The National Museum of Kenya has a great collection of exhibits, especially a good range of birds, animals, and human evolution displays. The service was good, and although we only had an hour, we managed to go around and see most of it. However, the displays feel quite outdated, and I sincerely hope the government can invest in improving the presentation and making the museum more interactive, especially for children. With the amount and quality of collections they have, this museum has the potential to be truly outstanding. It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re interested in natural history and culture, but it would be wonderful to see it modernized and made more engaging for younger visitors.

The Nairobi National Museum is an exciting and educational place for students. I gave it 4 stars because I really enjoyed the exhibits, the animals, and learning new things. However, I was a bit disappointed that I couldn’t touch the snake, which I was really looking forward to. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would recommend it for school trips and learning outside the classroom.

The National Museum of Kenya The National Museum of Kenya, located in Nairobi, is one of the country’s most important cultural and historical institutions. Established in 1910, the museum offers a fascinating journey through Kenya's rich heritage, showcasing everything from prehistoric fossils to contemporary art. One of the museum’s most famous exhibits is the collection of early human fossils discovered in the Great Rift Valley, including remains attributed to Homo habilis and Homo erectus. These findings have contributed significantly to our understanding of human evolution, earning Kenya the title "the cradle of mankind." In addition to its archaeological significance, the museum features galleries dedicated to ethnography, nature, art, and history. Visitors can explore Kenya’s diverse cultures, admire traditional artifacts, and learn about the country's flora and fauna. The museum also includes a snake park and botanical gardens, providing an engaging outdoor experience. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a science lover, or simply curious about Kenyan culture, the National Museum of Kenya offers a comprehensive and inspiring

The National Museum of Kenya, located in Nairobi, is a captivating gateway into the country’s rich cultural and natural heritage. Whether you're a tourist or a local, the museum offers a well-curated journey through Kenya’s history, biodiversity, and artistic expression. One of the most remarkable exhibits is the Hall of Human Origins, featuring world-famous fossil discoveries, including those attributed to early hominids from the Turkana region. The section on Kenyan tribes and traditions provides a colorful and insightful look into the diversity and unity of the nation’s people. Nature lovers will appreciate the extensive animal and bird collections, showcasing Kenya’s incredible wildlife, both past and present. The museum grounds also include a serene botanical garden and a snake park, making it an excellent spot for family outings. The art gallery highlights modern Kenyan artists, blending tradition with contemporary creativity. The facility is clean, well-organized, and supported by friendly and knowledgeable staff. The National Museum of Kenya stands as a remarkable gateway to history, culture, and nature. Visiting with a group of friends, I found the experience both captivating and enlightening. Among the most striking exhibits were the peculiar fish and snake species—creatures so unusual they compel you to pause and reflect on nature’s vast diversity. Equally compelling was the pictorial representation of the evolution of man. It did more than educate; it provoked thought and invited us to consider the long journey of humanity. Walking through the halls, I was reminded that museums are not merely spaces to observe but places to connect with stories that transcend time. The staff were warm and eager to assist, enhancing the overall experience. Opportunities to capture memorable moments abound, making the visit both informative and enjoyable. I left with a sense of wonder and gratitude for the preservation of such rich heritage. Without a doubt, I look forward to the next opportunity to explore more of what the museum has to offer. For anyone seeking knowledge, inspiration, or simply an enriching day out, the National Museum of Kenya stands ready to deliver.

The National Museum of Kenya is a must-visit if you’re curious about the country’s rich history, culture, and biodiversity. It offers a great mix of exhibits from prehistoric fossils and ethnographic displays to contemporary Kenyan art. It’s an educational and inspiring space for both locals and visitors. Entry is now paid via eCitizen, so it’s best to come already logged into your account to avoid delays at the gate. Also, wear comfortable shoes. There's quite a bit of walking involved if you want to explore the museum fully, including the botanical garden and nature trail. While most parts are well-maintained, the snake, reptile, and fish sections could use some upgrades. The fish area was partially closed during my visit not sure if it’s under renovation or something else, but it felt a bit neglected compared to the rest of the museum. Still, the overall experience is enriching, and it’s a great way to spend a day learning about Kenya’s past and present.

We had fun learning about kenya and wanders with all the exhibitions. Rather small for a “national museum”, but luckily due its small size, we could finish all exhibits within 2 hours. Including visits to the snake park + aquarium, and of course the souvenirs shop! 😅 Reasonable ticket price.

Absolutely love the Museum. The sections about Kenya is so informative. Love the new section about Bees preservation. Nicely done with giant bees models, the importance of bees to humanity. A bit scary to kids though
