Yelp
No frills joint, easy to miss if you don't pay attention, they have no sign on the building, other than "Food" and "Open" sign in the front and as you pull up to the parking lot, you'll see "Sushi" and "Nagomi". I've driven by this street for many years while working in Plymouth and never knew this place exists until recently.
Everything here is self-serve. When you walk in, turn to your left and go to the menu board, review and once you have decided what you want, pick up the piece of paper for the items you want, walk up to the cashier, give them the slip(s), pay and wait until your order is called over the PA system. Get your own water, utensils, etc. Looks like they expanded to the former grocery store, giving more seating area.
Having been on noodle tour for the past few weeks, I went with Tonkatsu Ramen with extra pork and two sushi rolls (Spicy Tuna and Spicy Salmon). The total came out to like $22 or so.
It was Sunday around 3pm, the place wasn't busy, around 4 tables were occupied. The Ramen came out first and fast, didn't take more than 5 minutes, then after few minutes got my rolls.
- Spicy Tuna and Spicy Salmon: It's basically Tuna and Salmon rolls topped with spicy mayo, which wasn't spicy at all. If you want to add some kick to it, add some of the hot sauce that's available by the cashier. The rolls were you standard rolls you find in many of the Japanese restaurants in Michigan.
- Tonkatsu Ramen, probably the best Tonkatsu ramen I had thus far in Michigan. The broth was very rich and had that deep rich taste. I had two issues with this ramen though... 1) the egg was hard boiled and not your traditional soft boiled egg and 2) not enough broth, not sure if you can order extra or not (will have to check next time I go back). They also do not use pork belly, rather pork loin.
Overall, Ramen was excellent and would go back just to eat Tonkatsu Ramen (if I could, I would order just the broth)... but will try other foods they have... the food came out fast, but I'm sure it takes some time when they are busy... service? Well, it's self service, you grab your own water, you go up to the counter to pick up your food, etc., so service really doesn't exist... the cashier was friendly and nice, had no issues ordering, paying or picking up my food.
When you are done eating, make sure to clean up after yourself... gotta take all your empty bowls, utensils, tray, etc and place them in the bin before you leave.
