Myeongjin Jeonbok Abalone Restaurant

Visited on a November Friday lunch around 1pm. Raw abalone is hard and crunchy, highly do not recommend. We ended up cooking the raw abalone on the hotplate of the grilled abalone. The grilled abalone is really good and soft. I think with the butter gives it a better flavour. Cheese didnt add much value add flavour. Abalone porridge was really very lack luster. Thought it would be thicker but its quite watery and bland. Bowl was not even half full with porridge but with all the food we ordered it was sufficient. Stonepot abalone was better than abalone porridge but lacking in flavour as well. Every order came with a grilled mackerel fish, it was fresh and good. Service was sufficient and friendly. Small homely type of atmosphere. Overall i wouldnt specially drive back here since it so far out from everything else as well. Not very sure its so hyped on tiktok. But the seaside view outside was so beautiful and had really strong winds.

We arrived around 1:15 PM and had a short wait of about 10 minutes for our table. Upon entering, you place your order and name with the staff, who will let you know when to come back — ours was 10 minutes later. The menu is simple, and we tried the abalone rice claypot, butter abalone, and abalone sashimi. The banchan includes mackerel, which is fairly generous and tasty, though slightly on the salty side. The abalone rice claypot is absolutely delicious! There are instructions on how to enjoy it, and following them really elevates the experience — from the first bite to the last, it’s amazing. Surprisingly, about 40% of the diners were Singaporeans, which made it feel a little like home!

Spacious and clean restaurant overlooking the beautiful ocean. Not many people yet when we were there as we came early to beat the crowd. Their abalone porridge was superb. The grilled abalone was tasty and fantastic. Even their side dishes were nicely done and we could top-up if we have finished the plate. Nice area with garden, swing and carpark space.

***HOW TO QUEUE*** Go to the counter and put your name down with the lady. Need to state what you want to order also, so when they sit you they can start serving you the food. You can always add more items when you’re seated. The abalone rice in the hot stone pot is quite good and the grilled abalone is very nicely done too. Worth a visit if you’re in the area. They have a few branches around the island.

Abalone porridge was good. The grilled abalone really hit me. Soft and fresh. The raw ones are crunchy but did not taste as good as the grilled ones. The grilled mackerel was served as sides and it tasted really good. Fresh!

Went twice within a month, and the freshness of the abalone differed a lot. A local restaurant that gained online traction and has become a bit too popular. Overall not bad, but slightly overhyped in my opinion.

Enjoyed our abalone dinner here! The grilled abalone and the pot rice are really good, must order! The staff were really nice too, recommended!

Ordered the abalone porridge, grilled abalone and the dried one in hot stone pot served with rice. Preferred the dried one. Love the grilled mackerel fish as part of their table dishes as well. 😊
