Cute place that serves both sweet and savory pastries! They also serve pizza that switches daily with a crunchy, thin crust that's absolutely delicious. I also love getting their focaccia! Definitely more of a take-out place since the place is super small and they only have a few tables outside, but definetely a place that you should check out if you're in the area!

Nice bakery next to a toy store. On a cool breezy morning, lovely to come here, grab a shatteringly crisp chocolate croissant and a tea. There are little tables outside - but too exposed to the wind. I also tried the chocolate bread pudding- which was delicious!

Solid bakery specializing in just a few things, which serves occasional savory dishes like pizza. The pizza beats what you get from almost anything in Elmwood, save Summer Kitchen, Donato, and Casa Barotti. Service is efficient.

This is a great local establishment with close ties to the community. They advocate for various causes and beliefs to improve society. On top of everything else, their food is phenomenal! We have never been disappointed with our orders!

Been meaning to try this neighborhood spot nd while I still enjoyed it, I won't go out of my way to have it again. Got the orange cardamom knot, pistchio snail, and focaccia. Both the cardamom knot and pistachio snail lacked flavors from the orange cardamom and pistachio respectively. They were both pretty doughy with little flavor, so perhaps more suited to those who just love a good puff pastry. They're also coated in a sugary syrup which makes them tough to bite through. Really enjoyed the focaccia because I love onion and fennel (flavor of the day), but they were sitting out in the cold so they became tough. Loved the outdoor seating when the sun is out though

Quite a nice little spot and certainly less crowded than the bakery at the corner. We got some rhubarb pastry, a chocolate almond croissant, and some focaccia (pizza?) with Bulgarian feta that was very tasty.

Came here on a Saturday morning. There was a line but it moves fast. So many good looking pastries to choose from. I only got the lemon twist because I was having lunch later but if I wasn't I definitely would have ordered more. The lemon twist was really good, nice texture and not overly sweet. I would order it again for sure. Next time I visit I can't wait to try more things. Don't have a photo of the lemon twist because I ate it so fast but just know that it was tasty :)

Service: although, YES, we were "THAT PERSON" who arrived right at the minute of closing - and the woman rushed us so rudely, she was probably 1 foot away from PHYSICALLY pushing us OUT the door and pulling in her sign and shutting the door..... but don't you want to sell your freshly baked goods?!?! my description is NOT an exaggeration. Croissants: i hate to say this, but it was like a Costco croissant, and I think Costco does it better... BUTTTTT Pizza: amazing pizza and crust and toppings. I wouldn't come back unless in the area, as there are better pizza spots in the area.

Unique bakery and pizza spot but odd hours and sells out quickly. Prices are similar to Tartine - which is at the high end. I really love this bakery and the vibe and its the perfect place to hang out on a Friday night. This is a unique spot. Offerings are unique - and what I liked most was when I walked through the door I was in a bakery - not some Instagram Tic tok space - that is all too common these days. Things were designed as a place to bake goods and function rather than what might look good on some three second video. If your late expect pizza to be sold out. That alone isn't a problem - it just shows the popularity of the place. I didn't get to try it but I think its probably one of the highlights of the place and people always compare it to Cheeseboard - so that says a lot. Had the focaccia - and wasn't overly impressed with it. I'm honestly not even sure what it is and I looked up that word 'focaccia' already once or twice in a dictionary. I suppose its similar to pizza but just doesn't qualify on some sort of technicality. It's closer to flavored bread than it is pizza. Other items I had were the twice baked cardamom knot and the Bostock. The knot was very dry and I wasn't a fan. It was 'twice baked' so I should have expected something like that. The Bostock was a 10/10. It was a unique croissant loaf if I understand correctly. It had lots of almond flavor and wasn't at all dry. Overall, come for perfect ambiance and know the hours before you come. Desserts can be hit or miss.

Stop your second-guessing and go, now! I have never in my 62 years of life had a croissant as good as the ones you will find at NABLOM. Every Saturday, my husband and I treat ourselves; the calories are worth it. Don't even think twice. The tiny storefront is a gem you could easily walk by. It is so European, with no gauche signage (is there a sign?) Small cafe tables dot the sidewalk. We were told that the croissants are made with a sourdough starter (as croissants are made in France), "They are a labor of love; if you try to make a profit, you're f*$ked." God bless the bakers at NABLOM, don't change.

Came here to try the pizza! I've always walked by but finally decided to give it a try. The inside is pretty small and you order at a counter and your food is handed to you at a different door they have outside. I ordered one slice and they were pretty quick with it. The flavor that day was a mushroom pizza with corn and kale. The crust was a little thicker than I like for sauce less pizza's, but it was very soft and was balanced out by the amount of cheese and toppings. The toppings were also flavorful! My only complaint is that they were slightly burnt. They gave me a sauce on the side which complimented the pizza nicely. It was pretty spicy, but had great flavor!

I love this place! The raspberry orange scone is what keeps me coming back here. The texture and flavor is just perfect. Keep in mind, if you are paying via card, it is a $10 minimum.

Popped in late morning and bought the focaccia. Delicious! Super fresh. Great stream lined take out line. Great friendly service

I used to come here all the time before the lockdown. Now not so much. Things have changed. Decent coffee but their pastries are inconsistent. Some days the pastries are delicious and some days their pastries are just okay. Once in a while the pastries taste like they are 1 or 2-days old. Not flaky and light but semi-hard and stale. I never had their pizza though. Service is more personable now that they no longer require masking.

Stopped by the bakery last Saturday and tried the Lemon Twist--it was amazing. Sticky, flaky, airy, and chewy, like a rich, buttery croissant. Can't wait to go back and try more.

i absolutely love nabolom - the savory twist is phenomenal and their sourdough is crusty, soft, chewy, amazing. i shared some with my housemates who saw me cutting this behemoth for no less than fifteen minutes and they both said it was the best bread they'd ever had. sophia and maile are the best and had great recommendations!!

Two things I love: Trying new bakeries and feeding my nephews to plump them up..... and eat them. When visiting my sister and nephews, I like sharing the love and bringing treats. I arrived early enough where the almond croissant was fresh out of the oven with its sweet center still hot and oozy-- kudos to the staff for letting me know. The morning bun is probably one of the best I've had so far. The outside its flaky and crusty and the inside was nice and soft. Im a crust person so immediately I was drawn to the pecan tart which is 95% tart... jk its not but let me tell you, they don't skimp on the crust. The pecan filling wasn't too sticky or pecany. It was just the perfect ratio of everything.

Flakey croissants , delicious danish and pan o chocolate all received as a gift for brunch . Buttery yumminess!

I love their scones and look forward to my scone treats on weekends. The chocolate cake is also amazing. My husband sticks with the danishes or croissants-which are flaky and crispy without spraying shards everywhere. The staff is really quick and capable. I just wish the pizza wasn't so garlic- forward, but I'm clearly in the minority here.

I love this place. It's a cute little bakery that sells fresh pastries. I'm addicted to their lemon twists. I haven't seen any other bakeries around here offering that. It's so sweet and fluffy, especially when you have time to heat it up.

Croissants Croissants Croissants! This place, tucked in a corner of a busy cute neighborhood in Berkeley, is a bakery full of great breads, sweets, and of course delicious pain au chocolate and croissants. The croissants are flakey, buttery, and reheat in the toaster oven really well. Service is top notch, there isn't really a lone line unlike some other bakeries in SF. Parking is usually ample with either neighborhood parking (free) or street parking. Ambiance is quite nice, as it looks like a traditional Boulangerie inspired place with breads and pastries proudly displayed and featured . I would recommend that you give them a call beforehand to check if your pastry is in stock to avoid disappointment. Sometimes they sell out but a call will save you a trip!

It was good and the pizza was unique but there are better bakeries and pizza places nearby.

Phenomenal Berkeley TREASURE. You can taste "love" in every bite! Their pizza & focaccia that are out of this world & their morning buns, flaky croissants, & unique savory turmeric scones are staples. Love their deli shelf items & drinks as well. Cozy, comfort, culinary delights offered by beautiful souls abound this one-of-a-kind bakery.

Always great service. The viennoiseries are excellent (the morning bun among the very best in the area, I think). I'm a classic margherita guy, so I don't order the pizzas but those whom I trust swear by them.

I came to this bakery more than a year ago by chance and I didn't remember the name or where exactly it was located. I know (eye roll) my mom and I happened to be driving by that morning and she stopped at a business close by and I saw this bakery and went and got something. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, I came here early on a Saturday morning by chance again because the kids and I were looking for a bakery in the Albany/Berkeley area and came upon this one. The lady (who I suppose is the owner) was so very sweet. She gave my kids free meringue for them to try, which I thought was such a sweet gesture. We ordered a variety of baked goods, both sweet and savory. The cheese twist bread was delicious. It had so much flavor when warmed up at home. The kids enjoyed their pastries. They got the cinnamon twist and the chocolate croissant. My mom enjoyed the regular butter croissant and her scone. I was a big fan of that cheese twist bread. I also had the savory bread pudding... It was just okay, I wasn't really a big fan of it. I don't know, I just had a higher expectation for it because of how delicious it looked but my expectations were not met. Customer service: 5/5 stars The owner was so warm and welcoming. I love businesses that are welcoming to their customers. It makes such a huge difference. Parking: Street parking available. Might have to pay because of parking meters. Baked goods: 4/5 stars... Despite me not being a fan of the savory bread pudding, my family and I enjoyed the other baked goods. Overall: I would give Nabolom a 4/5 stars. I'm so happy that I was able to find this bakery again. I will definitely be back in the future. Thank you to the owner, who was so sweet and kind to my kids and I. 3-3.5 stars for this visit, but rounding down since the person I interacted with seemed very impatient and was not helpful at all. They were also out of a lot of items by 11:30am on a Sunday (like their cinnamon twists and almond croissants). They also serve brunch items and pizza, and there are tables if you prefer to dine in. Parking was easy when I went, and street parking options were available.

I tried the pizza here after hearing some good reviews about it, but honestly didn't think it was anything too special. Especially comparing it to Sliver and Cheeseboard, I didn't think the texture or flavor was as good as those. The pizza of the day had onions and goat cheese on it (which I'm personally not a big fan of so that could be another reason), and while it was thin and crisp, I felt that it was lacking a bit. The crust got quite tough and hard to chew once the slice started cooling down, but I did enjoy the caramelized cheese on top. They also give the little sliver with your slice. I'd probably not get the pizza again, but would come back to try the pastries next time.

The pastries at Nabolom are absolutely divine! They're selling two new twists - one savory and one sweet. I've tried both, and they converted me to a Nabolom superfan. The savory twist has caramelized onion and gruyere cheese, and is absolutely packed with flavor. My friend tried a bite and dubbed the twist a "flavor bomb." The sweet rye twist has Nutella and hazelnuts. Both have the most incredibly flaky layers! Wow!! Nabolom is my favorite bakery in the area and will be a go-to for me from now on. Seating is outdoors only during covid. They have a $10 minimum for card purchases, so bring cash or plan to purchase multiple items. They are open in the mornings and early afternoons. Small lines on the weekends, but nothing too bad.

We love this local bakery, amazing breads, pizza and cookies. We always end out Berkeley food tours with a slice of their Chocolate Bread Pudding. It sells out fast so make sure to get their early or call to reserve a slice. Absolutely amazing.

Menu updated 10/5/2022 Incredible bakery! Every time we visit we have to stop by for their delicious pastries. Our favorites are chocolate croissant, cinnamon twist & chocolate chip cookies. But beware closed on Mondays & Tuesdays so plan ahead! Also they raised their prices a bit but still worth it!

Early for my manicure and stopped nearby for a snack. This co-op bakery has been around for years, yet I've only been there maybe one other time for a slice of pizza. I recall it wasn't for me. So I tried the Savory Twist. Gruyere cheese twisted with a flaky pastry and doused with seeds. Not sure what kind of seeds or seasoning, but it was good. I wouldn't make a special trip, but if I'm in the neighborhood, I'll stop in. A clean store with a kind staff.

I'm giving this 5 stars because my gosh the pizza is amazing. Don't love the policies but I'll always go back for this pizza.

Considering this didn't even make the first page of Yelp search results for "pizza" in Berkeley, Nabolom is probably the best kept secret I've had in recent years. I'm also tempted to not post this review because it would pain me to see the hungry hordes descend but the pizza here is just too good to not share and spread the wealth. Having been a diehard Cheeseboard fan for years and years (I will at least try anything they put on a pie, no matter how weird it sounds, because somehow they almost always make it work!), I knew I had to try this place when a friend who feels similarly said that Nabolom had toppled Cheeseboard for the coveted crown of best pizza. After trying a half baked pie of roasted tomato, goat cheese, and fresh herbs, I had to agree that it was amazing and definitely a contender. Even my husband who usually finds goat cheese to be gamey liked it because it was that good! Their crust is crispier than Cheeseboard, which has more of a chew to it. It's hard for me to honestly say which place I prefer as I'm sure it has a lot to do with the toppings. Both places make amazing crusts, which is the essential starting point to a good pie. From there, it might come down to personal preference and what toppings you happened to try when you visited. I liked both places better than Sliver (another popular spot started by ex-Cheeseboard folks). The thing is, our friend told us he personally thinks the pizza is better in person because Nabolom's super hot oven gives the pizza a nice char that he said takes it to the next level. I didn't really need another excuse to come back but now I have one. I love me a good pizza and Nabolom makes some of the finest.

Solid pizza, unfortunately I have to compare it to Cheeseboard and don't think it's as flavorful. The pizza of the day was: corn, zucchini, pasilla pepper, etc. I liked the crust and veggies but unfortunately thought it was rather flavorless. Maybe they didn't put the garlic olive oil on because I didn't taste it? But regardless the parbaked pizza cooked up nicely in my oven. I like their green sauce (sort of like a chimichurri), but it wasn't clear if I could buy a tub of it. I would prefer it if it were spicier. Their pizza is a few dollars more expensive than Cheeseboard but appears to be bigger. Overall not a bad option! I would love to come back in the daytime to try some of the pastries.

Decent bakery located on college. They sell out early on weekdays and weekends, and require masks. Minimum charge for credit card is $10

Cheeseball bun was pricey and very hard and dry if it was bigger there would be more soft insides to eat so i fed it to some wild animals their sesame cookie was too healthy tasted like a shuffle board puck i took it home snd pit cream cheese on it and it tasted good their other cookies are good and large but too soft though no crispy crunchy bite at all just crumbly no bread loafs left at the end of the day no pizza left just dried looking focaccia bread slices i asked them if they have a menu but they didn't respond i later noticed a partial menu on a tiny chalk board in the window high up which was hard to read unfortunately

Pastries are ON POINT!!! There is some huge competition in the area but Nabolom blows the competition away in many respects. The service is friendly and efficient. The only downside is that they keep being out of almond croissants when I visit. Luckily, they've never been out of chocolate almond croissants and chocolate croissants. I haven't tried their focaccia bread or bread pudding but plan to soon!

Hmm... well, the baked the goods that I've had from here were delicious but I can't really say the same about their pizza. Although I admit that I've finally come around when it comes to enjoying thin vegetarian pizza, I still wasn't a huge fan of this one. I spend a lot of time in the Elmwood area for lunch and was looking for a new place to try when I discovered Nabolem one day. I had passed by it several times but had no idea that it was actually a bakery. A BAKERY??? I'll always make enough time to explore those (wink wink). The shop is kind of hidden from street view and located on the side of the street right next to Sweet Dreams candy shop and across from 7-eleven. They carry a host of different baked goods including cookies, croissants, morning buns, bread pudding, macaroons, muffins, cheese rolls, and etc. If my wallet and tummy could take it, I would have probably gotten one of each. BUT... I had to settle on cookies and pizza which I think is still pretty fair. The cookies... to DIE for! I had their oatmeal and their gingerbread, and both tasted exquisite. Soft and a little gooey in the middle, a bit crunchy on the edges, and wholly fragrant... just how I like 'em. Those cookies were actually the highlight of my trip. I would come back solely for the cookies, especially the oatmeal one. That one was my absolute fave! Now, about that pizza... it was just meh. Their pizza is similar to that of Cheese Board/Arizmendi/Sliver which consists of a think sliced vegetarian pizza with one flavor of the day. Their flavor that day was roasted bell pepper, pesilla, onion, fennel, French goat cheese, garlic olive oil, and herbs. The flavor, while a bit overwhelming with all of the ingredients, was actually very tasty. However, I wasn't a huge fan of the actual consistency of the pizza itself. I found it to be a little too thin and very dry. It almost tasted a little overcooked to be honest. It wasn't crunchy but the bread was just really dry. They had two dipping sauces (chimichurri and pesto) which kind of helped, but the chimichurri sauce was so spicy that it took away from the flavor of the pizza. I prefer the green sauces at Cheese Board and Sliver, but it was nice to try them both. Inside is well lit and they have a few tables for dining in. Nothing too appealing about the interior other than the delicious looking pastries in their glass encasing. Service was adequate but nothing over the top, All in all, I was impressed with the cookies but the pizza was lacking in my opinion. I'm planning to come back in the future to give the pizza another try and to taste my way through their yummy baked goods.

TLDR: more like a 3.5 for baked goods but a 4 for the pizza! Nabolom Bakery is an unassuming Berkeley gem! I only tried this place right before COVID hit but it quickly became one of my go tos for a quick and always delicious meal. I have to say that their pastries didn't impress me too much. They were yummy but I think that I've had better croissants and dessert type items. However, their pizza is one of the best! They have the same style as sliver or cheeseboard where they only make one type of pizza a day and it's vegetarian! I prefer a thinner crust because I like toppings more than crust so this pizza definitely is right up my alley! Definitely come here if you're ever in the elmwood area! So good! Like the Cheeseboard but closer to where we live, and the line wasn't too bad just before noon. This was the day that the election results were announced so there was shouting, cheering, honking, bongo drums etc. We picked up a half pizza of the day's special, which was roasted fennel, bell pepper and feta with a tangy, crisp crust, as well as the pain au chocolat, with shatteringly crisp pastry and thick chunks of dark chocolate. We are saving the almond croissant for breakfast tomorrow and can't wait! You can call ahead to order a whole pie but the line moved fast for slices. There's a kid's pizza they offer, cheese only but they're made to order, takes 20 minutes.

My apologies for not updating my review since Julia E. took over Nabolom. What was once a dying operation has become ... WONDERFUL! I've been a regular visitor to Nabolom since the lockdowns began in mid-March. Driving across Berkeley to visit them is much easier than it was when people weren't working from home. Nabolom now has a consistent lineup of things that I like to buy: delicious pizzas (somewhat like those of the Cheese Board but now recognizably a separate species), excellent breads of all kinds, croissants to knock your socks off, savory twists to light up your day. Picking up from Nabolom involves standing in line, but there have never been more than three or four people ahead of me. You can reserve by phone if you're worried that the item you want will get sold out. (This is actually quite a rational concern.) I'm delighted that Julia took over this bakery and gave it a new life. I recommend Nabolom to all and consider that it merits a significant detour.

My biggest college regret is not taking a trip to Nabolom Bakery until my last month of school. If only I knew how amazing both the pastries and pizza are here... Nabolom Bakery puts Berkeley's multifarious other one-flavor-of-pizza-a-day establishments to shame (in my opinion!). The pizzas here have the most incredible flavor that are really a wow factor for me. They're juicy (from fresh vegetables), garlicky, and baked to perfection (thin crust with soft gooey cheese--but not to much). And the ingredients are so incredible. Gruyere cheese on pizza? Sensational. As for the pastries--wow again. Croissants here do not miss. Absolutely love the chocolate-almond croissants and the gruyere cheese twist. Wish they also sold baguettes but I'm not complaining. I also am a fan of the staff. They all have a very relaxed vibe that adds to the feel of the place, and it makes a visit to Nabolom feel like more of an experience. Managed to squeeze four visits to Nabolom in the past month, but wishing I'd instead spent my undergrad years enjoying the delectable pizza and baked goods from here with my friends. Alas, Nabolom gives me a compelling reason to visit Berkeley in the future.

Ok, I can't speak to the pizza and pastries at Nabolol but I will never be buying bread here again. I bought 2 loaves at $12.50 each which is pretty steep for a boule, but I figured I'd try it out and keep an open mind. The seeded sourdough boule has an extremely gummy crumb, which you can see by how my finger indentation doesn't raise back up much at all. Taste was ok, but not enough to make up for the awful texture. I also got a walnut and Olive rye loaf. I'm not a big fan of the flavor combo, but I'm basing this review purely off the terrible mixing on display. In the 3 slices shown you can see that *all* of the walnut + olive is in one corner. The whole loaf is like that... The mixing of ingredients appears basically non-existent. All in all I spent $25 on two crappy boules, YMMV.

I had my first visit two weeks ago and went back again today. The croissants are on the crunchy side, but are filled to the brim! The almond and chocolate almond croissants are our favorite. They are crispy and buttery. I tried the sour cream coffee cake, not my favorite but excited to try additional items and their pizza. I went around 9a on a Saturday and the line was short and sweet. The week before we went around 10 and it was much busier. I will be back!

TL;DR great bakery w/ great pizza I finally tried Nabolom and I'm so glad I did. I got a slice of pizza and it was so so good. It's not Cheeseboard, but it's pretty close. I didn't try their pastries or baked goods, but I am definitely going back to try them. They had a lot of classics and seasonal items! The staff were also really nice and speedy. There's seating inside and a few tables outside the bakery.

There aren't that many bakeries that have been around as long as Nabalom's. Why? Their breads and pastries are some of the best in the Bay Area. I've been coming here for 40 years and have searched far and wide; can't find better croissants.

So I ran into this bakery during my lunch break, desperately looking for a decent bite to eat and oh boy did they deliver. I am a sweet potato lady at heart but this pumpkin tart may have stolen it Nabolom Bakery have so many wonderful items to choose from. I can not wait to bring my daughter back here to try some of their other items. I highly recommend this bakery to everyone. Fresh pizza, fresh pastries how can you not love this place

I've passed by Nabolom many times but not gone in. Now that Berkeley's pizza options have dwindled, I decided to give them a try. A few weeks ago I had the mushroom, feta, pesto pizza and it was excellent. Perfect ratio of crust to ingredients, correct amount of cheese and tastes just right. And it stays warm long enough to enjoy at home, if you have that kind of patience. Then before Easter, I tried the hot cross bun bun. Now I love hot cross buns but this one was just ok. Bun tasted decent, almost enough currants, frosting good but needed more. Yes, I kind of let it sit but even after a few seconds in the microwave, not very juicy. Oh well. So you might ask why excellent pizza + just ok bun = 2 stars. Well that would be because of their $10 credit card minimum. Ridiculous to begin with but in these times, irrational, irresponsible and idiotic. Why make all the effort of standing 6 feet apart, shielding the cashier and bringing pizza out through the other door, when you prefer that I dig through my wallet for inevitably dirty, dirty, dirty bills and change that a cashier then has to handle and give me change, instead of a quick contactless credit card swipe. Plus they are rude about it. I traveled around the US at the start of March and didn't encounter a single establishment with a $10 credit card minimum or really any minimum. Make the world a better place and allow people to charge a slice of pizza (like Cheese Board and everyone else does). And that's when I will return to update my review.

This is your friendly neighborhood bakery, they have a lot of sweets, sodas and beers, but their specialty is pizzas in the cheese board format... One kind of pizza per day and that's all that is available. Slices or whole pies. But it is a great price, great crust, tasty and interesting toppings.

One of my favorite off-the-beaten-path stops for pizza and bread in the neighborhood. Nabolom bakes only one type of pizza a day, always with vegetarian toppings, and I have loved the fresh-out-of-the-oven, thin crust pizza slices ever since I first tried them. They also have other delicious baked goods that this is the place to stop by for any meal of the day. Food: - Today's Pizza--$3.50 The day I went, the slice of the day had roasted mushrooms, porcini pesto, red onion, goat cheese, mozzarella, garlic olive oil, and herbs. I loved how cheesy and satisfying the toppings were. The crust was thin but was still fluffy with a lightly crisp bottom, and the cheese was melted all the way to the edges of the crisp crust. Tips: - They serve hot pizza slices from 11:30 am to 2 pm, and from 4:30 pm to 7 pm. You can also buy half pies and whole pies, as well as light bakes which are half baked so you can finish baking the pizzas at home. - If you miss out on the pizza during the specific hours listed, don't worry because they have other baked goods available, as well as freshly baked focaccia from 2 pm until sold out.
