Daniel’s Coffee closes in Silverado Ranch, but Nakata Sushi & Japanese Food is on the way | Eater Vegas

"Self-proclaimed as “the best Japanese market in Las Vegas,” Nakata Market of Japantakes is an essential local staple that features Japanese snacks, groceries, frozen foods, packaged goods and grab-and-go small dishes such as shumai, sushi, onigiri and noodles; the original market launched on the west side in 2008 and the operators opened a second store on Henderson’s Stephanie Street late last year, and they describe the concept as a take-out destination." - Bradley Martin

Google
Nakata Japanese Market I recently had the pleasure of visiting Nakata Japanese Market, and I can’t say enough good things about my experience! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a beautifully clean and organized space that immediately set a positive tone for our visit. The selection was impressive! They offered a wide variety of candy, snacks, ice cream, and drinks. It was like stepping into a treasure trove of delightful treats. Everything was well-priced, making it easy to indulge without breaking the bank. What truly stood out, though, was the friendliness of the staff. They were welcoming and eager to help, which added to the overall pleasant atmosphere of the market. We left with several items that we absolutely loved, and we can’t wait to return to explore even more of what they have to offer. If you’re looking for a fantastic selection of Japanese goods in a clean, friendly environment, Nakata Japanese Market is definitely worth a visit!

Google
So, I’ve visited six or seven Japanese markets across the valley, and this one has now become my favorite. Very unique offerings, quaint, clean aisles, organized products, and friendly staff. Thankful for this gem and hope to visit again soon.

The store name Market of Japan is confusing you might think most of products are from Japan, but is not, I bought randomly some products here, mostly expensive, but after reaching home carefully reading, might be only half were really Products of Japan, Like this Roasted Seaweed is actually fake Product of China, is not worth this money

TLDR: employees made fun of me in Japanese; am never be going back. My fiance is Japanese and is fluent in Japanese, so he's been helping me learn. I am hard of hearing and anxious though, so practicing talking to others by myself is very scary for me if I can't hear them and have to repeatedly ask them to speak up and/or speak slowly. I went in to ask if they had one specific item, in Japanese, because we come here all the time and thought it might be good practice since we thought the employees were nice. After I asked an employee, she opened a freezer door to show me two versions of the item, but she was facing the freezer and speaking in that direction. I heard absolutely nothing but saw her mouth moving, because, as I said, she was speaking into the freezer and I was behind her. I didn't want to inconvenience her by asking her to repeat herself louder, so I just said thank you because she helped me find what I needed. Didn't think too much about it. Later at checkout though, right in front of me, she was telling another female employee something regarding our interaction, and how I just said "Thank you." They both looked at me and laughed. Maybe she had asked me something, but since I couldn't hear her and couldn't/didn't answer her question, they thought it was funny.. Maybe it's all my fault, but honestly I'm horrified now haha and my fiance is pretty upset. We won't be going back. It's pretty pricey anyways so maybe it's okay :') Just our experience !

Google
Nice selection of premade Japanese sushi, onigiri, and other quick meals at an excellent price. The shop also has a lot of other snacks, and I love how almost all of their inventory is actually Japanese as opposed to Korean/chinese.

Google
really cute place and friendly workers. very reasonable prices too.

Google
The workers will act polite to you when speaking English, but when I tried speaking to them in Japanese, they either acted like they didn’t understand what I was saying or responded to me in English which I thought was odd and uncomfortable making me feel like I don’t belong with them even though I’m fluent in the language. Everything’s expensive so I wouldn’t bother coming here or to the other locations since I’ve have bad experiences with them too.

Google
Love Nakata Market! It's a great place to get your favorite Japanese drinks and snacks! Now that they have one near me in Henderson, I go once a week! They also have fresh sushis, tuna and salmon nigiri bowls and onigiri rice balls made daily. Friendly staff too! A must visit for any lover of Japanese foods and snackies, especially if you're in the Henderson area :)

Yelp
I love shopping in this place. So many fun foods and authentic Japanese dishes for you to take home and make delicious meals with I'm definitely stoked about the ramen selections, and Mr. Coffee has been my favorite ever since I spent a year in Korea. Thanks to all my friends who had me try new things! Swing by, check out all the spices, ramen, and delicious sweets. You won't regret it. Service: friendly/ good Ambiance: Japanese grocery Takes credit cards, and it's a good idea to bring your own bags.

Yelp
I've passed by Nakata market a few times while getting off the freeway on Stephanie Street, and I finally decided to stop in -- and I'm so glad I did! This little Japanese mom-and-pop shop is absolutely adorable. The moment I walked in, I was surrounded by cute Japanese goodies -- from Hello Kitty soy sauce bottles (yes, I totally got suckered in by the cuteness and bought one!) to beautifully designed tea sets, chopsticks, and shelves full of Japanese candies and snacks. Toward the back, they even have grab-and-go food items, along with cute socks and so much more. Every corner has something that makes you smile. Customer service is simple and straightforward -- you can tell there's a bit of a language barrier, but honestly, that just adds to the authenticity and charm. Staff is friendly, and if you need help, they're nearby and happy to assist if you ask. If you love Japanese culture, snacks, or just enjoy browsing cute and unique items you won't find in your everyday grocery store, Nakata is definitely worth a visit. It's one of those hidden gems that makes you feel like you've discovered a little slice of Japan right here in Henderson!

Yelp
Very small but cute. Loved all the brightly colored packaging. Few choices of fresh sushi but that may be because I came late. I did have the California roll which was fresh and tasty. I'll try the fruit sandwich next time. I've seen many TikTok's of Japanese minimarts that sold full cups of ice and and juice packets, had microwaves to cook your food and a place to eat. I was so hoping this store was that, but it's not. The employee was sweet but spoke little English.

Yelp
I happened upon this quaint little store while waiting for Thailicious to open after their break. What a treasure trove! They may be small but they seem to have a great variety of products. I picked up a lovely set of red chopsticks for my son. They provide small carts and baskets. You have to be careful with the carts because your items might fall straight through. Very clean and well organized. The two ladies working were very polite and helpful. Can't wait to tell my son about this one.

Yelp
Craving Japanese snacks? This place has it all! Tiny market filled with all the goodies from Japan. Nothing super healthy here but that's not the point lol
google avatar

Janess B.

Yelp
My favorite Japanese market. They have everything you need as if you were in Japan. I always buy all my sushi needs here. I also go here to get thier ready made fresh sushi and other Japanese dishes. Everything and anything you get here are made fresh daily! Service is always perfect. Staff are so nice. Ambiance is casual.

Yelp
Love this store. Love walking around looking at the different variety of Japanese goodies. They have aisles filled with sauces, noodles, snacks etc. They also have fresh food from sandos, sushi to diff onigiris. They are so friendly and helpful. Wish we had a closer location to MTN's Edge.

Yelp
This small Japanese "market" store is packed with goodness! We stopped by on the way from airport to Grand Canyon, just exit Stephanie st. It's literally on the way. We got 10 onigiris, spicy & non spicy, & a small sushi combo pack. Onigiris were $2.50 each, 5 sushi's + 4 cali rolls were $7.99. Not too bad price wise! The onigiris had generous stuffing & tasty, except the cod roe. Packaged savory snacks are ranging from about $5-$8. They have seaweeds, packaged curry sauces, packaged seasonings, drinks, & simple everyday items. The store is very clean & organized. No produce or raw meats, obviously.
google avatar

Rico N.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite Asian markets. We don't have many close by that has specific Japanese groceries. My wife and I always find the specialty ingredients we need for our recipes. Normally we'd grab them from Greenland which is 20-30 minutes away. It's nice to have Nakata less than 10 min away. Also, their onigiri is good and priced well. Our kids love it and when we don't feel like making it at home, we can always count on Nakata to have what we want.
google avatar

Yelp
I was excited to come in and see all the stuff that was here the first time. I've been here twice. The store is on the smaller side. It was clean in there. I love that they have the ready to eat foods. There were so many amazing treats in here. I will say some items seem to be a bit pricey. But I understand if it is items that we can't normally find elsewhere. I ended up grabbing a ton of stuff to try! The ladies in here that helped me check out were so friendly as well so I enjoyed the experience!

Yelp
2/27/2024- Had to stop in and check out a Japanese Market.. The food doesn't come out til 11 .. so a little bummed-.. Nice store front, wide and stocked with merchandise... No purchases this stop, ( already had tons of souvenirs from Japan)... Might try and make it back to try the food..

Signa L.

Yelp
Clean, organized, quality foods. I will purchase from them again. They had everything I needed except fresh veggies. No fresh produce is why I gave 4 instead of 5

Yelp
WOw, I felt like this is the only Japanese Market I was able to find in all of Nevada. I was impressed with all of the fresh food, and comfort foods here. No overpriced food here. I like all the noodles and fresh Sushi here as well. They are awesome. Can't wait to visit here again.

Mari B.

Yelp
Nice and interesting items at this store. If you like Japanese food, drinks, cosmetics, tea this the place. Staff is helpful.

Yelp
LOVE this market so so much! I make the drive here once a week, just for their food options. I love their fresh Japanese foods, desserts, and sushi they have! It's my perfect lunch! The people who work here are very kind as well! The store is very clean and well organized, super easy to find the things I need!

Yelp
This place is so excellent. I highly recommend it if you're looking for Japanese snacks or you're actually looking into getting sushi-grade fish or different kinds of Japanese food. The prices are reasonable, and you can get a nifty little card to get stamps on for, I believe, the discount at the end of it. Also, they make food, which is just a bonus to how incredible this place is! The workers are always super friendly, and the ambiance is calm, so you always feel welcome!
google avatar

Yelp
A cute little market with a lot of KAWAII items. From housewares, snacks, sauces, freshly made sushi, sodas, beer, candies, trinkets, medications and more. There is a back side aisle with some discounted items. If you don't know what it is you are looking at, flip the package around and there should be a pasted label in English describing what the item is.
google avatar

Brinda S.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this gem when I was getting my bike tuned next door. I've been to this plaza a few times but didn't notice this little market tucked inside. Not a very large place however the aisles seemed very well stocked with a variety of items. Lots of snacks, fresh sushi and other Japanese food, assorted drinks (including beer and sake!). I grabbed some sushi and seaweed salad and if I wasn't hungry I would have spent some time in every aisle. The food was really fresh and tasty and at a reasonable price. I will definitely come back and buy some staples for my kitchen and snacks. Such a neighborhood gem with lovely staff and I'm so happy it's here.

Yelp
Nakata market of Japan has been open for nearly 2 years. The shop has a nice selection of goods, including some refrigerated and frozen items. The workers are very nice and can be helpful if you have any questions. If you're in Henderson and are looking for Japanese food or supplies- check them out!
google avatar

Kimi Y.

Yelp
It's a convenient location and service is always great. I wish they had a bigger selection of bentos but what they have available is good. It's always fun visiting Nakata. The store isn't very big but they have a little bit of everything.
google avatar

Rain Bow T.

Yelp
Great Japanese/asian market. Lots of fresh fish options, and I like going there specifically for the fresh sushi roll/ onigiri bar. Staff are always friendly. Prices are a bit high, but mostly affordable. Selection is fair, but I am sure more will be there as it gets more popular.
google avatar

Monet B.

Yelp
Cute lil place - Spent an easy 130 on snacks and sushi. Recommend for easy, quick sushi on the go!
google avatar

Yelp
Great items to include fresh items (like a quick lunch) you cannot find in regular markets. The shelves and refrigerators are well stocked and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

Yelp
THIS PLACE IS THE BEST! It pops up in my head daily. My kids have been once and ask daily to go back. The prepped sushi is really good. The selection is huge!! I love this place. It's my go to Asian market!
google avatar

Kelvie S.

Yelp
Food is made fresh daily. Lots of awesome traditional Japanese drinks, snacks, and candies to choose from. Come here early or they will be sold out of nigiri, their fresh made sandos, chicken karaage, and sushi! It's that good!

Yelp
Visiting from out of town. Looked for nearby Asian markets and found this one. It's a cute Japanese store that sells a wide variety of food snacks, candies, freshly made sushi items, sandwiches, drinks, a few housewares and toiletries. No fresh produce though. A store owner told me that fresh produce doesn't move as fast in their store as in the larger one. If you are curious and want something quick to grab, this is the store. The owners are very polite and helpful. They provide good service and recommendations to other Asian food stores. The store is neat and clean. No unusual odor. Plenty of parking nearby. I would definitely come back here for another visit.

Yelp
I come here to grab my shower scrubbers, chopsticks and a bunch of asian snacks my kids love!

Yelp
Made a special visit to Nakata and was definitely not disappointed. A bit of everything Japanese is here. Of course, food is the main event. Freshly prepared bentos and sushi, frozen name (Japanese) brands, snacks, and the best unique instant noodle/soup selections. A super nice helpful staff, all very friendly. Well worth a visit!

Yelp
Very cute market in our neighborhood! We stopped by to look for a particular kind of chips, which unfortunately are seasonal and not at many stores. We caught ourselves staying a while in the drink aisle, and buying a rice paddle shaped like a cat paw. The drink selection here is really nice. They have a full cold section with coolers stocked with drinks, and some of the same drinks are across the aisle at room temperature. The worker stocking the shelves was helpful when I asked if there was the same selection in both sections. (There is with minimal variance) They have a section in the back of onigiri, pudding, and a couple other items readily made. My partner got a salmon onigiri and sadly did not like it much. The price was pretty fair at less than $4, though. There's also a pretty substantial soy sauce section. My rice paddle was about $5-6 which may seem pricey, but when I googled it, it is only available for import from special sites. They also have some Korean and Hawaiian products that I enjoyed seeing. Canned POG is always delicious, though we skipped on getting any this time. We tried a cute japanese brand of milk tea with a cow on it. It tasted the tiniest bit watered down or "healthier" than heavily sugared varieties I've tried elsewhere, which was really refreshing to have something different. If you're in the area running errands or just want to try a few new snacks, I suggest this market! They also have some trinkets up front to browse while you wait in line.
google avatar

Sandy S.

Yelp
Cute market ! I have some videos but they wouldn't post so anyway my girls wanted to do a challenge of different snacks . The prices are good for a specialty market .The workers were really nice and helpful as far as things we couldn't read in Japanese since my little ones are allergic to peanuts wanted to make sure items we purchased for them were safe .

Yumi M.

Yelp
I like the fresh onegiri and a few other snacks. It is more convenient than the larger Asian supermarkets, none of which are close to me. Clean and friendly.

Yelp
Great place to find delicious Japanese treats and hard to find ingredients for your cooking. Everyone who works there is really sweet natured and polite, can help you find anything and will even make helpful suggestions for brands to try. Pleasant Japanese music is playing in the background. The store is very well-organized and clean. WIDE selection of drinks; boba teas, soft drink, canned juices, tea lattes, etc. HUGE selection of chips and snacks. Good selection of sake's, both affordable and luxury options. Every kind of rice, in an affordable large quantity sack, and lots of variety of freeze dried mushrooms, seaweed etc to dress up your noodle soups. Hard to find items like tobiko salmon roe, variety of canned saba(mackerel) all can be found here and well priced. There's also ready-made meals like sushi, in the back fridge. I love that they carry a selection of beautiful ceramic bowls/soup spoons/tea cups/ fancy chopsticks. I will have to come back and pick up a few of these So happy I found this place! Can't say enough about this little store, they really are a gem!

Yelp
Nakata Market of Japan is an excellent store offering tasty Japanese snacks, yummy desserts, and refreshing drinks. They're located off 215 and Stephanie, near Trek Bicycle and next to Poke Express. This is an awesome place for grab and go. There's a nice selection of ready made sushi rolls and onigiri, sandwich, frozen treats, and calpico. They have several items for kitchenware, utensils, and a variety of grocery. Upon purchase, it was thoughtful of them to add in chopsticks and extra napkins. I had the California Special Roll ($6.49) which was good, and the Orange Patisserie cake with Strawberry frosting ($4.39) was sweet and delightful! All in all, the service here is very nice and welcoming.
google avatar

Yelp
Super cute Japanese market with a wide variety of items such as ready to eat foods, sake, frozen items, silverware, plateware, snacks, condiments, and beverages. Service was great and the ambiance is peaceful.

Yelp
Favorite market in the area for imported snacks and drinks. They have local Hawaiian products and fresh food that you can't find anywhere else. This store has a surprising amount of options. The staff is very kind and helpful with finding things. Will return again regularly.

Leslie T.

Yelp
I'm new to the area and am so pleased to find this sweet market. I was able to pick up ingredients for sukiyaki and bentos. Would love to see them grow. And the owners are very kind and gracious.

Yelp
I spent 20 years in the Navy, and almost 14 of those years were in the Pacific, so I visited Japan many times. I came to appreciate the people, the culture, and the cuisine of that country. Nakata Market is just a few miles from my home and I love going there for snacks, ready made food, and the ingredients for my forays in to Japanese cooking. The people who work there are friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Fun store. Their premade goodies in the back were fresh and tasty. Various assortments of Japanese and other Asian groceries. They even had some frozen items.

Yelp
What an amazing little Japanese market this is!! This market is located in a huge plaza and I had no trouble finding parking. It's full of great snacks, candies, food, drinks and so much more. The cashier was extremely kind and welcoming. All the staff were wearing masks and following covid protocols. They have a variety of Japanese snacks and goodies that I wanted to try them all! Everything looked so good. They have rows of condiments, instant noodles, and drinks. They also have pastries and sushi available. I was pleasantly surprised to see they have freshly packaged shabu shabu meat and Japanese vegetables. I will definitely be back here very soon. I highly recommend checking this market out! They have so much to offer.

Yelp
Looking for snacks, sake, ramen, pasta, curry, drinks, treats, and household gadgets "Made in Japan"? Then you must check out Nakata Market of Japan. If you might also be looking for Portuguese sausage, they have that, too! A quick google search for "Japanese Supermarkets in Las Vegas" will show three stores containing "Japan" in its name: Nakata Market of Japan, Japan Creek Market, and Japan Mini Mart. There are a lot of Japanese eateries in Sin City, but surprisingly, a very small % of Japanese people in Las Vegas. Therefore, the reason why there are only a few Japanese markets here. Maybe one day, something like Mitsuwa will find a home in Vegas, but until then, Nakata Market of Japan should suit your needs. This particular location is actually their 2nd store! It just celebrated its Grand Opening late December 2020, and is open daily from 10:00am to 7:00pm. On my first visit I picked up some Pickled Scallions (Rakkyo), a Frozen Wafer Matcha Sandwich, Kewpie Mayonaise, Yuzu & Black Pepper flavored Shrimp Chips, Spicy Ramen, Creamy Melon Sodas and other favorite beverages that I used to buy from the hot/cold vending machines in Japan, and DAISO brand Sponges (cool find!)! The store reminds me somewhat of a Konbini (convenience store) sans the large display of ready to serve hot and chilled foods to-go. There is a small corner of quick bites such as sushi, hopefully this will become a larger selection in the future! Welcome to the neighborhood, Nakata Market! Happy to have you nearby. \(0,0)/

Yelp
Super cute market full of fun snacks, drinks, food, and more! We love coming in and finding different little surprises every time! The employees are so friendly, I enjoy the energy they have! Always smiling and welcoming. Our favorite part would be the sushi that's made in house and the little bakery snacks next to it! We've tried some of their drinks and different pastries and everything has been great so far& If you're in the area, definitely stop by and see if there's anything you can find for fun, to make at home, or even to try! What an awesome, new market!

Yelp
Located next to Poke Express in the stephanie and Paseo verde shopping center. This cute and clean Japanese store is in the perfect location. Get a little poke next door and some goodies at Nakata. Nakata has tons of Japanese products from ramen, snacks, condiments, sake, a frozen section, fresh sushi and onigiri and also has some yummy baked goods.
google avatar

Mary M.

Yelp
I finally visited this shop last weekend after picking up some poke from next door. Get ready for snack overload! Sooo many different options for drinks, candy and cookies and they also have an aisle of home goods which include bowls, cups and a variety of chopsticks. There's a little freezer in the back of the store with some awesome ice cream, going back today to try some more snacks!

Yelp
What a great market full of Japanese snacks, drinks, foods and assorted items! This place Carrie's everything from soy sauces, chips, candies, canned goods, snacks, drinks (including some Hawaiian drinks), fresh and frozen items, plates, bowls, chopsticks and so much more! They have all different flavors and types of prepackaged Ramens. The store is super clean and organized. It is well stocked. It is easy to find in a shopping center right off Stephanie and the 215 in Henderson.

Yelp
What a lovely small Japanese market. Very welcoming and quite a bit of stock. I went in on 08JUL2022 to specifically look for kewpie mayonnaise and they had a small and large size available. While there I picked up a sushi mat and flat seaweed as my daughter wanted to learn to make California rolls. I saw a few items there that satisfied my craving. One was spicy yellowtail roll and the other was spicy roe (triangle.) Last item that called my attention was a Japanese Super Mario themed candy comparable to chocolate covered tiny cookies. Overall a great experience for a quick simple run. The workers there are very helpful and cordial. Will definitely drop by again for some additional items.
google avatar

Caitlyn M.

Yelp
Came here because we moved too far from our old favorite Asian market. They have a great selection of fresh fish, sushi making ingredients, & fun treats and candies. Will definitely be back since it's so convenient. They also have some premade rolls which taste a little fresher than a to-go grocery store roll.

Yelp
Nakata Market of Japan is probably my favorite Japanese market in Las Vegas. Nakata's is clean, organized and has all the Japanese staples that I usually make the trek to LA for. With everything going on, I have not been making my usual monthly trips to LA so this place has become a lifesaver. They have bags of rice, a frozen section for meat and ice cream treats, a small appliance aisle, and ready made bento. I have not tried any of their rolls yet. I usually come in pretty late so that section is always looking pretty empty. My favorite section is the candy section! I always find something new to try and I usually get suckered into buying some expensive blind box toy just because it is so kawaii! haha. Oh and the drink section. Melon soda all day! The customer service has been great as well. The lady that works has been very helpful. We had a few questions about a new bottle of gyudon sauce that we wanted to try and she was able to translate the label and even give us exact measurements for the recipe. Its hard to find stellar service like that these days. Definitely check out Nakata. Even if you don't need full on Japanese groceries, you should still stop by for your next snack adventure-- matcha Kit Kats and Ramune are waiting for you! Skip Amazon and support small businesses.

Yelp
Ordered poke express next door and can NEVER go straight to the car without stopping by this place. First, I LOVE how clean this place is. It is SPOTLESS. It even smells freshly cleaned since they wipe the counter, credit card machine, and pens after every customer! Thanks for keeping us safe with the cleanliness Nakata! Second, the back wall always has fresh ready to eat meals. Today they had salmon bowls, onigiri, sushi, and mocha donuts! Third, They have a great selection of Japanese goodies! I'm a sucker for instant ramen and there's so many to choose from! Prices range from $2-5, but you can't get these flavors anywhere else besides China town. I also left with some dry seaweed to eat with my poke!

Tiffany A.

Yelp
Such a cool little market! I got those seaweed, rice and mayo tuna wrap (also the spicy tuna is good but the salmon was okay) for only $2.25. I wanted to try the strawberry whipped cream cake sandwich but it was $5.99. I did get their green tea Kit Kat for $7.49. I also got their takoyaki chips for $3.29. I'm very satisfied with all my purchases!! Wish we had this store in California.
