I would have posted a review earlier but I was too busy kicking myself because this was my first time here. I have known about this restaurant for years but never stepped in...until now.
At the bequest of a very good friend, we met up for couples night . The decor is upscale dining (white linen service) and the waitstaff is impeccable. The uniforms remind me of an airport private lounge concierge and they took that level of care with our order.
We started with drinks. My friend and I had the bourbon lovers and his wife, the lychee martini. My wife decided to wait to taste mine before ordering her "adult friendly " beverage. The beverage was a unique riff on the old fashioned being it had bourbon, bitters, and syrup but this was ELEVATED! The presentation was incredible. I kept getting gold leaf on my face but I was a novice at drinking this but I caught on after looking like I had the Midas touch. The lychee martini was delicious!!! So much so, my decided on that as her beverage for the evening.
Now the appetizer course comes. Because both my and my friend's wives both are allergic to shrimp, we started off with the veggie wrap. ONCE AGAIN the presentation is incredible. Now, admittedly this was my least liked dish of the night, but, there is only so much you can do with fresh vegetables and the peanut plum sauce was amazing! I'll still give it a six out of 10.
Next up is the calamari. As they were bringing out this dish, I thought who order onion rings? It was not onion rings but some of best calamari on the planet ( don't @ me)! It is real easy to mess up calamari as you can go from delicious to tire rubber in seconds. These were absolute perfection. That chili sauce was the bomb!!
More drinks! In order to change it up a bit, we switched to the Whiskey Daisy. It is their version of a Gold Rush- which happens to be one of my favorite drinks. This version is a MUST HAVE! His wife had the Fly High- which was essentially love in a glass! Their cocktail menu is so interesting, we may have to come just to explore this menu!
Main course time! I ordered the sea bass pan fried (seared) with their ginger soy sauce. That dish was so fragrant! I wonder if I can get some just to walk around the house and have my home smell this delicious!
My friend had the whole redfish. And they served the whole fish dressed on the plate with the come hither look and dressed to the nines in fruit slices and sweet chili sauce.
His wife had the
Shrimp and scallops on a green curry sauce that was made by angels and lovingly flown down to make it to her plate. Now I know you paid attention to the fact I mentioned she and my wife are allergic- they gave her extra scallops instead! Yum!!!
My wife had the redfish (sans the shrimp) that came out on a plate gently resting on some basil sauce that blessed to accentuate that gorgeous fish which was accompanied by the most perfect potatoes and blanketed in these fried garlic strips that it wore like a pair of Jimmy Choo's.
We made sure to all save room for desert. I am admittedly a coconut cake snob. This cake is not the over the top coconut bomb you will find in your usual bake shop. Think more soft tres leches... without all of the extra leches. A perfect way to finish a perfect meal with perfect company.
