I really wanted to rate this place higher because of the potential and knowing that the owner is the only person cooking and running the place, and, after paying over $40+tip for what we experienced, I left feeling disappointed. Regardless, pluses overall are that the place is clean, pretty spacious, and comfortable inside. There was a water station, clean bathrooms, and free street parking across. The owner seems kind, just absolutely overwhelmed.
My husband and I walked in and saw someone waiting for take out. We waited about 10-15 minutes unsure what to do, until another couple came in, then the owner came out to take our orders. Besides appearing to be busy, she made many comments aloud about how busy she is, and needing to help make more dough or she’d have to close early..
Wait for our food wasn’t bad, about 15-20 more minutes. Our order was initially taken to the wrong table. Even still, I got served the wrong dish, then the owner comes back out and yells “wait don’t touch those nachos!” even though that was the correct half of our order..She fumbles around with the receipts and comments loudly how she doesn’t have her glasses, then I hear her talking to someone in the back, about again, needing help to make more dough because it was a busy day or she’d have to close.
The food tasted rushed—flavor lacked and the frybread was tough and not very warm. I had to remind the person helping that I’d ordered the sweet frybread as well. I was anxious about having clicked “no” for receipt since things were so unorganized. We weren’t checked on again.
The owner seems to have a heart for the business, and, because of all of the disorganization and overall experience, I wouldn’t return until quite a few changes are made. I left feeling like it might have helped to just not go in..maybe switching to take out only for now would lessen the burden? I’m sure running a small food business is really challenging these days, so I do hope things get better for the owner. I overheard her saying she got a grant from the city to renovate, I hope that can help with hiring and improving the experience in the future.
