The 22 Best Restaurants In Maui 2024

"We’d very happily eat at Nalu’s three times a day, which is saying quite a lot. It’s a perfect spot to bring a group or a family that includes kids because of the casual open-air setting and the large tables inside and on the patio. (And for adults, there’s a full bar with one of our favorite drinks on the island, their kimchi Bloody Mary.) And if your morning beach walk turned into a morning beach nap, breakfast items are available until 2:30pm, with some, like the loco moco and the chicken and waffles, on the menu all day." - martha cheng, team infatuation

"When tragedy strikes—like the Paris terrorist attacks or the Parkland mass shooting—Nalu’s South Shore Grill creates mile-long leis from local ti leaves for those affected. Representatives then present the leis to the victims personally, while offering chants for healing. Oftentimes, the restaurant also creates the leis to celebrate accomplishments, like the return of the Hawaiian canoe Hōkūleʻa after its three-year, round-the-world voyage. Aside from being a beacon of humanitarian light, Nalu’s is a favorite for local dishes like poke bowls, island-style beef short ribs, and loco moco (a ground beef patty served over brown rice and topped with eggs, homemade gravy, and black lava salt). If you want to give back, order the roasted beet and goat cheese salad and 50 percent of the purchase price will go to charity."

10 Best Breakfast Spots in Maui for a Fresh Start to the Day | Condé Nast Traveler

"Breakfast at Nalu's consists of hearty, soul-satisfying comfort food; take the loco moco, made with local eggs, grass-fed beef from Makaweli Ranch, and homemade gravy. Other breakfast standouts include the Black and Blue ahi Benedict, topped with fresh-caught ahi tuna and local mushrooms, and the world’s fluffiest pineapple-banana pancakes, which satisfy, but still leave room for malasadas—breakfast-dessert is a thing, right? The restaurant sources seasonal ingredients directly from local farms, and you can taste that freshness in every dish." - Kris Fordham

Google
A fun spot with live music, good food, & great chicken-watching! There is usually a line to get inside because you have to place your order & pay before you can find a table. It’s a loud but happy atmosphere, & children are easily entertained by the roosters. Some tasty vegan options!

Google
Excellent venue for tasting local dishes, we stopped by for breakfast with a group of 5 and every dish was a 5/5. I had a traditional Loco Moco which was flavorful and filling. The fries were surprise, I think they are cooked with garlic oil, and topped with spicy mayo, sesame and chives. This place is a must visit if visiting Kihei, well worth the queue and wait time but service is speedy. The dinner and happy hour menu looked just as inviting but will have to plan another visit to try. During our breakfast visit we were treated to some traditional Hawaiian music and dancing which was so very welcoming.

Absolutely incredible meal at Nalu's! The Poki of the Day was super fresh and flavorful—perfectly seasoned. The fresh tuna was melt-in-your-mouth delicious and clearly top quality. We also had the fish and chips, and wow—crispy, golden batter with tender, flaky fish inside. Everything was served with aloha. Highly recommend if you're in Kihei and craving something local and fresh!

Google
How have we missed this gem? Breakfast was fantastic, loco moco was so good. Chicken and waffles and cornflake crusted french toast were incredible. Island pancakes were a favorite. This is now on our rotation for Maui breakfast spots

Google
This is one restaurant I actually feel like that cares about their atmosphere. You know it’s good when there is a like for food at 8pm at night. Best burger I’ve ever had in my life. I was skeptical of the apple on my burger but I trusted and it was great. Loved the staff, music and food. Would recommend. There is a reason they have a 4.7 with 5000 reviews currently. I got the Apple Brie Burger which was incredible. Great prices too We went for breakfast too and it was equally as good! Will be returning next time we visit. The chicken and waffles was incredible.

Google
Very nice place to have dinner. Even though we waited for some time to order the food because of the line the overall experience was good. We were offered fruit infused water while we were waiting in line. As usual we have to go up and order food and then get seated by the hostess. The food came out pretty fast. They had live music as well. The food was cooked to perfection. Generous portions. We had leftovers lol. The whole family loved it. The staff was attentive and friendly. Please try it out!

Google
We had to wait a while for the hostess to come back to be seated. You order at the hostess counter before being seated. I had to go to the bar to get my soft drink filled and refilled. A chicken jumped on our table and started pecking at our salad. When I scared it away, it stomped on my wife's salad plate. The manager replaced our salad dish. The sandwich we had was good and the crab cake salad was fine.

Google
had an amazing (& affordable) brunch at nalu’s — service was friendly & quick. the french toast had a thick lilikoi marmalade filling that was a bit too overpowering, but after scraping some out, all the french toast components worked magically together. i’d come back just for the chicken & waffles - crispy bacon, crunchy chicken with an insane spice blend, and rosemary maple syrup meshed together for the perfect savory sweet bite.

Yelp
So many great restaurants are hidden away in unassuming strip malls. We want to add one more review for this great Kihei eatery. From the parking lot you can see the line to be seated. Before you give it another thought, it's worth it and the line moves quickly. The ambiance at Nalu's is relaxed and welcoming, with outdoor seating that allows you to soak in the beautiful Maui weather. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure every visit is a memorable one. We were too early for the posted time of the lunch special, but it looked fantastic. We made a comment about how good it sounds, and we will need to try next time. The host said hold on a minute let me check with the kitchen-they can usually accommodate. Sure enough they did, and it was absolutely as great as we expected. This was how the rest of our visit went. Everyone was nice, friendly, efficient, and accommodating. Now to the food. How often do you get to rave about a salad, but here you go. From the menu- Farm fresh egg, locally grown organic kale, cherry tomatoes, spiral beets & carrots, crispy quinoa, garden basil, and raw cashews, tossed in a tarragon vinaigrette. Delicious. Since you have a healthy option, you can cheat a little with their Volcano fries. They are spicy, but in a flavorful way. Not in a make your tongue go numb way. Of course they serve up the classics too. Loco Moco, Poke Bowls and there are number of seafood options. Our special was the fish, and it was fresh and cooked to perfection. Put South Shore Grill on your list of places to try because the food is just as good as the service. Breakfast Salad  GS Farm fresh 63° egg, locally grown organic kale, cherry tomatoes, spiral beets & carrots, crispy quinoa, garden basil, and raw cashews, tossed in a tarragon vinaigrette. Ahi Club Fresh island yellow fin tuna seared rare, topped with applewood smoked bacon, butter lettuce, tomato, caramelized Maui onions, over crisp sourdough. and Volcano fries

Yelp
We stumbled upon this gem in Kihei completely by chance, and it turned out to be one of the best surprises of our trip! The menu is packed with amazing options, and everything is made fresh with locally sourced ingredients. It's clear they put a lot of love into their food and drinks. Let's start with the drinks: the Kimchi Bloody Mary was nothing short of legendary. Their homemade Bloody Mary mix is out of this world--zesty, savory, and perfectly spiced. The addition of kimchi gave it a salty, tangy kick that elevated the whole experience. And the toppings? Let's just say this wasn't just a drink; it was a fully loaded appetizer on top. Absolutely over-the-top in the best way possible! As for the food, we went for the Loco Moco, and it did not disappoint. They put a healthier spin on this classic with perfectly cooked brown rice, but it was still rich and satisfying. The fried eggs were done exactly how we like them, the gravy was flavorful and comforting, and the dish came with a creamy pasta salad and a medley of pickled toppings that added a great tangy crunch. It was perfectly balanced and completely delicious. The service at the bar was awesome. The bartender was super friendly and knowledgeable, patiently answering all our questions and giving great recommendations. The ambiance of the restaurant was lovely, with an indoor-outdoor feel thanks to their large open doors. It's the kind of place where you want to linger and soak it all in. Normally, I'm pretty stingy with 5-star reviews, but this place deserves every bit of it. Don't just take my word for it--check out the photos, stop in, and prepare to be wowed. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
I had the desire for island pancakes and found Nalu's, let me tell you, they were so delicious and fluffy with fresh pineapple chunks, sliced banana and macadamia nuts served with a rum syrup and it was a combination that was very delicious! I also ordered the Portuguese sausage which was outstanding! My son ordered the Heavy Kine breakfast and he enjoyed it as well. The service is great and a little different. You stand in line to order then you can sit where you like. The restaurant is open and very nice and islandy and clean. I enjoyed our dining experience and would definitely come back to Nalu's South Shore Grill!!

Yelp
Sunday January 19th 2025 11:00 am waiting time was approximately 30 minutes. They're on an egg shortage so only scrambled eggs. Always love the infused cold water and island vibe and music. And chickens roaming around. Great Loco Moco.. HUGE portions.. you could share. Enjoy!

Yelp
down by the shore?? We chose Nalu's for dinner for its healthy Yelp rating, and its close proximity to our hotel. NOTES 1. The line begins to the left of the cashier/hostess. Take a look at the menus and place your order before finding a seat. You'll be given a number placard, so please make sure to clearly display it on your table. 2. If you've ordered a drink, you must pick it up at the bar. 3. Happy hour is 3:00pm to 6:00pm. There are 7 items for $7. 4. Ample parking available in the shopping center lot. Collectively, we ordered the apple Brie burger, and the happy hour chicken skewers, seared ahi, and the Korean poke tacos. The food was ok. If I had to pick the best thing we ate, it was probably the Korean poke tacos. The burger was just ok, and I disliked that we had to pay extra for fries (homemade chips are served with the burger versus fries). SERVICE It was ok. There wasn't much interaction with the staff after ordering. They were polite when they took away our empty plates, but that's about it. BOTTOM LINE The entire experience was just ok. I didn't care for their ordering/line up model.

Yelp
Everyone in Maui claims to have the best Mai Tais and Loco Mocos. I will say the Mai Tai's were amazing. Britt, the bartender, went above and beyond while making my drinks. The Loco Moco was very picturesque but kinda flavorless (a corny rhyme I know). I would definitely go back for drinks but on the fence about the food.

Yelp
So nice, we had it twice! An easy spot to park and grab food, with live music! This ended up being our spot for Thanksgiving as well, as they were open. They even had a Thanksgiving menu, though I opted for the burger. Burger was excellent, perfectly juicy. Really enjoyed the fries, and we ordered a side of volcano fries for the table. Garlicky, spicy, and salty with the furikake. Those were really good. My first night I had the fish and "chips" with the fried green beans. These were incredible, I love green beans though. It's an interesting set up: you review the menu, order and pay, before you sit down or grab a table. So if the line looks long to get in, that's probably why! It's just people ordering.

Yelp
Enjoyed breakfast at Nalu's in Kihei at the Azeka Marketplace. Located behind the Kihei post office, keep driving to the back of the parking lot, near Ace Hardware. Don't be discouraged if you see a line, the line moves fast. Get in line and be ready to order when you get to the cashier stand. There are menus posted in line. Crab Cake Benedict.was their special. Ordered the Heavy Kine Breakfast, Crab Cake Benedict and Big Kahuna Omelet. The Big Kahuna Omelet lived up to its name- BIG! The kim chee fried rice was good; however, it was more kim chee than we would have liked. Good amount of Portuguese sausage, bacon and ham. The Heavy Kine breakfast with bacon was good. The furikake-garlic breakfast potatoes were the star. Would go back just for those. Crab cake Benedict with furikake-garlic breakfast potatoes were delicious. Good sized crab cake. Liked the pineapple slaw and citrus hollandaise. You order at the cashier, get a number, find a table and pick up drinks from the bar (coffee, juice). Your food will be delivered to your table. There is open-air indoor seating and outdoor seating. Ask any server for take-out boxes. Happy with our meal and experience at Nalu's. Would definitely go again.

Yelp
What a gem! This is one of my favorite places in Maui. There is clearly love in the food and service. It's a family friendly restaurant. I had the chicken and waffles which was quite the experience. The waffle was fluffy but still a nice density and heft to it. The unique part was the floral aroma and flavor to the waffle and syrup. Sage and rosemary were fun! And the chicken was crispy and delicious. I'll definitely be back to have more of the menu.

Yelp
Super fun, casual spot. We stopped in for lunch. There was a bit of a line when we arrived, but it moved pretty fast and we were able to get a table quickly. Had a hard time deciding what to try because everything looks so good. Ultimately decided on the straight up burger and ahi club with volcano fries. Both dishes were really good and very well done. You could tell the ahi was fresh. I would maybe ask for it without bacon, because the bacon was a little much The volcano fries were actually probably our favorite. I loved the sesame seeds and Siracha infusion. Must try! The kimchi bloody Mary was absolutely amazing. Probably one of my favorite things I tried in Maui perfectly spicy lots of kimchi on top and the bloody Mary mix itself was good.

Yelp
PARKING: They share a lot with all of the restaurants in the area. Easy to find parking. SERVICE: You order at the hostess stand and then sit down. Unless you sit at the bar, then they take your order there. FOOD: I was highly recommend to try their ahi sandwich so that's exactly what I came for & it did not disappoint! $25 AHI CLUB SANDWICH (added potato chips $2): this was SO FRESH & DELICIOUS. Honestly the caramelized onions gave it a whole other depth of flavor. Chips were freshly made & salted to perfection!

Yelp
My husband and I came here on Christmas Day around 11:30 AM while on vacation, and there was about a 15 minute wait (not too bad especially considering the holiday hours!). We were able to plan out what we wanted to order while in the line, and we were created by a friendly staff member who took our order at the counter & handed us a number card to place on our table inside. He ordered the Apple Brie burger (7.5/10) and I ordered Nalu's Raw Salad with chicken (it still says grilled chicken on the menu but it's now teriyaki chicken skewers!) which was a solid 10 out of 10!!! The ambience was fantastic and festive for the holidays, and all the staff members there were extremely friendly!

Yelp
We went to Nalu Grill early after our morning run. They open at 8am and there's always a line already. Not to worry. They have plenty of space for inside and patio dining. The restaurant is spacious and has that dark KOA wood decor. While we were in line, they offered us pineapple infused water. The menu is hung on the wall adjacent to the line so you can decide what to order. Ordering is done before you're seated so be ready when they ask you what you want. Chickens roam freely around the restaurant in Maui, but they are freindly. Their menu is very simple and has just enough variety to choose from. I would call it America and Hawaiian. I opted for the loco moco. My better half got the ahi benedict. My loco moco was over the top good. Probably the best I had. It was charbroiled and tasted like it was made with love. The Benedict came with generous amounts of ahi tuna and the mac salad was perfect! No complaints from either of us. If what I had was this good, I wonder how the other stuff on the menu compares. I'll have to go back and try tomorrow!

Yelp
After a long-overdue return to Nalu's in Kihei, I'm happy to say it's still one of our absolute favorite spots on the island! We've always recommended it to friends and family who visit, thanks to their consistently great food and service. With the downturn in the island economy and a tighter budget, we hadn't been able to enjoy Nalu's as often as we'd like--unless for a special occasion. But on this visit, we were pleasantly surprised to discover they now offer a $7 happy hour menu from 3-7 pm. The selections were fantastic, and the portions were generous for the price. We indulged in Poké tacos, calamari, and Kalbi ribs--more than enough to make it a satisfying dinner. What really made the night even more special was the live music. We were serenaded by the sounds of Kenny Robert & Kawika Ortiz, a couple of talented local guys playing some awesome island tunes. Nalu's is still the go-to place for great food, affordable options, and an authentic local vibe!

Yelp
This place is an iconic eatery of Kihei. We come here every month for the Maui pride monthly brunch and always have a great time with everyone that we see. The restaurant is very aloha casual and allows dogs which is great for locals. We love coming for the brunch like I said, but we also enjoy coming here for dinner And always have a good time. There's plenty of parking in the mall parking lot and sometimes there's even live music in the evenings. Definitely come check this place out!

Yelp
What a delightful treat ! It's always a great time here . Staff and service are amazing the vibe is always great. Food is great and that makes a good day

Yelp
This is our GO TO place. We love the food and the ambiance. Abhor the service. We end up here at least once a month. Sometimes more base on our volume of visitors! Love the cool vibe and local fare, music, happy hour, nightly specials and the crab cake everything! This would be a five star place except for the wait on line to order and prepay for your food. The food comes too fast if you want to hang out and have a drink before dinner. If there for happy hour, you need to go back outside and wait on line if you want another drink and pupu after your initial order. I find it awkward and off putting. Although this system probably uses less servers, it is why we don't go more often. It is also why 3 Yelp stars. The strategy of trying to procure bar seating is a challenge. There, you order and get served drinks and food.(what a concept) The $7 Happy Hour menu is delicious so we will continue going odd days and vying for a seat at the bar so we don't have to wait and wait and the go back and wait and wait again.

Yelp
The reviews looked promising so we decided to try it for our last night in town. They have you order and pay as you enter, there was huge line but it went quick we were seated in 25 minutes. We got the Apple Brie burger and a Cubano. The burger was a fusion of a few different flavors and was really good. The Cubano needs something, growing up in Florida this is a staple of good eating. They need a few pickles inside not a decoration on the top. They grilled the meat first, mine was burnt. No trace of mustard. A real Cuban is pressed to heat it all up. The live music was great. I would give it another try next time

Yelp
My favorite part of this establishment was the ambiance and service! While waiting in line we were offered a flavored water. We ordered at the counter and then got to find our own seats (if you pay cash I believe you avoid a surcharge because it was a few dollars cheaper when we said cash). We also arrived right at opening time and the manager (I assume) sang a lovely chant which was a very cool experience! The food was good. My husband got chicken and waffles. Mine is pictured below. The food had a unique flavoring (something like rosemary). I wasn't a huge fan, but it was still a yummy meal. But I'm not particularly interested in trying more off the menu. The staff was all amazing and friendly!

Yelp
When a local recommended this place for breakfast, I had to try it! The line was long as this place is apparently well known. The bartender, Kelly, then came out to the line and said there is no waiting if you would like to sit at the bar. Heck yeah!! There were just two of us and most of the people online had families and needed a table. The ambiance is casual and comfortable with great decorative surfboards and tiki setting decor. The TVs were showing a variety of shows including Moana (kids watching intently), surfing competitions, and sea turtles swimming slowly around. Now for the food. The menu is appealing. The special was Prime Rib/ scrambled egg/ Maui onion / Hertage onion and special sauce accomp by a delicious local, fresh salad. The fried chicken tenders and waffle was delicious with special flavored syrup and sprinkled sage bits over The plate. Delicious. I cannot wait to go to the happy hour for discounted drinks and special appetizers for $7 each.

Yelp
My absolute FAVORITE restaurant in Kihei!!! Every dish is thoughtfully created and prepared. Having been over a dozen times, I love when it seems you can't go wrong ordering anything on the menu. Black and Blue Ahi Benedict - our go-to breakfast choice. Perfectly seared mild cajun spiced rare ahi in true benny fashion. GET THIS!! 5+++++ stars!! Classic Loco Moco - from the grass fed beef to organic brown rice, this is Loco Moco at its best and now the only way I want to eat it. 5+++++ stars!! Pacific Mahi Mahi - moist, lightly breaded fish covered with mouthwatering Lillikoi-piccata sauce. Loved the nice artichokes, capers and fresh tomato. 5+++++ stars! Fish and Green Bean Fries - loved the creativity of the green bean fries. Hubby would had preferred regular fries but everything tasted great. The kale jalapeño side salad/slaw added a nice acid, sweetness and spice. 5 stars. Smash Meatball Teriyaki - kiddo and adult approved! They need an adult version of this...amazing teriyaki sauce and excellent quality beef. Rice was perfectly cooked too. Wish there was some veg, but for the value no complaints! 5++++++ stars!!! **Stopped through for Happy Hour and it was nice to have a smorgasbord of items. Everything seemed to be half orders of the usual item for half the price. No money saved but loved trying everything. We've already eaten here 3 times in the past week and can't get enough!

Yelp
The lobster roll here is good enough to make a grown woman weep. Seriously. Piles of sweet lobster sandwiched between a buttery loaf of what resembled more Texas toast than a traditional roll - absolutely divine. They really didn't skimp out on the lobster! The bed of arugula it was served on was also a very welcomed addition. This was hands down the best lobster roll of my life. Ok, enough about the lobster roll. We also tried the fish and chips, which were lightly battered and served with a perfectly balanced tartar sauce. We also enjoyed the beef short ribs, which were very flavourful and saucy but we just wished they were cut a little less thick. The Mac salad was similarly a huge winner among our group. This place offers counter service and our food came out incredibly quick at dinner time. We sat out on the patio and everyone who helped us was kind and courteous. Couldn't recommend this gem more! And if for some reason I didn't make myself clear, GET THE LOBSTER ROLL.

Emely A.

Yelp
Was looking for something to eat late at night and was happy to find this spot! The food was so good. I got a sandwich and short ribs. The service was great and so was the ambiance. There was live music. I would definitely come back here next time I'm in Maui.

Yelp
We had breakfast at Nalu's our first morning on the island which we throughly enjoyed. There is not a typical wait staff. You place your order and pay for your meal at the host stand. The coffee is self serve and if you order drinks you must pick them up at the bar. Full bar with incredible looking drinks. The Bloody Mary looks like a meal in itself; veggies including kimchee on a skewer in the drink. The hubby loves a good Loco Moco so he ordered the Classic Loco Moco. He was not disappointed. I had the Cornflake Crusted French Toast which was amazing. The French toast was made with thick slices of Hawaiian sweet bread with pineapple cream between the layers and topped with Mac nuts. Generous servings. The OJ was fresh squeezed. There is inside as well as outdoor seating. I can't wait to go back for more of the French toast

Yelp
Update Just ordered again . Delicious. Ordered 2 lobster rolls day after wasn't as Good. Seems to be a pattern. Occasionally it's really Great . Other times it's Mediocre. After Reading Rave Reviews for Lobster Roll was a little let down. Taste was average. Servers were sweet at the Bar. This is closest restaurant from My Air BnB .

Yelp
I only took one star off because we ordered drinks and we didnt know we were supposed to go up to the bar to pick it up. Otherwise it would of been 5 stars. We got our food and ate almost half and we both were like where is our drinks. I asked the lady for a tropical virgin drink and my partner got a coffee. I did not finish the drink it was way too sweet for me. I think it was the first drink on the alcohol menu just without the alcohol. So you line up and someone takes your order in the front. You are given a number and table. We picked this place because we saw adobo on one of the pictures with ube. Something different to try but they don't have that! The service was pretty quick and the lady was friendly at the front. My partner ordered the chicken and waffles she said she liked them. I'm picky when it comes to chicken and waffles. I thought it was okay I got the island pancakes. I really liked. I didn't use to much of the syrup. Then a small bowl of fruit that comes with fresh fruits, honey, yogurt! I should of just ordered the fresh fruit larger bowl that was so refreshing and delicious. The pancakes I got so full not even halfway through. It comes 3 stacked. It was a good price about $50 for everything . Good portions. We paid that for breakfast at a cafe place and paid over $50 for a lox bagel (barely call it lox) and French toast) with what looked like Mc Donald's style Mc muffin eggs. They did tell use the eggs were not fresh eggs... So this place had a better deal! And tasted better. They have water you get up to get yourself. Your drinks you pick up at the bar. The place is open all around. They had chickens that came in. They don't bother you just walk around. Place looks clean. The fruit bowl next time I will just order that for breakfast because of all the delicious fresh fruits they use.

Fish and Chips: Great, Classic with great dips Burgers: Cooked perfectly I dunno... we might have to come back before we leave the island! Great Ambiance, Great Food, Fast! Just hit the spot!

Yelp
(+) Island Style Ribs w/ Respect (+) Fish & Green Bean Fries Nalu's south shore grill is a restaurant that has patio like seating and great eats. It is in a shopping plaza off of Kihei Road and found in the back of the parking lot. There are many food items to order so bringing the family with many food cravings will be easy for all to find something they would enjoy. Online ordering is available. Food: My wife and I shared the island style ribs and fish and chips. I loved the kalbi style ribs because of how tender the beef is and how flavorful it was. The meat fell off the bone and easy to eat. The mac salad was decent. I also enjoyed the jasmine brown rice that soaked up all the sauce. The beer battered mahi mahi was also crunchy and flavorful. The green bean fries are also amazing! You have to try them. Service/ambiance: Service was great and no complaints here. The ambiance is casual and easy going. Overall, I would recommend Nalu's if you're looking for a quick bite to eat that makes great food. I will definitely be back to try the other Hawaiian specialties.

Yelp
Place was Amazing I got it confused with another place we tried almost 11 years ago on the island... But not sad I got my memories wrong... this place was OFF THE CHAIN GOOD!!!!! I highly recommend if you're in Kihei or anywhere on the island of Maui, that you make one of your breakfasts here for your stay. Everything was tasty....

Yelp
First place to eat in Maui when we arrived, and will say it did not disappoint! Yes the portions are small but these were all appetizers and for $7 each during happy hour its a good deal. Food was definitely delicious for the price we paid, and the atmosphere is casual inside. They have outdoor seating or indoor and inside its all open aired!

Yelp
Unassuming spot with beach bar vibes, located on a strip mall. Great, hearty portions. Drinks - Mai Tai ($8.5 for HH, $10 normally) was so yummy. Food - Loco Moco ($15) - Large and delicious, though my sister commented the beef was a bit dry and it could have used more gravy. Chicken and Waffles ($18) - Can't go wrong with this. The fried chicken on top is in tender form, and the bacon was lovely, thick, and crispy fried. Mahi Mahi ($22) - I'd skip this compared to the other dishes. It's nice and light though Order at counter, then grab a seat. Staff is so cool and friendly too!

Yelp
We did take out breakfast as we were just feeling a lazy time Ordering was easy online and pickup was quick with our order being ready on time When we got there, it was crowded so that was a good sign of the food quality. We had the eggs and potatoes and the eggs bacon and potatoes meals. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the potatoes were very good. The bacon was really nice and crispy. The prices were quite reasonable as well. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Yelp
Had such a lovely brunch here today!! Each dish we ordered was delightful. Specifically we had the crab cake BLT, acai bowl and pitaya bowl. We also loved the paradise dream drink! The seating inside and outside has a nice ambiance. In the past we have had eggs benedict, loco moco and many other options- all have been fabulous. You purchase your meal before sitting so no server!

Yelp
Absolute banger in paradise!! I came here with my family during my vacation in Maui and this was easily one of my favorite restaurants I've stumbled onto more recently. Once I arrived at the restaurant, the hostess had me place my order with them first before they seated me. The interior of the restaurant was beautiful. It was a sleek, modern restaurant with a lot of windows and openings to the warm Hawaii air. Everyone that was at the restaurant seemed happy, both young adults and families came here. The food that we ordered truly was the center of attention. Because I was really hungry, I had the Poke Bowl, the Classic Loco Moco, and Nalu's Mai Tai. All of them were just as equally good as the other. The poke was easily one of the freshest raw fish I've ever had, and it tasted much better once I mixed it with the avocado and all the fresh ingredients that came along with it. I was still hungry so I got the Loco Moco. I love how I was able to choose how I wanted both my eggs and beef patty to be cooked, I personally got sunny side up and then medium rare, respectively. The portion and quality of the food were very high and I really wish I could come back here just to have it again. To top it all off, Nalu's Mai Tai has been the best cocktail I've ever had. It has a delicate balance between the alcohol and the sweetness of the drink, they added nut foam to the drink to make it sweeter. I could go on and on about this place but I'm going to end it with this: you have to give Nalu's South Shore Grill a try if you're ever in Maui. It's 100% guaranteed you'll enjoy your experience!

Yelp
We were craving for some local food options at around 8 pm when most of the restaurants were about to get shut in Wailea area. A local recommended we try out the Nalu's which luckily for us was open till 10 pm. We get here and were surprised to see a queue of about 8-9 groups to get inside and we quickly joined. So the way it works here is - they make you order your entire food before you step in inside the restaurant. I politely checked with the hostess if I need to stand in a big queue again if I would like to add more food or an appetizer midway through the meal and to my shock the answer was - YES. So we ended up over ordering a bit to avoid a situation where we have to line up again for a bite midway through our meal. The food and drinks were good. Poke Bowl was infused with flavors and fresh poke. Lobster sandwich hit the mark. Ribs was delicious but meat quality could have been better. We didn't try the desserts.

Yelp
We waited about forty minutes on the line for a table on Saturday night just after 630. It's hot in Hawaii so I was waiting for a cold drink. Disappointing, I had the Lilikoy iced tea and the tea was old. I tried a regular tea just in case it was the added syrup, but it was the tea. It tasted like the tea sat overnight and a funny taste developed. We were not off to a good start. The music was live authentic Hawaiian music, beautiful to listen to. Some a little more upbeat and others a little slower, the right pace for dinner. We had the fish and chips equivalent, the fired fish and fried green beans. I was surprised at home much I like the fried green beans, delicious. The fish was some of the best fried fish I've eaten in a long time. The other dish was Loco Moco. The Loco Moco had better quality beef and taste than the average. Overall the Loco Moco was just average though. A. One nice touch was the flavored water! Pros- The bathrooms were clean, the music was live, seating was open to the outside, bar inside. Cons- service is slow, if you want water you serve yourself (either flavored or not), food is a little better than average.

Yelp
Came here per recommendation from different friends who frequent Maui. Come to Nalu's they said. So we came to try it. Great recommendation! Lively atmosphere and fun place to hang. You can eat, drink and enjoy the live music. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. We ordered: Fish and Green Bean Fries - the fish is Mahi Mahi. They were crispy and not greasy. The green beans were surprisingly good. I didn't know what to expect. Apple and Brie Burger - huge, meaty patty with an amazing combo of apple and Brie. Fries were good! Poke Bowl - fresh ahi tuna and the dressing and other ingredients were spot on. If in Maui, this is a great stop.

Yelp
Local joint with delicious food, laid back atmosphere, but no changing table for babies in the bathroom. In a very casual style, you pretty much do everything for yourself here except cook your breakfast... You wait in line for a table, regardless of party size, order with the hostess, bus your own utensils and cups to a table (good luck finding one if you're here at crunch time, with a large party, or babies and small children), and you even have to serve your own coffee and juice. The food is amazing and delicious and is the only reason to come here - the full bar is a good reason too. We ordered the Kahuna Omelet, which is an East meets west of flavors and even has rice in it. The chicken and waffle have great flavors and crispy fried chicken fingers. The problem is that the fingers are kid sized, and you only get three?? Why?? There's no scarcity of chickens on the island. They pretty much run loose everywhere, even here. Just fry them up and give us a good portion, for goodness sake. Minus one star for being tight with an infinite island resource. I will definitely be back to try lunch or dinner. The long lines and good reviews are not mistaken.

Yelp
Rolled up on this gem tucked inside a shopping center. You order at the front then take your seat. Lots of seating indoor and out. Note drinks must be picked up at the bar. We ordered and sat down. We had our food within 10 minutes. Furikake potatoes were incredible. Tried the island pancakes and they also did not disappoint. Plenty of parking and kid friendly.

Yelp
1st night in Maui. Nice restaurant with a chill vibe. We had crabcake, ono dinner special, fish and green bean fries and ahi club. All was tasty. Nice live music and very festive Christmas decorations.

Yelp
We were very surprised to have this find. Nalu's is a very great spot for happy hour! You order at the front before entering the restaurant which is unexpected, since it isn't stated until you get to the hostess stand where you order. A sign could be very helpful, along with menus scattered along the counter that is parallel to the line up area. The restaurant is completely open air with tables on the patio and many more tables inside. Classic Hawaiian vibe while being a nice sit down restaurant. The happy hour mai thais were phenomenal and very strong. The flavor was also very good with quality rums. The food was also VERY good. I got the Korean Bulgogi Burger which was out of this world! One of the best burgers I have ever had. My husband got the loco moco which was also good but not nearly as phenomenal as mine lol. Overall, wonderful drinks for happy hour and a great main menu for bites. Also has setup for live music which seemed to be just starting as we were leaving.

Yelp
Everything about Nalu's was perfect. It had such good food, fast service, live music, and my partner and I had a great dinner. We had to wait in line for about twenty minutes before ordering. You order first and then get a number to sit at any free table. We didn't have to wait too long until the rest of the food came out. They were all so delicious! The poke nachos were crispy and refreshing. No chip was too soggy or oily, and I really like the poke combination. The volcano fries were also really good with the spicy mayo and furikake. The Classic Loco Moco with over easy eggs had such a good ratio between egg, meat, and rice. The gravy was creamy and tied everything together. I also really liked how fluffy the rice and juicy the patty was. The Island Ribs were also super flavorful. One of the best galbi I have ever had. It was charred well and very generously sized. All of the portion sizes were massive! I'm so happy we were able to try here!

Yelp
We met friends for lunch. Nalu's is in a strip mall in Kihei, Maui. Parking is easy. They have take out but we came and sat in a covered open patio. I ordered the roasted root vegetable quinoa bowl. It was very good. One slight criticism is that I would have preferred more vegetables and less quinoa. One friend ordered the Nalu's raw salad with seared ahi. Excellent. My other friend ordered the Pacific Mahi Mahi with brown rice and salad. Also excellent. My husband ordered the Ahi club with seared rare tuna and bacon. Another winner. Service was good and attentive. Overall it was a great luncheon catching up with old friends. Only downside was the location. We were staying in Kapalua, a one hour ride.

Yelp
While it seemed a bit odd to line up outside, place our order then seat ourselves, it is Maui and the weather was fantastic. Everyone we interacted with was nice and very helpful. The food, the real reason you come to yelp after all, was fantastic! I had the Classic Loco Moco was amazing! The jasmine rice was perfect. The mushroom gravy was full of flavor and the eggs and meat were cooled perfectly. My wife had corn flake crusted French toast which she stated was the best she ever had! When we asked if they would be open on Christmas the response was, "we will always be open for our community. See you tomorrow". We will be back on this trip and again on our next trip to Kihei.

Yelp
We must've passed by this place a dozen times before we decided to finally try them out. Glad we did too... Besides having a very friendly atmosphere (we even chatted up some of the locals- rare for us), we had some excellent drinks and a very tasty short rib entree from here. I'd say don't pass them up if you're in the area. They're definitely worth a try or two.

Yelp
This place has awesome people working there. Great ambiance and food. I ordered the loco moco and its a big serving. Order first on the outside line and then sitdown at your table and get your food.
