My wife and I experienced Naga for the first time and LOVED it. Located in a super-upscale mall in Barra da Tijuca, this restaurant is really excellent.
First off, this is the freshest fish we've had in Rio in the last 20 years. For me, this is the single biggest factor in a sushi spot.
Also, the menu is ample - loads of hit and cool Japanese foods. We started with Hana Nira - garlic sprouts. Warm with lovely teriyaki-type sauce. Then, we had grilled octopus. It was really good...perhaps a bit chewy.
Our main course was a Combinagi platter of sushi, sashimi, and rolls. Five types of fish were on this combo platter. Everything was tasty and terrific. Little to no wasabi on the sushi so you might request more wasabi if you really want that heat.
For dessert, we had the creme brulee crepe with apples and ice cream. Amazing. The golden-buttery sauce was off the charts delicious.
