Best Restaurants and Bars Near State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona | Eater Phoenix

"NakedQ offers stacked sandwiches and traditional platters for barbecue lovers. There’s pulled pork, pulled chicken, brisket, sliced turkey, ribs or jalapeno hot links and don’t forget the sides — like the cornbread, creamy slaw, potato salad, and barbecue beans." - Jamie Phillis

The Menu was pretty straight forward and easy to follow. The gal that took my order and prepared my food dishes was very welcoming and helpful with my questions. The Dining area was very busy, yet clean and orderly. The food was nicely packaged for our takeout order. I really appreciated that the takeout dishes had segregated compartments, keeping the sides separate from the meats. The meat was seasoned and smoked nicely! All the sides that we had were fresh and tasty. Keep up the good job....we'll definately add this to our rotation when we're in the area and looking for a place to eat. If you enjoy GOOD BBQ...Look no further! They got you covered here. 👍🏽

Google
The brisket was delicious with just the right amount on fat on the trim. Mac and cheese is my favorite side and the potato salad is good. They have a good variety of teas to choose from. Staff is lovely and the manager comes around to check we're ok. Definitely recommend over the other famous BBQ place with red in it's banner. Definitely worth the drive to Glendale or stop by if you are in the neighborhood

I have never gotten such disgusting meat ordering brisket from naked barbecue. I eat here as does my company on a regular basis and generally, I get two sides of very nicely sliced brisket with minimal fat. Today was the first time I’ve ever gotten this huge amount of fat, hardly any meat and less than half of what I would normally have gotten with this order. I really loved this place, but I won’t be going back after this. Truly disappointing and gross. Another thing I didn’t get any barbecue sauce with my order. You guys usually forget the barbecue sauce, but I’m willing to accept it because the meat is so delicious but this was extremely disappointing.

Our first time at NakedQ BBQ. We took our girls out after going shoe shopping straight from school. I honestly wanted to go through a drive thru and head home. We are so happy we didn't! We ordered a pulled pork sandwich with beans on the side, The 2 meat platter with Brisket & pulled pork. Mac n cheese, potato salad, it also came with corn bread, onions and cucumber that I believe were swimming in vinegar. Bbq sauces, Dr.Pepper & Sweet tea. EVERY SINGLE THING WE ORDERED WAS DELICIOUS! I felt like Homer Simpson when he drools over his donuts 🍩 😅 Now, keep in mind I have had these delicious food items from St.Louis, IL. As well as many cities in Texas! You have to try this place! Customer service was also great! We were greeted, asked how our food was and had a conversation. It felt like before Covid when Customer service existed. This is a bit out of my way, but my family loved it so much that we will return soon. They do have several locations. Find one near you and enjoy DELICIOUS food! Definitely take the family/friends along. My kids would choose pizza all day long and they stuffed their little faces like pizza never existed 😂 They kept saying IT'S SOOOOO GOOD! Why aren't there more people here!? I look forward to having the banana pudding next time. Try the GIANT 🍪 Don't second guess, show up. I recommend EVERYTHING 🤌🏼 Not the best picture as we had already started eating. Enjoy! And thank you NakedQ BBQ For a wonderful experience. Also, very affordable! Very clean and has clean restrooms 🚻

Google
I really liked this place. I think that the amount of food they give you is very reasonable for the price they charge. A lot of BBQ places charge a lot but only give you a little bit of food. Don't buy the banana pudding though!!!!! It's a scam lol. It's literally just banana flavored pudding not the traditional banana pudding that you would expect to pay for. Why would anyone sell that crap??? But the BBQ is really good, it's not the best in the world obviously but it's good and I've been back multiple times already.

Google
Visited Naked Q in Glendale and overall, it was a decent experience. The place is clean and the staff were friendly and welcoming, which made for a nice atmosphere. I ordered the two-meat platter, and while everything looked great, the food itself was fair at best. The meats lacked the bold, smoky flavor I was hoping for, and the sides were just okay. Not bad, but nothing that really stood out either. It’s a good spot if you’re nearby and craving BBQ, but for me, it didn’t quite hit the mark.

Google
This was my very first time eating from this awesome establishment. I will say the food is what I call "slap yo mama, GOOD EATS!!!!. The service when I went to pick up my food was somewhat questionable, the chef who was a big guy...was very negative with greeting and assisting me with what I wanted...I think I won't want his lack of customer service ever again!!! Yet the young woman who was so sweet and friendly was the BEST and BEAUTIFUL reason out many, WHY I would return. she made sure I had everything I needed and still kept a welcoming smile. The food was BUSSING!!!!

Google
Brisket was from the flat so it was very dry however it was very tender. Next time I'll try requesting from the point and hopefully that's better. Potato salad was bland and cut too big. Slaw was very average and the cornbread was meh as well.

Yelp
Food, service and ambiance was spot on. We were here for the Final Four. Popped in for a quick lunch, no wait. It is a walk up and order style like most BBQ joints. Being a Texan, we always talk a big game about our BBQ. This wasn't as smokey as our mesquite smoked meats. But it had a great flavor. I asked for burnt ends as my second meat and it wasn't as charred as I would normally want. It was more moist/wet like I would expect from a standard end cut of brisket. Sides were a little more sophisticated that normal BBQ joints. Cornbread was damn good. Sauce - I tried the sweet. It was very liquidly, not thick. But very flavorful. No complaints all. Would recommend and come back again.

Yelp
Well it never fails, we came to get a nice dinner at 6:45 pm -2 hours before closing and we are again told they are out of turkey and ribs! At a BQ restaurant? You run out of ribs and turkey again? This is the third time in a row. I'm getting very annoyed with the lack of restaurant management - very poor management who are unable to fulfill the menu at this Westgate location. We used to come here about 3-4 years ago and it happened all the time so we stopped coming to this location. We decided to start coming again and it has now happened 3x in a row on different days, during the week and on weekends. Horrible customer service and looks as if the restaurant is run cheap to serve the owner and not the customers - whom should be priority or the restaurant would close down without repeat and new customers. Anyway, beware of this location when you decide to dine there expecting BQ and being told they don't have any. Horrible and disappointing.

Yelp
First time finding this place ! Food was great people were very friendly and helpful. Brisket and pulled pork was great, only to be upstaged by the cornbread. I asked for my last piece of cornbread to go in a container! They put that and another piece in a container and I'm eating it now'! So good ! Great place !!!!
google avatar

Yelp
The ribs are still very good. As are the side dishes. Coleslaw good. Beans delicious. Cornbread great. The brisket HOWEVER, leaves a lot to be desired. It is Extremely dry. No amount of bbq sauce can regenerate the natural moisture that should make this dish tender and juicy. Somebody needs to try their own product before serving. The staff should have a tasting session before letting a dish like this out of the kitchen. I don't know if they even check Yelp revies, but they should. Will not order this again.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch today with a colleague. The brisket sandwich (from the lean side) was the best I think I've ever had! The potato salad was good, but missing something... maybe salt. Their iced tea is a bit weak; but I will definitely be back several times before traveling back home!

Yelp
Wood smoked barbecue in a strip mall doesn't give high expectations, but the fare at NakedQ is surprisingly tasty. In from NJ and not wanting to wander too far in the sun, I walked the two blocks south of my hotel to the outer edge of Westgate and into NakedQ for a two meat platter. The menu is pretty standard: you have your meats (brisket, pulled chicken, pulled pork, smoked turkey, ribs, hot links) and your sides (slaw, beans, mac and cheese, veggies). My platter of smoked turkey, chopped brisket, mac and cheese, Carolina style slaw, and a piece of cornbread came out from the counter in just a few minutes. While the brisket was dry and the slaw lacked much punch or flavor other than vinegar, the turkey was excellent: moist and smokey. The mac and cheese was creamy good, and all were improved with the house made sauces (the spicy being the best)

Yelp
NakedQ is a casual BBQ restaurant with (at this time) with three locations in metro Phoenix. The Glendale location is located in Westgate. It's casual you order and pay at the counter and seat yourself. It's called Naked BBQ because the food is seasoned nicely and doesn't come swimming in sauce but you can add on sauces yourself. My personal favorite meats I tried from NakedQ are the turkey and once in a while as a special they offer smoked corned beef. THOSE ARE BOMB! All the food is good but the turkey is extra special. Portions run large and prices are very reasonable. The service at this location was really great!

Yelp
I like to take my friends to different restaurants to make a compassion of the cuisine (BBQ ) we are going to eat. NakedQ was todays choice. My choice was the 2 meat platter which consisted of Pulled Pork, and Chopped Brisket. It comes with 2 sides and a piece of Cornbread. My sides were BBQ Beans and Mac and Cheese. Out of the whole meal my favorite was the Chopped Brisket. It had good flavor an the meat was nice and tender. My main criticism was the food was not hot. Mac and Cheese was my least favorite do being luke warm at best. The price point for BBQ was very good and the amount of food you get was good too! All the servers and manager were very friendly . The restaurant itself is very clean. I might give the Q another shot if I'm in the area and want some BBQ.
google avatar

Clayton K.

Yelp
Order the two meat platter... The sliced brisket was real good, the pulled pork was horrible. It was burnt on the outside and mushy on the inside.. Basically was burnt hard and mushy... not ideal for pulled pork. Macaroni and cheese: watered down it looked like yellow water and tasted like it too.

Yelp
Have had their catered service three times now. Sometimes it's hit or miss. It always tastes delicious as you can put BBQ sauce on to Moisten it up, but it has been dry on occasion. It definitely tastes better when you eat there at the restaurant and it isn't dry. If you have BBQd though you know how hard that is. It's almost always the chicken. The staff is always awesome and amazing. The sides are delicious. The corn bread is ok, again dry and not to my taste as I like sweet corn bread. My advice, don't get the chicken or cornbread and you will have a 5 star experience. I look forward to our next catered event.

Yelp
Food was simple, but tasty! Tender BBQ, reasonable prices, and their homemade sauces were delicious! We came at a slow time, so no issues with service. Would come back again if in the area.

Lori P.

Yelp
First time here and it was so yummy!! Had the sliced brisket and it was moist and delicious. Also had the pulled pork. It was flavorful as well. The sauces are good. I liked the spicy one. The big cookie with the sea salt is delicious. Will be back.

Yelp
First, the brisket, sweet BBQ sauce and pickles were outstanding. I'd go back though, for only those items. Pulled pork sandwich was dry, flavorless, and lacked that 'smoke' you would expect. Additionally, the bun was petrified and there was no juicy meat to help with that. It's a choker. Husband tried drowning it in sauce, but didn't help much. The best way I can describe their food generally is 'soulless'. No real effort in the sides I tried. Mac and cheese was missing the important part; cheese! Dry and what? Al Dente cavatappi ?noodles that cheese doesn't cling to. Restaurants PLEASE try to stop making macaroni and cheese 'original! ' There's a reason people like it just how it is. This version was like a cruel joke. Kids were like what?! Potato salad wholly flavorless and not at all creamy. Same for the coleslaw. Creamy does not mean a bit of juice that sinks right to the bottom of limp cabbage. It was slightly more flavorful than the potato salad once you dug some meager juice out of the bottom and cabbage wasn't the freshest by any means. Hispanic girl at counter seemed impatient I needed a minute to look over the menu as it was my first time there and packaged what was supposed to be separate sides in one container. Irritated because we we're staying at a hotel and it was hard to divide among those who asked for it. (There was no in line after me so I'm not sure why I had to be rushed). No warm welcome or attempt at hospitality. Stark but clean atmosphere; too much so for a BBQ joint. No music, just silence. I'm from Texas so I guess I'm expecting too much. BBQ places there are nothing like this. They have a much better selection of sides that are BBQ authentic like fried okra, cabbage and Texas Toast. Even Dickey's does a better job with these. I surmise this place is supposed to be a new-fangled 'Foodie' take on BBQ. A bit of advice; if it ain't broke don't fix it. Emulate it!

Royce K.

Yelp
Not a bad little bbq place the brisket is light on the smoke flavor not to much bark I prefer more iam not a big sauce person so I dint really try them didn't get any sides so I can't say anything about them I will go back try them agian

Yelp
Really enjoyed their spare ribs. They were tender and tasty! We did not eat in but just ordered to-go. Very nice staff member gave us our order. Will return to eat in one of these days.
google avatar

Yelp
First timer and I got the Jalapeño hot link sandwich with Mac n cheese! It was pretty good. The corn bread was a little dry. Outstanding customer service! And good prices!
google avatar

Dave S.

Yelp
Great brisket and sides! Fast delivery Brisket was perfectly seasoned, moist and meaty. Pulled pork was not as successful but still tasty. Beans were a star. Great seasoning with perfect juice. Mac and cheese and Cole slaw as wel!!

Yelp
Follow up to first review: We enjoyed the Naked Q so much we went back pretty soon. I have to say at first I wasn't thrilled because the brisket was fatty, which I'm not a fan of. The manager came by and asked how we were doing and I mentioned that to him and he immediately brought lean meat over to us! So good! We also had peach pie, but my hubby ate it so fast I didn't get a pic! Definitely give the Naked Q a try!

Yelp
Visiting the area & ordered my food for delivery. Food arrived fast and was extremely hot. The two meat platter was sliced brisket and jalapeño sausage with baked beans and macaroni and cheese and cornbread. The other order was the pitbull special which was pulled pork, sliced brisket, and one rib with potato salad and beans. Brisket was extremely tender, but pretty fatty, but had an overall good taste. The sausage was good. Did not have a kick to it even with it having jalapeño in it so definitely not overly spicy. And the pulled pork was tinder with good seasoning to it. As for the beans they're more of a western style baked bean and that's not sweet but did a pieces of brisket in it but weren't bad. Macaroni and cheese was good. It looked a little dry but actually it was very flavorful. Potato salad was also damn solid. Neither one of us like the cornbread. It was kind of tough which is weird for bread. The giant cookies were really good. They were sweet, but also had sea salt were gone on top of them, which gave them a unique flavor. something I would definitely get again.

Yelp
We were in the area visiting and looking for BBQ found this little gem on Yelp (of course). The restaurant is located on the corner of a small shopping plaza in the heart of the entertainment district. The restaurant is an order at the counter and sit and enjoy type of place. The menu is overhead and simple. We were greeted immediately by both the counter assistant and (I'm assuming) the manager. We all gave our order, received our food, and settled in for a delicious meal! There were sauces to choose from, and a variety of drinks and teas. I had the brisket and chicken. The brisket was AMAZING! Tender and flavorful. For my sides I had Cole slaw and the vegetable of the day which was roasted broccoli which was ok but I'm not a roasted broccoli fan. The people who joined me had the sausage, pork sandwich, and macaroni and cheese which I heard was really good. While we were eating the cook (or manger) came by to see if all was good. All and all this place is definitely worth the try. The food was fresh, delicious, and the prices pretty standard. Wish I had taken some pics. Glad we didn't overlook.
google avatar

Yelp
In town for basketball tournament and wish we had tried this sooner. We order some of everything and ordered more to take on the drive home. Brisket and chicken was so flavorful. The manager or owner came out to see how we liked the food, which almost never happens anymore. They also have a colossal chocolate chip cookie for $2. You can't pass it up. We will be back lol maybe just for Barbque. Oh and prices comparatively for good Barbque, these guys are shortchanging themselves. This food is way better than any of the chain restaurants.

Sylvia C.

Yelp
Well today's dinner order really fell apart: ordered thru Uber Eats a turkey sandwich and a turkey meal. The turkey was terribly salty and inedible. I called to let them know, and offered to pickup another meat sandwich, we ordered for delivery as we couldn't come pick up another meal. Maybe next time. Needless to say it was a bit disappointing, especially for what we pay for. Sorry we usually have a good experience.
google avatar

Yelp
Haven't been since last year but prior to moving farther west we ate here every cpl weeks for YEARS and it's always fantastic. Close to tons of hotels so easy to walk to from about 5 . Otherwise it's a couple mile drive north or south to cross the freeway and head up or down.
google avatar

Jill L.

Yelp
Cornbread was dry, beans had no flavor, and the Mac and cheese was gluey like elementary school cafeteria food. Meat was good and portions were as well.
google avatar

Kevin N.

Yelp
Very good bbq. Actually the best I've had in the Phoenix area. Great smoked turkey and pulled pork

Rich R.

Yelp
Naked Q? More like naked in flavor worst bbq ever! One sauce for 5lb of meat ? Yeah what's that about and also everything tastes like it's been sitting all day
google avatar

Charity T.

Yelp
Wonderful, delicious food! Great staff! When I told them I'd rather have raw onions instead of pickled onions, they accommodated! Love them! Definitely recommend!
google avatar

Sabrina P.

Yelp
I thought this was a restaurant but walking in, it was like Chipotle. I actually preferred this because I was starving and getting my food faster then waiting in a restaurant was ideal. I ordered the 2 meat platter that comes with 2 sides and a corn bread. I got pulled pork, brisket, Mac and cheese, potato salad and a corn bread. The meats were absolutely amazing in flavor and so tender. The corn bread was very good too. Now, the sides were just okay. The service was great, they were knowledgeable about the food and they had a good sense of humor. I recommend this place for the amazing and delicious meat.
google avatar

Linda P.

Yelp
The food was great, the meat portion was great, potato salad was good, but the coleslaw was running, but it was very good, the service of the two girl, could have been a little friendly. The black girl was the one that given us the meat. She did not smile or even greet us, matter of fact, I had said hello first but all she did was smile, the other girl at the register, didn't said hello and didn't smile. We got there when they first open up at 11:00 and it was our first time there. So the four star is really for the food. Now the BBQ sauce it was very running, my guy did not like the sauce. But others then that it was good food.

Jesyka P.

Yelp
The brisket is moist and flavorful it's so good you don't need bbq sauce don't forget to ask for sliced bread and house made pickles and onions!!

David W.

Yelp
Great BBQ. We tried several dishes offered here. We've stopped previously a few times in the early afternoon, only to find they're SOLD OUT FOR THE DAY! BBQ here is one of the best we've had in the Valley. Get there early, or you may find that they're Sold Out... You won't go wrong with any menu item. It's worth checking this location out if you enjoy BBQ...
google avatar

Selena R.

Yelp
The food proved to be exceptionally delectable. Our arrival was met with a warm reception from the attentive staff. We dedicated a brief moment to look at the menu, which presented an array of beloved barbecue classics. The broccoli, beans, and potato salad were particular highlights for both myself and my husband. The meat exhibited remarkable tenderness, and the option to select our preferred barbeque sauces served as a delightful accompaniment to the flavors. The establishment boasts a vibrant and pristine ambiance, enhancing the overall dining experience.
google avatar

Heather F.

Yelp
Great food and great location. The vibe inside is great! Good for big groups or families or a couple. Great variety of meats and sides. We love this place & continue to come back!
google avatar

Laura L.

Yelp
Great place to get bbq if you're in a hurry. It's like a chipotle for bbq. They had a good selection and the food was good. The manager came around making sure everyone was taken care of.

Bucky W.

Yelp
I stopped in as it was next to my hotel. I needed something quick and due to self imposed diet restrictions, I need something low carb but delicious. This fit the bill. The smoked Turkey was excellent. Brisket was also good but I love the Turkey. Friendly and very quick service. Don't worry they have plenty of carbs in Max & cheese, cornbread, etc. enjoy
google avatar

Paige W.

Yelp
Food was delicious. I had the pulled chicken sandwich and the potato salad. I like that you can add your own sauce. Delicious!
google avatar

Jennifer H.

Yelp
Very nice people. We thought all of our food was just ok, but plenty of space for our large party on a Saturday night.
google avatar

Susan R.

Yelp
I ordered delivery through DoorDash. Food was to be delivered in 25 to 30 minutes, but I had it 20 minutes later. Driver was prompt and friendly. I enjoyed the two meat platter, choosing bbq ribs and sliced brisket with slaw and potato salad. The tender, meaty ribs had a tangy dry rub with great smoky flavor. Slaw was just the right amount of dressing, fresh and flavorful. Only complaint on the potato salad was the skin was left on. Personal preference is no skin, but otherwise the potato salad, too, was cold, tender, flavorful with a little crunchy veggies mixed in for texture. Cornbread was still warm when the food arrived. I haven't eaten the brisket yet because I filled up on the ribs. It looks delish, though. I will definitely try NakedQ again.
google avatar

Brian N.

Yelp
This place is pretty new at Westgate. Decided to give it a try. Ordered the two meat plate. Turkey and jalapeño sausage. Sides were potato salad and beans. I really liked the two meats. Turkey was moist and tasty. Sausage was really flavorful and juicy. Potato salad was also good with big chunks and egg and potato. Beans were a little hard and had no flavor. Now to the bbq sauce. They have two. Sweet and spicy. Sweet was too sweet for me and the spicy was sweet with a little spice. There was also mustard sauce. So I mixed the mustard sauce with the spicy and it made it a little better. Mustard was also added to the beans to give it life. Overall it was pretty good. Probably come back but I'm bringing my own sauce.
google avatar

Jessica B.

Yelp
Pleasantly Surprised!!! This was our 1st time there. The food was yummy, decently priced, and the staff was super nice. We will absolutely be eating there again!
google avatar

Roxanne J.

Yelp
First visit for me and my 95 yo mom. We both had the chopped brisket and I must say it was the best brisket I've had since moving from Texas! Love that they serve the meat unsauced and it is moist enough to not need sauce if you don't want it. Portion size was just right with kitchen staff weighing the meat as they built our order. Love that this helps keep the price VERY reasonable. I will absolutely be back.
google avatar

Ariella P.

Yelp
We went to NakedQ for my spouse's birthday. Solid food, friendly service. Only complaint was that the macaroni and cheese was pretty watery--they changed it right after we went through the line. We will definitely return because the prices can't be beat for the quality of flavor.
google avatar

Althea G.

Yelp
First time trying. Fair customer service. However my bun was dry or stale, mac was dry, and beans were under season
google avatar

Samantha W.

Yelp
Excellent pulled pork and Mac n cheese. Owner is very nice. Music gets an +A ....LOVE real country music
google avatar

Steve P.

Yelp
Seriously great BBQ. very friendly staff and open environment. I walked here from my hotel, first off walking in Phoenix, what was I thinking? I was greeted by some very friendly counter workers and what I assume was the pit master. Smiles and very helpful as this was my first time visiting. I ordered the two meat special and ordered chopped brisket and pulled pork. Sided by double healthy vegetables, garlic green beans. The pulled pork with the vinegar bbq sauce was amaze-what-for-it-zing! The brisket with mustard bbq sauce was a holy marriage of happy and heavenly. I liked the beans, but loved the meat and sauce. If you see this review go try it.
google avatar

Yelp
The best BBQ IN TOWN. EVERYTHING is delicious. Prices are reasonable. Don't miss out.

Yelp
Nice folks serving great smoky barbecue. Order, pick up, and pay as you enter. Good sized portions and reasonable prices. Refillable drinks. Clean simple seating. I'm going back!

Yelp
I'm from Alabama and have lived in the west for a while/ this spot has good bbq and sweet tea. Great meat quality- not too fatty or small portions like some places.
