Simply an outstanding restaurant run by the kindest family. We’ve dined in, and we’ve catered major events with Mystic and it’s always a stellar experience. Please give them a shot and support their local family business.

Google
Our first trip to Mystic Grill! My husband ordered Shawarma chicken & beef plate, I ordered the shawarma chicken salad- both were good. The meat was especially good the rest okay. Salad was very good. Pita bread could be improved. Not all soda options available.

Google
Good quality some things taste great other taste good. The hummus they serve is a bit cold but really good. Falafels taste okay. Their food used to taste way better.

Amazing food. Got the chicken Shawarma, stuffed grape leaves and hummus. Would come back. Flavor was great with everything we had. Everything prepared very fresh for you.

Google
The food was good. Lots of seating. Price was pretty good as well. I say give it a try if you haven’t been here before. I plan to try a few other places in the area to see what the competition is like. But this wasn’t bad.

Wife & I love Mediterranean style cuisine! Great variety, selection, and tastes! Food is great… always a 10!

Google
I always a little hesitant at first to paying this pace a visit, but I knew I would give it a try eventually, considering I always passed it on the way home. This place did not disappoint! Portions for the prize are very generous and the quality of food was good. I got the Shawarma Wrap while my girlfriend got the chicken kabob combo. Let the photo speak for itself, but will definitely come back soon!! Staff is also friendly and dining area is modest and well put.

Google
Always great service with the staff from the front end to the cook. The owner is a nice guy. Gyros are great. We been eating here for at least 20 years or more.

Yelp
Service:: Great customer service, very kind people Ambiance:: it's pretty chill, no music inside but not noise. They have booths for sitting if you want to eat in and bathrooms as well. Food::: I always get pizza because it's fresh, simple and the pepperoni is beef. It's 9.99 for a whole pizza, plenty of toppings available. You can order online or on the phone (usually how I order to go). They have lots of desserts as well. I've been coming here for st least ten years. 10/10 would really recommend!

Yelp
I'm bothered by Mystic Grill and Bakery in part because they used to sell some of the best chicken tikka in the County, but now, it's over-spiced and over-cooked, and there's a better than even chance that while you're ordering or waiting to be served, someone behind the counter will look at you like you're ghayit. Weak tikka. Mediocre shawarma. Bland baked goods. Crappy service. It's sad to see a good place fall apart. The good news? There's little that you can buy at Mystic Grill and Bakery that you won't find done better - and served up with a better attitude - at The Grill at Vine Ripe, the Charcoal House (on the other side of Grossmont Hospital) or, if you have an extra ten minutes to drive to El Cajon, about fifty other places. In fact, now that Sagmani's is open again, and Saray has improved their kitchen staff, the only reasons I can see to eat at Mystic Grill are a) you live across the street; b) someone else is buying, or, c) your car broke down in their parking lot and you're waiting for a tow.

Yelp
Good portion size! I can usually split one entree plate for two meals. I got the beef shawarma plate. There are quite a lot of onions mixed into the meat which isn't my favorite, but the meat is always cooked to perfection. Large-sized pita bread to go with the hummus which tastes very smooth and creamy. It was a bit busier than normal when I came around lunch time, but they were able to get my order ready in ~10-15 min! Very casual restaurant, seemed like most people were taking their food to-go/picking up. Parking out front is on a hill/at the corner of the block which can sometimes get crowded depending on time of day. Will be back again!

Yelp
Great good, reasonable priced and never disappoints! The chicken kabob is amazing! Go!!

Yelp
Food: tasty falafel wrap (replace yogurt with hummus) and it comes with a side salad or fries. The wrap they use is like a burrito wrap, not a pita. Service: when I ordered I asked the girl if there was any sauce with dairy in the falafel wrap and she checked and said no. Shortly after we hang up, I get a call back from a gentleman saying there IS a sauce with dairy in it and he can replace it with hummus. Perfect! I was really impressed with this customer service!

Yelp
This place has been rock solid in all my visits. Although they have been wildly spaced apart, nothing has changed a bit. Consistency is totally important, and they get this. It sure has been nice to see a worthy Mediterranean spot thriving after all these years. It all started a decade? ago with the pizza, at the time the new spot nearby with the great value. I felt it was a healthier style of pizza, with and thinner crust, less cheese and heavy toppings. However, I do remember if you order pepperoni on your pizza, it is beef pepperoni. This will be different tasting of course, and have ordered mostly veggie options since. I believe a large 2- topping pizza is an ongoing deal for only 7.99. Over the years, we moved on to falafel, hummus and the shawarma platter which have all been tasty and prepared well, my favorite being the hummus. For sure, I'm no hummus guru, but among the many(10 at least)I've tried, it is the best I've had! Amazingly smooth and creamy, with a slight nutty flavor that's unparalleled. I make sure I have extra pita bread at the ready to finish it off the following day.. Next up, the desserts and baklava. You will finish whatever you bite.. so tasty good. For some reason, I never posted pics of any of these it appears and I can only guess it was a dessert- first kind of day. Are you with me? A good incentive now is it's within walking distance for me- a plus too, since this is a new, fresh way to burn a few calories and save gas with the ridiculous prices we are experiencing.

Yelp
Food was decent except the hard store bought pita bread ruined it for me. Hopefully they will change that!

Yelp
Service 1/5 Food 3/5 Phoned in an order was told by a not so friend woman that it would take 10-15 minutes. Arrived around the 15 min mark, checked in paid and was told couple more minutes. After 5 min the not so friendly worker advised that the chicken plate I ordered is all out and if I would like something else? Seriously? It took them now total of 20 min to tell me one of the plates I ordered is all out? So obviously still hungry and annoyed decided on a different chicken combo. Another 20 minutes go by and I finally received my order! While waiting I observed that the young lady working that night was only friendly to certain people while others she was not what I would call "customer service friendly". When she Finally gave me my order, there was no apology, not even a Thank you. I love to support local business but when me as the customer feels like I'm the one inconvincing the staff I'd rather spend my money where it's appreciated.

Yelp
Drove by many times after work so came here during lunch hour. Got the trout plate and was delicious! Perfectly cooked. The hot sauce gave it a nice kick

Yelp
I was visiting my home town of San Diego and was in La Mesa visiting a friend. I came across Mystic Grill and Bakery, which looks like it has been around for awhile. Which says something because so many restaurants couldn't survive Covid. The decor is quite plain, but the food was fabulous. I had the gyros salad, and what impressed me is that the salad was super crisp and fresh. And the gyro meet was plentiful and well-seasoned. The amount of dressing and feta was just right. Mediterranean is one of my favorite kinds of food, so I've had plenty of experience with it. And I was very impressed with Mystic. A variety of selections and homemade treats and hand pies (the spinach one was also delicious) made me wish this place was in Northern California.

Yelp
A Delightful Culinary Adventure at Mystic Grill My recent visit to Mystic Grill left me thoroughly impressed with their culinary offerings, particularly their gyro plate and salmon dishes. While I found the overall experience to be above average, these two menu items truly stood out and showcased the restaurant's dedication to quality flavors and enticing presentations. Let's start with the gyro plate--a true Mediterranean delight! The gyro meat was beautifully seasoned, tender, and succulent. Each bite was packed with a harmonious blend of spices and flavors that transported me to the vibrant streets of Greece. The pita bread was fresh and warm, providing the perfect vessel to enjoy the gyro meat along with the accompanying house sauce and crisp vegetables. The combination of flavors was satisfying, and the generous portion size of rice left me feeling satisfied. Moving on to the salmon dish, Mystic Grill proved their expertise in preparing seafood. The salmon fillet was cooked to perfection--moist, flaky, and infused with a delicate smoky flavor. The accompanying lemon butter sauce added a zesty tang that complemented the richness of the fish beautifully. The dish was elegantly presented with a side salad, and humus with peta beard. The freshness and quality of the ingredients were evident, and I appreciated the attention to detail in each element of the dish. The service at Mystic Grill was attentive and friendly. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu and readily provided recommendations based on personal preferences. Overall, Mystic Grill deserves recognition for their gyro plate and salmon dishes, which left a lasting impression. If you're in the mood for Mediterranean flavors or crave a well-prepared salmon dish, Mystic Grill is certainly worth a visit. While some menu items may not reach the same level of excellence, the overall dining experience and the standout dishes make it a worthwhile destination for a delightful culinary adventure.

Yelp
Food is not too bad. But the service needs Major Improvement!! They never Ever honor they're hours of operation. I regularly get turned away and told I cant place an order eventhough I arrive 2 to 2 1/2 hours before closing time. So if you are in the mood for Mediterranean food. Do not, I REPEAT; DO NOT MAKE PLANS TO EAT HERE FOR DINNER!! This place is for lunch and early dinners only if not they will push u out the door no hesitation. Make sure to arrive 3 hours before closing time or risk making the long drive for nothing because they will say no. Although u see the rotisseries going, lights on, and doors wide open. U have been warned!!!

Yelp
Ordered the Sharma bites. Just really disappointing. Drowned in a sauce that was closer to mayo than a garlic sauce. I got a side of fries with no salt. The mystic grill off of balboa is a much better than this location.

Yelp
It is early on a Saturday morning and I'm writing a Yelp review for this place as I'm getting the leftovers out for breakfast because it was that delicious for dinner. Ordered takeout. The online ordering/payment/confirmation/text system is incredibly annoying and in this day and age there is no excuse for it. Was a bit concerned to receive a text after ordering that said, "Hi, Your Order was submitted. If you do not receive a text message confirmation that it was received by the restaurant in 5 minutes, please call the restaurant at 619..." Thankfully, we were deemed worthy and we received a confirmation text saying the wait time for our order was 45 minutes. Well, it was worth the weird ordering process and wait. I knew the meal was going to be incredible because it smelled insanely delicious in the car on the way home. We ordered a chicken shawarma wrap, fries, gyros plate, meat pies, falafel side, and box of baklava. The gyros were tender, but not greasy and came with a huge serving of long grain saffron rice, dry (not fluffy) pita, creamy hummus heavy on the tahini, and a crisp salad with cucumber and tomato slices. The slightly creamy dressing on the salad is fantastic. They need to bottle and sell it. Falafel was hot and crisp. Husband loved his meat pies, fries, and wrap. Fries were packed with foil and care so that they were still hot and crisp when we got home with the food. They provided a lot of the creamy pink slightly spicy sauce which we used on everything after we tasted it. Not sure what that sauce is, but OH MY GOODNESS! The baklava was flaky and packed with pistachios and wasn't too wet. Food was a 5, docked a star for the ordering process. We have driven by this place a zillion times and shouldn't have waited to try it.

Yelp
This place used to be good, but they've gone way down hill. Tonight I waited 45 minutes for two dinners I ordered over the phone, which I was told would be ready in 15 minutes. No apologies for the delay, and they forgot to include pita bread with the dinners. They also don't accept online orders without calling the restaurant to confirm you actually placed your order online. SMH.

Yelp
The food is fresh & delicious! Never tried the pizza but it seems to be a big hit. The Mediterranean food has always been what I order and I highly recommend.

Yelp
Great Mediterranean food! Ordered the Beef Kufta Kebab plate; comes with hummus, saffron rice, Greek salad, two beef kafta kebabs and a pita bread. I started with the salad; not sure what the dressing was on it but it was so tasty. The hummus was smooth and thick and was also delicious! The beef was very well seasoned and had so much flavor as did the saffron rice (my favorite). The staff was very friendly and helpful. Fantastic customer service! I definitely found my new 'Go To Place' for Mediterranean food in San Diego.

Yelp
Neighborhood spot for fresh and delish Mediterranean cuisine. Call ahead and place your order to go for faster service. Ample seating to dine in and great atmosphere. Staff is nice and friendly and the food was tasty.

Yelp
This place is delicious! The prices are great for the portions and the food was really good. My husband ordered the chicken shawarma and he said it was good, but not the best. I ordered the falafel wrap and my boys ordered just a plate of chicken, rice and humus. We both loved it. My favorite part was their red sauce. It made the meal for me. I a huge fan of spicy, with flavor and this definitely hit the mark. Their baklava was good and I really liked their coconut cheese pastry...I forgot the name but it was good! The service was good too. The cashier was patient with me despite me taking a few minutes to order and adding a few things last minute lol. Parking was good too!

Yelp
I've always seen this place, it has been around since I was a kid but this was my first time eating here. I ordered the gyro sandwich wrap and it was delicious, I'll definitely be back.
google avatar

Wynesha K.

Yelp
The food was good. I wish my gyro meat was hot & not luke warm (I ate it in my car immediately) and pita could have been soft and the other food temperatures were ok. The felafel was made to order but had to request the sauce that was to come with it. Picture of the sauce was deceiving tho (it showed 6pcs around a small syrup container like ihop) and I was given a tiny container of sauce and when I asked for another charged .54 cents. I mean how much is too much for falafel it's not a main course. The Falafel needs the sauce too especially with 6 pieces 6.99 and you can't order by the piece or a smaller portion which sucks....& then to be nickeled and dimed for an extra sauce is ridiculous ijs they said oh that's the special sauce...it wasn't that special ijs not to be rude but it was way over priced.

Yelp
Mediterranean food is one of my favorites so I wanted to try this place, but I was disappointed. I ordered the chicken kebab plate. The pictures on their menu look great, the food looks good but the taste is not so good. Very bland, no seasoning. I tried making it taste better by seasoning it with dressings and other condiments but those were also bland. Not going back.

Yelp
This business is absolutely baffling to me for a few reasons. When I'd drive by the curb appeal of the building gave me the vibe that it would be old and rundown but in reality it's quite nice, clean and modern inside. Another thing that strikes me is that I don't know that I've ever seen such a solid four-star business on Yelp. Seriously though, the reviews that popped up from people I know/trust were four starts, almost entirely across the board. Hey, they were absolutely right. The chicken shawarma wrap was excellent, I'll get that out of the way first. While it wasn't huge it was a nice balance of meat to the other fillings. Slathered with the garlic paste and you'll savor each bite. We also really loved the lentil soup and when it's hit with a slice of the fresh lemon that it's served with it absolutely wakes up and is perfect for a chilly night. So why the four stars? The service! Ugh... in reality the service could have knocked this place down two stars for me but one will suffice. After placing a pickup order an hour and a half in advance I was pretty bummed waiting for fifteen minutes to walk it out the door after I arrived. I'll also note that the man working the register is not a poster child for customer service lacking explanation, apologies, or any form of a warm overall demeanor. That being said, I've gotta try that chicken shawarma pizza.

Yelp
Another great find! The food was really DEELISH! Portions were awesome for the price! We will be back the next time we visit!

Yelp
Been craving a salad , I ordered the Shawarma chicken salad, first off what does that mean ? I suppose the cashiers should be trained , but unfortunately she was unable to explain ; however she was super nice . So the salad comes with the dressing already mixed in ! That's a no no for me . I like to toss my own salad ! Lol I think it's a Must that they ask if you want the dressing mixed in specially if it's To Go , I mean who wants a wilted salad by the time they get to work or home ? I wasn't crazy about the chicken it looks like it has dark meat mixed in with white meat . When I eat a chicken salad I want all white meat . So I wasn't crazy about that . I think the salad needed a little more veggies and definitely More Feta cheese . The feta cheese was scarce ! The place is clean and staff is super nice!
google avatar

Yelp
I cannot brag about this spot enough. They are halal, they're delicious, and they're fast! Honestly some of the best food in my area. I definitely recommend the salads!

Meghan A.

Yelp
I came here a few years ago and loved their shawarma beef wrap. I went again today and got a gyro plate and a beef shawarma wrap. The plate Came with pita bread of course, then I opened my wrap and it was with tortilla which confused me because I've always had it come on pita everywhere I've gone. It just felt like a burrito and not a very good one. Also, I get inflation but 4$ for this small bite seems insane to me. I called for clarification, so just a heads up if you want pita which I assumed it always did you have to specify that and it's a dollar extra. (Which I would had done if I knew that prior.)

Yelp
So tasty, The chicken is soooo good. Staff is friendly and parking is decent. I recommend calling ahead to order.

Yelp
Great food. Clean, simple, yet very flavorful. You won't be disappointed here. I love the chicken Kabobs and the salad is amazing. Beef and lamb are worth a try as well.

Yelp
My wife and I have driven past this place for years and we finally decided to go. I honestly didn't know what to expect. The sign on the outside said pizza and chicken and for some reason we thought it was green. Well I am so happy we stopped, this is a place that we will continue to come for year to come. It seemed to be a mixture of Greek, mediterranean and Middle Eastern food. Whatever it was it was amazing. The service was fast and the food was done to perfection. Now for the best part, for some unknown reason I left my wallet on the table and left with our food to go, to only get home and realize it was gone. My wife quickly called and they said they had it so I said I'll be right there. I walked in and said I am the dummy that left the wallet. She had already had it ready to go and it was safe under the register. I felt so relieved and safe that I didn't even check cause I knew everything was there. In these days and time that just doesn't happen anymore. On top of the most amazing service the FOOD was just as good even when I got home and it had already started to lose the heat. I would go back here over and over again and will give the biggest tips forever. So impressed and loved every bite. Service is perfect. I can't write or say enough about this amazing five star restaurant.

Yelp
The Dolma #5 was mouthwatering fabulous and the Gyro Wrap was outstanding. The customer service was personable, friendly and patient. Yes I highly recommend these options that I have had an opportunity to enjoy. I will be visiting again and again. Thank you for your amazing authentic food options.

John K.

Yelp
I used to love this place, but the service is now terrible. I frequently order food, and either the online app wasn't monitored at the counter and my order was never prepared, or the restaurant is out of the item and I am not informed until I arrived. Always a pain in the butt. Tonight, my order was "cancelled" on the app - no phone call, nothing. Terrible customer service. Take your money elsewhere.
google avatar

Justyn G.

Yelp
I go here often. It's near my home and always delivers consistently yummy standards like Kufta kebabs, gyros, schwwarma. They even have pizza and pasta dishes. Give it a try
google avatar

Beth C.

Yelp
Tried to order by phone for a to go order. After looking at the website and putting in the order, was told they had no shrimp and they hung up the phone. When I called back and tried to order something else, I could hear people in the background laughing and nobody wanting to take my order. I don't get it. I have been to this place before but after this experience, will not go again. Not a good way to do business.
google avatar

Linda R.

Yelp
Good & fresh food The cashier didn't listen very well to my order & gave me a wrap when I wanted beef shawarma

Lisa W.

Yelp
Food is good, but their customer service, no. Apparently tzatziki sauce is super special and too good for me, because whenever I ask for it, they look me right in the eye and say, "it's in there"....and no, it's not. Very generous with their spicy sauce though. I think I will be taking a break from this place, as clearly that is what they want.
google avatar

Yelp
Great fish Great chicken kabob Great meat pies Great salads Good service Great prices. I keep coming back

Yelp
OMG...... Portions are incredible Flavor is amazing wow. Thought I had some good med food in North county.. does not compare to LaMesa lol
google avatar

Cassie J.

Yelp
The little girl with colored eyes lacks basic customer service and careless. Didn't even serve me napkins and Utensils. Evidently my business is not valued. Treat everyone equal. Food wasn't even that good. Not going back again, wouldn't recommend

Yelp
Came here on a less than busy evening and ordered the special of the day which was the lamb kafta. Unfortunately, the lamb wasn't available so they switched it to beef. The order came roughly around 25 minutes and everything tasted fresh. Since it was a nice day, I decided to wait at the front. They have several chairs outside and I decided to sit across the garden wall but that's when a vagrant sat next to me and asked for some money. I decided to do what I do best and ignored him. But he continued to persist until another customer offered to help him monetarily (Thank you, kind lady). When he left, I decided to sit inside. Exasperated, I went to the front desk to see where my food was (it was already 25 minutes and I thought I had ordered when the restaurant was nearly empty) so I was very glad that the food also arrived at that time. I ate my food fairly quickly and boxed what was unfinished for my meal the next day, which was just half of the plate. When I left, I saw another homeless guy sitting across the cashier looking very morose, dirty and down on his luck. I should have given him my food but I didn't...which left me feeling very shaken and guilty for being so selfish. I decided to counter that feeling by thanking the cashier for the good food. Sadly, she acted aloof by giving orders to the back. Hopefully it was to make food for the homeless man? Or maybe...she was ignoring me because she was also trying to ignore him since he was by the exit? Who knows... Although I am a fan of the food, the service and the homeless people who loitered here made the place a little undesirable. Maybe, I'll order my food to go on my next trip to Mystic.

Yelp
Been meaning to come to this place for a long time and finally did today. First impression was okay...customer service skills could be improved. Me and a couple other customers entered the building and the staff had their backs to us for at least five minutes before saying one word to us, despite obviously seeing us. Asked for side of ranch, they told me flatly they didn't have any. Food itself was okay, I ordered the gyro plate and baklava. Gyro meat, basmati rice & salad was amazing. The hummus, however, was thin & lackluster. Baklava piece was tiny and way more sweet than I was expecting (I've had baklava elsewhere & it was much more sweet than those I've tried). Overall, not great but not Teribble either.

Vicky A.

Yelp
Great food, great price, the portions are big, and they also have family style orders that can help you host a party.
google avatar

Yelp
I have been eating here for years! You can't go wrong with anything on their menu but I like to order their gyro wrap which comes with a salad or you can upgrade to fries. I feel like it's healthier since it's a wrap and I don't feel bad after eating it. I also like their gyro pizza which is well-priced. Don't forget a piece of harisa for dessert!

Yelp
Good home style food here. Lots of variety and friendly service. Recommend to anyone.
