to go. Nice, clean, quiet, and comfortable seating inside with leather chairs. I had the medium spice lamb curry with rice, garlic naan, and mango lassi. The lassi was fresh and the curry was hot! It has a good kick too for medium, next time I will try full. Little joke 😉. But seriously, I have no complaints and will be back. Was quite filling and a nice ending to my day. These people know what they are doing. I was told that the lamb marinates for 8 hours, and confirm you can taste it in the texture. If you are reading all this and are still on the fence, I assure you give it a try. This place just became a destination in mind, and I would not stear you wrong. The menu contains much more than what I ordered, so don't worry about a lack of choice. So many people post pictures of their food before they eat, but what does that tell you? You can see my dishes after I ate.

Had the chicken biryani and it was delicious! The owner had recommended dishes based on your spice level. His signature dish is vindaloo since he’s from the area of Indian that invented the dish. We’ll definitely be back to try it!

Google
What a find in the middle of rural Pennsylvania. This was surprise find for us on our way from Jersey to Pittsburgh. The food was amazing and the service was exceptional. We had super fresh Naans, Methi Malai Mutter, Paneer Tikka Masala, Chicken Biriyani, and freshly made Mango Lassi. Everything tasted wonderful and Jo made us feel home throughtout. Lot of space to be seated indoors and clean washrooms.

Google
I love this place. The food is spiced just perfect. It was not so spicy that I couldn't enjoy the taste and flavors of the spices and herbs used. We had the lamb curry and chicken tikka masala. If I lived here this would be one of my favorites. The Food is cooked fresh and the Naan is so fresh and delicious. My husband and I will be returning. I really like the seats and tables and how the energy is here. Very pleasant. 10/10

Google
A hidden gem of a restaurant that transports you halfway around the world when you walk through the doors. The aroma from the kitchen, which is by the Tata truck counter in the front, helps you order and hints at the amazing range of meals served here. My family had fish curry, goat curry, tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala, and the bread basket (with every kind of naan they serve). Simply fantastic! Even our picky 9 year old found a meal with the nicely baked chicken and fluffy rice. Far cry from the typical diner fare and fast food we get when traveling. If you have a few minutes to spare - the food is all freshly made - definitely stop here for the best meal of your road trip!

We ordered Shahi Paneer and roti—absolutely delicious! The flavors were rich and authentic. What made the experience even better was the owner's warm hospitality. He was kind enough to let us in even after hours, which we truly appreciated. Highly recommend this place for both the food and the service!

Yelp
Honestly didn't expect it to taste so good, given that it was located near a gas station. The garlic naan with the lamb curry was mm mmm mmmm. We had some mango lassi as well, loved it. I wish I had a gallon of it in my own fridge. The restaurant itself was pretty cozy. But the service was great! Our waiter connected with my dad and had a good conversation about our culture and the preparation of the lamb. Had a great time, we would definitely go back.

Yelp
Do not be discouraged the truck stop location: this is some of the best Indian food I have ever had! Put this in your long term memory: Hershey PA, My Taste of India. You will thank us!

Yelp
Wow delicious!!!! Stopped to get gas and checked this place out. So glad we decided to eat here on our road trip! Service was excellent, very patient and nice, checked up on us multiple times. Took the time to explain my new fav dish to me before ordering. Food was a bit slow to come out, but we were on the rushed side + had a hangry baby haha so we are not the most patient customers. - garlic naan 4/5 solid - malai tikka 5/5 DELICIOUS!!!! Chicken was so tender and juicy, tasted like it was roasted to order. Sauce was a delicious creamy cashew sauce with warm spice and lemon flavor. Wow so glad I tried it!!!! - butter chicken 4/5 solid, flavorful, hits the spot Restroom is clean too. Thanks for being on our route! Keep doing what you're doing!

Yelp
I left a 5 star 4 years ago, because the food and service used to be so good. Today I shall give a 0 star if I could. Their service, food, behavior has drastically changed for the worse. I returned after 4 years yesterday, traveling from Texas. We ordered bhatura, requested them well done, we reached the restaurant to pick up our order and we opened to see it. The chef made bhatura out of naan dough. No wonder it breaks and all the oil goes in. We said we won't take it because they didn't make it how it's supposed to be made- imagine ordering a pancake and when u go to pick it they give you oats instead- SAME. Anyway, we went there today to order something, and the server said their Mrs. Owner has said to refuse service to us because their chef messed up yesterday's order. A very petty move to cover up faults.

Yelp
very low-key attached to a gas station but willing to try something different. The atmosphere seemed a little skeptical, but I'm always willing to try new places. First of all, the Goat Biryani had more fat and bones than meat and for the price not worth it...I just could have ordered a side of rice with my Garlic Naan bread. I did inform the cook about the goat meat, and he is going to add Lamb to it since I got nothing but bones and fat. Something that should have been informed when ordering the Goat is that whatever they have back there is what you get. I am not satisfied with the dish, but good customer service, with him giving me the additional Lamb to compliment the biryani dish. The cook provided me with the lamb biryani and the same results, lots of bones and fat, on the dish. So this is a no for me, and the amount of money I spent should've just gone with the vegetable dishes instead. Make sure to ask about the Goat and Lamb prior to ordering, so you won't get cheated. Now look at the owner/cooks' response to me so disrespectful and unwarranted. My opinion means a lot, and I did not eat the terrible food you so-called provided. You should be ashamed to reference me as you did in your reapones, and I will be taking additional action against your establishment to ensure that people know you are ripping people off.

Yelp
Traveling through area and found searching on phone. Honestly was a little nervous when we pulled in. But there seemed to be customers coming and going so we went for it. If this place was near us we'd be frequent customers. The guy waiting on tables and running the register I believe was doing all the cooking too, but was very friendly and helpful. The food was really very good! Much better than some fancier and much more pricey places, and much better than we expected from the back of a gas station. :-). Highly recommended.

Yelp
We stopped for lunch and ordered chicken tikka masala nan and tandoori platter. All the food was amazing, very authentic and tasted very fresh. Portions are very generous. What made our meal even more enjoyable was host Jo who was extremely friendly and checked with us constantly if food was good and if we needed anything. We accidentally spilled some tea at our table and Jo was nice enough to offer another table. We had a wonderful time conversing with Jo and chef Jose in our native language. He prepared excellent masala tea to our taste. We also got food to go and can't wait to eat more yummy food! Will definitely visit again if we are driving through that area. Facility is super clean and organized, even the restrooms. 5/5 for customer service and 5/5 for food!!

Yelp
Got an order of Chicken Tikka with some Onion Naan. The food was tasty but the do not include an order of rice with the meals. It's an extra charge apparently. For the amount they charged for the Tikka, Rice should have been included.

Yelp
As a truck driver I liked that coming in this establishment it was separated from the gas station it was nice & the restaurant was clean. The customer service was also helpful. I ordered chicken curry with a order of rice to go & I liked that they offered spicy and sweet sauce on the side to add on to your liking & honestly the portion is good enough to feed two. I also got the samosa chaat and woah they're big and that alone could've filled me up. Definitely will be coming back to dine in.

Erykah S.

Yelp
Some of the best Indian food in the area, no doubt. However, it's ridiculous that rice isn't included with the entrees, especially given the higher prices. Not sure if they have air conditioning, but it was rather warm during my visit. Customer service was also lacking. I'd consider coming back for the food, but there's definitely room for improvement in both service and comfort.

Janine S.

Yelp
Tasty Indian food! Rice is extra but the Butter Chicken, Paneer Saag, and Garlic Naan were all delicious.
google avatar

Garth M.

Yelp
Always great service and amazing food. My daughter loves eating from here and my coworkers love coming here for the lunch buffet.

Yelp
We catered for the 2nd time in last 2 years from them. We had approximately 50guests. The owners were extremely helpful in suggesting the quantity that makes it more practical to order the food so that it is appropriate for the guest list. They were also able to adjust the spice level. We received compliments for food from guests of all backgrounds (Indian, Caucasian, Nepali and Asian). We will definitely be back again!!

John N.

Yelp
Excellent, reasonably priced food. Right of I-85. Seems to be almost home cooking--food comes out appropriately slow. Samosas came quickly and were delicious. Tikka Masala chicken took a few minutes but was equally excellent.
google avatar

Robert M.

Yelp
Excellent service and VERY authentic food. Not watered down for America. Great little place.

Ivan J C.

Yelp
Love this place!! Delicious!! They even have hot water ready if you wanna bring your own tea or hot chocolate!

Yelp
So. Let's begin by reminding ourselves not to judge hypothetical books by their hypothetical covers. That being said this place is in the middle of a truckers paradise attached to a gas station. If it weren't for my boyfriend I'd have walked on by and MISSED THIS SPECIAL GEM!. The customer service is lovely. The gentleman at the counter( wish I'd gotten his name) was so patient with our many questions about substitutions and changing things. We ordered Butter Shrimp and a mango curry with fish! And like 4 orders of the garlic naan. LET ME TELL YOU. When I say both of these dishes were perfectly flavored and balanced.....*chef's kiss*. Each dish has its own distinct beautiful layered taste. I don't know how many times I've been to Indian spots and the curries taste the same. This place has set the bar so high....I MIGHT just have to come hang out with truckers so I can eat here more frequently. Lots of vegetarian options, pescatarian options, mmm mmm mmm! Please come check this spot out! I'm going again ASAP.

Nicholas P.

Yelp
Amazing not much more I can say. Ohh and spicy Chilli Paneer - Flavorful Indian starter with cheese, bell peppers and onions in tangy sauce

Jorge O.

Yelp
Really good tasting food, next to the TA and in front of the Flying J truck stop. They also have truck parking. Overall really good service too.

Pallavi R.

Yelp
Excellent food, home cooked and fresh! We stopped by on the way to West Virginia . The host Jo is an amazing person and recommended some excellent food items! One of the best Indian food we have tried in America for sure! We ordered tandoori roti, chole , mutton curry and dal makhni, all dishes were superb!
google avatar

Shawn J.

Yelp
The taste is spot on!! Wish it was more meat but I will come back. I'm a otr truck driver and I doubt get a chance to eat good out here but today I have

Yelp
We have eaten our fair share of Indian food including time spent in and around Mumbai for a family wedding, and my wife and I both agree that this is some of the best Indian cuisine we have ever had. We ordered the basics--chicken tikka, saag paneer, etc--and loved it!! On the spicy side--also loved that. Don't be fooled by its proximity to a convenient store and gas station. People are lovely and food is delicious!

Ken S.

Yelp
We didn't expect much when we pulled up but were very pleasantly surprised. The food was great, the service was very good, and the atmosphere was pleasant. We enjoyed the break on our drive home!

Pablo L.

Yelp
Good was great, service was extremely good!! Food came out very quick . Ambience was pleasant, and very friendly!!!! Overall great experience!!!!!

Seriously and he wanted me to give him good reviews and still gave me whole bunch of rice I did order yellow lentil two items together with tip it was 55$ this place is a rip off on portion and over priced!! Here's your review sir!!! Biryani was lacking flavor I had way better!!!

Yelp
We were staying at the Holiday Inn Express next door and took a chance to try Taste of India. Wow, we're so happy we did. They had a great menu with lots of choices. The staff was super friendly and even offered a few suggestions on what we might like. The food was amazing and very authentic. Do yourself a favor and go there, you won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Byron R.

Yelp
Wow was not expecting this, it's in a portion of a truck stop. The food was excellent. I had chicken curry, rice, naan, and a chia tea. The flavor of the curry was amazing. The lady that waited on me was quick but there were only two other customers. The take was very steady. Now the environment was very basic and the place was cold on a cold November day. The cost was a little pricey but compared with any other Indian restaurant it was fair. I also was not able to finish the portion served, which tell me that portion size were adequate.
google avatar

Laura C.

Yelp
The best butter chicken I've ever had came from an Indian restaurant that is beside a gas station. Never thought I'd type thought out but it's true. In town visiting the area and did a search for restaurants. My Taste of India came up. I like Indian food. Thought I'd give it a try. The location is different. I followed the map directions. Ended up at a gas station / truck repair place. Saw the sign so went into the gas station. Didn't see any food so was walking out. Someone told me the restaurant was around the corner. I debated saag paneer or butter chicken. Ordered the saag but they didn't have any. So happy with the butter chicken. Cannot explain how good it is. I'm the only non-Indian here and I think that speaks to the authenticity of the food. Wish I was going to be in town longer so I could try more dishes.
google avatar

Shervin J.

Yelp
Food is good. Menu is a little deceiving because you do not get rice with any of the dishes. We ordered 4 dishes, which are a bit more expensive than most of the other places in the area, and none of them came with rice. Every other Indian restaurant has rice with each dish so I guess we expected the same, especially considering the price per dish. I don't mind ordering rice as an add on item but the menu is confusing and I hope they update that.
google avatar

Gaz H.

Yelp
Much of the food is better than one might expect, given the location. But the rice was lousy. And this is unforgivable. It made the whole meal disappointing. Also my chicken dish had bone-in chicken, which detracted from the dish's eatability.
google avatar

Ronak P.

Yelp
Great taste no regret. I was hungry while driving back to home so decided to stop. The food quality and quantity is okay and price is reasonable. The area of improvement would be attitude of male owner whereas female owner is extremely polite. I tried cauliflower aloo and paneer tikka and we pre ordered so the food should be ready. Surprisingly it was ready and parathas were hot and fresh. The cauliflower aloo need improvement as it was a little burned which diluted the taste

Viral P.

Yelp
They are out of half of items at 7pm Saturday evening. Maybe not good for vegetarians, but I heard very good things about non-veg items.
google avatar

Cass O.

Yelp
This little gem is in at a truck stop off 81. Are you wondering how truck stop India food will taste, well dido. We almost didn't go it. After much debate we decided to give it a try! And I must say I was very impressed! I ordered the Chicken Sagg with medium spice. Next time I will get it a little spicer! The helping was big and j can't wait to enjoy the leftovers! I would love to try more from the menu!
google avatar

Vanessa L.

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise off of 81! There's so many Indian restaurants in the Harrisburg area, but they are not very close to the interstate like My Taste of India's location. And while traveling, it is nice to have something nutritious aside from the usual fast food or caffeine "fix". The restaurant is attached to a convenience store, as there's a separate entrance and one you can enter through the convenience store. It's clean, room moderate temperate with plenty of parking and was fairly busy for a Saturday around lunch. They are also very friendly, pleasant and accommodating. The menu consists of primarily northern Indian influence and has dishes listed in Indian with the clear English translation. My malai kofta was vibrant and the mild spice profile neither made me reach for a pitcher of water or put me in a carbohydrate coma. My husband remarked how his mutter paneer was also vibrant and delightful. Portions were just enough, not overbearing which was just right as we were traveling. I only regret leaving a little bit of sauce, but was simply too satisfied to order more! I loved the cool silver platters and the matching silverware as well! Haaaa. Well.... Ambience, ambience... but its perfect. Thanks for filling our bellies!
google avatar

Carl U.

Yelp
Don't be put off that this restaurant is next to a gas station! It was exceptionally delicious food. The tikka masala sauce was the creamiest I've ever tasted and the chicken was oh so tender. Friendly staff. A great interstate stop.
google avatar

Patty L.

Yelp
Even tho this place looks like a truck stop which is not, their food is plain delicious, I gave it 4 stars for price on a small portion of mango curry chicken and chicken was not meaty, it was actually no breast. My husband order the lamb which was a decent portion, it does not come with rice, it's extra, tastes like basmati but very dry Naan excellent I would preferred cut up chicken breast like they do it everywhere else, even in India Will come back next time when in town

Asha S.

Yelp
Excellent food Em route to philly or New Jersey We had Makki ki roti and saag .. really tasty ! Great service and good ambiance
google avatar

Joseph D.

Yelp
Surprising place. It's in the same building as a gas station, but the food is quite good, though not inexpensive. There is a bit coin ATM and cool mid century chairs. Staff was super nice and very accommodating of our baby. I had the lamb saag and it was buttery and delicious with tender meat and a perfect medium spice level. My wife got the mixed vegetables which were tumeric forward and not overcooked. The rice with peas was great too. Easy to get to from the highway, we will go back on our next trip down the interstate!

Eric N.

Yelp
Great find along the road. Northern Indian specialities. We liked chicken curry and saag (spinach). Clean and good service.

Christine W.

Yelp
As a vegan traveling 81 I was delighted to have found this restaurant right off the highway. I have ordered food twice by phone as we're driving. The food is superb and the service has always been polite and very accommodating to my palate. But today, when I placed my order by phone, I had a bit of brain forgetfulness and couldn't remember the word for paratha!! So I just asked for the round bread but the employee became quite impatient with me and told me all the breads are online and to go there to place my order. I apologize for forgetting a word while I'm driving and on the phone. Unfortunately I had to drive by without stopping by for the delicious food.
google avatar

Trajean S.

Yelp
I've been craving chicken vindaloo for a while and decided to give this restaurant a try I was definitely surprised to see what was delivered to me this chicken vindaloo did not have potatoes and it wasn't chicken cubes are boneless chicken it was actually whole chicken wings in the sauce not what I was expecting. Called the establishment and they told me that's how their chicken vindaloo is made and that I have to request for potatoes to be added what is obscured. Despite my displeasure the manager was able to make me another order with boneless chicken and potatoes complimentary. The sauce is very good and flavorful and their rice is done perfectly well
google avatar

Sha M.

Yelp
SAID THEY CANT MAKE THE FOOD WITHOUT SALT. Ordered 2 garlic naan & they gave me plain. Food wasnt this salty before, making it hard to eat. Ordered online. Been here 3 different times & maybe no more. The last 2 times, very salty. Customer service is always cold. I rate 3 but rated 1 to bring down the rating. Price & portion ok. Food is ok. Quality is good. Garlic naan is always good.
google avatar

Michael R.

Yelp
My man josè was so patient with me and even served me something that was off the menu. His mother used to make this dish. Everything was fresh and delicious and the hospitality was fantastic.

david c.

Yelp
trucking for about a year and a half best Indian food in the north east if u are in Pennsylvania please I repeat get the goat korma

Karan K.

Yelp
Gas station Side 'Dhabha' in Harrisburg. Must try': Chicken Malai Tikka (ask for green chutney) Fresh tandoori breads. Highly recommended for anyone loving Indian food. Will visit this whenever in that area.20 mins from Hershey park

kr a.

Yelp
I got the chicken, makke da roti, and garlic naan it was really good going back again!

P H.

Yelp
Amazing! I've lived in India and have bemoaned the lack of authentic cuisine. Well look no further. The food here is fresh, tasty and just perfectly reminiscent of what I loved about cuisine in India. Will drive over 100 miles to come back to this place. It's that good!
google avatar

Alice K.

Yelp
We love Indian food and heard about this place but were not sure about the eating in that area - well, about forget that part! The food is authentic and tasty! I am veg and I was dining with a non-veg and we both enjoyed our meal. Lots of good veggie choices and it was fresh and good. The service was friendly and quick. I wish they would do sampler plates (like a veg thali or an appetizer sampler) so one could try more dishes if not eating with a big group. I wanted to try more dishes and if you are veg eating with a non veg - that helps to have a better variety in your meal. It was a bit pricy, too, as you need to separately order rice and each bit. A few set veg / non veg meals would be nice. Or how about a buffet on the weekends? We'll be back.

Pooja S.

Yelp
Amazing food and service! I've never seen so much chai served for $4, great value for each dish. Do not be fooled by its location near a gas station. The local places always have the best food around!
