Nan Hotpot - Review - Chinatown - London - The Infatuation

"Nan Hotpot looks like a Cyberdog from the outside, but inside it’s an homage to traditional Chinese Ming dynasty design with yoke back wood benches and vintage signs. It’s packed—students chasing the early bird dinner discount, theatre-goers fuelling up before curtain call, and rowdy groups settling in for the long haul. Tucked just off Leicester Square, this Chongqing spot stays open until the early hours Monday to Saturday, serving food and full-on energy until 3am. Let Nan take the wheel and drive for you—their set menu includes unlimited visits to the sauce station, a platter of sliced beef short ribs, king prawns, sweet potato noodles, and enoki mushrooms in a luxurious half-and-half mushroom and tomato broth. Don’t leave without trying the brown sugar glutinous rice cake and the adorable strawberry panda shaved ice, too." - Angela Hui

Honestly one of the best hot pot experiences I’ve had in London. The broth is rich, spicy, and actually flavourful — not just oily heat. You can really taste the depth of the soup the longer it cooks. Ingredients are fresh, portions are generous, and everything we ordered just worked perfectly with the broth (especially the beef and tripe). It’s the kind of place where you stop talking halfway through eating because you’re too busy enjoying the food. Staff were friendly and helpful without hovering, and the atmosphere felt lively and comfortable. If you’re craving proper Chinese hot pot and not a watered-down version, this place is 100% worth it. Will definitely be coming back.

The restaurant has a clean, comfortable, and pleasant environment, and everything—from the tables to the utensils—was very hygienic, which made the meal feel especially reassuring. The service was outstanding as well: the staff were friendly, attentive, and very efficient, always ready to help and quick with refills and dishes. The food definitely deserves special praise. The thinly sliced rib beef was perfectly cut—just a few seconds in the pot and it turned incredibly tender and flavorful. The duck intestines were wonderfully crispy and fresh, with no unpleasant smell at all. The shrimp were tender, juicy, and clearly very fresh. Overall, the quality of the meat was excellent and you could really taste the freshness. And don’t miss the dessert! The taro snow mountain was absolutely amazing, smooth, rich, and not overly sweet. It was the perfect way to finish the meal and easily one of the best desserts I’ve had at a hotpot restaurant. I will definitely be coming back and recommending it to friends! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Visited Nan Hot Pot recently and had a really enjoyable meal. We ordered a tomato soup base and were pleasantly surprised by how rich and well-balanced it was — not overly sour, and it kept its depth even after cooking for a while. The ingredients were fresh and well prepared. The lamb slices were thin and tender, duck intestines were clean and crispy, and the prawn paste had a good texture with real bite. We also tried the black fish slices, which were fresh and cooked nicely in the broth. One highlight was the dessert — the blue spirulina coconut snowflake ice. Very light, refreshing, and a great way to finish a hot pot meal. The restaurant itself has a modern, spacious layout, and it didn’t feel cramped even when busy. Service was efficient and polite, with staff responding quickly when we needed help. Overall, a solid hot pot spot in London with good food quality and a comfortable dining environment. Would definitely return.

Lovely broth and good quality ingredients — everything tasted fresh and well prepared. But despite booking in advance, we still waited more than 30 minutes to be seated, which was disappointing. The biggest downside is the price. For what we paid, the portions felt quite limited. A nice place to try once, but for the cost, I expected more generous servings and faster seating.

I recently tried Nan Hotpot, and it was absolutely amazing. The broth was rich and flavorful, perfectly balanced without being too heavy. All the ingredients were super fresh – from the tender beef slices to the crunchy vegetables – and everything tasted so satisfying when cooked in the soup. I especially loved the dipping sauces, which really elevated the flavors and made each bite unique. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a great place to enjoy with friends. Definitely one of the best hotpot experiences I’ve had in a long time!

Absolutely love Nan Hotpot! The beef is super tender, the salted egg yolk shrimp balls are amazing, and the coconut ice is the perfect finish. Authentic flavors, cozy atmosphere, and great discounts — easily my favorite hotpot spot in London!

Nan Hotpot is my No.1 hotpot spot in London. The tomato soup base is the richest I’ve had here, and the spicy butter broth is incredibly fragrant and full of flavour. Their fresh duck blood is a must-order – soft, bouncy and soaks up all the goodness of the broth – and the pork liver (coated in egg before cooking) is always tender and tasty. The beef slices are huge and juicy, the pea shoots are very fresh and great for balancing the richness, and the desserts (especially the big bowls of shaved ice) are perfect after a heavy meal. Most dishes are around £5–£12 with generous portions, so the value is excellent for London.
