"Also, Namu, it’s a cart on 50th and Division. The thing I miss most as a vegetarian is a Hawaiian plate lunch, with the mac salad. Namu’s Hawaiian plate lunch, they have vegetarian versions with jackfruit or tofu." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Google
Cool food truck! I got the teriyaki chicken Hawaiian plate. The Mac salad was delicious and my order came with two scoops. The teriyaki sauce was a little too sweet for me. Decently priced.

Theabeebutterfly

Google
The kalua pork plate was so good! The spicy sauce is really good too.

Google
I recently tried the chicken teriyaki from Namu. The food was good, with a tasty sauce and well-cooked chicken, but I felt the portion of meat could have been more generous. Customer service was just okay; the staff were polite but not particularly attentive. Overall, it's a decent meal, but there's room for improvement.

Google
Menu is easy to follow. The pulled pork sandwich is very filling; I’ve never been able to finish it. Not to mention it is satisfyingly full of flavor. Great value for the price.

Google
Edit: this place used to be the best but now it’s so hard to get consistent service. In the old photo you see here 8 pieces of tofu. Today we got 4. Sadly, it just seems different everytime. Old review: We had the vegan plate today and holy **** that was amazing!!!

Google
This used to be my favorite food cart many years ago. Decided to pop in today and was pretty disappointed. I get inflation but — they no longer serve avocado on their lunch plate, the meat portion was HALF or less of what is used to be. Tiny. Plus it didn’t taste anywhere near the quality it used to be. The cucumbers didn’t taste as good. It was all just disappointing and MEH. Another Portland gem lost.

Namu has become one of my takeout favorites during the past pandemic year. I initially visited thanks to a friend who wanted to try their Hawaiian Plate lunch. He loves it - finding it preferable to anything he's had on multiple island visits. I've tended to go with their Korean options, not being a huge fan of Kalua Pork, and have been very happy with my choices. I did try the Pulled Pork sandwich (Kalua based) and it was fine, but I've always found pulled pork to be like pizza - no two are the same, and everyone has their own preferences - mine is heavy on caramelized sauce, which is not Namu's style. But, I will gladly take anything that Namu makes that involves Bulgogi Beef. That includes their cheesesteak sandwich (spectacular, and easily enough for 2 meals) and the bulgogi beef plate (served with a delightful spinach salad, among other things). Service has been reliably friendly and efficient, and even though I get my orders to go, there is a substantial amount of covered space in front of the cart, allowing me to keep dry, regardless of the weather. Just FYI, if you're eating there, beers from Scout go well with all of Namu's offerings.

Google
This guy made the most tasty food ever. I got a Hawaiian teriyaki lunch (chicken), everything was so flavorful, to the point that I was considering to buy another plate to go. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Asian Island food fusion, super good. Two bowls are good decent size to feed a family of four (2 adults, 2 kids). There's outdoor seating and indoor!

Israel G.

Yelp
hit this place up on our bicycle food tour. we were pretty stuffed already; however, we really enjoyed the food even still. they have a few food carts here to choose, but if you're in the mood for some legit bulgogi, well, then, stop on by and get some. asian/hawaiian fusion is on point. loved this place!

Nate P.

Yelp
The people who work here hate their job. And they hate you too. Don't try to call in to place your order because they won't pick up the phone. Once you get past the hostility of the workers, the food is quite decent. I really enjoy the bibimbop and Aloha bowl. The macaroni salad is also good. Prices have gone up and paying $16 (with tip) for a rather small bowl feels expensive. But I find myself coming back here from time to time since it's convenient to where I live and I enjoy getting a cold one at Ben Bears beer while I wait for my food.

Yelp
I've been going to Namu for quite a few years. I generally like their food and love that each dish comes with a bunch of accoutrements. I got the teriyaki chicken plate. It was super fresh and hit the spot. I forgot to ask that they not add teriyaki sauce to the rice but will do so next time. I love all the little side dishes with the exception of the spinach. I find it tastes super sweet and isn't quite what I want when I already have pickled cucumbers and teriyaki.

Yelp
Absolutely LOVE Namu! Each time I go there I'm impressed and find their food delicious. Service is outstanding as well. I usually end up there when Dameon is working and he has yet to disappoint. Super friendly and cool guy. I highly recommend Namu!

Allison P.

Yelp
Food was delicious but I won't be going back because of the service/ attitude of the woman working there. It made the whole visit really uncomfortable.

Kodi T.

Yelp
The Mac salad was delicious. I didn't exactly care for the teriyaki tofu meal and felt the prices were a little inflated. That being said, I would come back for the Mac salad and try something else... veggie Hawaiian food is tough

Luis Z.

Yelp
Wow! This spot was such a nice surprise! The food to price ratio is absolutely incredible! And the food was delicious and prepared beautifully. I wish my stay in Portland was longer as I would gladly eat here again

Christina G.

Yelp
The food is tasty, but a bit pricey. The service is hit or miss, sometimes it seems like they hate their job.

Shashank L.

Yelp
Combination of Hawaiian and Korean cuisine sounded weird. But what's not weird in Portland right. Bulgogi beef plate is amazing, the meat is tender and the flavors are delicious. Must try!

Victoria S.

Yelp
Food takes forever to come out and is underwhelming, with some of the dishes being way too salty depending on the day. I've tried the cheesesteak, pulled pork sandwich, and Hawaiian lunch plate - the pulled pork sandwich is the best thing on the menu. Not bad, not great, somewhere to fill your stomach, but not a destination.

Ethan O.

Yelp
This place is in a neat little food court plaza with lots of spaced out seating during this time of COVID. I ordered the Bulgogi beef plate and would say that it definitely checked off all the boxes for tasting like Bulgogi and having sufficient side dishes to make this a balanced meal. Having said that, I don't usually have high expectations for fusion food, and unfortunately my expectations were justified. I probably wouldn't go back. It wasn't particularly memorable for me and not a place I'd strongly recommend to a friend if they were to want Hawaiian or Korean food. Do check this food plaza out though and I would recommend trying it at least once!

Eliza Jane H.

Yelp
So they told me they were "done and not taking orders " then 5 mins later to be taking orders from their fellow hipsters . When I confronted them about it they said "oh sorry we were out of avocado and waiting for it " . Okay could you have told me that when it was as literally on its way ? Rude and horrible for customer service . Hire better people , the girl in the front and the cook both didn't care about service .

Evan M.

Yelp
Really bad plate lunch. Kailua pork is so salty with no sweetness. Rice is mushy and Mac salad is grey.... None of it cooked fresh. I'm a city with ate-oh-ate and Roxy's this place needs to up their game or this one will close too

Sarah M.

Yelp
The teriyaki plate was amazing. I love all the different sides that come with their plate meals. Such a good balance. I've eaten here 3 times and will be back many more.

Ben H.

Yelp
This Bulgogi Cheesesteak induces the most serene and beautiful state of mind. Layer after layer of delightful tastes overcome my tastebuds with exquisite ecstasy. The melty cheese, the perfectly caramelized onions, the texture of the toasted bread, and most importantly the indescribable euphoria that is the bulgogi beef. All mixed together to create something that you cannot help but feel blessed to exist in this moment of time and space with this creation. Miracles exist, and they exist in the form of the Bulgogi Cheesesteak.

Elsie W.

Yelp
Korean & Hawaiian fusion? It was the only food truck here (part of the tidbit food pod) that sounded interesting. I LOVED my plate! $8 Gogi Breakfast Kalua style pork, 2 fried eggs, rice and sauce. This reminded me of Hawaii! I loved it. The sauce was soooooooo good. The pork was amazing. The guy was very nice and friendly. The wait was super long BUT WORTH IT!

Ben D.

Yelp
The man working tonite (3/18/23) has the worst customer service. Stood at the window for about 10 minutes without being acknowledged, while a line formed behind me. No "I'll be with you shortly" not even a glance up. Finally he decides to take my order, and mumbled "what would you like", mind you no smile and still not even looking in my direction. Threw me a beeper and that was it. The pineapple and tofu I got in my Aloha bowl was burnt and everything tasted dry and bland. This isn't the first time I've had to deal with this guy. But now I know to not even try and get food if he's working. Do better.

Karl R.

Yelp
Oh, I guess the owner had my review removed. That's nice. Here it is, again, with site specific details: So I've been coming to Namu for years and in general find this place underwhelming but serviceable and cheap. This review is for the cart across the street from DC Vegetarian. It used to be at the now closed pod around 30th and Division. I'm leaving a review because the vegan bowl is no longer the vegan bowl. It's now a jackfruit bowl. Let me explain. It used to have beans, rice, spinach, kim chi, avocado, and cucumber. Maybe I'm forgetting something. Whatever. The new "vegan bowl" omits the beans (the best part) and adds jackfruit (blech). It's also $2 more. I know they give zero shits about my opinion but I'd happily adjust my review if the vegan bowl was reverted. Not everyone likes jackfruit. But by all means, have a jackfruit bowl for those that do. And a vegan bowl, as you have had for like 10 years now, for those that have supported you coming for the vegan bowl. Until I can get the actual Namu vegan bowl I will choose to support other businesses.

Chris P.

Yelp
Our family loves this food cart. Kids love the aloha bowl, and we're big fans of the spicy tofu plate and vegan bowl. Tasty, fresh, filling, nutritious, and good value - it checks all the boxes for a great food cart meal, as far as I'm concerned!

Charlie T.

Yelp
Haven't been here since the Belmont location, but tried out the Hawaian plate, which came with came with some pulled pork, rice, and mac salad. The pork was amazing as it was super tender and warm. The mac salad was ok, but something about it was off a bit. Overall, pretty good dish.

Christine S.

Yelp
Another food pod in Portland that was excited to try... since they had Bulgogi Philly Cheesesteak! Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed as it was very dry for me =( Nonetheless, it's a cute little food pod with several different food options. Maybe those items are their hits!

Samantha H.

Yelp
Great place to get some really good vegan Hawaiian food. The aloha bowl is soooo good! Juicy pineapple, crispy tofu, tender noodles and rice with an avacado on top and a sweet teryaki-like sauce!

Koby R.

Yelp
Some of the best Hawaiian food in Portland, if you are looking for a bomb plate lunch this is the go to spot. I rate them highly.

Treva E.

Yelp
We love this place!!! Very very friendly staff and delicious food. The Hawaiian plate is where it's at. Also their chicken is amazing- marinated and cooked fresh when you order. Their Mac salad isnt what I'm used to but I still devour it just the same.

Nuttybits W.

Yelp
LOVE Namu! This is the best food cart. We go to the one on Division and have been customers for years. It's consistently delicious and have always received great customer service.

Leslie P.

Yelp
Small booth but big flavor. Great tasting plate with good quantity of food for the price. Had the spicy tofu with a nice mix of vegetables and rice. Fast service as well

Alec W.

Yelp
Food is good but certain employees take forever to make it. Waited 30 minutes with 3 people ahead of me.

Drew F.

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE the vegan bowl. I crave it constantly. The staff is always very friendly and the wait time is never long even when they seem busy. I highly recommend this spot.

Brian S.

Yelp
Dry old chicken. That should be the businesses name. Maybe Mr. Dry Old Chicken. The guy really doesn't like 10 percent tips on food I knew would be bad, but still he could have played it off. They tried. But if you want authentic Hawaiian food don't go here.

Megan L.

Yelp
Ordered the bulgogi which came with a generous portion and good mix of foods, from lots of meat, rice, sauce, veggies, and avocados. I would be willing to try their bibimbap or another dish.

Cindy I.

Yelp
I really enjoy this food cart. Love the slow cooked pork plate and usually remember to hold the cabbage since I'm not a fan of cabbage. Nice sweet moist rice. I know some of their pods have been closed so not sure where all their carts are now. Maybe someday they will get a brick and mortar place.

Oleg K.

Yelp
Great value and tasty food! I had a pulled pork plate, and it was very good. The portion sizes are generous, and the Paterson behind the counter was very friendly. Great service at affordable price.

Caroline D.

Yelp
This is one of many of Portland's food truck businesses. There are many Namus, peppered around the city, so know that it is a chain. I had the spicy tofu dish, and asked for it to be a little less spicy than normal. The tofu was nicely crisped, and all the other items were appropriately paired. I only wish there was more of the sautéed greens with sesame seeds. The Kim chi was pretty good, could've been a little more fresh. I also wish there wasn't as much rice, it was a little overkill. Most of the dishes are $10, which is pretty good for the area. I would come back, if in the mood for Korean....it's not a bad option!

Amy P.

Yelp
I LOVE this place. Their food is all cooked to perfection. The rice, meet, and cucumber side salad is delicious and fresh. The only thing I would change is the kimchi. It doesn't have much flavor and is much more wet than other kimchi I've had.

Connie O.

Yelp
This place is alright...I got the BiBimBap and Bulgogi Cheese steak sandwich. BiBimBap was wayyy to spicy. And I'm pretty sure traditional Korean BiBimBap has some sort of meat in it...there was no meat. I gave the Bulgogi Cheese steak sandwich for my boyfriend that didn't eat it until the next morning. His exact words, "Meat was delicious, but the rest of it was too soggy". Given that he ate this the next morning, totally understandable. One guy working here, so things are a bit slow. I wouldn't come here again but it's a nice place to try out.

Wyatt H.

Yelp
The staff is always great and the food is fantastic. Honestly I wish it was farther away from me so I wasn't tempted to go as often as I do.

Tiva F.

Yelp
Delicious and slow. No one was in line ahead of me to order but it took them a while to come to the window to take my order. I got the Aloha bowl which is vegan. It took at least 20 minutes. I saw two people that ordered after me get their food. I tipped before all of this happened. Ugh

Ryan S.

Yelp
The vegan bowl had a nice variety of food in it. The reason for the three stars is that it was swimming in a pool of hot sauce. While I love spice, this was excessive in heat and was overwhelming to any possible other flavors. We weren't asked how much spice we'd like and when you order a vegan bowl you don't expect your tongue to be on fire. Unfortunately for the price and the hot sauce we didn't get what we had hoped for. Go next door to the Doghouse - pay less, get more food, and have a better experience of taste and flavor.

Shikha C.

Yelp
So excited to see the food cart pod at division Street! And what a variety of carts. Korean, Indian, Pizzas, Filipino, Chinese.. Korean food was on my mind since a while and there it was "NAMU" beautifully decorated exteriors with a corner lot! There are some Hindu chants written near the delivery window. When asked, the chef said it was owner's idea. It was going well with the cart decor. Liked: Customer service. Friendly and they customized my Aloha bowl as more spicy. Decor of the cart. Didn't like: Aloha bowl how is tasted. Utter disappointment. Taste 1/5. Had dry sticky rice, Yakisoba noodles in bbq sauce, Chunks of tofu with namesake avocado and pineapple. I found the serving portion too small and didn't taste anything like Hawaiian or Korean. Rating is for customer service and cart experience.

Rebecca A.

Yelp
Was a little worried reading the reviews, but happy to say my bulgogi fix was met. Had the bulgogi plate which had rice, cucumber salad (pickled cukes), cooked spinach with sesame seeds, and kim chee. Large portion of bulgogi (I choose to add the spicy gochujang, which was not really spicy), ice cream scoop size of rice, and the additional veggies (my advice, skip the kim chee...different flavor than I like, and get double cucumber or spinach. Both of them were much better than the kim chee in my opinion). They were open Tuesday for lunch while a lot of the other food trucks were not. I'd happily come back to try some of their plates.

Patrick W.

Yelp
NAMU is a fusion of Hawaiian and Korean food. The pork platter at NAMU is one of the best pork dishes I have tasted. The pork is ridiculously tender and comes with avocado, rice, spinach, and kimchi. On the other hand, the pork is dosed with a lot of sauce. Unfortunately, I did not like it at all because it is bitter. As a result, I ended up eating below the top layer of the pork to avoid the sauce. I definitely recommend the dish but maybe ask for the sauce on the side unless you know you like it. If you are visiting Portland or hiking in the nearby area and looking for recommendations, feel free to message me through Yelp and I can share my itinerary, which includes my Yelp reviews. The information for an electronic copy can also be found via my Yelp profile.

Jamie J.

Yelp
The spicy tofu plate is so stinkin good. My favorite dish in Portland! The smoky, spicy bbq sauce is so flavorful. Love it! The marinated spinach and cucumber salad tastes like nothing I've had before-- it lights up mah tastebuds! Ok

Andrew T.

Yelp
Lived in Portland for 5 years and Namu on Division is still my favorite food truck. I get the Aloha bowl every time and it's delicious. The owner is a great guy and has been running the truck for more than ten years. Highly recommend.

Janaus B.

Yelp
Terrible fried rice, very wet, bland, and included burnt runoff as if the pan was not cleaned before cooking. Requested no pineapple, was cooked with pinapple and a few of the big chunks were removed.

John L.

Yelp
The longs were ridiculously long everywhere at this food cart on a Friday evening. My kid wanted bulgogi so we got it. I'm sad to say we wasted time, money, and most importantly stomach space. Quite disappointing. Tried the bulgogi cheese steak and the bulgogi plate. The rice was undercooked. The bulgogi was thick, tough, and too sweet. The banchan was ok. The cheesesteak was better, but still just ok. Many other choices in the pod that are better.

C. S.

Yelp
This was worth our 20 minute drive. Excellent bibimbop. Generous portions. Standard Portland foot cart price. Highly recommend

Kyle S.

Yelp
This review is only for the malasadas. I've had the "real" thing on multiple trips to Hawaii and it's hard to compare anything to the real deal. That being said, they prepare them fresh, serve them hot, and season them great with an appropriate amount of sugar and cinnamon. The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars? Of the 6 ordered, one of the larger ones was a little under cooked and very gummy with the dough being undercooked. It was not raw by any means, but they should be fully cooked. I will say the other 5 were absolutely delicious. My recommendation? Try them!
