Nan Xiang Express is… fine, but definitely not on the same level as the original Nan Xiang in Flushing. The food feels very “express” quality, and if you’re expecting the same flavors, you’ll probably be disappointed. The pork rice cakes were pretty bland, and the pork was cut so thin and sparse that you could barely find it. Same with the beef udon — very little beef, and what was there didn’t add much flavor. I’ll be adding photos because the portions of meat were surprisingly minimal. Portion sizes overall were actually decent, and everything was hot when I picked it up. The spring rolls were good (the shrimp ones were better than the veggie), but nothing special. The cashier was efficient and friendly despite how busy it was, which I appreciated. Overall, it was okay for a quick takeout meal, but not somewhere I’d go out of my way to order from again.

My first visit to Nan Xiang Express was excellent! I planned to order three dishes—Crab Meat & Pork Soup Dumplings, Steamed Vegetable Dumplings, and Fried Noodles with Vegetables—but I wasn’t sure which vegetables were in the last two. My server, Jenny, was incredibly friendly and helpful. She explained that the vegetable dumplings are made with carrot, Shanghai bok choy, and glass noodles, and the fried noodles include wood ear mushrooms, Shanghai bok choy, and tofu skin. Thanks to her clear explanation, I ordered with confidence. Jenny also kindly brought all three dishes to my table without me having to ask. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Her kindness and clear communication made my first visit truly enjoyable.

Ordered Scallion Oil noodles, Nanxiang Signature Pork Soup Dumplings and Pan fry pork Dumplings, total $29.23 after tax. The food is terrible. Scallion Oil Noodle looks nice & pre-mixed, but it's absolutely bland, I don't know how they managed to make it look alright but when I bite on I only taste oil. I had to ask for soy sauce and for any experienced eater, when you pour cold uncooked soy sauce you ruined the whole dish. But for this noodle it has nothing to be ruined. 4/10. Second she brought me Pan Fry Pork Dumplings, absolutely bland. And for dumpling stuffing itself, it's a dull ginger-tasting disaster; for the vinegar with ginger slices sauce, it's bland like water -- they used the worse type of vinegar for this situation, it's NOT sour at all. The whole dish is worse than buffet shop pan fry dumpling, it has neither the savory pork juice nor the smoke&fry tasting skin. 5/10. The last, signature steam bundle, whatever they renamed it, it's supposed to be served in mini steam cage, but they served in open top cardboard bowl. The taste is actually acceptable, and the stuffing and soup inside are still hot enough, however it looks sad, tastes ordinary, and it's just not worth the money. Remember I spent $30 total! 6.5/10 Service & Atmosphere: well you walked into a tiny weird triangular space with a few seats and no restroom to wash your hands. The room is bright enough because it's a small spot clinging against street windows, yet it's so small no service left other than helping me get my food. They didn't even prepare extra sauces on each table. Never again

Nan Xiang Express in Forest Hills is a great spot for a quick and satisfying Chinese meal, especially if you're near the subway. Perfect for takeout or a fast bite when a craving hits. I recently stopped by and enjoyed their crab & pork soup dumplings, beef stir fried noodles, and a comforting hot soy milk ideal for a chilly day. If you're in Forest Hills and looking for Chinese food, this is a no-brainer.

It used to be really delicious and they had a lot of really good options. I really like their shrimp and pork wontons with peanut sauce, but they took them off the menu and then their braised beef noodle soup no longer has the same quality when they first opened up, the meat was really tender, and it was really delicious and now every time I order it, it is filled with a lot of tendons a lot of chewy textures it’s not the same. I wish they didn’t keep an out and change the quality of the food that they use.

Keepin it real out here in Forest Hills Finally able to have some good soup dumplings without driving to Flushing. This way is a quick drive away for me at a great location and seems to be set up to optimize for pick up orders. Customer service is solid (near grand opening), smaller seating area but doable, food is better than I expected. Will definitely visit again soon after the busy grand opening week(s).

Love this place! Gives such a warm and cozy feeling. Their soup dumplings are to die for. I've had their chicken and spicy beef soup dumplings and it did not disappoint. Small seating area but highly recommend it!

Excellent soup pork soup dumplings. We got chive pork sueño ones that were also tasty. The fried rice was good, not great, perfectly good shrimp but tame on soy sauce. Would Def come back. The little place has a bit of seating, the window area is warm on a hot day. Service was nice.

This is a cute to go Soup Dumpling spot in Forest Hills. Convient to grab something after work or for lunch. It can get pricy. Beef noodle soup and scallion pancake with beef are always a hit.

Passed by Nan Xiang Express twice and I had to read Yelp reviews which did not disappoint. Omg! The food here is amazing. Love love the Shrimp Fried Udon and the pork soup dumplings. Well seasoned and flavorful. Staff is helpful when ordering. There is a menu on the counter by the register where you can review to decide on which items to order. My neck was getting strained from lifting my head up to see their huge menu board. The restaurant is pretty small but there are definitely chairs and tables you can sit to enjoy your meal. Pretty red bag is where your food is placed to pick up order. Our food was pipping hot by the time we got home. Items are packaged well for no spillage. Will be back to try their other items.

Order on the large screen was easy and the food was served quickly. The dumplings are good. My favorite is the braised beef noodle. The seating area is simple and clean. The outdoor area is covered. Opens very early. The same experience in Asia with disposable utensils.

I came her on Saturday for dinner. It was amazing amazing experience form when I walked in to when I left. Jenny who was at the front helped me and was amazing. She told me to download the app and I saved $10.00 on my order. This was my second time having Nan Xiang and my first time I was not impressed. This time I would say it was good and I would definitely go to other locations. I ordered the scallion pancake beef and the pork soup dumplings. The pork soups dumplings were good; they had a good amount of soup and did not break. The scallion beef pancakes were good but I prefer the scallion pancake without beef. The scallion pancakes was well cooked and crispy without being greasy. I enjoyed both items very much and look forward to trying other items. I recommend this place fully.

The juiciest Soup Dumplings at Nan Xiang is here and they are so full of flavor Lots of options to choose from such as noodles, dumplings, and appetizers! Top off the meal with delish soy milk and cucumber salad!

I'm actually really surprised I haven't rated this before. Nan Xiang is nothing if not consistent. Obviously the bigger/main restaurant is the place to go if you're looking for incredible soup dumplings. But if you're in the area/don't want to wait a potentially long wait/want something quick/simple, this is a great option. It's right across from my bus home from the subway so when I missed my first bus I figured I'd swing by. The soup dumplings are always great-can't go wrong with any of the flavors (steamed and pan-fried). This time I grabbed the beef scallion pancake which is always just a TAD too oily but still rather good. The noodle dishes aren't the reason you come here but are also quite nice. Checkout/service is simple and the prices are reasonable. Ultimately, if you want to avoid the hub-bub of the main restaurant, this is a nice alternative option.

I popped in on my way home from work. I ordered the pork and veg wontons covered in peanut sauce and the signature pork soup dumplings. These weren't the best I've had in the area, nor was it the worst. I felt underwhelmed with them, and had to go ask for chili sauce. The staff seemed very bored, as through they were just there to do their shift (I totally get it) though it seemed as though asking for the chili sauce was an extra chore. Not a spot I'll come back to or recommend.

It's nice that there is a second location for Nan Xiang being in forest hills since I hate driving into flushing these days. But nothing compares to the original location in flushing. Flushing definitely has more options on the menu including different noodles dishes and the cold edemame/tofu/sherpard purse appetizer. But I'm still glad there is a location here if you want a quick bite.

The atmosphere is nice when you first walk in they provide free cucumber lemon water while you wait. The food is cheap and the portions are way bigger than I was expecting for $11 dollars. I tried various flavors of the soup dumplings all were great but I especially like the truffle flavor. I was with a party of 7 and all of our food came out in about 10 mins. So the service was definitely fast, However I felt the staff could have checked on us more. Overall it's a great experience for the price you pay and would definitely recommend.

Have been putting off trying this place bec of the limited seating. Only a table for 2 and for 4 at the window. Seats were available tonight so went to have a quick snack. Used the kiosk, was pretty easy, about 15 minute-wait for the food. Our order was bagged in an insulated takeout bag which is pretty useful (keeps food warm and reuse the bag). We liked the dumplings- signature pork (I preferred this) and crab and pork (with hint of seafood)- small but packed with meat and a sip of broth, flavorful and not salty- although they popped easily. I will pass on the panfried buns - very little filling.

Stopped here for food before a show in Forrest hills. We ordered one noodle dish and a couple of dumplings items. The portion for the noodle is pretty large! Everything came out very hot and fresh. There are only one table and 4 car seats. So it might gets a little tight if you are going there during peak hours! But the location is very convenient.

I stopped here for some lunch and was very indecisive since they had so many great options. The staff were very friendly and patient as I went back and forth about what I wanted, LOL. I opted for the chicken soup dumplings. The restaurant is small but did have a few table and chairs for a quick meal. However, it's more of a takeout spot. Prices were reasonable. I took my food home to eat and was very satisfied with my dumplings. They were nicely seasoned and very fulfilling. I will definitely return to check out some other menu items.

My friend and I ordered the chicken soup dumplings and they were amazing!! I loved the broth and steaminess each bite had. It was enough to fill both of us honestly as a light appetizer snack. There is a kiosk in there so if you aren't feeling too social you can order through there. The workers here are very sweet and accommodating!! My only minus one was that they started to mop the floor as we started to eat and it rubbed my nose the wrong way. It's not their fault but it turned my experience a little salty. But the food is amazing, Im glad they opened up one here in Forest Hills!

Takeout Magic! There are no seats at this post but this take out branch of the original in Flushing nails the target. Nan Xiang is celebrated for having some of the best soup dumplings in the universe and their hotly contested reign continues. There once was a time where restaurants that specialized in this dish were fewer, unlike today where there are many recognized contenders to the crown, totally our gain! Whether you agree or not about who is #1, Nan Xiang has continued to perform well as they have expanded across the city and states, and deserves a spot on the rankings close to the top. Their iteration of a dish that originated in a Shanghai suburb of Nanxiang over 150 years ago, has a pillowy thin skin, easily punctured with the slightest of touch once it leaves the steamer. The "soup" inside, a winter rich and satisfying unctuous broth will definitely change your perception, of whether or not something so small, can be so stick to your bones filling. You will unfortunately need to get on a treadmill after a meal here. I mostly stick to the original, sometimes I'll go with the crab meat version if my taste requires more umami, but these days there are flavor options to taste if you venture off the beaten path. Follow the exact steps on how to enjoy and your tongue will not get roasted by the broth, and more importantly by those around you, who will undoubtedly tag you for being a rookie! While Nan Xiang does have a speciality calling card, they are more than just that, they have great noodles especially the beef noodle soup and dumplings, fried and steamed, meat or veggie dumplings. These days I find myself enjoying more of the other dishes they make which are also very satisfying. For those that with to partake in some healthier options they have non meat dishes and steamed veggie dumplings which are my current favorite. One final word on the soup dumplings is that while this is a mostly takeout restaurant, do not wait very long after you get your order to enjoy the soup dumplings or steamed dumplings as they do not age well. Minutes are like hours for these precious bites and they must be enjoyed as soon as you can get yourself over to the park table and bench nearby. Even a slice of pizza right out of the oven is superior to a slice that has been sitting around for an hour or two!

This was the first time I went to this restaurant and I didn't know what to order. It seemed like a very quick eating small space and I was pleasantly surprised. I had dumplings and I wanted a small meal so it was perfect. It was four chicken dumplings it was cooked fresh And with the sauce that they recommended (sweet soy sauce) it was pleasantly surprisingly delicious. I sat down at the table and enjoyed my four dumplings I wanted more but I was going to the movies so I had to leave room for popcorn. I will go back next time I go to the movies again and try something different. It was delicious. I recommend you go for a quick stop or a meal to take home. People that know we're ordering immediately and taking their food out to eat, so it was very impressive. It was a clean restaurant and the hosts were smiling and very serviceable. I wish I could've taken a picture, but I didn't think of it at the moment. I ate it so quickly because I was hungry and it was so good.

I came here for dinner because it's a new place and I heard amazing things. They also don't cook with sesame oil, which is a good thing for me and my allergy, at least while pregnant. I ordered the shrimp fried udon. It is absolutely delicious! I am so impressed. I had heard amazing things abut this place, so I did set a high bar. I can't wait to come back and try more dishes as well as their soup dumplings and tea. The place is really small. Only has one high top to sit about 6 people so it really does more of a take out business. I was shocked to see that the girl was eating dinner behind the counter and taking orders. I didn't think that was professional. Only reason why 4 and not 5 stars. Servings are very large and food also came out quickly. I'll be back again

Got the pork soup dumplings 9.25 for 6. Overall good, the classic vinegar sauce on the side that usually comes with soup dumpling's was slightly sweet which was unfamiliar to me, and the chewy/doughy skin were the only drawbacks. Cute very small inside with one table and about 4 barstools. Good service only 10 min wait.

Ordered online for pickup. When I got there, there were some people waiting for their orders. I was able to quickly get my order since it was ready. It's definitely a grab and go kinda spot since there isn't much of a seating area. Good food and convenient location. Sadly, they didn't give any sauce for the scallion pancake with beef.

Awesome soup dumpling spot in Forest Hills. There is barely any space in here so don't plan on coming and staying. There are a few seats available but definitely for people to quickly eat and go. Overall if you are in the area, it is a win since you will be eating the soup dumplings quickly. They are very reasonably priced and the quality is great. My only complaint is that their app is very broken. I ordered through the app and my order never went through. I ended up having to order again in store. Luckily if you are going with staples (pork soup dumplings, rice cakes, etc.) it is pretty quick for them to make your food.

Nan Xiang's soup dumplings can now be found in Forest Hills! Just opened today. As the name says, Express, so it's really for takeout only. Though there are a few high stools by the front window. Easy ordering and payment through the self service kiosks, It's a limited menu with just the basics, nothing fancy. Only two types of soup dumplings, basic pork and the pork with crab version. Most of their popular dim sum platters are here. Along with the ever popular scallion pancake. I usually get the pancake with beef version. Very yummy. Another favorite is pan fried pork buns. Billowy soft bread bun filled with juicy pork meatball filling. For those adventurous eaters, the beef tendon and tripe is pretty good, with a flavorful spicy kick. Again. It's mainly for takeout here.

After reading reviews here, I took one reviewer's advice about the wait and decided to order on the website/app. Very easy to do and convenient. I walked into the restaurant and saw a lot of people waiting for their orders at 4:30pm on a Saturday. Busy spot! Food orders are packaged nicely and compact, even their utensils has nice packaging with the appropriate spoon for slurping soup dumplings. Soup dumplings - it's always hard to enjoy takeout soup dumplings because they really are best when fresh and hot. We heated this up and it was still pretty good - fairly thin skin, decent amount of meat and plenty of soup. It comes with the vinegar sauce that has an attached lid - quite helpful when you need to close it on-the-go. Shredded Pork & Potherb Mustard Fried Rice Cake - this is my favorite dish at any Shanghai restaurant so I usually try this at a new place. This dish is probably one of the better ones I've tried compared to Memories of Shanghai in the neighborhood. The rice cake is cooked better and there is a ton more vegetables in this dish. Four Happiness Sponge Tofu - a cold dish with spongey tofu and mushroom in a nice glazed type of sauce. It's quite delicious and a light dish to share. Braised Beef Noodle Soup - another popular Shanghai dish. It's good here but I do like the beef at Memories of Shanghai more. It's more tender and less veiny. I like that they separate the noodles from the soup and beef in this meal so I could actually give the kids some noodles before it's dumped into the spicy broth. It's pricier here but the quality is there. I like the ease of ordering via website/app and have yet to see how redemption of 100 points will work. I like the simple recyclable packaging.. Overall the food was good. It's an extremely convenient location for anyone who exits the train station a few steps away.

I've been going to their Flushing restaurant since it was the original, tiny dining room, so I was very excited to see this satellite location announced. I patiently waited during construction and then gave them a week to get the opening jitters out... And...it's amazing! I'd give four stars simply because I can get Kao Fu (called Four Happiness Sponge Tofu here) without traveling to Flushing, but everything else that my family tried was great too. Special note about the packaging: they use a cool technique for their pan fried noodle dishes where the noodles stay dry and crispy until you're ready to eat them. I was really wondering how they would do that as a takeout dish. They nailed it. Psyched to have another truly authentic Chinese spot in the neighborhood! Yum.

The place just opened and since we're a big fan of the restaurant in Flushing we knew we had to try it. So my son put in two orders of xiao long bao, scallion pancakes with beef, beef fried udon and beef pan fried crispy noodle. It took awhile to get the order and in total cost almost $60. But boy was it all good! The xiao long bao is as good if not better than the one in Flushing, thin skin, lots of filling and soup (although still not as thin as Kung Fu Xiao Long Bao). The scallion pancake with beef was quite substantial and tasty. The noodles were both good as well. My husband who doesn't usually like noodles was quite satisfied with the pan fried noodle. So although it's expensive it's quite delicious and deserves the hype.

Was so excited that this place was opening in Forest Hills. I even went to it two weeks ago but I was given bad info that said it was opened so was looking forward to coming back when it opens. So we saw it was actually opened so here we go. Knowing that it was not a sit down place, we made sure we made it a stop that was going to go straight home with no stops in between so the food would be as hot as possible. So here goes: Food gets 3 stars. We ordered 2 orders of plain soup dumplings and one order of crab dumplings. They were flavorful because of the soup. The eight minute walk to get home resulted in it being deflated already. We also got the scallion pancakes and although it was crispy, it had barely any scallions so it was just fried flour. A disappointment . We also ordered the Shanghai Fried Udon which was good. And my favorite item was the Four Happiness Sponge Tofu which was a sweetened dish. The tab came out to be $60. Service gets 1-1/2 stars. The server was not nice to us at all. She was nice to certain people and down right RUDE to others. If you're a new place and want it to be successful, one of the key components will be hospitality. So it appears that this may be a sign of things to work on for long term success. Server should also include more than two packages of utensils with this size order. At least ask how many packages is needed.

Don't be fooled by the word "Express" this place has good quality take out. First off the place is clean and the seating is limited. There's only 4 bar stools that face Queens Blvd. You also have the choice of ordering from the touch screen or the counter. The fried shrimp udon was tasty and it also has the right portion of bok choy which was surprising since it's a take out place. The fried udon noodles were chewy and this dish just fulfilled my noodle craving. They also included a good portion of shrimp so the price was worth. I would also point out that it wasn't as oily compared to other establishments. When you have a soup dumpling craving and you don't have time to go to Chinatown, this place will fulfill your craving. The soup has a nice tasting broth but I felt like they could have added more juice in there. I like my soup dumpling juicy.

TLDR: just come for the soup dumplings or crispy noodles The service is relatively quick with a convenient location next to an Asian bakery. The soup dumplings were good. Everything else seemed to be a bit lacking in flavor. The overall vibe of the place is nice. It's small and made to grab and go.

Cute stumble upon in Forest Hills just steps from the F train at 71 & Continental. Seating is limited. Space is compact but nicely appointed. We opted to eat in. Food was bought out to us, which was a pleasant surprise. I don't make it out to this neck of the woods too often, but I will definitely keep this place in mind. The dumplings are delicious. And the shredded beef has dh quiet and happy.

While in the passage of my travels hunger pangs occur and I was very elated that Nan Xiang recently opened a satellite location in Forest Hills, Queens. This location's setup is primary for takeout, and delivery as there is minimal seating designed for the New York fast paced culture of on-the-go. Window ledge seating on high chairs is very limited and on a first-come, first served basis. I ordered my default Shanghainese steamed soup pork dumplings 小籠包 (xiao3 long2 bao1) of $7.55 which were juicy in broth and enticing. Sadly, with economic shrinkage there are now six (6) pieces rather than the traditional eight (8) pieces. It was served piping hot that I burnt my mouth. Soy sauce is automatically accompanied in my order. Order fulfillment waiting time of twenty minutes is average for Shanghainese steamed soup dumplings. The takeout menu is very cute and adorable with cartoon animated drawing of little Shanghainese steamed soup pork dumplings walking along the charming Tudor style Forest Hills LIRR station in the background. Business cards are readily available for grabs. Three stars for customer service is apathetic and nonchalant when requesting a sales receipt a Asian man, insolent, hostile, antagonistic and easily agitated, with a rude scowl stolid remark: "pay first and you get the receipt!" Another incident I witnessed while consuming my measly Shanghainese steamed soup pork dumplings at a window ledge seating, a young woman walk-in inquiring job opportunities and this same apathetic man snidely responded "give me your phone number and I'll give it to the manager!!" This woman appeared in professional attire who randomly walk-in in hopes of attaining a job lead to combat 2023's high economic inflation, but departed utterly dispirited. (I was once exactly like her in my young adult years with resume and references, including dressed in professional business attire, in tow). How about a warmer and compassionate response: "kindly complete a job application and/or leave a copy of your resume and I'll forwarded it to the manager." ALL resumes have phone numbers listed, you insolent apathetic antagonistic dude, as he has zero customer skills and incompetent with patience and intolerant with empathy and compassion! I am a avid patron of Nan Xiang in Flushing, Queens and always enjoy the food, but the customer service in this Forest Hills, Queens location is appalling horrific. Utter dismay.

Noodles were cold and lacking flavor, beef dumplings were okay, grapefruit tea was the best part. Wouldn't go again.

During their first few months of grand opening, I thought their food was standard and the wow factor was lacking. I've recently decided to try this place out again and I'm not sure if they changed chefs or they've just perfected their dishes, but everything tastes delicious! I find myself craving their spicy wontons a lot. The texture of the skin and the flavorful spicy peanut butter sauce gives it a nice kick. The fried chives and soup dumplings are recommended also. Definitely give this place a try-- you won't regret it!
