Ordered a dine in with 4 vegetarian items. The food here is very bland with limited taste. The potion size is small compared to other restaurants in the neighborhood. Overall.. Neither a value for money nor for taste. Can be avoided given that there are many better Indian food eat outs in the neighborhood.

Google
This place has some great food and they have a great environment, the environment made me feel great with some music and nice modern approach, staff was friendly. There are a few occasional stains here and there but nothing unsanitary. I would recommend this to anyone who is not Indian or anyone who doesn’t have a spice tolerance but wants to try the most flavorful food because they have options for less spice. This is a great restaurant and I would definitely eat here again. 9/10 would recommend.

My partner and I are a weekly costumer but today will be the last day to order from NaanWise. The food is really excellent but the service is horrible and we kinda of got used to it but lately they started to reduce the amount of chicken. Tonight we order three meals, we barely had a piece of chicken! Horrible! NEVER AGAIN NAANWISE!

Google
Good food. The menu is online and its accessed on the phone by using the qr code. The order is placed and paid for online as well. It's more simple than it sounds 😀 The service was quick and the portion sizes were decent as well. One tip - some gravies are similar so choose different styled options. Lastly, the best that I liked was the option to select "Desi" level of spice, which I like and ordered.

Google
Must try this lovely Indian cuisine. Their staff and food everything was amazing. We ordered their chicken biryani, chicken 65, dal tadka, naan and mango lassi. Everything was super tasty. Highly recommended!!

Google
Food was ok, there is certainly room for improvement - Poori was good, Veggie Manchurian needs a lot more work - tasted like dough, roti was average, Naan was good. Chicken biryani was too spicy, luckily the owner (I think) stopped by and offered excellent service by replacing the entire dish. Note that their spicy level is from Zero to Five with no Four (!?!), check this prior to ordering.

Restaurant was very peaceful and nice music. Staff definitely have good service and work hard. Food quality was great. Best Indian food I've had.

Google
Only went here for takeout. Host was very nice at pickup. Had cheese naan and saag paneer. The saag was too runny and didn't have the tastiest paneer. Cheese naan was good but overall meal didn't seem worth the price. Also a reminder to ask for utensils if you need them...I ended up without a fork in my hotel room!

Yelp
Note: this review is only based on take out. NaanWise is a reliable spot for Indian restaurant staples. My go tos are the vegetable pakora, vegetable samosas, chicken makhani (butter chicken), and lamb vindaloo. For the price I would have liked a little more meat in the curries, but that did not stop NaanWise from being my go-to Indian spot for several years (check out their sister restaurant Jab We Met, which is now my go to since moving).

Nadjia C.

Yelp
Had a great dinner with my sisters here. I ordered the lamb biryani, and it was delicious tender lamb with a perfectly seasoned rice and a yogurt-based sauce that brought everything together. I asked for no spice, but it still had a tiny hint of heat, which I actually enjoyed! My sisters started with the veggie samosas, which were generously filled and flavorful. For their entrees, they chose the tikka masala. While the portion was on the smaller side, they really liked it, and it paired perfectly with the garlic naan we ordered. The naan was warm and garlicky, a great complement to everything we tried!

Dan M.

Yelp
Just ok. The samosas are a bit over-fried, and the butter chicken and saag paneer are mostly sauce. Not bad, though, if you have a craving, it will get the job done. On the plus side, the garlic naan is excellent!

Paul J.

Yelp
Looking for a desperate respite from a slogging conference down the road, we stopped into NaanWise for a quick weekday lunch. We got the shrimp vindaloo, chicken curry, lentil soup and of course rice and naan. Service was quick, the food was flavorful and spicy, just the way I liked it. And the titular naan was soft and chewy, perfect to take our minds of the drudgery of the morning's meetings. After licking our plates clean, we headed back with full bellies and a little fire on our tongues. Next time we're in the neighborhood, it'll be NaanWise again!

Kelly D.

Yelp
Revolting. The worst Indian food I've ever had. I asked for "mild" Paneer and it had NO flavor. It tasted like jarred spinach baby food and the paneer was bitter. The chicken Makani was way too sweet and the chicken was so dry, I only chewed on one piece and gave up. The rice pudding is fake tasting, overly sweet has hardly any rice no nuts or spices worst version of desserts I've ever tasted.

Yelp
Naan Wise is a just okay Indian restaurant. The service we received was top notch for our pick-up order. We ordered online and our order was ready within 12 minutes, by the time we arrived at the restaurant to pick it up. However, the 15% "neighbor" discount promised on the website was not given. The food was okay. We ordered samosas to start. They were pretty good with a very crispy outside wrapper. The flavor of the veggies inside was good. However, there was not enough of the filling for the large amount of wrapper; the filling had contracted and there was a lot of empty space between the wrapper and the filling. The 2 sauces provided were very good with an appropriate amount of spice. The main courses were just okay. The chicken tikka masala lacked character and depth. The tomato sauce was bland, johnny one note. The chicken saag was the worst of the two. The creamed spinach sauce was overpowering - again, bland without a hint of the normally complex flavors that Indian food usually delivers. It was all spinach, all the time, and it overpowered the other flavors (to the extent there were any other flavors at all). Also, the quality of the chicken meat in the chicken saag was poor. The chicken meat in the chicken tikka masala was high quality white meat. I know that Naan Wise is close to my house but I doubt that we will be going back. There are other Indian restaurants that, while further away, consistently deliver higher quality Indian food!

Yelp
Takeout Review: A very good fine Indian cuisine experience. In the city this is one of my go-to restaurants for Indian cuisine. At this place you get authentic Indian flavors at a reasonable price. What I like most about this place is they are true to the heat levels, so order accordingly. If you choose medium or spicy spice levels expect true heat. I was very impressed with the quality of curry used in the chicken curry and lamb curry. The cardamon is so prevalent and in traditional fashion you get a hint of sweetness, warmth with the heat and depth of flavor. I really appreciate the focus on detail with some of their staple Indian dishes. I've tried various dishes and I always have a feeling of satisfaction in that I just ate a comfort meal. The focus on detail is comes into play with their takeout operation. The takeout food is so fresh. My drive home from the restaurant is approximately 20-25 minutes and the food still tastes restaurant quality fresh upon arriving home. My favorite dishes are virtually any curry dish. The naan is also delicious. I will continue to patronize and one of these days I will dine and and I anticipate giving it a 5* after my dine-in experience. Give them a shot.

James R.

Yelp
Naanwise is a pleasant Indian restaurant steps away from the Woodley metro stop. The dishes were generous and the restaurant did not skimp on rice (thank you). Service was quick and the restaurant is nicely decorated in an Indian motif. My Rogan Josh was tender and the sauce will seasoned.

Grace N.

Yelp
We come here or order from here every week. It's always delicious. I get the paneer makhani or shahi paneer with garlic naan every time.

Chris D.

Yelp
Stopped in by chance during a snow storm. Excellent! Food, ambience and service. We will be coming back.

Erik R.

Yelp
Food is very spicy. Their base level of 3 as far as level of heat, is most others 5. The dishes that ate traditionally very hot (spicy) are just that. Be careful and get enough food(s) that will help balance or subdue the smoldering flavors. The food is very good. The Lamb Vindaloo was very deep and robust. Nice chunks of Lamb.

Sheila G.

Yelp
The chicken biriyani and Chana masala were delicious. The chicken was tender. The bread basket was plentiful.

Anushka M.

Yelp
We were looking for a spot after walking around the zoo and came across Naanwise! Food is delicious, service is great and good portions. We ordered mango lassi, lamb biryani, lamb curry, chicken chettinad and garlic naan. The mango lassi was delicious and refreshing. We ordered all our food "medium spicy" which is a level 4 out of 6. Lamb biryani and lamb curry had soft and tender lamb pieces and both were great, the chicken chettinad was delicious and definitely spicy. One garlic naan gave 2 of us 2 pieces each. Overall all our food was great and we had enough for leftovers. It is pricier than we expected. We usually do order extra food at Indian restaurants to bring home leftovers, but typically it's not as much this. One recommendation: plastic bags or plastic containers would be better to carry leftovers. Ours started leaking and broke our paper bag within 20 minutes.

Sam M.

Yelp
Walked past it smelled so good I had to go in. The front of house staff were so nice and immediately made my to-go order

Anna M.

Yelp
My friends and I decided to get Naanwise for takeout last night- all I can say is you must try it, its soooo good! I got the medium spicy chicken tikka masala with a side of garlic naan & it absolutely hit the spot. They come with large portions and a perfect amount of sauce to eat with the naan/rice! Perfect for a rainy day meal or honestly just an anytime meal! Will definitely be coming back.

Ali M.

Yelp
Wanted to love this spot and routinely give top Yelp ratings... however, the family ended up not eating the food (so spicy our eyes hurt when we opened the food... lol... and I am Queen of spicy... the spicier the better... very seldom get anything too spicy for me). They had leftovers and frozen pizza instead. Side of Raitha missing, so no relief in sight if we endeavor to try it. Ordered via Uber Eats, so no way to fix the error. May try again sometime and order mild food, but we usually only like spicy (just not this level of FIRE). :)

Yelp
I found NaanWise on Yelp when searching for restaurants close to my hotel. I admit that the higher rating drew me here, but I now see this is because the place is still sorta newish (opening the summer before covid); so it hasn't completed its full "Yelp trajectory" yet. What I mean is: Where every new business starts out at 5 stars (I'm guessing friends & family have an impact). But then the rating eventually drops to somewhere between 3.5 and 4 as more and more reviews trickle in from the general public. Anyways...I was initially surprised that this 4.5 star restaurant was absolutely *dead* when I arrived at about 6:30 on a Wed night; I noted adjacent places nearby were much busier. In fact, I quickly realized that I was the only patron at NaanWise. I decided to sit outside, since the empty interior seemed a little depressing. Plus it was a nice evening. My food was quite good. The vegetable samosas were fresh and piping hot; these were attractively served with two sauces. And the chana masala hit the spot; the garbanzos were cooked perfectly. It wasn't the best version of this dish I've had, but I absolutely stuffed myself. Total price ended up being just under $30 incl tip - actually not that bad for this hood. Plus with the amount of food they gave me, I could have avoided overeating and taken home leftovers instead (i.e. if I wasn't staying in a hotel.) Not the best Indian food I've had but certainly a nice meal. I'd eat here again if I was a local. I hope they get more customers, and I wish them luck in their trajectory.

Yelp
Great food for a reasonable price! There's something for everyone. My friends and I came here on a weekday night and we had a great time. Super easy to get to as it's right in front of the metro stop and there was a decent amount of parking on the streets. It wasn't too packed on a weekday night, as we were able to get seated right away. The host/servers were so nice and the wait times for food were incredibly fast. I also appreciated that servers asked you for spice preference when ordering. I was able to request that our dishes not be too spicy (mild/medium). My friends and I did family-style dining, so we could try a bunch of dishes. What we got: - Chaat Pappri: Great appetizer to start with! Flakey and crisp, but at the same time carries so much flavor from the sauces. - Garlic Naan: Great side to have (get rice too!). We were able to eat the dishes with both rice and naan as sides. - Chicken Makhani: Otherwise known as butter chicken. Highly recommend you get this dish! All my friends loved it. This paired with the garlic naan was amazing. - Saag Paneer: Compared to other saag paneers, Naanwise seems to make theirs a slightly different way. Still delicious! But I didn't find it as good as the makhani and korma. - Lamb Shashi Korma: This was my favorite dish. Not too spicy, but has a bit of kick to it- just enough to taste the lamb! Overall, great selection of meat and vegetarian dishes! Definitely check it out.

Madison S.

Yelp
Got dinner here for takeout when I didn't feel like cooking and it hit the spot. The garlic naan is huge and was delicious, also got the chicken tikki masala - the chicken was a little tough and would've appreciated smaller chunks. Would enjoy trying more dishes! Super fast casual spot.

Yelp
Taking care of the neighborhood. 15% off on local delivery for locals who have said very nice things about the place. I went to the restaurant and instead of pickup decided to sit outside and eat. Why not? It might have been 27 degrees outside, but Naanwise had a tent, a heater and warm hearts that made them more uncomfortable trying to make me comfortable outside (I was). The onion mulch's was perfect! Thin and oniony in places and breast in other places. Also kept the fingers warm. Veggie korma was also terrific! Lots of string beans and onions. Not too many potato's. And creamy and steamy. Came out super hot and had to let it cool down a bit. And plenty of rice too. Portion size was a bit more than one meal and the food was very enjoyable.

Yelp
I was craving Indian food (thanks baby in my belly), so my husband and I decided to make a stop at Naanwise after hearing good things. We came here on an early Friday evening and it was surprisingly empty. The restaurant uses a QR code based ordering system, so you can take your time with ordering and closing the tab when you're ready to leave. There is also a server who comes around to refill your water and check-in to see if you need anything. I was impressed at how everything we ordered was flavorful and delicious. We got the vegetable samosas, shahi paneer, aloo gobi, and some rotis and puri (so, so good!). The portions were generous and the food came out lightning-fast. Also, the restaurant offers five spice levels for the entrees, which is really helpful if you're dining with people who have different levels of spice tolerance. All in all, this is a solid spot for Indian food and we will definitely be coming again!

Homer T.

Yelp
Some of DC's best Indian food and service! Happy hour drinks a great added bonus. Get the garlic naan right meow!!!!!

Jane P.

Yelp
Heard that NaanWise had some great Indian food and decided to check it out. To be honest I didn't have high expectations but it was actually a really solid place to get Indian food if you're in the area. Loved that the food wasn't pooling in oil but it was still flavorful and delicious. +Garlic Naan: Must try! Loved that it was very garlicy plus it was the perfect texture and it was made hot/fresh to order. I've had many a Naan in my life and this is definitely up there. Not too oily/buttery but just the right amount. I think I could honestly eat these straight up as a snack. +Lamb saag: Loved that the meat was very tender and it wasn't gamey at all. It was soaked in sauce. Ordered it with medium spice and it had a nice little kick but it keeps making you come back for more. It's definitely a good dish to order and try out if you love lamb. +Chicken biriyani: Ordered this as mild spice (0 on their spice level) and you know a dish is good when it's still flavorful without having to be spicy. Plus the chicken was super tender and flavorful too. Great as a stand alone dish or shared with other dishes. Had some leftover and it heated up nicely. +Mango lassi: Nice and refreshing drink to enjoy with your meal. It wasn't too sweet or too tart and it was creamy and smooth - yum! +Samosa: Got to try the vegetable samosa and there was a bit of heat! But the outer shell was nice and crispy and it paired well with the sweet tamarind sauce and chutney. Service was also very nice! Overall a great place to check out if you're in the mood for Indian food.

Nina Z.

Yelp
This is the best Indian food in DC! Even my own dad (immigrated from Gujarat) would agree. I've ordered so many different things and all of it is absolutely delicious. Some of my favorite things to get are: papadum, the mixed platter of pakora (includes samosa), lamb curry, dal makhani, paneer tikka masala, puri and kneer. I seriously love this place, and I recommend everyone try!

Priya R.

Yelp
Came here for dinner on a weekday and it was pretty empty but the ambience was nice. Service was great. Food was pretty good too! For Apps, the Chilly Paneer was good and very spicy! Aloo goat cheese tiki was alright. Honey garlic shrimp was cooked perfectly, flavor was good. Garlic naan was so good in texture and taste and buttery! For the Mains- Chicken Vindaloo was great and had tender pieces of chicken but I don't think it was spicy at all as it claims to be. But other wise good! Shahi Paneer was creamy and comforting. Paneer Burji was alright! Nice place.

Chris C.

Yelp
This is a relatively new restaurant in the neighborhood, opened about two years ago.  If not for the pandemic would for sure have tried it much earlier.  Finally decided to order takeout after biking past it for the umpteenth time and remembering it's a place we've been wanting to try for a while. They have a good website for online orders and generous 15% off promo code (good incentive for not ordering through a delivery service).  We got keema samosa, honey garlic shrimp, lamb saag, chicken chettinad, and garlic naan.  Everything was quite satisfying and it was nice you could choose spice levels - medium spicy seems to be just right.  The keema samosa with minced lamb might a bit too dry, but the chicken chettinad - first time trying this variety - is super flavorful and the honey garlic shrimp is a must try. Portions are generous - our two apps two mains plus naan and rice is way too much food for the two of us so there is enough leftover for another meal.  With the promo code at about $47 before tax and tip it was about average price for the area and good value. They are open now for in and outdoor dining as well - the square dining room is light colored and bright with booth seats on opposite sides, unused row of tables in the middle for distancing purposes.  The uncovered outdoor patio is quite spacious but could use more perimeter barrier or plants to make it feel less exposed, since although the sidewalk here is extra wide this is a very busy section of Woodley Park with a lot of foot traffic.

Luana C.

Yelp
Overall: Tasty, well-priced, and quickly prepared food. Tastiness: Some of the best samosas I've ever eaten. Solid selection of vegetarian, vegan, as well as meat dishes. I will have to explore more next time, but for the first experience, I can recommend the Garlic Naan, Gulab Jamun, Fried Chillies, Lamb Biryani, Rogan Josh, Vegetable Samosas. Presentation: Did not eat at the restaurant, so I can only refer to the well-package food we got for take-out. Service: 20-min turn-around from when I placed the order on Yelp and when I was able to pick-up the food in the restaurant. Price: Very affordable for NW DC.

Daniel R.

Yelp
Very tasty Indian food in Woodley Park! Delicious meat and vegetarian options and super fast delivery and takeout.

Sherene A.

Yelp
This shit is expensive. Period. I just moved to DC and am on a mission to find solid Indian food bc, most of the time, what I've found is trash. I decided to order a few items from here to give it a go: Tandoori sampler, lamb vindaloo and malai kofta. Can I just tell you HOW disappointing it is, to get a tandoori sampler that's supposed to have shrimp and lamb and chicken..... And you get your order and there's one shrimp, a handful of lamb, but an abundance of dry AF chicken? Noooooooo boo on you all for being so cheaaaaaap for something that costs over $20!! Shame shame! The lamb vindaloo had great flavor---but i HATE when I get Indian food and I have to POUR the top layer of oil off. It doesn't have to be like this y'all. Indian food cooked by Indian mothers in our homes DOES NOT DO THIS! Sad that the chucks if lamb were hard as hell and not tender whatsoever. And then for what is always my favorite dish....Malai Kofta. Now, I'm a fan of just plain ole Kofta curry. That's where they hold the over abundance of cream and you get a deeper color gravy. So that's what I asked for--hold the cream please. Of course, that's not what I got. It's a special and rare Indian restaurant that does this. This wasn't the one today lol. Malai Kofta can be delicious ..but often times, the cream just drowns out that really full and robust flavor that it *could* have. So...while the veg dumplings were lovely, it was all in a very subdued curry. The puri was amazing. Love love it. Fuck a naan...I always go for the puri. So all in all, I wouldn't avoid this place...but the search continues for decent food. Oh--all if this food, plus a 15% tip cost over a hundred dollars. I won't even go into that....bc ...just...sad.

Matthew D.

Yelp
I came through with some colleagues for a light dinner. They have a number of cashew-based dishes and I'm super allergic to cashews so I had some limitations on what I could order. What I did order was great though! We shared a Cheesy Naan and a Chicken Naan. They both looked a little greasy but did not taste or feel greasy. Both were light and very flavorful. I also got the Honey Garlic Shrimp which was packed with flavor. Overall it was a great eating experience with great food.

Chenée T.

Yelp
I was excited to try the Indian food in the Woodley Park area, but it was very very disappointing. My order of chicken korma lacked depth and tasted like it was barely seasoned. The aloo saag mostly tasted like under seasoned creamed spinach with potatoes thrown in. The garlic naan arrived kind of damp and not very fluffy either. While the food itself wasn't completely terrible, it was just meh. This would be the last Indian restaurant I choose to visit in the area after having gotten better Indian food elsewhere.

James L.

Yelp
Ordered takeout via grubhub--easy and quick! Tried the saag paneer and the chicken tikka masala. Both had good flavor. But the saag paneer had very little paneer, and the chicken was unfortunately quite dry. I'll probably order from here again in a pinch, but won't go too far out of my way. From what I saw of the interior, the dining area appears very nice, so I'd also be open to trying in person dining here when the pandemic calms down.

Denise S.

Yelp
Great food and nice atmosphere. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The food was excellent. It was within walking distance from my hotel. Will definitely come back if I'm in the area. The naan bread was very light but tasteful.

Maria Alejandra J.

Yelp
Really good bread and curry Nice and friendly staff Good location at Woodley park. I will come back!

Monish S.

Yelp
We've dined here for my birthday and also ordered delivery and we enjoyed everything both times! This most recent time, we got Paneer Masala, so yummy and creamy! I miss the Chicken Tikka Masala sauce but my girlfriend does not eat chicken, so I was happy to have this cheese, vegetarian paneer option! I also got the Lamb Saag which was also very flavorful. Their samosas are huge and delicious, we always get two orders! The cheese naan and garlic naan are both yummy! Lots of vegetarian options! The small delivery fee using GrubHub from the Yelp app. Very reasonable for delivery and enough food for two meals for us! We saved our left over masala sauce and add on tofu the next day, no food waste! Support local business, I love this place!

Sanjay J.

Yelp
NanaWise serves original Indian ethnic flavoured food, Bread ( Naan) fresh prepared in clay oven , delicious Indian curry , travel from VA to check out this place, very impressed and satisfied with quality of the food, Serving staff gives warm hospitality, owner is very friendly , Definitely going back .

Mary T.

Yelp
Our go to when we are in DC. They seem to have a busy carry out business, so the restaurant never feels crowded. Which is fine, always the staff to be more attentive.

Michelle V.

Yelp
NaanWise wasn't the best Indian place that I've ever been to but it was satisfying to fulfill the craving. The service was also pretty good - the food came out at a timely manner and our waitress was very kind. We had the Chicken 65 and the vegetable samosas as appetizers. The Chicken 65, although filled with spices, was missing something. Maybe a little more salt or a splash of lemon juice for acidity? The samosas were great though. crisp on the outside and filled with flavorful and got vegetable filling on in the inside. It went perfectly with the green and dark plum colored sauces. The green sauce was like a tangy semi spicy cilantro yogurt sauce and the dark plum was a sweeter sauce. I ordered the Rogan Josh on level medium. At first, I didn't think they had added my spi ones to my dish, but it definitely builds more as you eat and still was at a comfortable eating level. I really liked the flavor of the Rogan Josh. It's similar to a Tikka Masala but less sweet/tomato-y and a bit more spiced. The lamb, however, was not as tender as I'd expect it to be. For an Indian dish, the meats should be to the point of melt in your mouth, but this lamb was almost at times tough to even cut up. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and no big complaints, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go again. There are better Indian places closer to me.

Ronin B.

Yelp
I was anxiously awaiting a new Indian restaurant to open close by. Easiest way to summarize? It's geared to tourist and hotel patrons in both quality and price. Aka high price. Mid to low quality. More in depth summary. Maybe they signed a lease that required these prices? In which case I can't fault them for the pricing, but the quality always need to meet or exceed the pricing. Maybe outrage should go to the Commercial Property Management company for making it impossible to open a business that's not a 7-11 or CVS.... $7 for a vegetable samosa is ridiculous. Just down the street you can find them for $2.95 from above average non formal Indian spots in Adams Morgan. $16 for all chicken dishes means you're spending $50 for 2 entrees (you won't be taking anything to go) and 1 appetizer (small appetizer) The chicken was tough all white meat chicken. I rarely ever need a sharp knife for takeout chicken. My typical butter knife wasn't enough to cut thru the chicken. The flavor was mehhh. It felt artificially spicy. Like someone just poured Tabasco Sauce over everything right at the end. The naan was bland and not "Indian Naan" - it was "Lebanese Naan" with some garlic thrown on and put in a panini press. Not an oven and certainly not a coal/fire oven. All in all. I will personally never order again because of the cost/value equation. Was the food horrible? No (it's fast food Indian) Was it great? Definitely No. (I felt nothing authentic about it) If the prices were half what they currently charge. I'd order it, on occasion, if I craved Indian, and no one else was open. That's the reality of it. What's my qualification for reviews? I order takeout 7 days a week. For me to put Naanwise into the regular rotation to compete with other restaurants (not just Indian) in the area. They'd have to provide their tikka masala entree and samosa out the door for under $17 and step the quality up from a 4/5 to a 6/7. Otherwise they can't compete with the value/quality that's out there locally. Not to mention. When you're first pic is a text graphic of "Yelp is a scam" - clearly you're worried. Can yelp put business owners in an unfair position against wreckless/wanton reviewers? Yes. But I hope most people, like myself, take ratings and reviews with a grain of salt. YELP is only useful if people read reviews and decide if there is merit behind what is said or if people are just petty. 1 Star is for restaurants that I wouldn't order from again because the quality of the food is disproportionate to the price.

Papa W.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised by this little gem. I enjoyed some lentil soup for a starter and the tried and true coconut chicken curry for the main course with garlic naan bread. The soup was very nice with cilantro in it which was a nice addition. The coconut curry was right on target with the creamy sauce full of flavor and the chicken was very tender. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Overall average. Good variety of options in the menu. They have 5 different spice levels which is not common (mild, regular, medium spicy, spicy and desi spicy). Tomato soup - by far above average. 8/10 Aloo tikki - 8/10. It was gluten free as well. Crispy and crunchy. This is not easy to make GF So, i would give 10/10 Chicken tikka - mild was also regular for me, but nixely made - 7/10 Naan - amazing. I willgive 11 out 10 rating. Saag paneer - below average - 5/10. It did not have much taste. And could have been grinded well. Veg manchurian - 5/10. They seemed to have use gobi machurian sauce on veg manchurian. Blooper Ras malai - 4 on 5 Gajar halwa - 3.5 on 5 (could cook more)

Yelp
Food was sort of meh. We tried the black daal (watery and not amazingly flavored), the cauliflower and potatoes (relatively bland), and the lamb rogan josh (good but didn't blow us away). Overall not an especially memorable experience.

Yelp
Would definetly recommend. If you like spice try regular. The ordering was different, no paper menu, you order your food online.

Yelp
This Woodley Park Indian restaurant is a relatively new addition to the neighborhood. (As a longtime resident - 25+ years - anything younger than five years is relatively new!) And...it's a real asset! Its eponymous naan breads are a fluffy delight and always piping hot. Their standard menu items are all top notch, but it's the chicken makhani that kills it for me. I've ordered it at least thirty times and have NEVER been disappointed. The only thing that varies is the heat. I like it mild; my wife likes it even milder, so we jog back and forth. Delightful, friendly service and fabulous mango lassis help round up a memorable experience...whether you're eating in or taking out. Oh! And the portions are generous and the price point is great! What's not to like?! Nothing!

Yelp
First time there, was looking to try something for dinner on a weekday evening. Nice outdoor seating area with covered seating and string lights, near Woodley Park metro station. I eat low carb and nearly everything came with rice. I looked at the outside menu on a wall a while before getting seated. I was going to ask first about the menu but the waitress only offered to seat me and was busy so I got seated outside at an available table and waited to talk with her. She brought a nice chilled bottle of water and a glass, which I didn't touch as I wanted to know more about the menu first. The waitress didn't speak English well and could not answer questions about low carb options. She went back to ask someone else and came back saying no substitutions. That was pretty surprising to me, I had asked if could have some yogurt or spinach instead of rice, which seemed like a fairly basic question. Decided not to order anything, as most of the dishes had a lot of gravies that probably had flour in them and the tandoori items said they take 20 minutes to prepare and all the entrees seemed to come with rice and/or bread. They had a fair selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes, but not many low carb sides and no options to get low carb dishes that included meat. I appreciate the fellow Yelp reviewers that rated this restaurant but I had not seen anyone else mention that they are not good for people with food restrictions or substitutions.

Yelp
We a family reunion dinner here. The food was amazing! Planned it all long distance and they were super with customer service. The palak chaat and Goat BIryani was excellent. Lovely ambiance and great service. Thanks to Kumar and all the staff for making it a fun evening for us all.

Yelp
Great food and service! We ordered the chicken curry, lamb curry, shahi paneer, palak chaat, and garlic naan. They let us chose the spice levels for each dish as well

Yelp
LOVE the food here! Delicious, yummy and quality comfort food !!!! Folks, I can't recommend NaanWise more highly. I just had a horrible customer experience at Le Mirch restaurant and I told the angry owner (who had made racist remarks to me) that they need to work on preparing better quality food -- and cited NaanWise as a prime example. I will never go to anyone but NaanWise for my go-to Indian catering.
