Food is great! Everything was prepared while we waited, it was fresh and tasty. It will take time to get your order since it is prepared from scratch. Service is unobtrusive, helpful and fast. I would recommend making a reservation, especially for a larger group, since the place seems to be filling up fast - especially on the weekends. There is no free parking - your options are paid street parking or commercial parking structure - few within walking distance from the restaurant.

We came early and restaurant was almost empty. I did not care much for appetizers. Flavor was not there for me. Most of the dinner I was struggling to get a plastic out of temaki. It was not cooperating and my wife was helping me out….. annoying. My wife loved the place and I didn’t.

I’ve been to NYC location many times before I moved to Jersey and this is my first time in this location. Everything was amazing and no different between both locations, caviar service was absolute fantastic my most favorite bite. All the hand rolls were excellent and the service was top notch. Will definitely be back, hands down!!

I don’t like to leave low reviews, but I feel that Nami Nori has potential and can definitely improve in several areas. I arrived with high hopes after hearing rave reviews about their sushi offerings, but my excitement quickly turned to disappointment when I tried their Tuna Dip, which was a mixed bag of flavors that left much to be desired. To start, the presentation of the Tuna Dip with little chips that came with it was rather underwhelming. It looked more like pure Sriracha than a thoughtfully crafted sauce, lacking the creativity and finesse I expected from a sushi restaurant of this caliber. A little twist on the sauce could elevate the dish tremendously—perhaps a citrus-infused aioli or a tangy ponzu would have added a refreshing flair. Moving on to the Temaki, I found that not only did the flavor profiles fall short, but the prices were also hard to justify given the portion sizes. For the amount spent, I expected a more satisfying meal, but I walked out feeling hungry and a bit regretful about my lunch choice. A sprinkle of unique dipping sauces or a creative twist on traditional flavors could transform these offerings into something truly memorable. Additionally, I must mention the seating arrangements. The wooden backs of the chairs were uncomfortably rigid, and my back was practically begging for support. A simple addition of cushions could turn a dining experience from discomfort into delight, allowing guests to linger longer and enjoy their meal. I also ordered a drink which I thought was good but was full of ice and the size was too small for the price. Overall, my experience at Nami Nori was a letdown. With uninspired flavors, lackluster presentation, and uncomfortably rigid seating, it fell short of the expectations set by its reputation. I believe there’s potential here, but they need to spice things up—both on the plate and in the dining atmosphere. Until then, I’d recommend exploring other options on the menu or even giving this place a little time to refine its offerings.

Great maki spot in nice modern settings. When I tried Nami Nori in Manhattan, food was too salty, but everything in this location was better. They are good at frying stuff - crispy and chewy fried skin was so good. Get Mochurros for dessert.

Google
I would go back and have the same exact things again because of how good everything was, but also want to go back to try everything else on the menu. We had the strawberry sting and a green tea for drinks. For apps we did spicy tuna dip, tempura misto, and ocean trout sashimi. Then we split 5 temaki: coconut shrimp, spicy lobster, salmon avocado with ikura, spicy tuna, and spicy crab dynamite. For dessert we had the mochurros.

Google
Absolutely amazing every single time! The staff is so friendly and welcoming and the food is always delicious and it’s presentation is very nice too!! Oddly enough I’m not even a big fan of seafood and don’t have a taste for sushi, but decided to try this place out months ago in attempt to expand my palate and couldn’t stop coming back! My boyfriend and I visit this establishment at least a couple times a month and always have a blast. My go-to three are the “spicy lobster”, “coconut shrimp”, and “spicy crab dynamite” which are all equally flavorful and mouthwatering. My boyfriend has tried a pretty big portion of the menu and so far his favorites are the “aka ebi”, “x.o. scallop”, and “spicy lobster”. The shishito peppers and the spicy tuna dip as appetizers and the churros for dessert are a must! I love everything about this place! I had my 22nd birthday dinner here with a few friends and my boyfriend plans on celebrating his here as well!

Google
This was my second time eating at this location and it was even better than I remember the first time. Everything is so fresh and the menu always has some unique seasonal items and great starters/desserts. Obviously the temaki sets are the star of the show, and what is great is you can order them as sets or individually. They also have a great number of vegetarian options as well so there is truly something for everyone, even if you don’t prefer the fish options. The tuna crudo never disappoints, the seasonal fluke ceviche was amazing in flavor and presentation, and the corn ribs and shishito peppers were a great break-up between courses. I did not photograph our temaki sets this time so I’m sharing photos from the first time we ate at this location, since we ordered pretty much the same items. I highly recommend this place for a date night, girls dinner, or any special occasion. The presentation, service, and food really make this place a standout! I can’t wait to go back.

Yelp
What a fun experience! Great ambiance. Delicious, creative food. Friendly servers. I enjoyed the vegan set of temaki. Would order again: Avocado toast (my favorite), sweet potato (loved it), eggplant (liked it) Would not care to order again: tofu (not a fan of tofu), black sesame (sauce way too salty)

Yelp
A may be a little biased since a dear friend works here, but their Signaure Tamaki was a great introduction to this style of Japanese cuisine. Tables get packed fast so make sure you make your reservation on time, and take into account Montclair parking lol. Beginning the night with their sashimi and crudo was the right call, much respect to our waitress Thank you Andru for the caviar to top the night off, proud of you bud!

Yelp
Had an evening to myself so I wanted to try a new restaurant a little outside my area and came across this spot. I was seated at the counter and while in the restroom I came back to my wine having been opened and presented in an ice bucket. From there my waiter came over and explained how the menu worked. I knew I wanted to try an assortment along with a side or two. The gentleman next to me was having the potato salad so I asked and he said it was outstanding. I went with that along with the Signature Set and would go from there if I wanted more. I was served the potato salad first as the hand rolls were being constructed and served one by one. The man was right, this potato salad was very, very good, much creamier than I normally would have it but tasted fantastic. I took bites throughout the meal because the sushi was my main focus. The hand roll started coming, two biters, and they were mind blowingly good. I would say it took between 5-8 minutes in between rolls since he was also making them for the four people next to me, the timing was really good in between. The fish was so fresh, the flavors were outstanding and the textures were all there. At the end I decided to go for one more roll, the spicy tuna and that also did not disappoint. I was shocked that this entire entire meal cost $60 with tax AND tip. This is one of the best sushi experiences I've had and definitely returning with friends. The space is so pretty and clean, a beautiful and relaxing environment. The staff is super friendly too. It is literally across the entrance from the Wellmont Theatre so an absolute gem of a dinner spot if you are going to a show but budget at least two hours so you don't rush this experience.

Yelp
Came with a friend on a late Saturday night and was seated promptly after a 25 minute wait. We ordered quickly as we were starving. We both agreed we would definitely be back to try the other food options as we enjoyed our hand rolls so much. The crisp seaweed was a delight and a great touch. Since it was a chilly night, the clam miso soup really hit the spot and I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked it! Will definitely return and glad to see Nami Nori in NJ.

Yelp
The moment I stepped into Nami Nori, I was impressed by the gorgeous interior. The windows along the walls allowed for natural sunlight to light up the restaurant, and the minimalist, modern furniture and table settings complemented the warm lighting and made for a clean, open look. Our server was very helpful and welcoming. He provided recommendations and even shared his personal favorites. I ordered the signature set (tuna poke, x.o. scallop, coconut shrimp, salmon serrano, and cucumber black sesame). Each temaki was beautifully garnished and packed w/ flavor. They were all so delicious, but my favorites were the tuna poke, x.o. scallop, and salmon serrano. If you're willing to pay the extra money for the cool experience and meal, I definitely recommend.

Yelp
See, I'm not the world's biggest fan of sushi, but I am a fan of any chef who can turn a non fan, into a returning customer . That's exactly what has happened to me. Before this experience I was anti sushi , I have had good rolls but nothing that changed my life. Until, I was brought to Nani Nora. Of course not being a fan of sushi I was expecting an underwhelming meal but I was gladly and sadly mistaken. I can now say I am a full fan of sushi. The chef that was putting together our rolls was fantastic. The Midas touch if I have to say. I would tell Michelin that he/they deserve a star immediately. That's how good it was. Especially the fried oyster. Now I know a lot of things taste better fried but this and all of its elements were 10/10. Every ingredient was fresh, cooked to its perfection , and handled with care. The ambiance was great, very close and romantic. A great date night spot or a night out with friends/family. Would recommend to any lover of sushi. Will definitely continue to come back. (The churros and the yuzu cream were the best churros I've ever had!)

Yelp
The perfect sushi spot. Chic ambiance and vibes. Anything on the menu is a hit. The signature set is perfection and my fav temaki set. A Montclair MUST!

Yelp
My friend and I came here on a Thursday after work and there was ample seating available. We did make a resy beforehand just in case but it didn't seem necessary. The staff were very friendly and attentive. One thing I would say is that I did not like them coming to the table every 5 minutes to clear things. It is a byob spot so that was nice. Both of us did our own custom sets and it was decent sized portions. We tried the fluke ceviche summer special and it was really good! Overall it was a nice experience and would go back.

Yelp
I decided to visit this location after having a great experience at Nami Nori on Carmine Street in New York City. I loved the ambiance, service, and especially the food--particularly the hand rolls, which were delicious. The ambiance in Montclair is quite similar to that of the New York location, but I found the food quality, preparation, and service here to be lacking and this place also does not have cocktails.

Yelp
We had a show to watch at the Wellmont theater right next to Nami Nori so this was the perfect place for our pre show meal. Unfortunately, there was nothing available only to book for a table for 5, but I saw that I was able to book for table for 2 or 3. So I called the restaurant to ask if there's any possibilities to squeeze us in and they were so nice and understanding and made it work for us! Their customer service was way above and beyond! It's a small restaurant with 2 counter seating where you can watch the chefs as they prepare for your food. We sat at the table service since we have a large party and the seats were comfortable. We ordered the spicy tuna dip and enjoyed it very much. The chips are light and the tuna was seasoned well. They specialize in hand rolls and I ordered a la carte since there's specific items I want to try. The eggplant was marinated with red miso and paired with gobo chips to give it some texture. The uni was fresh and creaming and didn't need anything else to steal their spotlight. I also really enjoyed the fried oyster, which was perfectly fried and didn't feel oily at all. I love how it was paired with ume pickled onions to balance out the grease. The ebi was big and very refreshing together with the yuzu kosho soy sauce. Last but not least, I ordered the toro which is classically paired with scallions. I enjoyed every single one of the hand rolls. Ingredients were fresh and packed with flavors. Service could be a little faster as we waited awhile for our food to come out but overall, we had a good experience and would come back.

Yelp
Excellent sushi, great vegetarian hand rolls as well. Really enjoyed the mushroom dip. Good idea to make a reservation and they were quite full when we went. Highly recommend and can't wait to go back

Yelp
So glad we finally have this in Montclair!! We sat at the bar so we got everything fresh! The seafood was so fresh and the flavor of each roll was so unique. The combination of ingredients was surprising but delicious. Love this place for good sushi and a light meal!

Yelp
Came here for Valentines day in February at their Montclair location and everything was excellent! The ambience is very minimalist and clean looking and there is plenty of space to fill the room without making it feel crowded. I would love to try their locations in the West Village and Williamsburg! The food was honestly better than anticipated. A very unique way to open up the rolls and eat them, my favorites were the everything smoked salmon (pictured) and the coconut shrimp was an unexpected hit (not pictured because it didn't last long) Bonus that we wanted to move up our reservation on one of the busiest days on the year and they didn't charge us extra or any cancellation fee!
google avatar

Aysha A.

Yelp
Very delicious meal and great options of cocktails and soft drinks, I wanted to try literally everything on this menu! The service is friendly and helpful when it comes to suggestions and ordering. The thing about this location even though it's a great space is that the seating is really tight. Very little room between tables and you basically feel like you're on top of the people next to you and are hearing everyone's conversations! The spicy crab was probably my favorite item as well as the coconut shrimp and tuna poke. Everything is seasoned to perfection so you can see why they forgo offering any wasabi or soy sauce at your table.
google avatar

Yelp
I really enjoy this spot; it's one of my favorite spots to go to in Montclair. I would highly recommend a reservation as they seem to be mainly reservations so hard to walk-in and get good seating. When I stopped by, I was able to be seated outside and the weather was fairly decent at the time...just a bit warmer. The food here is wonderful and just the right amount if you order the sets. I'll probably go with my own selection next time but the sets are a great way to be introduced to the food. Awesome service, awesome food, awesome place.

Yelp
Took myself out to lunch here after having it bookmarked for so long. I was able to grab a seat at the bar, while it wasn't too busy. As a first timer, I wanted to try the basics so I started with the raspberry moon mocktail, not only beautiful but delicious. I proceeded with the asari clam soup, not what I expected but yummy and comforting non-the less. Of course, I had to go with the signature set and I was skeptical about 1 or 2 of the options but decided to go for it. Tuna poke, scallop, coconut shrimp (delicious!) salmon and cucumber. Surprisingly, the cucumber with shiso & plum was so good, don't count it out just because it's just vegetables. I also ordered the oyster as an extra because it looked so good and it did not disappoint. Everything was very good, good quality and good service. My bill was $70 for 1 person though and that's kinda crazy. But I get it, quality equals money.

Yelp
After months of anticipation, I checked this spot out with a group for a Saturday night late dinner. The place is clean and bright. We had a reservation at the bar so we got to see the temaki rolls being prepared and served individually to us. Highly worth it! We did try a bunch of apps: shishito peppers, tuna crudo, and all 3 of the rice chips/dips. The best were the tuna crudo app (so fresh!) and the mushroom dip (also so fresh and flavorful). I tried the Signature set of 5 temaki rolls for $32. Great flavors and combination of flavors but most importantly, each dish was fresher than the next. They know how to prepare fish and with the almost taco like serving - you get a good portion of fish in each bite. The negative is it is PRICEY! At least it's BYOB.

Yelp
Nami Nori West Village was a favorite spot of mine for years, and I'm so happy they opened one in NJ for when I'm in my hometown and craving it! The restaurant is spacious and cozy, with a mix of table seating and bar seating. Highly recommend making a reservation especially for dinner, since they get pretty busy. All the appetizers were so good - my favorite was definitely the corn ribs. Such a simple concept but the execution and flavor profile were exquisite. I always choose to build my own set of 5 temaki when I come here, but they do have set menu options which is good if you can't decide on what you want. My favorites are the fried oyster, spicy crab dynamite, and scallop.
google avatar

Ingrid G.

Yelp
The food was delicious. We had started with the tuna Crudo:fried capers, myoga, red onion, radish sprouts, bonito soy and the Asari Clam soup : miso, butter, potato, clams =. 10/10 Then we moved to the signature set: tuna poke-crispy shallots, x.o. scallop- tobiko &lemon, coconut shrimp- green curry& lime& cilantro, salmon serrano- ginger&myoga& tosazu, cucumber black sesame- shiso&plum. 9/10 We added the spicy lobster- butter poached&tobiko& shiso& crispy potato. The chef recommended we ate it in a certain order. It was such a wonderful experience. The decor and ambiance was calm and chic. Loved the simple white and wood. We called asking if we need reservations and they said no, but then we were told we could only sit at certain seats and had to be done at a certain time. But overall worth it.

Yelp
Always an all around wonderful experience at Nami Nori! I've come a few times since the grand opening and let me just say each time is more enjoyable than the last. I usually like to pick up a nice bottle of sake on the way to help compliment the wonderful flavors that the chefs put together. Even though Nami Nori is BYOB, the mocktails are all really flavorful. On our most recent visit, we started with the Tempura Misto, Mushroom Dip, and Spicy Tuna Dip. The Tempura Misto wasn't on the menu on our previous visits but let me just say, it was one of my favorites that night. The tempura has a great texture and the sauce was really complimentary. The Mushroom Dip and Spicy Tuna Dip are must gets. The chips are light and airy and I just can't get enough of the umami filled dips. For the temaki, I got the X.O. Scallop, Uni, Toro & Scallion, Spicy Crab Dynamite, and Tuna & Cucumber. The seafood is always so fresh and I appreciate that the sauces are more than enough on its own (no soy sauce allowed!). I love celebrating milestones here and will keep on coming back!
google avatar

Micah J.

Yelp
I recently went back to Nami Nori to give it a second chance and what can I say, it did not disappoint! Everything was flavorful and fresh. I tried the tempura Misto which was amazing and fried to perfection. The rolls I tried that were amazingggg were the xo scallop, tuna poke, spicy lobster, coconut shrimp and spicy tuna. I will definitely be back! 10/10

Yelp
Located on busy Bloomfield Ave, Nami Nori is the quiet in the storm. The interior is very beige, but it's the food that is meant to shine. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I dined alone, at lunch, and sat at the counter. The seating was very comfortable. I did not opt for the lunch special, because I really wanted a full experience. They have some fun non alcoholic drink options (it's BYOB). I had a fall special which was Asian pear, rosemary, cardamom, and ginger beer. Absolutely delicious! For my food order: Fall Special- Cream of Matsutake Mushroom Soup w/ Chive Oil- the texture was a bit too thick, but had wonderful umami flavor Temakis- Ocean Perch, XO Scallop, Uni, Lobster, and Shrimp - these were all exceptionally beautiful and delicious. The scallop might have been my favorite. Delicate, sweet, perfect! Also, the Uni was divine. Dessert- Fall Special Apple and Persimmon Crisp - I love persimmons and they are woefully under utilized. This dessert was a dream. Perfect level of sweetness. Gorgeous fruit cooked just right, with little crispy crunchies, topped with pillowy whipped cream. Paired this with a Matcha Latte. Overall, this was a wonderful dining experience and I cannot wait to return.
google avatar

Helen Z.

Yelp
So I came back mostly for the uni but also got an xo scallop and both were absolutely delicious. I think ordering a la carte is the way to go here. The Hokkaido uni was pricy but mostly worth the high price tag, probably one of the best freshest uni bites I've had. I also got the miso chocolate chip cookies which were just alright, I enjoyed them but ended up getting a chocolate chip cookie from jayce baudry down the street which was more my style in terms of taste and gooey texture. I would come back and splurge on small expensive bites but maybe not a full meal.

Yelp
I'm on the fence about a 3 or 4 star, but the fact that my husband is asking to go back makes me lean on the 4 star side. Definitely a popular spot! We had a 6:30 reservation on a Tuesday and it was fully packed with not an empty seat at the bars or on the floor. Our host and waiter were fantastic! Sitting at the bar we were in front of the person preparing us our temaki; I had to ask 3 times for what temaki I was being handed me, and most of the times I didn't even hear what it was. I wasn't too blown away by the sushi..I guess I was expecting more of a punch in flavor/freshness since the ambience of the restaurant is VERY nice. Probably will be back because my husband will want to be back but as someone who gets sushi often I'm just okay with saying I've been to Nami nori

Yelp
AMBIENCE: (5/5) - Elegant & minimalistic, illuminated with a welcoming white glow of lights. Emanates modern Japanese style architecture - Clean yet warm style SERVICE: (5/5) - Waiter was great, very welcoming & greeted with a smile. Introduced us the menu for those who are first-timers - Food came quickly even though we were a larger party - They have little plastic wrappers around the seaweed that wraps each roll so it keeps the seaweed fresh without getting soaked until you're ready to peel off the wrappers to eat it. What a great idea! FOOD/DRINKS: (5/5) - Shishito peppers (4/5): Grilled to perfection, can't really mess this one up. The smoked honey glaze was a great winner though. Perfectly tangy & sweet - Tuna Poke Temaki (4/5): fresh and tender, the crispy shallots gave it a bite of flavor at the end - XO Scallop Temaki (5/5): mildly sweet & brightened with a squeeze of lemon. The XO sauce was also spot on, not too spicy and just the perfect umami - Coconut Shrimp Temaki (4/5): crunchy shell with the shrimp perfectly cooked. It was good but just couldn't out shine the others who were just phenomenal - Salmon Serrano Temaki (4/5): my favorite fish is salmon so I thought I would be a bit biased. However, even though the salmon was fresh the fish flavor didn't shine as much as the ginger sauce - Cucumber Black Sesame Temaki (3/5): really interesting combo, seemed like a pallet cleanser at the end of the meal. Not really for my taste but I didn't NOT enjoy it. Most likely wouldn't order it again just because I'd rather save room to try another temaki - Maitake Truffle Temaki (5/5): incredibly delicious, def worth ordering a la carte. Right when it hit the table you could already smell the truffle rafting through the air. The mushrooms were so tender & juicy, teased with the marinade to give it umami flavors almost like it's beef - Red Crab California Temaki (5/5): one of my favorites by far. The crab is so so fresh & sweet. Fresher than the Tuna Poke & even sweeter than the XO Scallop. I could easily eat 5 of these. Must have if you come here! - Cider house mule (5/5): high quality drink with just as much thought & effort in its invention as any alcoholic cocktail. Loved the rosemary & pear combo OVERVIEW: (5/5) - Incredibly fresh seafood. Amazing presentation. Generous amounts. It's rare to find a place that has NY city quality with suburban prices. Definitely coming back! - My ideal Temaki lineup: maitake truffle, tuna poke, XO scallop, crab california, salmon serrano

Yelp
I enjoyed Nami Nori Montclair! The service was good the staff were great at bringing items out and checking in. The ambiance was gorgeous, it was a modern/clean aesthetic that was beautiful. I appreciate a good restaurant that caters to gluten free/dietary restrictions. Food: Deliciously messy! The furikake fries were crisp, well seasoned and the ketchup was smoky. The furikake seasoning was messy and I will use chopsticks to eat my fries next time. The temaki hand rolls, please read the instructions and take heed or you will spill toppings everywhere. I got the classic set which was delicious, my favorites were the scallop and coconut shrimp. The cucumber sesame was a nice light flavor that I should've eaten first. The salmon and tuna poke were classic flavors. This was a great way to elevate sushi. The fiancé got two sweet potato tempura (his favorite), two tofu chimichurri and one red pepper. His least favorite was the red pepper, and the tofu he personally prefers more crispy style. For vegetarians I will say it's a bit limited depending on your tastes, but he still enjoyed his meal. The drinks at the Montclair location are mocktails (BYOB location) but they were delicious, not too sweet. I would like to try the others! For dessert I got the sesame chocolate chip miso cookies which they served warm. It was a bit dense for me heated up, but I saved a cookie and ate it the next day and it was perfect. Nice chocolate chip to cookie ratio, and the salty umami was a nice hint of flavor. I'll try the mochichurros next time. Price: For the flavors and experience, this was worth it. I think the prices were good for what we had. You can easily spend more than $50 a person here though if you try a lot of the small plates. I thought the portions were perfect though. Overall I'll definitely come back to Nami Nori and I'd like to try their other locations in the city for the cocktails. (Or just bring soju to spike my drinks)

Yelp
What??? How?!?!?! Beyond outstanding! My favorites were the spicy tuna and coconut shrimp, but everything was delicious. Truly a memorable meal. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
This place was so clean and sleek. The food was also delicious. If you're looking for something not too heavy and also some delicious Asian food. Definitely stop by here!

Yelp
I hate to give restaurants a 3 star rating but I was a bit disappointed with my experience here. Our appetizers were great, the fried calamari was perfection. However, I was disappointed by the hand rolls. I ordered the Signature Tamaki and while delicious, the plastic on the seaweed ruined my experience. The server said that it keeps everything fresh but it was unnecessary. When I go out for dinner, I would like a seamless experience. Unfortunately that wasn't the case at Nami Nori. Also, this restaurant is more expensive than it should be. I hate to compare restaurants but DOMODOMO is so much better. The food is much more flavorful and the ambiance is more inviting.

Yelp
Amazing experience! Everything was so delicious! Service was great. Place is clean, new, cozy. For starters, we had the ocean trout sashimi, tempura misto, and veggie miso soup. All very good. The sashimi had orange ponzo which had a lemony kick! We had the signature & classic set for our mains and the temaki was sooo delicious. The sesame miso chocolate chip cookie for dessert was soft, warm, and very chocolatey. Just writing this review is making me very hungry ! I can't wait to go back !

Yelp
A reservation is a MUST, #1. I came here on January 7th, 2023 with a friend. If you're not familiar with Monctlair, Bloomfield Avenue is a crap show, but there is parking in the same building complex that Nami Nori is in. However, be ready to pay a minimum of $20 for the parking spot. Nami Nori is open every day, except Mondays, from 12-2:30PM and then again 5-9:30PM. I would highly recommend doing "THE "CREATE YOUR OWN" SET" because it is the cheaper way to trying many of their Temaki's. The fries were a weird texture and took a few attempts to get used to it and the flavor, but I do recommend it. The calamari is a no brainer to order!

Yelp
Second time here and the flavors of the temaki set are so unique. While the portion is a bit smaller to other hand roll spots in the area, it's still well worth to visit to try their variety of flavor combinations for each fish. Toro with scallion and xo scallop are my favorites! I would say nami nori is a must visit.

Yelp
Very cool new spot in Montclair! We came here on a Friday night and it was pretty packed. Try to get reservations if you can. We got the corn ribs and fries for the apps and they were both very delicious. They had a lot of umami flavor. For the hand rolls, we got the signature set and all the rolls were really tasty even the vegetarian ones. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I visited Nami Nori with my bf and we were both sincerely impressed. Everything we ordered was delicious and the desserts especially were exquisite. The Ocean Trout Sashimi and Spicy Tuna dip appetizers were both outstanding. I had the Classic Set Temaki and my bf ordered a La carte- the only thing we didn't care for was the California roll. We tried the churros and cannoli for dessert, and while the warm churros were a real treat, my boyfriend said the cannoli was the best dessert he's had in his life. The space is definitely tight, you feel like you're sitting on top of each other, and the music was a little loud, but there's not much to complain about here. Service was good. Probably the best part for me was that their entire menu, including dessert, is gluten free.

Yelp
Everything was fantastic. We ate shishito peppers and tempura misto, both of which were flavorful and cooked to perfection. We tried 7 of the hand rolls and enjoyed them. The toro scallion and xo scallop rolls were standouts. This place is BYOB but the raspberry lychee mocktail was so good it made me question whether there was secret alcohol in it. (Luckily for my 3-year-old dinner companion, the answer is no) One of my new favorite restaurants in NJ!

Yelp
SERVICE: No complaints, everything was as expected. 5/5. AMBIANCE: Smallish space so they work with what they've got. If you're at one of the few tables, you'll be pretty close to the table next to you (i.e. with zero effort, you can touch their table). Decor was nice and minimalistic. 4.5/5. FOOD: Took my GF here for her birthday dinner. We weren't disappointed: CRISPY CALAMARI appetizer was 5/5. Would definitely get that again & again. SHISHITO PEPPERS appetizer was also 5/5. My GF liked this more than I did being that her spicy tolerance is greater than mine, but I'd still recommend it. The dipping sauce was great. We both got Create Your Own temaki; the missus got: - Tuna Poke with Crispy Shallots - Eggplant, Red Miso, and Gobo Chips - Spicy Crab Dynamite (she said this was too salty for her so I ate the half she didn't want) - Yellowtail Scallion - Spicy Tuna I got: - Cucumber Black Sesame, Shiso, and Plum - Aki Ebi (shrimp) - Spicy Crab Dynamite - California - Spicy Lobster, Butter Poached, Tobiko, Shiso, and Crispy Potato Overall a 5/5 for the food. The Spicy Lobster was my favorite, and I could probably get five of them next time. My only gripe: tables had cheap paper napkin squares. At least a full-size paper napkin would be nice, to at least cover most of your lap. I think I lost two or three to the floor because they were so small they'd just fly off my lap. -0.5 for that. I'd rate them 4.5/5 but rounding up to 5/5 because Yelp.

Yelp
I had an amazing time here! It has a very cozy and minimalist ambiance. We took a reservation to be seated at the bar and the vibes were immaculate! I would highly recommend doing the same for the full experience. We were able to watch as our rolls were crafted and personally placed down in front of us to enjoy together. The staff was so lovely and attentive throughout our time here. I ordered the signature set which came with five hand rolls. My favorites were the coconut shrimp and kanpachi rolls. They were definitely very small so I left still feeling hungry, but it was worth the experience.

Yelp
3-poke 1-salmon avocado -1spicy tuna I highly recommend going here. Their hand rolls are super fresh, and the salmon was the freshest of them all. If this wasn't so expensive I would go here all the time! Just a tip if your going to eat here make sure you make reservations as it is small and gets packed!

Yelp
The acclaimed Japanese restaurant that specializes in "open-style temaki" is expanding out of New York City into Montclair. Nami Nori Montclair is a casual temaki bar specializing in open-style sushi hand rolls. Their menu features signature temaki, including crunchy varieties, as well as takes on the classics and a special vegan section. The open-style temaki allows everyone to enjoy a wide variety of flavors, in each fun-to-eat, visually tempting bite. They also serve Japanese-inspired dishes and desserts. MONTCLAIR EXCLUSIVE SPECIALS honey butter corn ribs aonori, lime braised bamboo shoots sea beans, rayu chili oil This location in Montclair location is a BYOB, cheers!

Yelp
My best friend and I had our joint birthday lunch here and we enjoyed every bit of it! I made the reservation for 12pm on a Wednesday and was welcomed by the manager, Zeke. He really went above and beyond to make sure we had a exceptional experience from the beginning to end of the service. My friend and I each had The Triple temaki - it has caviar on top of uni on top of toro. I have not tried all three and it was so nice to taste it all in one bite! How convenient, how efficient, how delicious. As a surprise dessert for our birthdays, we each got a fresh warm sesame miso chocolate chip cookie. I got chocolate all over my shirt and jeans, but hey, it wouldn't be a real birthday without evidence of a treat, right?

Yelp
Me and my two gfs went here last Friday night. it was something we were looking forward to all day and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere of the restaurant was so cute with simple homey decor and located in a busy downtown area. Drew was in charge of serving us at the sushi counter and he was so fun and explained every handroll we got to us. We had a great time and the handrolls were so fresh and when we left we were already talking about when we'd be back.

Yelp
Finally had the chance to try this place. The sushi are delicious and fresh, my favorite is the spicy crab dynamite!

Yelp
The hype is real. Nami Nori is amazing. Highly suggest the bar seating for the full experience - they deliver each piece as it's made instead of giving it to all at once like they do at the tables. Simple, minimal, clean Japanese interior design. Kind service. Friendly chefs. They took our coats and brought us an ice bucket, super nice. We started with a soup each. I got the veggie miso soup, which was good, but my husband's asari clam soup was to die for. We ordered Temaki (duh). I ordered the Signature Set (tuna poke, x.o. Scallop, kanpachi pineapple, coconut shrimp, and cucumber black sesame). I honestly loved them all, especially the tuna poke. My husband created his own set so we could try even more of the Temaki. He did a toro + scallion (worth the $12, it was amazing), spicy tuna, spicy crab dynamite, salmon avocado, and yellowtail scallion. SO DELICIOUS. We were still a little hungry so we added a sweet potato tempura (SO good) and a tuna cucumber to the mix. I think next time we'll do the Temaki again, but order at least one non-soup appetizer! If you don't do one of the standard Temaki sets, it can get pricey pretty quickly going the "create your own" route. They go from about $6-$12 a la carte, which quickly surpasses the $28 pre-selected set price once you get to 5 pieces. Can't wait to bring my vegetarian mom here to do the vegan set!! She'll lose her head over how many options she gets. BYO sake! But they also have a great menu of non-alcoholic beverages from yuzu seltzer to fancy cocktails ($7).

Yelp
Still dreaming about the meal I had at Nami Nori because it was that good. Nami Nori specializes in hand rolls with a unique spin on flavor. When you hear things like kanpachi pineapple, question marks definitely pop up, but I promise it all goes together so well! The raspberry moon mocktail is amazing and is a perfect blend of raspberry with a hint of lychee. We also ordered the yuzu palmer, but they ran out :c I ordered the signature temaki and really enjoyed it! My favorites were xo scallop, kanpachi pineapple, and coconut shrimp. The cucumber black sesame was the one that felt like it didn't belong and was not as flavorful as the other 4 in the flight. You can also order the create your own, but do note that you pay based off each item you order and there's not a set price. I wish they had a limited menu for the pick your own with one set price. I feel like if you're jonesing for the create your own, you're better off just ordering whatever you want rather than being restricted to 5 hand rolls. The decor of the place is amazing and has Japanese minimalism vibes. Plus there's a nice mix of Kpop songs playing in the background. I absolutely love Nami Nori and would try again!

Yelp
How is this place flying under the radar. It's a must go! Everything is absolutely fresh and spectacular. Service is phenomenal. Place is on the small side and I highly recommend sitting at the bar. This place is worth it! The ingredients are worth the price for what you get. They don't cheap out on the caviar either.

Yelp
Treat yourself to this fancy meal! I've had this place bookmarked for a while and finally got a chance to try it with a fellow foodie friend. We had the lunch special which was $19 for two appetizers with choices of furikake fries, veggie miso soup or salad then three temaki. We both tried the furikake fries which were nicely seasoned and crisp along with the veggie miso soup which was okay, it had carrot and age tofu so a bit of a spin on the traditional miso soup. My favorite temaki were the coconut shrimp which had a delicious sauce and the x.o scallop that I added a la carte to my lunch special. We also ordered the crispy rice and mushroom dip that we really enjoyed! The waitress explained each temaki is wrapped in plastic to ensure the nori does not get soggy. The service was friendly and attentive with a beautifully decorated esthetically pleasing design inside. It was a bit busy on a Wednesday afternoon for lunch so I would recommend a reservation which we had and were seated right away. It is a bit pricey for what you get but I would still return when I want a nice treat!

Yelp
Very nice ambiance, very beautiful and calm. Has an upscale vibe to it. The food came out timely and the servers were very considerate. The food was solid, it's so hard to distinguish between good sushi nowadays. I would come here again. I had a bit of a challenge removing the wrappers of the sushi, but that was user error, not their fault. I loved their miso soup!

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! Nami Nori seems like the type of restaurant I'd go to for a special occasion because it's such a unique experience. I've never had temaki, but I loved it. The inside looks like the interior of a NYC restaurant, very minimalistic yet trendy. My friend and I ordered the spicy tuna dip to start. The spice level was perfect, I felt the heat but my mouth wasn't on fire. I wish it came with more tuna and crisps because it was so delicious. I created my own set of 5 temaki: 1 sweet potato, 2 salmon with avocado, 2 spicy tuna. The sweet potato was a little dry, but nothing that a little sauce on the side wouldn't fix. Still, the tempura was very crunchy and sweet potato was nicely cooked. The spicy tuna and the salmon with avocado were to die for. The fish tasted so fresh and the texture was perfectly creamy. The experience of eating temaki was like an activity and it made the meal fun. Can't wait to come back another time! I'd order the same exact thing since I loved it so much. Wish it was easier to get a reservation. Be sure to book weeks in advance if you want a regular dinner time.
