Myles Pizza Pub Brings A New Style of Pizza to Greenville, South Carolina | Eater Carolinas

"Founded by Chip Myles as an “adult pizza” designed to be the centerpiece of a date night, this family-run pizzeria grew from a recipe he made for his pregnant wife into a decades-long local institution. The pies stand out for their technique: crusts are cooked on a screen then finished directly to crisp the bottom, toppings are placed raw and buried under a small mountain of cheese that melts into a crispy, flavor-sealing top, and the in-house sauce is made weekly from a secret spice blend and lightly aged for depth. Portions are substantial—each pizza is intended as a full meal (the 16-inch Lovers can weigh about 10 pounds)—though the menu also includes some non-pizza items. When the original restaurant closed after 40 years, the community’s response was overwhelming—block-long lines and overloaded phone lines—which helped convince the family to reopen in Greenville, South Carolina in December 2019 as a neighborhood destination. Strong local support, a loyal national fanbase, and a shipping program that freezes pies for 48 hours then overnight-delivers them in thermal containers helped the business survive pandemic challenges." - Sam Slaughter

Google
Pricey but worth it. Definitely not a NY style, which is my absolute favorite, but instead a hybrid of Chicago, Detroit and pan pizza. The attention to detail with every pie is impressive. If getting to go, call in the order on your way, then sit at the bar with an excellent beer selection and watch your pie get built and cooked in plain sight. Carryout is not for the weak. This pizza packs a punch and some weight.

As an Ohio native and former beer-drinking, pizza-every-day kind of person, going gluten-free after recent test results felt like a culinary heartbreak. I’ve been chasing a decent gluten-free crust ever since. This Bowling Green-born pizza joint? Total redemption. I ordered extra cheese and their gluten-free crust was phenomenal—crispy, chewy, flavorful, and honestly the best I’ve had. I never thought a gluten-free crust could rival the joy of a Neapolitan slice, but this one absolutely did. Please note the time of the picture was about an hour and a half after it was freshly baked. Can’t wait to try it when it is freshly baked.

A friend from Ohio said we had to come here while in town. We arrived before the Friday rush. Unfortunately, nobody realized we arrived. Sat down at empty bar..staff busy socializing with one another, nobody acknowledged us. Finally as a gentleman walked by we asked for menus, he didn't seem to happy in fact it took him a bit to get them. We eventually ordered. Salad was fresh , huge and really good..plenty for leftovers. Pizza came out piping hot..very cheesy with crispy crust. Staff continued to be preoccupied with each other, even tasting some of the beers. Suggestion...get take out!! Food good, customer service severely lacking!

Google
I've heard alot about this place and finally made it, and not disappointed! Went for lunch and got a 6" personal pizza (pepperoni and fresh mushrooms) with a salad. Salad dressing made in house, Greek and Ceasar both delicious. The pizza...sauce amazing with tons of flavor and a little spice. Plenty of cheese on top and dough was cooked to perfection, not to thin or to thick, with a crunch! Would like to go back and try some the sandwiches!

This restaurant has quickly become our favorite place. The gluten-free pizza is amazing and we’re able to split the small one between the two of us. He likes it just as much as the regular pizza so it works out perfect. The sauce is a little bit more spicy than regular sauce it’s more of a date night place than a place you take kids. Though I think we will take my kids sometime and see what they think of it. It has so much cheese. It’s so delicious. I cannot express to you. How good it is. I’ve been gluten-free for a decade and I was moved to tears upon my first bite. The owner and his daughter are adorable and the manager is great. Everyone is friendly and your drink never goes dry.

Finally got a chance to check out Myles Pizza Pub after seeing amazing looking pictures of it on social media. Myles Pizza Pub was originally in Bowling Green OH for many years before relocating to Greenville. PMQ has a good article detailing their journey. We enjoyed the cheesebread loaf and had high expectations for the pizza. While we did like it, the sauce was not our favorite. It is very distinctive, almost like a spaghetti sauce. I saw one review that said “I love cheese on pizza, but the sauce tasted like Ragu” and that assessment rings true to me. The ambience is perfect, staff were all super nice and just a nice place to have a meal. There is a bar, and both indoor and outdoor seating. If you love cheese on your pizza, I would definitely recommend you try it out if in the area! Myles Pizza is on a lot of people’s best pizza in Greenville list! Oh and I really enjoyed the music in there as well!

Google
Amazing!!! Tried this place for the first time tonight and it tastes even better than it looks! Food was amazing, service was outstanding! Just waiting on our warm fresh baked cookies! 🤤 Will definitely be back.

Google
Had the best cheesy garlic bread and a special pizza called “ButterMeUp!” And it blew me away with how yummy it was- never have I had butter chicken in the form of a pizza- until today!

Yelp
5 stars for the lunch experience! Friday at lunch hour, hit the door at 12:09. Pretty open seating, but those 11 big, comfortable bar seats were inviting, with only one other occupied. Since the bartender was active in serving tables along with the host, the bar seemed like a great choice for my part of just me. I was immediately provided a menu and drink and by 12:11 my order of a six inch two topping pizza with side salad was in the system. And it's a good deal for $14.50 (no drink included). By 12:14 my salad arrives and it is a nice mix of arugula, spinach, radicchio with sliced cherry tomatoes and a half hard boiled egg cut into thirds, side dressing or ranch. This is a healthy portion for a side salad. 12:24 salad finished, plate cleared and 12:28 my pizza clears the oven and is on the pass window. By 12:30 it's in front of me with shakers of grated Parmesan and red chili pepper accompanying. They self-describe their pizza style as "Ohio style." Which means, thicker vs thinner, crispy bottom, slightly chewy/doughier center or middle, sauce (in this order), fresh toppings, cheese on top. Their sauce is made in house with their own "secret" recipe and it is aged for the week - meaning made in a large batch the end of the week before so the flavors can get well acquainted and improve with a couple of days to mellow through. Their sauce cheese is a cheese blend, also made in house. Their sauce sauce is slightly sweet, very slightly spicy in a tangy way and generously applied. It is also molten hot out of the oven. The cheese is bubbly and getting good color in the oven and a significant distinction is that it is cheesed edge to edge. There is no significant pizza edge here, which I credit as a good thing, it is a full pizza. The actual edge does have an extra crunch to it, but it is much more of a part of the pizza than those "pizza bones" edges you see elsewhere that only half of the folks eat. Although there was one girl I knew 35 years ago in college who exclusively liked the crust remains. She probably wouldn't appreciate the thoroughness of these pizza proportions. I did get a mid-meal check in, "everything good" from the bartender and an "all done" at the end, which is just enough attention, after all, I came here to have a hot, good, quick meal and get some alone time before going back to the office. Perfect. By 12:51 I'm on my way. The portion is very good, almost thought to get a box to go for that last slice, but soldiered through it to enjoy this Ohio style pizza. This is a good lunch value, feels healthier with the salad, hits the timing just right and has the value and quality marks too.

Yelp
Good Ohio style pizza. Nice environment and friendly staff. I'd go again if I was in the area. It's just not worth another long haul specifically to try a pizza place I haven't been to before.

Yelp
So the man behind the scene has been doing this for over 40 years. He makes everything by hand. Sauce, sausage, dough etc. I think he knows what he's doing. Anyway, from the moment you come in, the staff gives you a warm welcome. There are a few things on the menu. I ordered the 6 inch pizza with 2 topping. It was piled high with cheese and sauce. The sauce had a little twang, which was nice. I sat at the bar where they have a big selection of TV shows on. The music, on this day, was some really good rock oldies. The service was excellent. The outside was a little bit hard to identify as Kyle's. At least I didn't see a sign while driving by. But quite obvious it was the right place. The food was good. I would go back the next time I'm in town. Price was good for a lunch special. Totally a family owned restaurant and family friendly.

Yelp
This place has very tasty pizza, I tried it for the first time with an online order of their "small" 9 inch pie. As soon as I was handed the box I knew it would last me a good 2 meals. They were generous in the cheese and sauce portions. The restaurant seems to be a family business/small place. I saw staff in the back making the dough/putting pizzas in the oven. The restaurant is also full service, so larger families can have a good night out with wait staff. The pizza was tasty and fresh, but I felt a bit funny after I ate it. I eat very clean and avoid toxic seed oils (canola oil, soybean oil, corn oil). If the ingredients were a bit cleaner I'd be a weekly customer.

Yelp
Myles Pizza pub is the best pizza I've found in Greenville so far. It reminds me of my favorite pizza place when I was growing up. It's a nice thick pizza with a lot of cheese and flavor. While I haven't been to the restaurant to eat the food has been incredible every time I've gotten it. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Happened upon here on at Saturday around 5. It was crowded (a great sign). Pizza was great. My husband said it was the best in Greenville. We had an everything and ordered a cheese for our grandson. On the spendy side but worth it.
google avatar

Aileen A.

Yelp
The garlic bread?! AMAZING. Pizza? Delishhhh Went on a Saturday night before the dinner rush and were seated immediately. Service was attentive. First timers and honestly assumed a "hole in the wall" establishment but it is a stand alone building with lots of seating available. Heaters in the patio too but it was closed off anyways. They even have frozen pies and garlic bread to take home. We definitely took home a garlic bread on the way out lol
google avatar

Cheryl M.

Yelp
Cheesy pizza made with love. Tremendous garlic rolls. Not my favorite pizza in town but definitely hits the spot when a pizza craving hits.
google avatar

Lindsay S.

Yelp
I've heard a lot of people talking about this place so I thought I'd give it a try! I sat at the bar and had a lovely conversation with the bartender. The pizza was good! A little pricey but you definitely get your $$ worth. The ambiance was a bit noisy but it's also dinner time for families, on the weekend, so to be expected.
google avatar

Chris A.

Yelp
Wow, I don't know how more people don't know about Myles but they have to have the top 2 or 3 pizza in Greenville. So good and very good pricing. It is always nice to get them but I go into a food coma after a few slices...in a good way.
google avatar

Madison M.

Yelp
Good spot for unique style of pizza! We typically call ahead and order it to-go. They have great garlic bread & the marinara sauce they use is great, has lots of flavor. I think that base is also what sets the pizza apart. Lots of cheese and big, generous size - very filling after a couple slices!!! This time we tried the tikki masala pizza with chicken as it is apparently a best seller. It was good if you like Indian curry flavors! I'm more traditional with pizza so I prefer supreme but we enjoyed both!
google avatar

Robin E.

Yelp
Our first time dining at Myles and will not be our last. Best pizza in town! Service was excellent!!!
google avatar

Tazeen S.

Yelp
I love that the owner still not just walks around but actually works. Probably the most busy person in the shop. Never idle. Always working. Great pizza. Would go back.
google avatar

Jennifer S.

Yelp
The pizza was amazing but the garlic cheesy bread is fantastic!!!!! It didn't take long to get our food and the servers are nice! I enjoyed the music and appreciated that there were TVs! 10/10!

Mary Jo G.

Yelp
service great! very friendly! pizza is quite thick, I prefer thin and crispy, so it's not my fav. the ingredients are very fresh! it's just too much going on for a pizza. we ordered our pizza to go and it was super hot and stayed hot until we got home.

Kathleen M.

Yelp
Great food - especially the garlic loaf. Waitress was so nice. We live near Detroit and it was recommended to us...great find.
google avatar

Debora S.

Yelp
The cheese pull is good but there's not much flavor me me and I couldn't get over the "doneness". $20 for a 9 in burnt pizza is a lot for me. I knew was something was up when I smelled smoke. Lol. Probably would given 3.5 stars if that option was given.

Henri B.

Yelp
Not much on atmosphere, but dang good pizza! I stopped in for lunch because I was nearby. I was taken aback by the prices of the pizzas until my food arrived. I'm a big guy with a big appetite, but couldn't finish the 12" pie because it was so loaded with deliciousness! Owner told me the large meat lovers pizza has 4 lbs of toppings! Service was good and owner was attentive. Can't tell you about the pub part since I am not a drinker.

Sherry K.

Yelp
Excellent pizza made to order. Service was excellent and quality was amazing True pizzeria! Thank you Myles, for bringing your business to Greenville, SC

Bonnie S.

Yelp
The pizza is just so so. Not your typical NY style pizza. The crust is thick, and the ingredients get lost on top of the pizza. We ordered for pick up the service was good.
google avatar

Beth M.

Yelp
I really have loved coming to Myles in the past. Today, our pretzel came out overcooked and too hard to chew. The pizza took a long time to come out. Once it did arrive, a hair was found in our pizza. When the manager was informed, she stated "we are all human and this kind of thing happens" Completely unacceptable! On the good side, our waitress was amazing and very understanding of the matter.
google avatar

Crystal P.

Yelp
Very good pizza with nice lunch specials. We had great service during busy lunch time. We ordered a plain cheese, meat lovers and Hawaiian. Everyone liked their food. Pizza has a thicker crust, marinara sauce was very good.
google avatar

Todd G.

Yelp
The great Myles tradition started in BG continues in South Carolina. The garlic bread is fantastic
google avatar

Dawn M.

Yelp
This was the second time I have ordered from them. The first time was good so I ordered again thru Door dash this time. The delivery went fine but when I opened the pizza it was totally black on the bottom. Like a charcoal brick. Totally inedible. I paid over 50 bucks for this pizza (that went right into the trash) a root beer and a ranch. DOOR DASH gave me a generous 10 credit. So I'm out over 40 on this "lunch". I don't know why anyone would think this is OK to serve. Really disappointed in this place.
google avatar

Gregg H.

Yelp
I really really wanted to love this place. The only issue I had was the pizza was burnt on some parts. I don't mean crisp, I mean burnt. This gave the entire pizza a not very subtle burnt taste. The toppings were plenty and the cheese was melted to perfection! Service was outstanding. I will give them another shot.
google avatar

Vakista G.

Yelp
My first visit was very pleasant. The cashier was nice and answered my questions. I sat at the bar to wait on my food and the guy ( didn't ask his name) brought me a water while I waited and was very polite. The garlic bread was amazing and the pizza was delicious. Would highly recommended.

Mark H.

Yelp
great pizza, friendly staff- comfortable dining area. The parking lot is tricky when approaching from the North. The left turn lane disappears before the parking lot access, and oncoming traffic approaches quickly coming over a hill. Be careful!
google avatar

Tim C.

Yelp
I mean it when I say that this is the best pizza to ever enter my mouth. The service was great too--constantly refilled waters and brought things out ASAP. Plus the building is cute with cute decor and good seating both inside and out. 10/10 will pizza again.

Mike L.

Yelp
Forget all the rest this is the Best pizza in Greenville,SC. Small beer selection but can usually find one that I like.

Kirsten G.

Yelp
My mother, grandmother and myself decided to treat ourselves to lunch today. We ordered a small 9" pizza with two toppings, a BLT sandwich and some garlic bread. $60. The pizza crust was burnt, the garlic bread is two slices of thick cut bread with garlic powder on top and served with cold pizza sauce. The BLT was just as bad. The service was mediocre. Our waiter just seemed like he didn't care and didn't want to be there, almost bothered by our presence. The ambiance is fine, decent music playing in the background. Just overall not great, not good and barely okay. May I suggest finding another place to eat.
google avatar

Paul J.

Yelp
Best pizza ever. Drive 359 miles for Myles! The garlic bread with cheese will change you life.
google avatar

David B.

Yelp
Finally tried Myles. Toppings run out to edge, TONS of cheese and unique sweet sauce. Very clean and cool interior. Friendly service. Enjoyed sitting at bar. 2 of us housed the entire pizza. Yum
google avatar

H C.

Yelp
Love it! The pizza is sooo good! It's even better if you order it crispy/well done. That way the crust stays crunchy, even the next day!
google avatar

Lindsay J.

Yelp
Ahhh cheesy saucey goodness! First Myles pizza is a resounding ! Amazing sauce, perfect layer of cheese, high quality toppings: all dipped in the perfect home-made ranch dressing. So happy.

Yelp
So, back in the day, this was what I lived for. My small pepperoni and onion pizza from Myles (whose old phone number I can still recite) and garlic bread with cheese if it was a good week. I was in college in Bowling Green, OH and this was (in my opinion) THE place to get pizza. Many years later, that place closed and they ended up relocating to South Carolina. Anyway. I was going to visit a friend in North Carolina and carefully planned my trip to swing by here. You know, for old time's sake. Well, I finally got there and it's kind of dead, but it was a Wednesday afternoon. I didn't care. I was going to have my pizza! It looked basically the same. Still a ton of cheese. Still tasty, but not quite right. I've spent way too much time thinking about this, but I think I've got it. The ovens. Conveyor belt ovens, as far as I'm concerned, ruin pizza. Back in the day, I'm pretty sure Myles had deck ovens. It makes a difference. Heck, even Domino's pizza was edible when they had deck ovens. But I digress. (Very) long story short -- I should have left well enough alone. The server was nice and all, but the whole vibe was off. Well, for me. This is kind of like the food version of you can't go home again. I hope they continue to do well. Many people in the area like them and it is better than any chain pizza place. I wish I could give more than three stars. For me, it just fell flat. But, you might like it. If you never had the other.
google avatar

Dana B.

Yelp
My husband and I are pizza snobs. I prefer NY, he enjoys Chicago. We can both agree that this pizza is exceptional for both our palates. The ingredients were very fresh. TONS of cheese. The crust was crunchy and the sauce was just the right amount. We did not eat in the restaurant so we cannot speak to the service, but if the taste of the product is any indication, it has to be top notch! We will definitely order again. Great find!

Sue T.

Yelp
We ordered the Mexican pizza with garlic butter and it was probably the best pizza I've ever had. The crust is amazing and toppings are plentiful. Even reheated it was great.
google avatar

Melissa R.

Yelp
We saw a write up on this restaurant and had to try it out! Excellent service and great pizza. We had our go to pizza of pepperoni and green olives. We also order cheese bread which very different but also really good. We will definitely be back. I'm going to try the smaller pizza with a different sauce. I'm quite sensitive to pepper so the regular sauce was a little spicy for me. My husband loved the sauce. And if you're a cheese lover you'll be happy.
google avatar

Greg P.

Yelp
Outstanding! I ordered the Italian sandwich, the smell of pizza baking and seeing those pizza pies delivered to the tables around me with all of that bubbly cheese on top quickly had me wishing that I had ordered the pizza instead. When my sandwich arrived it seemed small but for just under $9 it seemed pretty fair. As soon as I picked up the first half I felt the substantial weight of it. As I looked inside the first half it was just as high as it was wide! They put an ample amount of meat the top and bottom of the ciabatta roll, covered both with cheese and baked them in the oven until golden and bubbly! Then they added the cold toppings and put them both together! This is the way a real sandwich should be made! I want to come back and try the pizza but I can not imagine not ordering the Italian Sandwich again. I guess I'll have to bring a friend so we can get both and share!
google avatar

Mary F.

Yelp
I can't believe how disappointed I was finally getting home to get my pizza. I drove an hour to pick it up because I've only heard good things about this place. I get a 16" meat lovers and it looked amazing. It was over pouring with sauce and just mediocre. I paid $30 for a pizza I only had a couple bites of.
google avatar

J R.

Yelp
Greenville's best pizza. I'd come here every day if I could. I tried a make-your-own with extra cheese and pepperoni, but my girlfriend has tried a bunch of the pre-selected pizzas and says they're all terrific. Service was outstanding, warm, and friendly. They listen to you when you say you want two blue cheeses and two ranches :) The sauce is what separates this place from Greenville's other fine pizza places. I was thrilled with it.
google avatar

Kayla T.

Yelp
Finally had Myles! Curbside of course. I knew it was real when she handed me the two pizza boxes. Get were heavy! We got two 16" for four adults and one child. We all ate an equalizing of one 16". These slices are heavy with toppings. Full bellies QUICK! We did the Spice Loves and Meat Lovers. I enjoyed the Spice lovers the most. The Italian sausage added a nice level of flavor. These huge pies we're topped with plenty of fresh cheese and tucked in piles of toppings. Next time I will add some veggies up under there. Bell Peppers and Onions would be delicious with the Spice Lovers. I also love that the crust isn't this mountain of bread at the end of the slice getting you full fast. The toppings are the star here. A nice low-level crust level more room for more PIZZA! I'll be back Myles. Keep up the great job amongst the COVID Choas!

Bonnie W.

Yelp
Best pizza around since moving from her from SE FL where there is an abundance of great NY & Chicago pizza. Slim pickings up here where many tell you the pizza is good only to find out it should not even be called pizza. Myles is not only great pizza, but great service, outside seating and just an all around great dining experience!
google avatar

Dan W.

Yelp
Great new location. Very easy to access and park and nice inside. We arrived a little before they opened and there were already 5-6 cars of patrons. Menu wasn't overcrowded with lots of extra things that aren't pizza related. We ordered the small garlic bread with cheese ($8) and a 12" Wild West Pizza ($23) - ground bison, mushrooms, bacon - both were amazing. Our waitress (Jazlynn) was also very attentive. We will be back for sure!!

Yelp
Wow! I haven't written a review in quite a while, but Myles Pizza Pub has brought me back to Yelp with a vengeance. In a good way. So if you've read other reviews of mine, you know I start with beverages and this will be the same; they've gone with Pepsi products plus Dr Pepper as well as a good selection of beers and wines. I didn't try the sweet tea as I usually do since my kidneys have started saying I can't drink that much anymore, but everything seemed pretty good. We started with open-faced garlic bread. HOLEY-MOLEY! A crunchy crust, soft bread, butter, garlic, cheese, cheese, cheese, and cheese. One in our party of 4 said that this was a bit too salty, but I disagreed. A++ The Pizza: Myles Pizza is last meal quality. It is thick, has some crunch (great crust), a nice tangy sauce generously ladled on, quality toppings (all together our toppings included pepperoni, salami, ground beef, green olives, black olives, fresh mushrooms, green pepper, ham, and sausage) and epic amounts of cheese. Now, this was not an inexpensive meal, but there are times you need to treat yo'self. This food is hearty, delicious, and downright delightful and the staff was wonderful. Now all they have to do us get a sign for the building. May be the best pizza I've ever had. Two years ago we did a different international cuisine every month, last year we did a meat&3 every month, this year it's pizza. Myles Pizza Pub starts us not with a bang, but with a neutron explosion! Epic!

Yelp
Our first visit didn't turn out as we would have liked. Friday night, party of 9 seated in patio on a cool evening. Patio heaters were on and barely doing the job. Server said it could be as much as an hour that the ovens were full. (Too many tables or too few ovens) Server did a nice job of handling drink orders, catering to three kids and taking dinner order. Typical menu for a pizza place except that no substitutions were allowed on the specialty pizzas. The everything pizza was loaded and so was the price. There should be a more affordable offering. All in all, the pizzas were good, not exceptional but good. Service was great. There are more suitable places closer to home so I will have to break my rule of giving a place a second chance.
google avatar

Christopher S.

Yelp
Where do I start? I try not to go here as often as I want to because let's just say I'd have to go to the gym and who has time for that? In all seriousness, this is some of the best Pizza in Greenville. It's original, the sauce has just enough kick and sweetness the cheese is the freshest they can find bread made in house dough that is across between postal and deep dish. Portions are huge. The staff and owner are friendly and welcoming.

Yelp
Ok so...I've lived just about everywhere in the US. Northeast, Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, Pacific Northwest...and some other random areas (Michigan, Colorado), along with traveling to much of the US, so I was confident I understood most major regional differences in pizza. As such, I was curious what difference Ohio could bring to the pizza-pie when they came to Greenville. And boy was I surprised, Ohio! So here's my attempt at clarifying: 1. Think Chicago crust - thicker crust with that burnt cheese edge which merges crust and cheese into a unique crispy-burnt edge 2. Sauce- thick layer of sauce- between crust and toppings- due to amount of sauce, reminds me more of spaghetti sauce vs that super thin layer of sauce on a typical NY pizza... but under the toppings, unlike Chicago pizza 3. Toppings- you'll find all your toppings sandwiched between your sauce and cheese. 4. Cheese- SO MUCH CHEESE! Piled on top of everything else is a massive amount of cheese. I mean...CHEESE So what should you order? At an average "NY style " pizza joint in Greenville, my husband and I will order a 10-12 in pie to split between the 2 of us (maybe with a side salad, and we'll have a piece or 2 for lunch the next day). Myles ordering: we started with the Greek salad. Halfway in, we were packing up salad for tomorrow (delicious, but definitely an appetizer salad for 4 or more). Pizza: holy smokes! Splitting a small (9 in) pizza would've been plenty for two hearty eaters (with salad), with leftovers, for sure. Not knowing, we substantially over ordered (lunch for days!!!). In closing...a completely unique Greenville pizza experience...an with spacious interior, as well as shaded exterior seating (and to-go), certainly worth expanding your regular family pizza experience to include...who knew?...OHIO pizza!

Greg F.

Yelp
Amazing food, unique pizza with tons of cheese and toppings, best pizza I've ever had.
