Atlanta’s Chain Restaurants Are in a Major Boom - Eater Atlanta

"NaanStop is looking to more than double its current number of locations to seven in the next year alone, and founder Neal Idnani is projecting 30 to 40 franchised locations in the next five years. Homegrown NaanStop started as a food truck in Los Angeles for their proof of concept. But when it came time to move into a storefront, there was no place like home." - Su-Jit Lin

A gsu classic. ended up there after a very long time, and their cina naan still tasted like happiness ☺️ still the best naans and amazing curried fries? Check. Still the haunt for homeless diving into the inside trash can and then touching the drinking water nozzle with bare hands? Double Check.

Stopped in March 5th for lunch. This bowl is what I received for $15 with the bottled drink. When I returned to my office it was too late to ask if this small amount of food is normal. I ate it in a few minutes and went somewhere else to get a sandwich. Bummer

Google
I’ve eaten here a few times, and it’s always great. But this review is about the catering — it’s top-notch. Easy to order. Easy to make changes (you don’t even need to call!) They bring everything you need, it’s always organized and delicious. A+.

I made a quick stop here for some samosas with my husband. Really enjoyed the ambiance and the friendly service. Being used to eating tons of Indian food I do find the seasoning to be on the mild/softer side. However they were still delicious. Nice place.

Google
Pictured here is the vegan combo and the world's ugliest samosa. Fortunately, the samosa tasted pretty good. However, the dal, chola and gobi didn't have much flavor and the majority of the bowl was rice. The two chutneys that I tried were great, but it would have been better if they were on the side. Service was quick and friendly.

The service, the atmosphere was amazing and very pleasant. I didn't have card on me to pay. I only had cash, so be careful when you come in. Make sure you have a car to pay. I am so thankful for (Akash ) ps he deserves a raise for helping and working with me. I was starving. Thanks to his generosity and kindness, I was able to feel fill my belly. The food is delicious.I will be back soon

Google
This team was incredible. We put in a large lunch order and our lovely assistant was surprised to find that everything was packaged with detailed info on each dish. The workers helped her carry it all out and were very accommodating.

Google
The food is actually tasty but I paid $14 for a bowl and it wasn't even halfway filled! It's like a 1/4 of the way filled. I didn't check it before I left and when I got back to work I realized it's barely filled. I work across the stream from here and I am not going to be a repeat customer! I should have went with my first mind and went to the Pho restaurant where I pay the same prices and it's more filling.

Yelp
I love this place because it simply does the job when I'm in the mood for American style Indian food! One of my go to favorites!

Yelp
Impeccable customer service and absolutely amazing food! 10/10 must try again! Going for lunch today!!

Yelp
I got the family meal for 50 bucks. This place was not very Indian at all. All the food was a muted version of what you would get from a decent Indian restaurant. The Chicken Tikka Masala, tasted like tomato soup right out of the can. The only thing I did enjoy was the Naan and the chutneys. Not worth.

Yelp
We got the chicken 65 biryani and butter chicken with rice. Food was amazing and full of flavor. Definitely a great addition in terms of cuisine diversity! Don't miss out, best wishes to the owner and his endeavors :) Food is also 100% halal!! Great place indoors ambiance!

Yelp
We ordered two rice bowls with Chicken tikka masala, paneer tikka masala, and dal. The food was bland unlike classic Indian dishes. Chicken and paneer were well cooked, but the gravy had no taste at all. The dal was ok, had very less spices. We ordered masala fries as well, and to my disappointment, I was given normal fries with the side of yogurt and tikka sauce. Their service was fast, but the food was a total disappointment!!

Yelp
Update, The shop owner reached out to me on the same day I posted my review. They were very considerate in their approach and took the necessary steps to address the issue. Despite this mistake, they showed great effort in rectifying it and even refunded me for the food. Initial review: Yesterday night, my family and I ordered a family meal for four from this restaurant. Unfortunately, when we got home and opened the order, we discovered that the rice and yogurt were spoiled. We had to throw them away. Since the shop had already closed for the night, we were unable to contact them. The next morning, we called the restaurant to inform them about the spoiled food, and we just didn't want this to happen to anyone else. We did not ask for a refund or anything else. However, the only response we received was an uncaring "OK" and "Oh, ok." Stay clear from this restaurant as they were perfectly happy to serve spoiled food.

Yelp
my friend And I went I ordered a naan wrap with brown rice, chola, with some corn and spinach, and I tried a couple of their Chutneys on the side, overall, the food was very good and relatively inexpensive compared to other foods in the area. Their service was great, the guy who took my order was very friendly, and made the experience more enjoyable; it was my first time there and i didn't feel rushed, he also explained explained what some of the food was and gave recommendations. we ate inside and I really enjoyed the music they were playing. It wasn't too loud. It was just my friend and i and a couple of other people, nice ambience.

Yelp
This place is totally ! I didn't know what to expect when I heard the name of the restaurant "Naanstop" because it was a play on the Indian bread "naan" but it didn't disappoint. I've been to cultural food spots like this that plays on fast food (think Mexican Chipotle or Korean Bibibop or Chinese Panda Express) but this place hands down keeps it authentic. The naan was suppurb and the choices of meats hit the spot. They were voted top samosa(think Indian egg roll with chick peas) of Atlanta. You start off choosing the type of entree you desire (bowl, naanwich, or salad). You then choose your meats (chicken Tikka masala, turkey kabob, lamb, chola(chickpea), Gobi(cauliflower) or Punjabi dal(lentil). On to the toppings like grilled onions and peppers, corn salad, cabbage slaw or spinach. Laslty you finish it off with chutney sauces which are either cool, sweet, medium or hot. They also had a great choice of beverages like mango lasi, chai tea as well as india's favorite soda, Thums up! Definitely would hit this spot up again when I return to Atlanta!

Yelp
I got my food quickly and it was quite filling! I like how there's so many options and it's really affordable. You can add multiple toppings without paying extra. I got masala fries and naan wrap. I'm vegan so there's a lot of options to mix and match my meals. I'm a bit disappointed in the masala fries though - they're just french fries with a side of tikka masala sauce. The picture made it look like it was a bit more. The staff was friendly and when I went (about 1:30pm on a weekday). It wasn't busy at all. Super convenient for GSU students.

Yelp
A friend and I went to the Naanstop today to grab lunch after class. I got a white rice bowl with chicken tikka masala. It was great! I really enjoyed the yogurt and cilantro sauce. We also shared the Masala fries which were amazing. The restruant had a good vibe overall and the employees were very friendly and helpful. They also offer a student discount! Overall, I had a great expierence and would definitely come back.

Yelp
I ordered through Postmates & was not disappointed. I always used to stop by as a student at Georgia State between classes. Every time I get a Naanwich with Chicken Tikka. One of my favorite restaurants

Yelp
Very lively place. The staff was courteous, but when I was served my order I had to ask the young lady to put another piece of meat from the stew!!.They had us wait for the naan bread to be baked on the spot. I ended up ordering to go. I was disappointed when I was ready to eat because the garlic naan was not what I expected. I have to mention though that the veg. somosa was delicious!!

Julie S.

Yelp
Delicious food, friendly service - great supporting local, family run business killin' it! I love the samosas and paneer

Mary B.

Yelp
One of my go-to delivery options. The food is fresh and filling. I usually order the rice bowl with lamb, so I love building the bowl with the options available. The combination of flavors a just perfect, and I love that I have several chutney options to add in. The naan and samosas are a bonus - both delicious. A wonderful, family-run business.

Yelp
The food is fantastic! The service is quick, exciting and the naan bread is beyond amazing, it's heavenly! The vibes are always it!

Yelp
So I picked this up for lunch and I got chicken tikka masala with rice and they gave me like 3 pieces chicken and it was really grainy. For $14 it was pretty disappointing, won't be going again.

Yelp
Fast service and great food at a reasonable price! The staff was friendly and efficient.

Yelp
The food and service was AMAZING! 2 thumbs up. Me and my girlfriend were starving and didn't know where to go. Extremely delighted to have stumbled upon this place.

Yelp
Hands down the best Indian restraurant in Durham. I came in for a work lunch and ordered the lamb kadai and garlic naan. Everything came out fast and piping hot. The naan was soft and delicious. The curry was well-spiced with fresh, not over-cooked veggies with a nice, light pickle flavor. The medium spice level had a little heat but not overpowering. The lamb was perfectly cooked and tender. I normally like to explore a menu but this is a dish I would come back for. Also excellent service. Not a cheap lunch at $30 including tip, but well worth it. I can't wait to come back.

Yelp
The food was great! I got the create your own bowl. The ingredients were fresh and hot and seasoned well. First time here and i like the style of this place. Easy ordering. I will be back!!

David M.

Yelp
Horrible. The food tasted like a car mechanic decided to put scrap tires in some sauce. The staff didn't really give recommendations when asked whats popular and when I finally got what i ordered - I ended up throwing away mist of the meal.

Yelp
We have had NaanStop through a few local fundraisers (they are so supportive of their community!) and the samosas are the best I've ever had. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Driving from FL to IL, stopping in GA (ATL, to be exact)...we landed at this wonderful eatery. Ordered pretty much the entire menu, and not a SINGLE one of their foot items disappointed! Furthermore, everything was served up fresh, quickly, and with a smile. The customer service was absolutely phenomenal. We ordered chai with our meal, and it was served right at the end of our meal, piping hot! The food was delicious, I chose the lamb and the chicken and it was enough for me to last two meals, but then again, my husband demolished his food completely in one sitting. That Rose Lemonade was quite possibly the most refreshing thing I've ever tasted, so I highly recommend that. All in all, an absolutely delightful experience!

Yelp
If you want authentic Indian food, you may not want to come here. If you want to grab a quick meal and are craving Indian food, this is an okay option. Step 1 is to pick your base (naan, rice, or salad). Step 2 is to pick your protein. Step 3 is to pick your toppings and chutneys. Wish they had more options for toppings. In my bowl, I got palak paneer, spinach, corn, and yogurt cilantro sauce. Something in my bowl was too salty (probably the palak paneer). My friend thought his bowl was okay, but soon after got food poisoning. I did like their samosa though, which was a little too oily, but still tasty. Taste | 3 Atmosphere | 3 Presentation | 3 Service | 3 OVERALL | 3

Yelp
Excellent customer service. The server/cashier had a great attitude and very helpful with our selections. We have eaten at the Lenox one and not as friendly and outgoing as this staff. She's even learning Spanish.

Yelp
I love Naanstop! Both veg and non-veg options are great. The chutneys are excellent, and I particularly recommend the green one for those who like spice.
google avatar

Grace P.

Yelp
I never write reviews but my experience was sufficiently provoking that I had to do so. We just ordered delivery from this place and literally none of the items were correct. The bowl was missing chutney, spinach, and peppers. The salad had no chicken whatsoever, when I had ordered double protein. Salad was missing peppers, yogurt, and chutney as well. And on top of everything, both naan were burnt and completely inedible. See picture. Never again will I patronize this place and will tell everyone I know to do the same.

Yelp
Going through my reviews, I am so surprised that I hadn't reviewed this restaurant already. NaanStop is one of my favorite places for fast food Indian cuisine. I don't know what they put in their food, but it definitely keeps me coming back. My go-to is the chicken Tikka Masala brown rice bowl. I always add pepper, onions, and spinach, which is always fresh. Top it off with the sweet and cool sauce, and I'm in heaven. Yes, I said just typed my whole order from memory. The best part about Naan Stop is that even when the line is long, it goes relatively fast. And, the staff is always friendly. If you order online, it is always ready when for pick up. Now the best time to go is before the lunch rush. I don't know if I should tell you my secret, because then it might not be so convenient for me. But I'll be nice and let you know anyway. The best time to go is right before noon, between 11:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. is usually a good time go. Depending on the right at noon is not bad either. As a final tip, don't forget to order your side Samosa. It is a must! Speaking of... Be right back; I'm going to place my order now. See you in line!

Yelp
Food was amazing, Joe was very kind! I Recommend the place! Also it is affordable! The chicken tikamasala was great

Yelp
NaanStop, we need to talk...... I love your concept (and your name!) but your food needs work. Out of all of the cool looking restaurants in your area, we chose you for a quick lunch (our first meal in Atlanta!). Sadly we were disappointed... A few bites into our meal, we looked at each other and said the same thing, "this doesn't taste like real Indian food..." I had the paneer tikka masala naanwich and gf had the chicken tikka masala. So okay, kinda the same thing. And it's not like the food was that bad, or offensive... it just wasn't what we were expecting. I guess the sauce base is just really tomato-y? Or something? We couldn't quite pinpoint WHY it tasted so inauthentic and strange. I see from other reviews that others share this opinion. However the naan was delicious. And the free samosa was super tasty as well. I would try one of the other restaurants around here instead of NaanStop until they try a little harder to deliver on real Indian food.

Yelp
It was my husbands birthday so we came to Atlanta from Augusta and I had a list of places I wanted to try while we were up there. This was one. We came for lunch and not only was the staff AMAZING and so helpful but the food was to die for. It was SO good that we ordered food to take home . The samosas were so so good. I wished they had ones with meat in them. The chicken rice bowl was amazing and OMG that rosewater lemonade is to die for, so refreshing. I'm literally still punching myself for not going with my first instinct and getting a few to go as well .
google avatar

Tee W.

Yelp
The only thing that was good was the mango drink. Samosas was very salty. The food portions are EXTREMELY small and tasteless

Ana D.

Yelp
Service is always fast and great! Easy to grab this on my lunch break and I don't feel heavy after eating.

Yelp
I am right in the middle with this place. I love the concept and the idea of fast food Indian BUT it was not executed well and the food lacked the flavor and kick that I am used to when I eat Indian. My food fell short of being anything more pleasurable than eatable but it was eatable. My fries were creative in thought but was not executed well. I would have liked fresh fries instead of the generic frozen fries w/tikka masala and mint chutney, that both fell short individually. My wrap did not hold well... The Naan bread served as my base with Chicken Masala, corn and some sort of pickled slaw (which I thought was the star of this meal). Again, concept was great but you have to come correctly when we are talking Indian spiced food. Highlight of my meal would be the Organic Sodas, these were amazing!! I tried the Blood Orange and the LemonGrass. I would definitely look forward to these drinks. Unfortunately, if I returned, it would be to only drink the sodas. But I am optimistic that this idea can really work if the flavor profiles of the food improved. It is worth a try. Just once though without improvement.

Jeff S.

Yelp
Think "Moe's meets Madras". Very tasty, but fair warning: naan's structural properties leave much to be desired, so the Naan wrap came apart and had to be eaten with a fork.
google avatar

Yelp
Downtown Naan Stop has been consistently superb right from the start and continues to hit the mark every time. Every single thing on the menu is excellent: obviously, the Chicken Tikka is a must for carnivores, but don't overlook the many yummy veg dishes. The naan is top quality, and the samosas are the best in town, in my opinion! Absolutely marvelous. My kids love love love them. And so do I! Naan Stop is a valuable asset for downtown dining. Yum!
google avatar

Kim K.

Yelp
Quick service. Food is good for fast Indian food. Even though I normally eat specific entrees with Indian food the things I was unfamiliar with the staff readily help me. Prices were good wish they had specials that included drinks but overall I will return again.
google avatar

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised! This place is similar to the Chipotle food line concept. You choose what you want and they put it together for you. Fast and easy service! I've always walked by this place but never thought to try it. So for one of Yelp's restaurant weeks, I decided to grab a bite during my break. I'm SO glad I gave this place a try because I found my new favorite lunch spot! Like other restaurants on Broad Street, this place gets crowded during lunch hour. However, it is definitely worth the wait. There is seating inside, but you might be opted to take it to-go since it gets packed pretty often. When you stand in line, the menu is displayed over head. They give you steps on how to order (I think you start on the right side of the menu). You choose whether you want a wrap or rice bowl. I like getting the rice bowl. From there, you just choose what protein, veggies, and sauces you want in there. My favorite is the brown rice bowl with Chicken Tikka Masala, chickpeas, and corn salad. All of there sauces are good, so I would recommend trying one according to your heat preference. The only thing I would say is that the portions for the rice bowls are a little small for the price. Overall I've had good experiences with the food and service here and will definitely make this my new lunch spot.

Yelp
I've only been to this location a couple of times and it's always very good: nice staff and good food that hits the spot. They basically offer a scaled down version of Indian food that's palatable for Americans but doesn't feel Americanised. It's like... Indian food for kids/beginners and my gosh these training wheels are tasty. The menu offers more than enough variety for food, drinks and flavours that you try something different every time and enjoy it out at least figure out what you like most. This time I had the Loaded Samosa and the 'Bullet' Naan-neither of which I'd seen before- they were as yummy as could be- and were fantastic vegan options. The naan was a bit tough this time around but it still tasted great. Overall an enjoyable experience as ever. Two big thumbs up. I shall return.

John G.

Yelp
Me and my girlfriend stopped there at her suggestion (I really wanted Rosa's pizza next door but I knew I needed to eat healthier) and were greeted warmly by the workers and I told them that I never had Indian food before so I tried out the tiki marsala. I was hooked instantly! That yogurt, the chicken and rice had a flavor that was indescribable it was so good! The owner said that it was his mother's recipe. Salut to mom! It was well worth every penny.
google avatar

Amita J.

Yelp
It's pretty much an Indian chipotle. I had higher expectations though, so I was a little disappointed. I got a veggie bowl with the palak paneer. As well as a samosa. The palak paneer I though could have had more flavor; the whole bowl was overall bland even though I added the sauce and chutneys and corn. The samosa was drenched in oil which was not very appetizing, the few bites I had of the filling was alright.
google avatar

Tamira M.

Yelp
This cozy spot satisfied my craving for samosas! I searched "samosas" on Yelp and this restaurant appeared as an option. The place is in walking distance from my downtown job. The vegan samosa was packed with flavor & heat from the Indian spices. My samosas were freshly made and ready in 3 minutes. Staff were really welcoming. The restaurant was filled with a tempting aroma from the Indian food. Paid street parking is available. This is now my to-go spot when I don't pack & want a good quick bite for lunch!

Sara S.

Yelp
Peachtree mall now called hub is my to go place for a quick lunch but since I have tried most of the places there I decided to explore nearby places and naan stop was my first stop. It's a nice small place with limited seating. The menu is not very elaborate and with the same ingredients you can either get a rice bowl, naan roll or salad. I opted for the rice bowl which comes with a choice of two proteins, a choice of chutney and unlimited toppings. I opted for chicken tikka masala bowl selecting both my proteins as chicken, yoghurt chutney and grilled onion as my topping. Everything came together perfectly and the food was delicious. Tikka masala was neither too spicy nor oily. Rice was sautéed in spices which added a great flavor. Cherry on the top were the grilled onions. Tip- if you check in on yelp you can score a free samosa (fried potato dumpling).

Dom C.

Yelp
Unassuming spot on Broad St. but I really enjoyed it. Got the chicken tikka masala bowl and the chicken flavor was really good. The accompaniments were also super flavorful. Great quick and cost-friendly lunch spot downtown.

Olivia K.

Yelp
LOVE THIS PLACE! I am a GSU student, and there are not much Indian food options downtown. This place is such a gem! The service is really fast, and the workers are always nice & super helpful. The store is super clean, as well.

Yelp
Pretty good! Cheap and tasted good. Staff was very friendly and helpful with ordering as well. Perfect for lunch.

Yelp
no NAAN @NAANstop. Confused? Us too. Instead of describing other options for us w/o NAAN, the server stared @us blankly for 5 min &then hit on my friend through me. Server-"your friend is gorgeous" Me-"I'll let her know" Sir, plz focus on your job &the bigger problem here that NAANstop has no NAAN.

Curtis W.

Yelp
Every dish was delicious. Naan (regular, garlic, and cheese) was amazing. The staff was very friendly. We loved it.
