Ohayo Hommas, How often do you treat your siblings? As we get older there is a high probability that your siblings will move to a different city or country. I'm in Japan and my siblings are in a different area so as an adult I start to value the time we hang out. A few days ago, my sister was in town and I recalled she wanted to experience an sushi omakase. As her brother my job was simple, treat her to an omakase. I don't know when will be the next time I can gift a treat so I kind of went overboard and I took some damage (my bank). Nagatacho Sushi Kanesaka is a quiet counter where everything moves with intention. The room feels calm the moment you sit down. Each piece arrives at the right temperature, placed in front of you without rush. The rice is softly seasoned and warm, the neta clean and precise, and the balance holds from start to finish. Nothing tries to impress you on the surface. The experience builds through rhythm, focus, and consistency, leaving you satisfied without feeling heavy. My wife and I had dinner here while on our honeymoon and to celebrate her birthday. The Chef is a master of his profession; it shows in every dish with both the flavour and presentation. Seeing the team work together is great and due to the intimate environment you get to see the skillful knife work close up. As we were celebrating we had a twist on desert with a fun presentation. This was our best meal in Japan.

I recently indulged in a lunch Omakase course that was truly exceptional. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, enhanced by elegant interior design. The ginger was perfectly sliced, serving as a refreshing palate cleanser between courses. I particularly savored the sanma, toro, and Japanese amberjack sushi—each bite was a delightful explosion of umami. Although I typically don’t favor sardines and sweet shrimp on sushi, the chef prepared and seasoned them to perfection, making me genuinely appreciate both. The rice was sublime; I’m still amazed at how the chef achieves such perfection. It was fragrant, with just the right balance of acidity, saltiness, and texture. Additionally, you have the option to request any sushi you desire. I couldn’t resist ordering an extra hokkigai to cap off my meal, and it was the perfect finishing touch.

The rice is sublime. Not sure how the chef does it. But the rice is tart, fragrant, with an aftertaste, with just the right texture. The ingredients are so fresh. And paired with Wadachi beer….. the experience is unparalleled!! The owner chef is also modest and skillful. What an experience.

Some of the most amazing sushi we've ever had! Changed our mind about how good uni can be, and the service was impeccable. They were unbelievably accommodating to our request for a gluten free experience, which eliminated all of our stress. If we're ever fortunate enough to visit Japan again in the future, we'll for sure be stopping here first thing!

Extremely value for money lunch omakase. 15 pieces with the option to add more at the end. Sushi is on the smaller side but every piece was well executed. Definitely a return sushiya. The Anago was one of the best I’ve ever had. Chef and staff speak decent English.

Omakase course is great, specially the smoked bonito, the mackerel and yellowtail dishes. Osumi is an amazing chef, quite funny and speaks decent english. Definitely overpriced but I guess that is standard for eating decent Omakase in Tokyo as a tourist. Amount of food is good at around 14 small dishes, however it is quite fast so expect to be done in less than 90 minutes. Forget about the price and try to enjoy. Several options for sake.

What an experience! This was the best Omakase experience I had, not in Tokyo, but in the entire world. The attention to detail was unbelievable. The quality of the rice and fish was like nothing I have sen before even across Michelin starred restaurants and the selection of sake very impressive and well priced. This is a gem!
