Mystic & Noank Library

Such a beautiful library! The staff were so kind to my husband and I and they had such a great selection of books. I have to say that my favorite part of the whole building were the two adorable fur babies! 😭

Pretty much everything about this library is EXCELLENT! Besides the usual and expected digital resources such as access to the Internet and free WiFi, the venue is gorgeous! I felt like I was taking a mini-vacation at some beautiful country lodge. Lots of big comfortable chairs, ample wood construction and (for me) adding to the charm and good feeling, two friendly cats that have made it their home. All that’s missing is an open raging fireplace which probably wouldn’t be the best of ideas in a house of books. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful and at least as friendly as the cats. If they don’t have what you’re looking for they’ll try their best to find it. Kudos to all involved.

Mystic & Noank Library is one of my favourite places in Mystic, CT. The staff (Margaret and Parker) are so welcoming and friendly. They have two chilled feline friends. The building itself is gorgeous architecture. The first thing I did when I moved here, join the library. It’s just behind the big church from Mystic Pizza, so not far from downtown Mystic.

Really nice people. Me and my kids always have a great visit here. Such a beautiful display window inside the building. Great study 📖 nooks.

Charming library in historic building (built 1893, on the National Registry). Fireplace and library cats really make it inviting. Nice staff, wonderful ambience.

Awesome friendly staff, great local history resources, and a beautiful building to boot! I love sitting and reading in the big comfy chairs with the beautiful views of downtown Mystic out the windows. Also, and this is clutch, they have real live library cats that live on the second floor! What's better than a library where you have the possibility of cat snuggles? I submit that there is nothing better!!!

Very good library to get some work done. Great WiFi internet speeds of 300bps up and 200 Mbps down. Comfortable tables and chairs to work on your laptop.

Such a great library. Everyone is helpful, its cozy and quiet. Its also beautiful. So lucky to live near this place. They also have two cats.

A magnificent library The idea fom this stunning building started back in 1891 when Captain Elihu Spicer decided that his home town needed a library. So he donated money and ideas and by 1894 the Mystic and Noank Library was open for business. The good Captain Spicer started out as a cabin boy at an early age and eventually became masters of several ships and acquired quite a fortune. He became a philanthropist in his later years and spread his wealth around generously. The library that was built is absolutely magnificent. Granite was moved by barge from quarries in Ct., sandstone from Ma., marble from as far away as Africa and tile floors from Italy. This is more of a palace than a library and the building is worth seeing even if you have no interest in books. The place is stunning both inside and outside. The building was expanded in 1951 and another 6,000 ft were added in 1992. The architects did a fantastic job and the venerable building retains its stately, archaic and majestic flavor but has all the conveniences and amenities of a modern library. Truly the best of the old and the new. A grand place to savor, enjoy and be amazed at, libraries like this will never be constructed again.

My family spends a lot of time here. It is a very neat building with a lot of history. They always have fun programs going each month for all ages, as well as movie nights, Wii game nights, crafts- one of our favorite's is "make a plate" that is coming up soon! We've made one every year that we have lived here. The summer reading program is a lot of fun, they offer games with challenges and prizes, it's very well organized and keeps my kids excited to read all summer long. Great selection of books for all! Staff is friendly & helpful (:
