Name’s on the Way, a New Supper Club, Lands in the Plateau | Eater Montreal

"Tucked in the thick of the Plateau, I visited Name’s on the Way, a new dinner-and-drinks haunt that opened just shy of a month ago and bills itself as a “modern-day hipster supper club.” The name began as a working title among partners and stuck; the team includes co-owner Peter Mant (Apt.200, Suwu, Ecole Privée), Phil Allard-Riendeau, Alex Besnard and Pat Hetu (both from A5 hospitality), and chef Robin Filteau Boucher. It's a nighttime affair fuelled by DJ sets and seasonal sharing plates that currently feature asparagus in a Bearnaise-style sauce, grilled cucumber with ricotta scoops and leeks, beef carpaccio with artichoke crisps, and a creamy rapini pasta. The drinks program leans natural and convivial, with a robust natural wine list, white and red sangrias, and a cocktail menu stacked with herby, fruit-filled concoctions. The 75-seat space keeps the structural layout and bright whites of the previous occupant but has removed boho markers like rattan seating and tropical prints for design touches suited to its nocturnal focus, and the team plans occasional pop-up brunches. Name’s on the Way is open Wednesday to Saturday from 5 p.m. to midnight at 500 Rachel East." - Valerie Silva

Excellent experience at Name’s. The staff were so responsive, professional, and friendly. Tommy did such an excellent job as our bartender. The food and cocktails were high-quality (especially the special, the pappardelle), and the music cultivated a very chill and easygoing vibe. Would absolutely return when we visit Montreal again!

Really nice experience, just the cocktails weren’t that good tbh! The food is superrr nice but a bit overpriced for the portion! We were there a Thursday night and really loud, people were screaming.

Really cute environment for a birthday party or catching up with friends. However, the food is not its highlight. The martinis were excellent at 7$ each on Thursdays. We enjoyed the beef tartare and the arrosticinis. The focaccia is delicious - we ordered it 2x. The poireaux was good too but a very small portion. The salade fraîche was ok and the Crudo was too fishy for my taste.

The atmosphere inside was amazing! It would be a perfect spot for a girls’ night out. The servers were great too. I took off one star because the cocktails were disappointing and there was an unpleasant smell inside 😅

I have to give the food a 5 star. Honestly I went to Names at the beginning of the summer and I haven't stopped raving about how great it was. We had the entrecôte, osso bucco, Asparagus and a few more appetizers. We also order two bottles of wine and it came up to around 350$. We found that to be a great price since we were a group of three people. The ambiance was really cool, very much a neighbourhood vibe. It's a great place to bring friends or family visiting the city! Can't wait to go back 😊

Love this place! Beautiful little restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. Good service and friendly staff. Food and drinks were delicious. I highly recommend the braised beef cavatelli! Definitely will be back, probably on a Thursday night for their 7$ martinis:)

Must-visit Montréal restaurant. My wife and I are visiting from Florida and visited Name’s On The Way for dinner our second night in town. The restaurant is in a beautiful, clean area, and when we arrived at around 7:30 on a Saturday evening we felt as if we struck gold as it was not yet slammed. Our waiter, Carlo, was incredibly personable and helped us pick out an excellent red wine and meal sequence for the night. My wife and I shared Jalapeño Popper, Sourdough Oysters, Spicy Honey Wings, and closed the meal with the Lemon Pound Cake. Every item we had was executed in such a unique and complementary way that helped move the meal forward. My wife and I agreed that the Poppers, Wings, and Pound Cake were of particular note. Throughout the night, we interacted with Carlo and the GM, Dominic, and I can confidently say there’s not been many times I’ve been to a restaurant and felt so welcomed by the staff and environment. The space was incredibly comfortable and thoughtfully designed, and the entire staff (namely Carlo and Dominic) set a new standard for what hospitality looks like in a restaurant setting. From my understanding N.O.T.W. is more known for their bar and late night scene, but it won’t be like that for long. Their dinner program is a force to be reckoned with!

I visited this restaurant recently and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. The service felt very arrogant, and there was a promotion advertised, but we were told we had to order food for it to apply, something that was not mentioned anywhere on their website. We decided to order anyway, but the food was extremely disappointing: poor taste and very overpriced for the quality. The overall atmosphere also wasn’t. Definitely not worth the hype.
