"A trademark of this Novi noodle spot is its low-tech ordering system entailing photos and corresponding pieces of paper, but people keep making the ramen pilgrimage for the flavorful bowls of nagoya spicy ramen, tan tan, and katsu curry. In recent months, though, the restaurant has embraced some modern ordering methods including delivery orders through Uber Eats." - Eater Staff, Dorothy Hernandez

Google
One of my favourite and go-to Japanese restaurants in Michigan. Definitely a hole in the wall type of place- don’t expect much interior decor or anything fancy. Affordable pricing with delicious food options. Menu is versatile in that there are a lot to choose from. You order by indicating what you want on a piece of paper. Service is also pretty fast and we try to go during non peak hours because it does fill up pretty fast. If you haven’t been here, definitely put this on your list!

Google
My Review and Ordering Instructions below. Super delicious authentic food, everything was top notch flavor. First time here, was super weird at first but very simple once you figure out how everything works. If this place had a better atmosphere you would need to make reservations weeks ahead because of how good the food is. The hole in the wall atmosphere keeps this place from overcrowding for sure. Instructions for newcomers: 1. Let yourself into the door to the right of the Indian restaurant. 2.Walk in 15ft, then go right, to the table with pictures. 3.Select a card for each dish you want. 4.Circle for here or to go and write in quantity and any extras. 5.Proceed to the beverages, grab a cup for water or a bottled drink. 6.Go to the pay booth straight ahead, give the cashier your slips and pay, they will give you a number. 7.Listen carefully for your number to be called while you sit and wait at a table. 8.When your number is called go get your food next to where you paid and sit back at your table. 9.When you finish your meal pick it up and take it to the dirty dishes area next to where you picked up your food.

Google
I might give the food a five star on my second visit. The food was good except I bit into a carrot in my ramen and it was cold inside. This is definitely not a classy a place, but I don't think anyone seems bothered by it. It is a popular spot and visited by many people of the same ethnicity as the food.

Google
Don’t let the run down appearance fool you; this place serves very authentic Japanese cuisine. The ordering system is a bit strange(for Americans)but it works. The menu is large and the food is delicious. Service is pretty good too!

Google
Cafeteria style restaurant, and great food! This was a cool experience and I’m glad I got to try something new. They have plenty on their menu and great options. Everything was absolutely phenomenal!

Google
We came here for the food. Ramen is actually rly good authentic and man the Onigiri were soooo fresh delicious! Food was very good! Very dif way to order, you grab a small paper with the name of the plate u want and you take it to the cashier to pay. Place looks like old like on renovation?! But worth the flavor. Yummy!

Google
Best food Ever! I'd drive from Ohio, my hometown, to dine here. The green beans were the best I have EVER tasted. So good that I never want to have them if they aren't prepared here. Many vegetarian/vegan options. I WILL BE BACK!!!

Google
This place would appear nothing more than a hole in the wall place. That all changes over you get your food. This w hands down the best ramen I ever had. It was flavorful and packed full of food. The fried rice was super disappoint Edit : got the Jan Jan ramen and it was delicious. Could have been a tad more spicy but I'm a spice head so sometimes I crave more heat then what's good for me. The ground pork., bean sprouts and the broth were cooked nice Edit again Got some chicken dish with rice and cabbage. It came with a small side soup and salad. The chicken was cooked nicely and came with a nice sauce on top. The rice and cabbage was also well seasoned

Mckenna B.

Yelp
Been meaning to try this place for a while and glad we finally did! Love the casual nature- selecting from photos on the wall and ordering at the counter. Got the vegetarian ramen and kimchi. First time trying kimchi and really enjoyed! The vegetarian ramen was not my favorite- definitely seems like they specialize in the other ramen dishes. I was a little thrown off with the frozen green beans, but the broth was flavorful! Will have to come back and try more sides/udon/curry rice.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for ages! just to echo all these other reviews, this place really is for the food over anything. this has been my favorite shoyu ramen I've tried, and the steamed bun was delicious. I will definitely be back to try the assortment of foods they have!!

Michelle W.

Yelp
No-frills food court style restaurant! Located in an abandoned looking building, inside you'll find a wall of different meal options. You pick up a slip next to the meal you want and can customize it. Pay at the counter and they'll call your number when it's ready. I've only tried their ramens and they're really good, large portioned, and fairly priced. My boyfriend has tried a lot of the other dishes, like the donburi, and said they're all delicious. Quick and yummy food!

Maya C.

Yelp
It's been a little while since my last visit here and I am so happy I returned! The food was very good! I always enjoy the Nagoya ramen, deep favors with a bit of spice. It's such a pleasant experience! The Shoyu ramen doesn't miss. Again, the depth of flavor is just right along with the toppings. On this day, I wanted to check out some appetizers as well. The breast of chicken katsu was spot on! It was crispy and tender and mild. All the apps were prepared well and we enjoyed the Agedashi tofu, the potato croquette and chicken gyoza ! All were nicely done with a nice presentation. I enjoy the ordering process as it is unique. The large space allows for a lot of seating and the atmosphere is rustic and casual. No pretense, just good food!

Lisa S.

Yelp
I don't know if I have much to add to previous reviews. Food is straightforward, served hot, and we enjoyed everything. The cafeteria-style and little paper selections was a nice change - it made ordering fun and easy. I like that you can specify number of items and that there is a "here or to-go" option. The dining room is huge and had game shows playing on the TV, achieving high tier vibes. Would absolutely be back. I loved everything we ordered. The highlights for me personally were agedashi tofu and chicken katsu, DELISH!

Cristin G.

Yelp
I've given this place a try several times now over the years and I'm sorry to say that it has disappointed me every single time. The concept is cool, Japanese cafeteria style. You look at the menu board when you walk in and select what you'd like off the walls. Each picture has a a description and corresponding paper slip where you choose dine in or takeout. To order you must hand the slip to the cashier and pay to complete your order. Cold and hot water are free of charge, hot tea costs $.75 a bag. Once you've ordered you can sit and one of many tables and booths available and wait until your number is called. The tables and booths are all outdated and ripping, many of the seats are being held together with tape. The walls next to the booth we were sitting in were absolutely filthy, with dust and food splatters. The worst part was yet to come this visit though, as I was eating my rice I saw something brown, lo and behold there were moths is my rice. I also found one in my salad, which was unfortunate since the dressing was pretty good. Nagomi has run out of chances in my book, this place is filthy and I won't waste my money here again.

Yelp
Thursday 7pm, on 1/11/2024. Unlike the lunch hours, it was very quiet and slow for dinner hours. Maybe because there is no alcohol served, it does not get busy during the dinner hours? Anyway, easy ordering process, go up to the cashier and place order. However, they do ask for tips even though this is a walk up and pick up just like a food court at a mall. I got Katsu Curry Udon. It was yummy as if I was getting this in Japan. Katsu was delicious, just had to save it from getting too much soaked in curry as I prefer it crispy than mushy. Very chewy udon noodles and the curry soup was not just adding curry to udon soup, but appropriately cooked as Curry Udon soup. Delicious!

Michael T.

Yelp
I've been coming here for a while now, first time reviewing. You select what you want based on pictures on the wall, pick up a slip of paper, and pay with that. It is a large dining area, cafeteria like. Food comes fast. Cooked fresh. Lots of noodle and rice options. About 15$ per dish. Large portions. Quality is average. Definitely not fancy but leaves you feeling full for sure. If you're looking for quick bite of authentic Japanese food, try this place.

Jennifer W.

Yelp
I've been anticipating eating here and finally made it. But first I got lost because that can't be the restaurant over there, right? Yes, that's it over there. Upon entering, I was surprised that you write down your items to place your order. That's fine once I got the hang of what I was supposed to do. The inside leaves a lot to be desired so I would not dine in but opted for a takeout order. I had the chicken katsu and the chicken karaage. These were safe choices and did not disappoint. I would return for another takeout order of these two items, but I may branch out and try other things.

Laura P.

Yelp
Can't believe 8 years after I first came here on a random visit to the area....I now live in the area and visit on a semi regular basis. Still cafeteria style, quite possibly my favorite food in the entire area. Sometimes I get a bunch of stuff to go and eat it over a few days, but there's nothing quite like eating here. Current favorite is a Ginger Pork dish (which might be a special), you can't go wrong with getting a side of sesame balls, and the miso the meals come with always hits just right.

Edward S.

Yelp
The food is amazing and affordable. Classic Japanese dishes with friendly service. A must try for those looking for something new.

Jenni S.

Yelp
Order by picking the slip from the photo on the right side of the aisle as you make your way to the counter. Lots to pick from. I also got the fried squid (not pictured). Sooooo delicious. Can't wait to bring my kids the next time.

Aliya S.

Yelp
Very authentic Japanese food. I don't know why Google showed that there was sushi at this restaurant, but there wasn't any. It is literally a hidden gem because there are no signs outside of the building, but it's right next to the Indian restaurant that Google Maps leads you to. It was cafeteria style where you write down you food, pay, and then grab your food once they call your order number. You clean up your own table too afterwards. Overall though my friends and I enjoyed the food for what it was. The portions were good for their prices too.

Zhipeng Y.

Yelp
Noodle are so so. But owner is very welcomed. He always offers snacks for free. I like the karame chicken.

Wai H.

Yelp
This place is truly a hole in the wall. The outside doesn't have a sign or any decorations to easily find it. It is next to an Indian restaurant so that is my usual marker when looking for it. The inside is also no frills as it it cafeteria style and you pick what you want to order from a wall that has all the menu items pictured with order sheets. Everything is delicious and large portions too. Great prices for authentic Japanese food!

Christy C.

Yelp
This has been a go-to for me for years when I want hot, yummy noodles. It is a no-nonsense, bare-bones kind of place where food is the definite focus. Pretty much zero atmosphere but it doesn't matter when the food is great. I've eaten enough in Japan to say the ramen is authentic. The clientele also gives away how authentic it really is.

Rebecca D.

Yelp
The food here was good. The ambiance, sketchy at best. It's a huge cavernous space that looks like a mishmash of 2nd hand booths and tables and chair. You order by picking up a card(s) with the menu item on it and giving it to the cashier. Cafeteria style almost. We brought our friend from Japan with us. She said the food was pretty good. But absolutely not impressed with the environment.

Sydney M.

Yelp
Great spot to stop in and eat, no frills but you will leave very full for a good price. Excited to try all the different types of ramen on return trips, only got to try one.

Ed C.

Yelp
One of my go to places for lunch! Keep your expectations low on the atmosphere, although it does have a special charm. Food is awesome, definitely a hidden treasure!

Cristopher B.

Yelp
What Nagomi lacks in things like unified decor, advertising, or like, a sign, (look for the window with the faintly written "FOOD" above the door, that's your clue) they make up with astonishing quality and also quantity. Trust me, you're getting your money's worth. Walking in the door, the place does look a little sketchy, it's definitely one of those joints which the owners have cobbled together over time into something that works for them. But between the look and the lack of signage, less adventurous eaters may be put off. However, don't let that stop you from having a fantastic meal! It's a very traditional style of Japanese restaurant, in which you make your menu selection from a board of menu items along your way in via picking little tickets, and then you hand the tickets to the cashier. They'll cash you out and call you when your food is ready. There's no waitstaff, and no service staff to bus your table, you're clearing your own dishes. I submit that one may run into a bit of choice paralysis the first time in, or just if you're hungry and have a taste for different things, because Nagomi offers a huge variety of offerings, from various types of ramen, to curries, and more. Between my group, we had one type of curry, two types of ramen, croquettes and gyoza, and it was all fantastic. Serving size was way bigger than any of us expected as well, don't let your eyes be bigger than your stomach. The Novi area has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to asian cuisine. More than most of Metro Detroit, Novi seems to be where it's at right now, if that's what you're looking for. With that in mind, Nagomi seems like one of the top choices. Absolutely check it out.

Nicole E.

Yelp
Nagomi sushi and ramen shop. You grab little sheets for items you want, add the quantity and if it's for here or to go. We ordered a kimchi ramen, fried rice, 2 potato croquettes, 2 kimchi, 2 green salads, 5 piece chicken gyoza, tuna rice ball, 2 tuna Onigiri, water, 2 red bean Taiyaki fish and rice flour dessert. $62.22. Soup is the only item worth trying here at all. The staff are rude and tactless if you are not satisfied with your meal. Paid at one counter. Pick up your order based on your receipt number at the food counter. The rice ball with the tuna is lame, hardly any tuna in it, it's mostly bad rice in it. It's falling apart, not so sticky rice to it. The fried rice is bad, a few slivers of egg in it, it has no flavor either. The kimchi is okay. The green salad is not good, dressing tastes like tahini sauce. Rotten iceberg lettuce all throughout it. Super bland. The kimchi soup was super packed with kimchi, onions, bean sprouts and quite a bit of pork meat. The broth is good as well. The soup was the only notable thing here for us. We ordered quite a bit too. The cashier missed adding my sesame ball order, it was one of the sheets in the pile. The taiyaki red bean is okay, the fish is soggy and mushy. Not sure if that's what they nuked in the microwave while we waited on our food. The chicken gyoza was not so good. The tuna Mayo onigiri has a bit of tuna Mayo in it on both sides. I took back the chicken onigiri. The lady argued with me that there's chicken in it. I said there's none on half of the roll. The cook came and said I only get 3 pieces in the onigiri total. I asked him to make or so there's some on each. This arrogant chef gouged out a piece from one side and shoved it onto the side with lettuce and Mayo and only in it. I couldn't believe the chef, how tactless. The lady said she wouldn't give me a refund since there was nothing wrong with the roll at all. I asked them to remake it or refund it. The cashier lady took $4.50 and tossed it on the tray for me. Where's the tax for my rice with No chicken in it. The sour and bad attitude here turned me off from trying to get the tax portion back. I felt like they were quite cheap and rather scrooges to their food items except for their kimchi soup. Also keep in mind they do reheat some of the food items in the microwave here as well. Stick to the soups here, everything is sure to disappoint. Keep your interactions to the staff here to a bare minimum. Customer service here is non-existent here.

Ally S.

Yelp
This was our first time going here. I agree with the other reviews, it is truly a hole in the wall. Once you walk in, you grab which items you'd like from the wall and give them to the friendly cashier. Then you wait for your order number to be called. No waiter to bug you and you are able to truly take your time as you enjoy the delicious food. Speaking of food, wow...what a delightful dinner we had. Great portions and wonderful flavors! Everything came out super hot and fresh. The winner for me was the Tonkatsu Ramen. My boyfriend said the Pop Shrimp was great. Overall, looks can be deceiving. The restaurant itself isn't fancy by any means, but the atmosphere is comfy and casual. There were some TVs playing Japanese game shows that were entertaining. You definitely could bring headphones and enjoy your own shows if you wanted to. This is definitely one of those restaurants you could go eat alone and not feel weird at all. Once you're done you place your dishes in the bins up front. Again, nothing fancy but if you're not picky then you'll come to appreciate the food. In short, definitely give this place a try and take the time to enjoy the authentic food. We are definitely coming back here again with friends.

Julius M.

Yelp
A great place for authentic Japanese food! You get to choose from pictures on their wall. An absolutely fantastic field of choice! Don't be put off by the ambience. Just enjoy the food!

Tyler W.

Yelp
Best ramen ever. Been here a few times now and it doesn't disappoint! You pick from their wall. Authentic Japanese restaurant I highly recommend. I got spicy miso ramen

Ser L.

Yelp
Authentic, delicious food. Decent prices, unpretentious service. We have not eaten anything here that we were not impressed with.

Ariana S.

Yelp
This place is so unexplainably delightful. It doesn't look like much when you walk in just a big open space. When you go to order they have photos and descriptions of everything with prices and slips of paper to write what you want. It's so helpful and easy to follow for everyone. They have a ton of great options on their menu so it's nice to see them all in front of you. You can quickly scan the wall and see what you want. Once you order you can sit anywhere in the place, there are lots of booths and large tables for groups. They have a pickup window where the food comes out and they call out your number. It's such a seemless process with literally no room for confusion. It also makes it super easy if you are getting food to go. I love the ramen here and the ambience. It's not fancy or super clean by any means but it's hard not to feel like you are home when you are here. Will definitely be back!

Adam K.

Yelp
I love Ramen. Ive eaten a lot of Ramen around the state and other states, I travel a lot. This is one of the top five Ramen places to eat in Michigan and number one for varieties. Highly recommend going for experience of ordering. And the friendly staff.

Yuko F.

Yelp
Friendly Japanese restaurant No waitress So you will pick up food and return plates when you finish. No tipping required. I have not been here since 2020. But they are still open. I wanted to eat ramen so we went. I had champion and my buddy had pork belly ramen. Both good noodles. Clean. Delicious. It is not stylish place but rather down to earth kind of place. Menu is on the wall and you pick a ticket by looking at the photos of the dishes. Price is reasonable. Remember there is no waitresses or waiters. But other than that, good place to give it a try.

David F.

Yelp
One of the best places for food in Novi. The Tantanmen is incredible. Highly recommend.

Madison D.

Yelp
It's so easy to order with the system they have. I always love getting the katsu curry and the croquettes they have. Staff are also polite.

Ashley T.

Yelp
This place is always good, I've been here 5 separate times this year and have not been disappointed. (I've always done carry out) food is out within 10 minutes usually, I love the idea of just writing down what I want and handing them the sheet of paper. I give this place 3 stars because I do not think I'd eat inside, it's a little dingy and seems like they don't clean it well in the dining area. Also all the seating is pretty close to eachother, The food is delicious. If you are in Novi and looking for something warm and inviting, look no further. The broth is flavorful and creamy, the noodles are cooked perfectly, and the appetizers (plenty to choose from) so far from my experience have all been good. My go to ramen has been the kimchi ramen, and I also get takoyaki (I'm addicted) My husband always goes for the shoyu ramen. He loves it. I'd say 3.5 but there's no half stars, don't want to give it a 4 because only the best of the best get 4s and while the food here is great, the cleanliness & awkward building layout is their only downfall.

Ron W.

Yelp
In the northwest Detroit community of Novi, there is a restaurant that serves truly amazing and authentic Japanese cuisine. If you like real tasting food from the "Land of the Rising Sun," that isn't "Americanized" then you will love the fine selection of offerings at Nagomi. Your taste-buds will think you're in Tokyo, but without spending the money for airfare to go there. Nagomi Japanese Restaurant is rather different than most other establishments offering Izakaya or Kaiseki style dining. This what I would call a fast-casual type of eating establishment. At this place you look at photographs on the wall and write down which type of ramen or donburi you desire on a piece of paper. Then you take this slip to the cashier, and they will eventually call your number. You have to go and obtain the food and bring it back to your table. This type of service is very commonplace in Japan. I was invited by two friends who are from the Tokyo area, but work in Novi to enjoy the food at this restaurant. These two both know their Japanese cuisine very well. One of them suggested that I try the "Fried Octopus" and it was so delicious. If you like Katsudon, you will love this truly delicious entree with octopus. The Tanindon they serve is truly delicious, and I chose it over regular Gyudon. If you're looking for authentic tasting Japanese food, this is by far one of the best in the entire Detroit Metro area.

Suzan C.

Yelp
Recently had takeout there. Food maybe even better than we remembered. Still have the cool ordering system of tiny slips of paper. We need to go more often.

Cloud L.

Yelp
very authentic and a homey setting and aura to it. best gyoza I've ever had, but all items on the menu were very good. nice and fast service along with a unique way to order!

Shanna C.

Yelp
Mapo tofu is my favorite dish. I could eat this all day everyday, and I am so happy to say Nagomi does a really delicious mapo tofu. Every time I come back to MI, I always request to go to Nagomi to pick up an order of the mapo tofu. It is the perfect comfort food and is packed with flavor. Their other offerings are also incredibly delicious. They have ramen, rice dishes, appetizers. You order by looking at the menu on a board and pick up a small piece of paper corresponding to what you are ordering. Then you bring it up to the cashier. The food here is phenomenal and reminds me of home/what mom makes. Aside from the mapo tofu, I really like their tan tan men and karage. The broth of the tan tan men is delectable with a good amount of spice. The karage is perfectly cooked to crispy outside and juicy insides.

Vic A.

Yelp
Must visit this restaurant any time we are in town! The Tonkatsu Ramen is best of the best in my book. So creamy and the noodles are perfectly done. I already can't wait til our next visit! True authentic Japanese food. The menu can be overwhelming but it's fun to try to keep up pace with the locals, just appear to know what you're doing. It's easy to figure out. Hardest decision you'll have to make is wether to try something new or stick with the tried and true. Happy eating!

A A.

Yelp
This restaurant is not very close to me but well worth a 30+ minute drive. I can't vouch for the authenticity of the ordering system, however the food is truly outstanding. It's really here to go wrong with their offerings (or at least I haven't picked wrong yet). Everyone is kind and efficient and the location/interior is really charming, like a secret place that you only know about.

Lance D.

Yelp
Amazing ramen, it is for sure confusing and kinda questionable by the outside appearance, don't let it fool you!

Jenny H.

Yelp
My husband and I tried this restaurant out for the first time and we did not leave disappointed! The restaurant itself is very confusing.. it says "basic Asian mart", but disregard it. The Japanese news was playing on the tv- so that is always a good sign to indicate authenticity of the restaurant. You'll walk in and see their menu on display, you pick out what you want on paper and then hand it to the cashier. Then you sit and wait for your number to be called. From there on out, it's self served and you put your tray away.. pretty convenient to do. I ordered the Tonkotsu ramen and the broth tasted so creamy and delicious! My husband ordered the Shio ramen and also loved it. For appetizer we had tako kaarage (octopus). We will definitely be coming back. I already know my next order-- katsu curry and takoyaki!

Jaime R.

Yelp
We got the tonkatsu ramen with a side of pork belly, gyu don, fried mackerel, and a tuna onigiri. The gyu don and the tonkatsu were INCREDIBLE. I highly recommend getting the pork belly and putting it into the tonkatsu as the pork that is comes with is not like typical chashu. The pork belly is tender, fatty and so flavorful it works perfectly with the smooth and porky ramen broth. The gyu don is gingery and delicious and the mackerel was fried perfectly. One of the best meals we've had in a longggg time.

Luna E.

Yelp
Real Japanese food. I had Shoyu ramen, my husband had Jan Jan ramen, and our daughter had kids' dish. My husband loved the ramen! Everything was good. There're many Japanese restaurants in Ann Arbor and Novi. But, there're not many offering real Japanese food. This restaurant is real.

Kenrick D.

Yelp
The Ramen here is pretty good. My favorite Ramen would have to be the Tonkatsu. The flavor of the broth is well balanced, not too salty, but not too watery either. I do prefer my broth to have a bolder pork taste though. The true highlight of this restaurant is their Chicken Katsu Curry. The sauce is nicely seasoned, and has the pleasant aroma Japanese Curry is supposed to have. The sauce pairs really great with the crunch of the Chicken Katsu .

Mercedes V.

Yelp
Haven't eaten lunch and it's around 230pm, a Saturday. I accidentally found this Ramen place thru Yelp. Truly intrigued by their menu of pictures and it's description. We Entered the door from Basic Asian Mart. Walked through the dining room to our left. We then saw the menu picture board. With so many selections, it took us some time to look around and decide what to eat. Finally got a pencil, picked up the paper check list and marked our chosen ramen and curry rice meal. If we want extra soup, noodles or rice...just put a check on the paper and Show it to the cashier. We paid and she gave us a number. We waited for a few minutes and our food was ready. Stood up when I heard the number and picked up the meals. Ordered the tonkotsu ramen and beef curry rice meal. The yellow noodles was very good, so is the broth. The beef curry needed some seasoning, instead I ate it together with the red relish that comes with it. Liked the miso soup with just enough saltiness and soft tofu. Not sure if the basis of a great restaurant is an empty bowl and plate, meal for two cost about $ $20++ I almost gave them 5 stars, but the shumai looks like store made. Green tea was free. The dining area looks bare but wide. No fancy decor. Straight to the point eat a good meal and call it a day. Will definitely be back to try their spicy version of ramen.

Maryann P.

Yelp
Very nice place to try! Workers are so friendly! Very spacious! I like how we can order things. Really reminds me of Japan! I love their homemade sauce they had on the side.

Breanne C.

Yelp
I don't know why I gave it 4 stars, because the food is most definitely 5 stars. The pork belly ramen is one of the tastiest ramens I have ever had, and I lived in Japan for 3 years!

Kevin J.

Yelp
Amazingness I have found my Ramen lunch place!!! Great selection so many different ramen. I hope I have enough time to try everything in the future!!

Jason C.

Yelp
No frills joint, easy to miss if you don't pay attention, they have no sign on the building, other than "Food" and "Open" sign in the front and as you pull up to the parking lot, you'll see "Sushi" and "Nagomi". I've driven by this street for many years while working in Plymouth and never knew this place exists until recently. Everything here is self-serve. When you walk in, turn to your left and go to the menu board, review and once you have decided what you want, pick up the piece of paper for the items you want, walk up to the cashier, give them the slip(s), pay and wait until your order is called over the PA system. Get your own water, utensils, etc. Looks like they expanded to the former grocery store, giving more seating area. Having been on noodle tour for the past few weeks, I went with Tonkatsu Ramen with extra pork and two sushi rolls (Spicy Tuna and Spicy Salmon). The total came out to like $22 or so. It was Sunday around 3pm, the place wasn't busy, around 4 tables were occupied. The Ramen came out first and fast, didn't take more than 5 minutes, then after few minutes got my rolls. - Spicy Tuna and Spicy Salmon: It's basically Tuna and Salmon rolls topped with spicy mayo, which wasn't spicy at all. If you want to add some kick to it, add some of the hot sauce that's available by the cashier. The rolls were you standard rolls you find in many of the Japanese restaurants in Michigan. - Tonkatsu Ramen, probably the best Tonkatsu ramen I had thus far in Michigan. The broth was very rich and had that deep rich taste. I had two issues with this ramen though... 1) the egg was hard boiled and not your traditional soft boiled egg and 2) not enough broth, not sure if you can order extra or not (will have to check next time I go back). They also do not use pork belly, rather pork loin. Overall, Ramen was excellent and would go back just to eat Tonkatsu Ramen (if I could, I would order just the broth)... but will try other foods they have... the food came out fast, but I'm sure it takes some time when they are busy... service? Well, it's self service, you grab your own water, you go up to the counter to pick up your food, etc., so service really doesn't exist... the cashier was friendly and nice, had no issues ordering, paying or picking up my food. When you are done eating, make sure to clean up after yourself... gotta take all your empty bowls, utensils, tray, etc and place them in the bin before you leave.

Yelp
Always a treat to eat here. Not too busy but steady this Sunday afternoon. Food was amazing as always. I actually remembered to take pictures before digging in. Can't wait to come back soon!

Yelp
Nagomi is a little hidden gem, that offers cafeteria styling dining restaurant that just makes me happy. You walk up to a board of anything your heart desires. Ramen, sushi, udon, curry.... it's awesome! Write down what you want, then hand it off to the staff who will call out your number from the window. Make sure you're paying attention to what your number is! Next to where you pick up your food, there's a ton of seasonings, oils, spoons, napkins, spices to doll up your fancy ramen. Big fan of their spicy sesame oil. I think this is definitely a great gem in Novi. I wish I would have known about it sooner. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Outside, you wouldn't be able to tell this is a restaurant, much less open. But a classic, wonderful experience awaits inside. Walk in and see the vast wall filled with names of dishes, photos, and small slips of paper that you use to order. The food is always amazing and Im pretty sure the restaurant is family owned. If you have been looking for a good ramen/udon place, look no further than Nagomi!
