Animae Restaurant Adds Casual Asian Cafe | Eater San Diego

"I stepped into a high‑ceilinged space, designed by Bells & Whistles, that evokes a giant terrarium with sweeping glass windows and tendrils of greenery dripping from the ceiling. NIMA Café, opened adjacent to Animae Restaurant, is a daytime‑focused spot in the Pacific Gate by Bosa building that’s open daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., available for private events, and geared for both dine‑in and grab‑and‑go breakfast and lunch. The menu, from executive chef/partner Joe Magnanelli and executive pastry chef Adrian Mendoza, spans a wide swath of Asian cuisines: breakfast includes homemade spam and egg musubi and Japanese egg omelet sandwiches with American cheese and miso mayonnaise plus pastries such as matcha croissants, pork sung buns, peanut butter togarashi cookies, and yuzu morning buns; lunch ranges from a duck grain bowl and miso chicken salad to a banh mi with duck liver pate, fresh spring rolls, warm savory rice porridge, and a pour‑over ramen with housemade noodles, soft egg, ham hock, and bok choy. I accidentally discovered this cafe and I’m so glad I did! I love how the place is nice and clean. It was cool inside, which was perfect for this hot weather. I got drinks and food and I superrr loved their matcha latte and biscoff latte! Highly recommended! I also enjoyed the siomai and spring rolls. I’ll definitely be coming back to try their other drinks and dishes as well!

This was our first time visiting Naima’s after seeing ads online and it was the best decision we’ve ever made. We were kindly greeted as soon as we walked in and Maria made us feel so welcomed. Although we were placing takeout orders, she sat us down and let us go over the menu until we were ready to order. The place is so lovely and comfortable, all the staff are extremely kind. The service was really quick and our drinks were made to perfection. If I could rate this over a 5 stars I would. I will be coming back often and is now a highly recommended place for food and drinks. :)

Ordered beef tapa & their biscoff milkshake! Beef tapa is well-cooked, it is easy to eat doesnt feel like you are chewing bubblegum plus the juices from the beef you can definitely see it. also their rice is not soggy then the sunny side up is well done because it is jiggly and still liquid in center not hardened perfectly paired with cucumbers and tomatoes:) when it comes to their beverage that I ordered the biscoff milkshake is so tasty if you are a sweet tooth like me you’ll probably like this. When it comes to their service, their staff named, jathrine (if im not mistaken) she did an exceptional performance even though she is the only staff at the store that time (September 27, 2025) and lots of customer she still serves us a good service from cooking the food, doing the beverage and preparing for the food (take outs) still she makes it right on time. Overall, NAF Cafe is a great coffeeshop that serves a good quality food & good service. will go here next time and try their other foods:)

omg!!! visited this really cute cafeee in little manila. unfortunately, they didnt have the tiramisu latte pero they suggested banana matcha and it DIDNT DISSAPOINT!! a bit too sweet for my liking pero when i told them they literally fixed it for me even if i alr drank it whahaha. ++ the best owners with such a very lovely team <3 (hi ate marie and ate jatherine) def would come back :)

Cute, quaint cafe on Woodbine. Menu is intriguing and yummy. I got the Pandan Matcha. My first time trying Pandan, so yummy!! Chicken Katsu was good too. Sean and Marie were the Barista’s there. Both of them were attentive, and I really felt they were excited and happy that I was there. That’s a lovely feeling!!! Would recommend! See you all there.

A taste of home! Staff are super friendly, dog friendly place, food is amazing and drinks are so delicious! It’s honestly better to dine in to eat your food fresh and your drinks won’t melt compare to uber eats! They also have patio seating outside to top off the summer evenings! Gemasen!!!

Naima's is a cozy little spot with cool vibes and a super convenient location. There’s usually enough parking which is rare and honestly appreciated. The service is quick but still thoughtful, like they actually care. Everything I’ve tried so far has been on point. The croffle waffles with cream and fruit? Sweet, rich, and messy in the best way. The fried chicken and fries were crispy and full of flavor, and that rice plate with the egg was simple but hit all the right notes. The inside has that cute cafe energy with fresh baked goods on display and a setup that makes you want to slow down and stay a bit. Definitely a solid spot for food, vibes, and dessert.

I drove by this place and it's super cute they had a little stand outside where they were selling their seasonal drinks and then they had all the other stuff inside they actually sell food I saw crawfuls and some brunch items They had some really interesting flavored lattes as well as matcha options and ube. I was a little overwhelmed but I decided to try the berry biscoff latte and it was really a good I was surprised because I've never had fruit with coffee if that makes sense and you still can taste the bisc off but it has like this sweetness to it which is berries and it reminded me of cereal milk if that makes any sense. While I was there there was a lot of people coming in and out of the restaurant there was families who were sitting down and dining and then there was a lot of foot traffic who just walked by and see the restaurant who was ordering as well. I definitely would love to come back and try one of their matcha options but the drink that I did have the berry biscoff latte I would give it a 9 out of 10 The staff was also really nice and that they walked me through the drink menu they asked me what types of drinks I preferred and then they gave their recommendation as well.
