NaanStop Indian Cuisine

Traveling and was looking for a great meal. I FOUND IT! Quite possibly the best Indian good I’ve ever had. The chicken tzatziki masala was unbelievable. Highly recommend.

$19 for a cup (225-250ml) of butter chicken sauce and 1/2 of a chicken thigh (like 5-6 small pieces). Portions much smaller than any other Indian restaurant I've been too across the US, and simultaneously more expensive. Menu showed pictures of large portions, but that was nothing like the mouse-sized portion we got. I don't know what the rest of the entrees are like. The naan we ordered came with two pieces/portions. I asked for the Duke discount (10%), but they acted like they didn't know what I was talking about, even though it was posted on the door. I ended up just giving up. Go to the Indian place in Broadhead for a much better deal and tastier food. I'm not usually one to leave a bad review, but this one is well deserved.

Having tried many other buffet places, I didn’t feel this place is worth $24 for buffet with the taste and number of items served. Taste is ok but are they worth the price ?Either taste should be absolutely phenomenal or items should be more to try with this taste instead what I got is oily samosa and oily pakoda, 2 chicken appetizers, 1 veg birynai, 1 chicken and 1 lamb entree, 2 veg entrees. Glad atleast service is pretty quick and responsive when you ask for naan or anything.

I’ve been to Naan Stop twice in the last month, and I absolutely recommend it! The food is incredible—this time, I had the butter chicken with bullet naan, and it was delicious. Last time, I tried the chicken tandoori and samosa, and they were just as amazing. The staff is great, and the owner was a true pleasure to chat with. Thanks again for the fantastic food and warm hospitality. I’ll definitely be back!

I did not take any pictures of the food we ordered which I fully regret because you as the possible customer deserves to see but with that being said, the food we ordered was delicious. It all came out in a timely fashion and our service was non stressful. What we had: Mix Veggie Pakora Lamb Biryani Lamb Tikka Masala Chicken Vindaloo Josh Rogan Garlic Butter Naan Aloo Nan (That one could have been better) Mango Lassie The two great employees that helped us was Waiter: Lovedeep and Part Owner: Happy They also had a great sense of humor when i asked about their names. Kinda gotta be careful bringing your girl around a man thats name is love deep lol Thank you all for the food!!

This is the best buffet in town, hands-down. And I’m not just talking about Indian food. Happy, the server, great.

Naan Stop is always excellent. As a nearby employee, it's one of my go-to lunch spots, both for incredible food and warm service. And the lunch buffet gives you incredible options (vegetarian, non-vegetarian, desserts, and chai!). For this most recent lunch we were taken care of by Happy, who took amazing care of us and reminded us once again just how wonderful Naan Stop is.

I enjoyed their naan and moong daal halwa, unfotunately I did not enjoy anything else in their buffet. Aloo gobhi had so much oil, saag or palak had no taste. Chole and paneer were also not up to par. I will probably give it one more try and will update my review if I find things changed. Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian buffet is the same price. FYI only.

Went on a Saturday right when it opened. Very clean and buffet was ready for patrons. I was impressed. As a meat eater, that's all i go for at an Indian buffet. So they had tandoori chicken, chicken kebabs, chicken tikka masala, and a goat curry. Dessert was tasty as well. I tried the galab jamun which was sitting nice and warm in its delicious syrup. I also tried the kheer (rice pudding). I was happy with it all. I've had better naans but they were a solid 4/5 and came made to order direct to your table. For $16.99 in this day and age, it can't be beat. If i wasn't watching my weight, I'd be here several times a month easily.

We came for the lunch buffet and it was completely worth it. All the food was delicious, good quality, and warm. It also came with chai tea which I loved. The restaurant itself is clean and nice. The staff was helpful but we didn't interact with him too too much since it was a serve yourself situation.

We stopped in for the lunch buffet. Food was good, though it had clearly been out for a while by the time we got there. I do wish it had a bit more spice though. Selection was good for the price. We really loved that they had hot chai available with the buffet. It's walking distance from our place so I'm sure we will be back soon.

Very solid lunch buffet (currently just over $20 per person after tax and tip). The highlight is that they make and bring you fresh naan rather than just leaving it in the buffet, so you get soft, buttery goodness delivered to the table. The buffet is strong on chicken (two kinds of roasted and two kinds in a wet curry) and had several veg options as well (a saag, a paneer, a dal, and a curried potato and zucchini/squash thing). Everything I tried was flavorful and tasty. The buffet also had plain rice or biryani, a couple of dessert options, some dips/sauces, and a green salad (heavy on the cucumber). There is also the option to order off the menu. Service is quick and attentive. Our water glasses were constantly topped off and dirty plates immediately taken away.

This spot was delicious! I love the chicken curry and garlic Naan. You can get it mild, spicy, or hot. The Indian beer was good too. They have a lot of different dishes to choose from.

The food is fantastic! I sampled a little of everything on the lunch buffet and enjoyed it! The chai tea is a nice touch. The waitstaff is polite and friendly but not invasive or annoying. Restaurant is clean with pleasant Indian music playing. Also has free parking nearby. I will be back and recommend to friends!

My first visit was OK. Food was decent but did not have much meat. Tried to give this place a second chance but was repulsed by the smell of the restaurant. It smelled like sewage and was absolutely unbearable. We decided to leave & were met with glares from the employees. Won't be back.

The food is great and reasonably priced. I have never had a bad meal here. It's one of my favorite Indian restaurants in Durham.

Love this place. I'm here on a work trip and was so excited to stumble across this restaurant. Their lunch buffet is one of the best I've ever had. They have all the typical items you'd find on a buffet. The food is fresh and excellent. The staff is very attentive and kind! The restaurant is clean. If I'm ever back in the area for work, I'll definitely be coming here for lunch! Highly recommended!!

Food was below average . This will not be our choice for indian food . At about $20 pp($16.99 plus tax and tip) for a Sunday lunch we expected better quality food . On the positive the waiter was quick to clear plates and filling water . Hot chai was included . Maybe a week day lunch will be fresh and better but we were disappointed by our Sunday lunch.

This store is open but there is a glitch in apple maps which it is showing it's close. We are trying to fix it out soon But please order and walk In. We are open.

Atmosphere: We've only ordered takeout at Naan Stop, but the dining area seemed nice and clean. Service: Ordering to-go over the phone has been a breeze, and our food has been ready for pickup in ~20 minutes. Food: This time around, we ordered the Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Garlic Naan, and Mango Lassi. Both of the main dishes were good. While Butter Chicken might be a rather uninspiring dish to order, Naan Stop makes it a filling, guilty pleasure. Their Tikka Masala is consistently tasty, and both dishes deserve to be scooped up with their Garlic Naan. Overall: Naan Stop is a solid, accessible option for Indian food close to Duke's campus. However, their dishes are quite pricey especially given the portions. We'll likely order again as an occasional and convenient indulgence!

My friend and I have been fans of Naan Stop for a couple years now because the food and the service are always wonderful. They consistently deliver the classic dishes to your table or your house (we've done delivery as well!) better than any other Indian place in the area for about the same price. Now what really sets them apart is their lunch buffet. Open for an impressive 3 hours during the week, it includes a basket of naan and a great selection of delicious options for $16.99. Meat and vegetarian options were clearly labeled, which was nice, and there was a variety of sauces (mint chutney, tamarind, and raita) available at the salad station as well. While I would have loved a samosa option, the pakora were fresh and added a nice appetizer option to the buffet. All three of the meat entree options were chicken, including one biryani, which is probably the best bet to satisfy the greatest number of patrons. Food was fresh, flavorful, and my friend and I left ready for a nap :)

I could eat here NAAN STOP! To be honest, I was planning to eat elsewhere in the same shopping center but the smell of Indian food lead me here. I was so happy that I came here! There were only a few folks eating when I arrived. I ordered the chicken tika masala and it was a hit! The flavors married each other so well with the right amount of medium heat! It came with a side of rice. Also, make sure to order some garlic naan! That was the MVP of this meal! It was by far the best naan I've had in my life. The fluffy ness and chewy ness reminds me of good Napoleon pizza dough. Good service and there an auto % tip applied when you dine here.

Fantastic to go food. Had the tikka masala which was great mild and with a garlic naan it really hit the spot. Pakora were a little cold but had a flavorful potato interior. Husband enjoyed the chicken vindaloo. They do a healthy takeout business for the surrounding area! $60ish for two entrees two naans and pakora was a great deal.

This place the "NAAN STOP" is on point homie! The Chicken tika masala is my go to and It was super delicious, the curry was thick not too runny, the rice was well cooked. Garlic Naan was perfectly paired with this dish. Pro tip is you do order anything ask for a side of fresh chopped onion trust me, help to cut the spices and also adds the extra crunch. Small parking lot in the front, they have seating and a small bar. Check it out after a long day of studying!

Fantastic food! Piping hot, quality ingredients and an explosion of flavor! Hospitality is second to none. Don't sleep on the imported beers either...they pair well with the culinary offerings. Can't wait to visit again.

I can't stop, won't stop eating at naan stop! Naan stop is now my favorite Indian restaurant in the triangle. 5/5 times eating here, I've not been dissatisfied with anything and have not been able to put my spoon down. My favorite dish is the chicken korma. Butter chicken and chicken tikka masala are always safe, but you must try the korma at naan stop. It is creamy, flavorful, and the nuts add a hint of texture. The chicken is always tender and marinated well from the spices and sauce. Naan stop is the perfect stop for any type of day - rainy, cold, stormy, cloudy, happy, sad, you name it. Stop the naansense and come to naan stop.

Food was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! We tried their Chicken Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken, Fish Curry, Shrimp Biryani and Garlic Naan. *Butter chicken and chicken Tikka Masala: 10/10 They were divine. Creamy, delicious and bursting with flavor. * Fish curry: 10/10 It was very flavorful and there was a sufficient amount of fish, unlike some places where there's only one piece of fish in the entrée. *Shrimp Biryani: 10/10 It was delicious and not dry. And there was enough shrimp to keep me satisfied *Garlic Naan: 10/10 It was soft, airy, fresh and absolutely DELICIOUS!

Honestly don't really have anything bad to say about this place it was my first time eating indian food. The rice and the garlic Naan were good. I got the chicken tikki masala wasn't a fan of it honestly but it could be good for someone else. service was honestly alright, our server wasn't really interactive kinda just stood there but overall wasn't a bad experienc

The food was good and the service was quick, but the portions were pretty small compared to the price. I ordered the mango curry which had good flavor, but for almost $20 I would have expected a larger portion. There were only a few pieces of chicken in the curry and the rice dish was less than half full, and per their menu, additional rice can be ordered but will cost you. Overall not a bad meal, but not worth the price.

Good portion size and flavor but even the mild vindaloo was wayyy too spicy for me. For reference, this mild was many times hotter than mild level vindaloo at other places, hot sauces you'd find at other restaurants, any hot salsa at authentic Mexican restaurants, etc

WOW! A must visit, the Chicken Tikka Masala is OUT OF BOUNDS! The rice is delicious, i cannot tell if it is a seasoned jasmine not sure but great. Friendly and welcoming staff, the food is the star!

Ordered take out from here and loved everything we got! The Chicken makhani and Chicken kadhai were both incredible! Def one of the top Indian spots we have tried in Durham. Can't wait to try more dishes!

Friend and I decided to eat here for her birthday lunch since we had read so many great reviews of how they're reacting to covid restrictions. We were the ONLY customers in the restaurant (well beside the steady stream of take out.) Y'all...their lunch special is CRAZY good. Almost as good as their buffet! The boxed lunch is a good deal but if you dine in, it's a bit different. You get to chose 3 plus rice and naan for $11. I had the chicken tikka masala, chicken currey and dal makhani. I wished it would have come with veg-pakora but since I ordered a side of samosas, definitely didn't miss it. Just writing this review is making me salivate...I think I'll order this again for lunch today!

I have gotten takeout for them several times so I can't really say anything about the service. I walked in. They rang me up. It wasn't too much back-and-forth with them. But the food is phenomenal. The garlic is topped here. I would recommend it to a friend.

TERRIBLE service! Staff was RUDE on the phone when I asked simple questions about quantity. Said "do you want the food or not?" Delivery was 20 MINUTES LATE, and when I calmly asked about the charges on receipt, the driver got upset, TOOK MY FOOD AND LEFT! cursed at me in hindi. I am a young duke student. Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. incredibly ARROGANT. College student should not be treated like this. Avoid this place.

Pleasantly surprised at the spice levels in the spicy lamb achari. Prices are on the higher side (~$20 per meat main) but the quality is good.

I was needing dinner and thought to order from this place right outside West Campus. I heard good things about this place and for good reason. I got the Chicken Tikka Masala with complementary rice and it tasted great. The flavor was rich but not too buttery nor oily. I enjoyed it but it was very filling, so I only had one serving. Would highly recommend to people getting their feet wet with Indian food. This is a good place to grab some.

First visit to Naan Stop, had been eyeing it for awhile and decided to try it. Oh my goodness- it was AMAZING! Butter chicken, samosas, and lamb entree was excellent. Definitely a must try if you like Indian food. I will be back- the service was EXCELLENT.

This was a great place to grab lunch. It was our first time, but the food was very tasty. We tried the chicken tikka as well as the garlic naan. The naan was DELICIOUS and the chicken came out sizzling with a side of rice. Overall, will definitely come back for lunch again.

Came for lunch buffet during week day with kid of 7 year old.. $17 for kids below age of 10 is very high considering the number of items and food quality.. taste was below average, nothing seemed fresh, naan was rough, don't have a non veg biryani.. nothing special about restaurant ambience.. extremely disappointed with experience

EDIT: Food is outstanding, and service just blew my mind. best Indian food and ownership you will find in the area. (Buffet is out of this world good). You HAVE to thy this place! I had originally left a negative review because we were sure that our cards had been stolen at this restaurant. Ownership immediately reached out, investigated thoroughly, and shared evidence that we were incorrect. The fact that they immediately reacted to this and investigated properly to get to the bottom line, is outstanding.

Food has taken a drastic downwards trend. The chicken tikka and chicken tikka Marsala used to be made with breast meat now it's a horrible stringy low quality chicken(leg quarters I believe) we generally order off Ubereats for pick-up or delivery, but there are no item descriptions now. I didn't think anything of it since I ordered what we always do, but yeah NOT THE SAME! I had to go look at their menu to see and in their website everything was changed to roasted chicken and took out chicken breast part. Nowhere does it say hey we changed our chicken and will no longer have chicken breast. We ordered from here quite often but will never go again after wasting $64.

The food was excellent. My main course was Rogan Josh. Very tasty and flavorful. The service was outstanding. The ambiance was meh. But the food made it worthwhile.

A big reason why I frequent this restaurant is it's proximity to the hospital where I work. More importantly, however, is that the food is outstanding and the owners are friendly. Proud to support this small business, even in COVID times. It's a busy establishment, and with COVID they get a ton of take-out orders. The Good: 1. Outstanding quality of food. It's a rich, heavy Indian meal for those who want classic dishes. By no means is it healthy, but if you are looking for phenomenal flavors, this is the spot to be. Their chicken and paneer dishes are mouth watering, and their naan is crispy and fresh. 2. The owners are friendly and down-to-earth folks. Makes me proud to be supporting a local joint! 3. Even for take-out, the food is HOT and FRESH every single time. The Bad: 1. Deducting half a star for the interior, I feel like there's not much of an effort to make it look nice. I understand it's COVID, but the place looks disheveled on the interior. 2. Taking another half a star off because of prices. I think that if this place sheds a couple dollars off their menu items, they will be a big hit. Great service and friendly staff!! My husband and i were looking for a new Indian restaurant closer to us and we stumbled across Naan Stop. We were immediately greeted by a friendly staff member who took or order. The place was nice and quiet when we got there, and we grabbed a seat at the bar. My husband decided to try an Indian beer for the first time and was recommended Old amino which he enjoyed, but what made it better was our waiter who brought out papadum for us to have with the beer. It was our first time trying it, and it was delicious! We ordered Chicken Tiki Masala and a Chicken Tiki along with Garlic & Aloo Naan as well as some samosas All of the food was amazingly delicious and there were no left overs!!! The Chicken Tiki Masala was deliciously creamy and i enjoyed dipping my garlic naan and samosa into the sauce. My husband enjoyed the Chicken Tiki as well!! It was our first time trying the Aloo Naan which is a stuffed naan and boy was it great! This place is definitely a new favorite of ours and we will be back!

Absolutely incredible food! I like to think of myself as having a pretty extensive range of Indian foods, and the butter chicken here is out of this world. Seriously. And the people who work here are so pleasant, just a wonderful experience. I couldn't recommend a place more!

Stopped here for dinner while visiting Duke and had an incredible meal! Although it looked like most guests came for take-out, I ate in the restaurant and the service was great. The chicken tikka masala was rich and flavorful. The garlic naan is not to be missed! Come hungry!

Close to west Duke campus, this gem in the triangle is an excellent sit-down or take out restaurant. We lived nearby and tried a decent chunk of the menu. The lamb saag, lamb curry, and Aloo Gobi Masala are frequent selections. The samosas and samosa chole chaat are excellent as well. The staff are friendly and efficient.

Naanstop easily has the best Indian food I've ever eaten. Every time I'm in durham this is the first place I eat. I've yet to find anything that compares in either NYC or the DC area, or any other state or country I've been in for that matter. I typically order the chicken tikka masala because I'm a pleb. Its just so ridiculously packed with flavor that it's made other place's chicken tikka look like glorified tomato soup. Each bite is just pure joy. The mixture of oils, tomato, spices, and herbs are very visually pleasing as well. Their daal makhani and chicken tikka (without the sauce) are also awesome. I'd be very surprised if anything here wasn't good. They also have a type of bread that I've never seen at any other indian place called makki ki roti which is made of corn and thus gluten free, which is also delicious. The only criticism I can provide is that It seems like occasionally the quality suffers when ordering at strange times. Food seems to come out best when ordered during typical busy hours for restaurants.

I'm fairly new to the whole Indian cuisine. I heard that this is probably one of the best Indian restaurants in the triangle so I had to try it! Ever since my visit, I have been naanstop thinking about going back for more! I went in for their famous lunch buffet on a Saturday morning, right when they opened. (DO IT!) They had so much food ready to get in my belly and I dove right in! They have A LOT of options- both meat and vegetarian. For someone new to Indian food like myself, I wish they had better labels on the food because I ended up trying just about everything, which is the perk of buffet, and I regret nothing haha Though I really wish they marked the food better so I knew what I liked and I didn't like. All of the food that I tried were very flavorful! A few of my favorites were chicken tikka masala, chicken curry, and aloo gobi! Even though I like my food spicy most of the time, I liked most of their food because of their strong flavor. I do wish they had more spicier options. I can't forget about their naan! It was delicious! My favorite part of the meal was probably cleaning the plate with my naan haha One thing I would recommend, do not try their desserts. You will be disappointed lol They were definitely not my kind of sweets. That's all I gotta say! Our server was very attentive and everyone was friendly. It's friendly to your wallet also! Very affordable for awesome Indian food. I heard that they have more options for dinner so I may come back to try their dinner sometime!

I'm not an expert on indian food so I can't say how this place ranks in terms of indian places in the triangle or the country or whatever. But it has never let me down in terms of quality, quantity, or service. The garlic naan and samosas are great to order in addition to their main dishes. Medium spice is pretty spicy (for someone who has an average to poor tolerance). My favorite things to order are the butter chicken and the lamb vindaloo.

Just ordered take out from here about 30 mins ago and I've already reached home and demolished the entire thing. Ordered aaloo paranthay (fresh flatbread stuffed with potatoes) and the boneless chicken tikka, which came with green chutney.... fresh, delicious, and absolutely perfect. I even have some leftovers for lunch tomorrow!! I think the best idea is to order/eat on busier days when you know everything will be made right then fresh. Indian food done right! 5/5!
