Nam Kee Chicken Rice – Singapore We had an amazing experience at Nam Kee Chicken Rice! We ordered the fried chicken and chicken rice, and both were absolutely fantastic — delicious, flavorful, and just like the classic old-school taste. No wonder this restaurant is top-rated! The service was fast, and the food was served fresh and piping hot. We dined in with my husband, and everything we tried was tasty and satisfying. We also ordered delivery from this restaurant, and even the delivery person commented that the aroma of the chicken made him hungry and that he would order from Nam Kee himself! Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic, delicious chicken rice in Singapore.

Fuss-free and delicious chicken rice in an old-school vibe setting. Initial seating experience was pretty weird, was shoo-ed out fairly curtly to wait for seats (as it seems we cannot wait inside) despite the restaurant not being that packed. Same lady told a family of 4 they cannot take a bigger round table because that was “for 5 people”. Same lady again told us we can consider quarter instead of half chicken when I asked to order individual portions as me and my partner both wanted breast meat. Luckily the other lady who took our order was more flexible. Once ordered, food was served briskly and everything tasted delicious in a simple way. Cannot go wrong with chicken rice I guess. Challenging to park around Upper Thomson on a Sat evening so we slotted ourselves along the terrace houses quite a walk away.

Old school chicken rice with a lot of other dishes to choose from. Ordered quarter chicken, pork chop, gizzard, liver and fish maw soup. Dishes are all not bad. But not the best chicken rice I’ve eaten. Service was fast and friendly. Though the staff didn’t stop us from over ordering.

Food hunt at Upper Thomson today. Nam Kee Chicken Rice - Since 1968. One of the SG heritage chicken rice restaurants, the restaurant still has the old school eatery setting, and a retro orange color coin telephone at the counter. The steam white chicken meat is so tender and flavorful , the skin also very tasty. $18 half chicken is quite a good deal, no service charge and gst. Chili, rice so-so. Hainanese pork chop quite disappointing, can skip. Wall down the street, there is a retro Yi Jia bakery that you can dine in. The Kopi is cheap and I had a Black Forest cake for dessert. #chickenrice #鸡饭 #sgfood #singapore

We ordered half steamed chicken with rice, hainanese pork chop, kangkong, sambal sotong, ginger sliced fish and some drinks The steamed chicken was very tender but the hainanese pork chop and sambal sotong was everyone’s favourite dishes. The ginger fish was not as fresh as hoped sadly but overall the food at Nam Kee was awesome. Have plans to revisit for other dishes One thing about the service was that it was prompt and friendly but two items were misordered. Teh si peng had no peng and our garlic kang long became sambal. We didn’t make a fuss cos we were hungry but I know i was clear on my order so i don’t know why it was not heard correctly. The place was so nostalgic and i love how it just looks like it did back in my mum’s time. Hope they never change anything ever.

Ordered 1/4 chicken lower quarter for $14. Gizzard $2. Garlic kang kong for $10. There is a 9% GST on top of that. Chicken are moist and tasty. The gravy coated the chicken giving it a unique taste. Most part of the chicken was also very tender. Gizzard was average. Soup okay. Not much msg if any. Kang kong was sooo expensive. If i upsize it is even more expensive than the chicken. But man this is probably one of the best Kang kong i had. The wok hei was very pronounce, all in all very tasty and without msg. Just wish they served more or cheaper. It was sooo good.

Went on 10 May and again later, Service was great both occasions. The luo han guo drink is nice, me and friend each ordered 2 to 3 drinks each. Photos taken on 10 May. The other visit, did not take photo, fish maw soup and roasted chicken not so nice, the green vegetable was okay in 2nd visit. The steam (white) chicken and dishes ordered on 10 May was very tender. Chili and ginger sause a bit watery for my liking. Like the old school setting.

Came for an early dinner at 5.30pm. Place was empty except of a couple of tables. Ordered 4 recommendations- Steamed Half Chicken, Sambal Kangkong, Braised homemade tofu with seafood and Homemade prawn roll. As pointed out in other posts, service was mediocre. At least 2 staff in dining area with no guests to serve, yet it was hard to get their attention. Even after getting a staff’s attention (he nodded in response), he did not come over but instead went to sit down at an empty dining table to do food preparations. We had to get another staff that was more keen to serve takeaways. Chicken rice was fragrant and had a good firm texture. The steamed chicken was above average - fleshy, lean skin. Prawn roll was great! not too oily, had a good bite and tasty. Sambal Kangkong was nicely done - tender and balanced sambal chili. Braised homemade tofu “with seafood” was a total let down - bland, came without seafood, and with green broccoli that were yellowish.
