Nagomi - Review - Cheltenham - Cotswolds - The Infatuation

"The Regency townhouse in which this Japanese-Korean restaurant is housed is sensible and serious—Nagomi isn’t. Tabletop BBQ grills and big comfy booths cry out for groups, and a collection of Dragon Ball Z figurines stands sentry on counters. Elsewhere a Studio Ghibli No-Face poster looks on as the friendly owner initiates first-timers with three rules: “share, slurp, and burp”. We broke the first rule within 20 minutes after declaring a stacked tray of excellent Seoul fried chicken to be a “personal portion”. The food is tasty, but while the slap and sizzle of wagyu hangar steaks hitting hot plates is like a siren call at this laid-back spot, don’t neglect the small plates like the okonomiyaki roll and that moreish fried chicken. They’re some of our favourite things here. photo credit: Sinéad Cranna Food Rundown Seoul Fried Chicken (Honey Garlic) This chicken is glistening. The honey garlic is the perfect sweet, slightly bitter, moreish glaze. But it’s all about the crunch. It didn’t quite reverberate through space and time. But also, it basically does. photo credit: Sinéad Cranna Okonomiyaki Roll This is a rolled take on a typical okonomiyaki. But the benefit is it’s easier to portion and absolutely filled to the brim with sweet chewy sausage and crunchy cabbage. photo credit: Sinéad Cranna Kimchi Jjigae Unfortunately the stew is a bit bland, as are the slightly tough pieces of pork. photo credit: Sinéad Cranna Topokki The thick sauce, deep and umami, is in a co-dependent relationship with the chewy rice cakes—clinging to one another, never to be parted. It’s very comforting and there’s a nice balance of spiciness and sweetness. photo credit: Sinéad Cranna Pumpkin Korokke Sweet, fluffy, crunchy, deep-fried vegetables are always going to be pretty good. This won’t blow you away, but it’s not objectionable. photo credit: Sinéad Cranna" - Sinéad Cranna

I had the absolute pleasure to attend K Night (five course Korean set menu) at Nagomi, it was such a wonderful evening, and was worth every penny. The food was outstanding, the service was impeccable, and the vibes were immaculate. I felt so taken care of and welcomed by the fantastic team from the moment we arrived, and we left with full bellies and hearts. I will definitely be back for another one. There is so much love and soul in this restaurant, a true Cheltenham gem that is well worth a visit or ten!

Incredible Korean and Japanese food. I can usually be a bit picky with meat, but the food here was incredible. Both the meat grill and the noodle dishes were delicious. Not to mention the great selection of Japanese/korean alocoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Our servers were fantastic and very attentive, and gave a good demonstration of how to cook the food. A fantastic way to celebrate a birthday! We will definitely be returning soon

We visited today, I was impressed with the aesthetics Nagomi has captured and awaken the child in me, from San Gokou to Ghibli. Abbi our server is so friendly and attentive she really made it a nice experience. The food is lush, we ordered yakisoba and takoyaki, iced matcha latte and Dorayaki - suprisingly the dorayaki has a matcha ice cream.on top! So good , I bet doraemon was jealous 🤫, the price is affordable and I will definitely come back!

First time going today and it definitely won't be the last. Absolutely lush food and amazing drinks. So many choices and options! Such a fun and interesting experience. Staff were absolutely perfect and explained everything to us really well. We made a mess as we ate everything and they said it was such a compliment to their food. We ate Platter A on the menu! We also had the corn dogs and honey and garlic fried chicken. Couldn't fault any of it. So yummy! So well prepared! We will definitely be back. Couldn't recommend it enough and definitely recommend booking as it does get busy, rightly so!

My husband and I went for a lunch date after looking for a place to fix our Korean bbq craze and seeing the reviews and it definitely not disappoint. The Korean bbq meat were fresh and perfectly marinated, I love we were able to grill it directly on the grilling pan which give the bbq the flavour you find in South Korea, I love that they include lettuce, garlic and chillies, as part of the platter as you don’t always get that in other bbq restaurant. The Korean Fried Chicken yang nyeom style were so yummy, where it was coated by a generous amount of sauce, still have the crunch of fried chicken, and you also get a great portion. My husband never tried a corn dog and he loved it, love the ketchup type sauce and the Japanese mayo they drizzled on the top. The customer service was professional, friendly and they were really on it, especially it was quite a busy Saturday lunch. All in all, it’s 10/10 from me. Looking forward to visiting again in the future.

Had a great time here. The Japanese BBQ was super fun and delicious. We ordered the bulgogi and hana kalbi. We also got the kimchi pajeon. Left very full. Service was friendly and fast.

We were treated to a lovely meal. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a lively atmosphere. The staff are attentive and good at demonstrating the table BBQ, if you have it. I treated myself to a Soju Bomb cocktail, which was amazing. We had a selection of dishes, and the BBQ was especially delicious. I will also add that we had a lovely dessert too, but we'd polished it off before I could take a photo. We'll definitely be back again. Thanks Portia!
