Love that Nana is in our neighborhood. Their tacos are excellent, authentic. I love guacamole and make it myself at home, picky about guacamole. Nana makes great guacamole. Try the carne asada burrito. I dream about this burrito. Lovely staff.

So, I want to tell you that I had THE best mole sauce in Baltimore, hands down, at Nana. A little part of me also wants to keep it a secret because, well, I’m selfish with my good finds at times so they don’t get crowded. But I want them to stay around so I need you all to go buy their food. Just save me a seat! Seriously, do yourself a favor and try any dish they have on the menu with the mole sauce made by the talented chef and owner of this spot. It’s not that crappy heavy chocolate taste some try to pass off as mole. We also had a burrito. The steak in that bad boy was full of flavor with a hint of smokiness. Divine! For dessert, (yes don’t judge, there was still room for dessert) we had the churros which were dropped when ordered so they may take a few minutes to come out but are so worth a short wait. Talk about heavenly sweetness but not overbearing. Only thing missing at that point was a strong coffee, a good espresso. Seriously, everything was delicious. Everyone was welcoming and friendly, and the restaurant as a whole including the seating areas were very clean and comfortable. Note that it’s a small eating area with tall bar style seating so be warned that they can get crowded during peak hours and isn’t a restaurant with wait service or reservations. However, there are seats outside as well and designated parking spots for carryout. Oh, and the prices? Excellent for whet you get. Only suggestion is to allow us the option to tip more than the service fee charged, to show our appreciation. But I get it, creating a delicious meal for an affordable price is tough in this economy so the reasonable prices even with a service fee is appreciated.

First time trying Nana and it was fantastic! We ordered a whole chicken (bichis) + 3 sides (roasted potatoes, roasted cauliflower, and red rice). Plus we got a side of beans, and I can never pass on flautas so we got those, too! The chicken was juicy and well marinated. It comes cut into quarters, easy for dividing! All the sides were delicious, but the beans were probably my favorite, so much flavor. Ordering online was easy, and I did it through Uber Eats because your first 2 orders are 40% off with the code NANA40. So excited to have this new local restaurant in the neighborhood!

The food was delicious. The service was great. I didn't realize it was only counter service. But they have a long counter where you can sit and they bring your food. The grilled hot dog wrapped with bacon was DELICIOUS!

One word Maaaaaaarone! So glad this gem of a spot has opened. Literally everything is made on site and the menu has many different ways to eat many different foods- it’s a fun menu to revisit. The flour tortillas are so good I want to buy a stack to replace my pillows. The meats are flavorful and the vegan options are actually on par with the meat offerings. The space was cute and warm and welcoming. Going back soon!

Was so excited to try out Nana after having been to and enjoyed Clavel so many times and it did not disappoint. I had the smothered Al Pastor Torta and the Churros and both were spectacular but the torta probably my favorite. Great spot for a quick lunch or dinner and will definitely be back.

I was really looking forward to this place but I have been disappointed after giving them a fair shake. I definitely want them to stick around and work some things out since we need more places like this in the neighborhood. That being said, I’ve been to Nana 5 times and every time but the first, my order was incorrect and/or not very good. The first time I went on opening week, the food was pretty good, if a little bland. I thought they’d get better once they hit the swing of things. Unfortunately every subsequent time I’ve been in, and tried other menu items I’ve been less impressed. When ordering tacos to go, make sure to check your order before leaving, I’ve been given the wrong fillings multiple times. And the new rice bowl I found to be almost inedible as the rice is so bland, overcooked and oily. I wouldn’t really recommend the burrito either, since it’s also made with the same very overcooked rice, and is mostly mushy. I think in general more salt, spice and some kind of sauce could help the food a lot. I really loved the chipotle chicken salad I had once there, but it hasn’t been on the menu since and I love the quesadillas because the added moisture and flavor of the cheese really helps.

The best steak tacos and churros I’ve ever had!! I would recommend this place to anyone. The vibes in there are amazing the staff was so sweet. Definitely going to go back. They are also BYOB!

Solid first experience with Nana after having this one on my to try list for awhile! I ordered takeout for dinner after a busy day in clinic. The ordering process was seamless via Toast but the pickup experience didn't quite match. I waited at the counter for nearly 15min staring at my takeout bag on the back counter before anyone helped me. Thankfully the food made up for the frustrating wait! I ordered the cauliflower and potato burrito (smothered style) with a side of the roasted brussels sprouts. The sprouts were nicely roasted with a balanced tender but not mushy texture and simple salt and pepper seasoning. The burrito was absolutely elevated by the mole sauce, which was one of the best that I've tasted in a while. Rich, evolving, with a slow subtle spice. The burrito filling left a little to be desired--the cauliflower paired well with the potato, but I got barely any beans or salsa. Overall, hard to measure up to its sibling Clavel, but Nana seems to be holding its own as a tasty more casual offshoot that I'd happily revisit.

I really want to love Nanas because Clavel is my absolute favorite restaurant, but somehow this has just missed the mark for me. I've been to Nanas twice to see if I feel any different than the first time around but that has yet to happen. I love the decor and ambiance of Nanas which is warm and inviting. And the service has been great both times. But the tacos I feel lack in flavor. The chicken taco was just ok, and the al pastor I found to be mushy which was weird. However, the carne asada was pretty good, as well as the beans, though they could dial it back on the onions a bit. I also feel the price point for the size of the tacos is a bit much. Two tacos and an order of beans came to about $17 with the included gratuity they add. Needless to say I left and was still hungry. I think Nanas is in a good location to offer great tacos in the county area, and I'd love to frequent more often, but I'm still on the fence about the food. I do plan on going back to try one of their hot dogs because they sound pretty tasty.

I have given this review a lot of thought as I absolutely love Clavel. The location of this restaurant is excellent, with easy access and a good amount of parking nearby; it is easy to go during the day for a quick lunch. The staff were friendly and you can see them working hard while we ate our lunch. The place is bright, but it could have better seating options. The food: the guacamole and chips at the beginning were marvelous; the portion is very generous. I ordered a pork al pastor taco and although it had good taste, it was just okay. The burrito just lacked brightness and needed some acid. I suggest the owner to add some tomatoes or pickled onions or something of the sort to brighten it up. I did love the fact that it had guacamole and that the food came with what I thought was tomatillo sauce. I believe the food is constantly being re-worked (as I saw in a previous comment) so I can't wait to return and try the food again. I did see they have whole chickens which I would like to try at another time.

We stopped here, while in neighborhood. The service was excellent. Real Mexican food, very authentic. The place was very clean. Great parking. I will go again.

I've been here twice. I remember enjoying the food here the first time when we dined in. Cool little space with bar and window seating. I remember not having enough guac and being handed extra free of charge. Nice staff. We ordered takeout the second time, most recently. Tried taking advantage of their Tuesday/happy hour specials but unfortunately was late. I ordered the pulled chicken burrito, some carne asada tacos and the whole chicken. The only issue with takeout in general, especially with the food being delivered to Baltimore City, is that the food was lukewarm. Regardless, the burrito was flavorful and I fully enjoyed it. Liked the guac. Only thing I could do without are the carrots. I normally don't see carrots in a burrito. The carne asada tacos were good as well. The chicken was also tasty. When I ate the rest the next day, I air fried it and the skin got crispy and made it even tastier. We will be back. Most likely in person.

We are so excited to have another local eatery in the neighborhood, and a taqueria! How special. We stopped by on a weekend and were able to get a seat. The food was good, staff were great. The kitchen was non-stop. I look forward to their evolving menu and dropping back in. It's important to note - we ordered churros and they deserve a moment. They were light and airy. Delicious. They are not overwhelming, so I'd recommend not passing on them. Best churros I've ever had, and I've tried many. They get their own rating 10/10!

Excited for this new spot and really hoping it does well. My first experience was mixed. The staff were amazing the place is cute, small, but inviting nonetheless. I came in intending to ordered 3 tacos (chicken, al pastor, and carne asada), and some churros but ended up also getting 2 of their special items chips and guac and a homemade fruit drink that I'm regretting not writing down what it was made up of. The drink chips and guac were all premade so I dug in while waiting for my order and they were both pretty tasty. When the tacos arrive they were surprisingly just ok. I ate about half of each one before I found myself slathering on some guacamole to punch up the flavor. The churros took a while which was fine because it gave me time to eat my app and main but was shockingly undercooked and mushy in the inside when they finally arrived. Totally inedible. I was surprised when I couldn't pick one up right away and realized I was given a fork. That didn't help with the outside lightly crisp and the center a creamy mess it just fell apart. It's likely it just needed more time in the fryer. Either way I had to get back to work and everyone was so kind I didn't want to complain and just threw em out. I'm definitely still rooting for this place and hoping they dial up the flavor and get a good handle on their churros. I'll give it a while and then give it another shot.

Love to see and support new businesses in the area! The York Road area is certainly a great walkable spot, with several small business along the road. Nana is a cute little taqueria / mostly takeout spot from the esteemed chef Carlos Raba of the cult classic, Clavel. While the service was friendly, the food was just a little above average. We opted for the carne asada and pork al pastor tacos ($5 each), a chicken quesadilla, and a side of rice ($6). Our favorite was the quesadilla by far, however it was pretty small for being $10. Overall, honestly all of the prices seemed pretty steep for the portion size. For $6, I could probably make five times the size of the side of rice we received at home. Unfortunately, with Nana's pretty limited menu and steep prices, I can't see us returning for more. However, we are wishing them all the success and have no doubts that they will continue the success after selling out their first two nights in a row and being very busy when we stopped by!

Went to check out newly opened Nana. Our group of 4 + baby couldn't find a seat in the busy restaurant on a Friday night so we got takeout. Food: We tried several items - chicken taco, cauliflower/potato taco, carne asada quesadilla, chicken quesadilla, dogo, and the special of the day. Flavors were delicious. Quesadilla size was surprisingly small. Wanted to try the al pastor and churros but they had unfortunately run out by the time we went at 7 pm on Friday. The 'dogo' (hot dog) was the unexpected fan favorite, so don't skip it. The special of the day was the chipotle chicken salad (didn't snap a pic) - also delicious.

The long awaited Nana is open! We came in for lunch and it's a bustling place, with lots of friendly chatter and locals coming and going. The food comes out fast and the limited seating turns over quickly. We ordered tacos, quesadillas, chicken salad and a side of the cauliflower. I tried the pork al pastor with the pineapple quesadilla and it was delicious! The portions are street food sized, unless you get the smothered torta, it was huge and looked amazing! Definitely coming back for one of those and an order of churros. The staff is very friendly and interact with the customers, answering questions, calling out orders and then chatting. There's a very neighborhood feel even though it's only just opened. We're very glad the wait is over!

LOVED this place! Chef Juan (Clavel) has whipped up this place and it's a great grab-and-go spot. There is some seating available, but not as much. The tacos were good, but the winning dish was definitely the tacos! The food is a little on the pricier side, but quality is top notch. You order at the counter, and then they make your food. Definitely recommend!

I ordered 3 taco meats (did not order the cauliflower). The Al pastor and carne asada tacos were great but the chicken taco was mediocre. I'm glad they added lime to our on top. I asked for salsa verde and they gave it to me for free which was nice. The tortillas were very good, probably the strongest aspect of the tacos. The service was fast and friendly staff. The ambiance was good with cool cacti, but be aware that there's no seating other than bar-style seating.

When my supervisor gave me reigns to select the lunch spot for our meeting I knew exactly where we were headed. If you've been to Clavel, the beautiful restaurant that is also the owners then you know this will only be another amazing experience. I arrived when they first opened and there was already a few customers which let me know my theory was accurate. I ordered the half chicken "biches" style with a side of potatoes and the cactus salad- AMAZING! The flavors of the chicken were perfect, everything was fresh and you could tell the meal was cooked with love. I also got the Jamaica drink which was so refreshing. I will definitely be back!

Habanero salsa is great. Elote is great. Housemade horchata is great. This is so much closer to the taquerias I miss from living in California than anything in Baltimore, including those in Patterson Park/Upper Feels area. Service incredibly warm as well.

Food: I had the dogo full out my friend had the tacos so this is a honest review no matter what I'm gonna give ya the RAW UNCUT truth the dogo was lacking several things good concept the roasted potatoes lacking lacking sorry the tacos are very average but I understand they are catering to a certain audience so if you can read between the lines I hope they tweak things Service : the beautiful Costa Rican woman was super nice amazing and full of life and I appreciate that I believe the power or manager was so into the ........ he didn't even greet us or show any love oh well his lost moving right along Ambiance : very nice clean and dope little spot and great location

Came in late towards closing and got the Torta Al Pastor and the Dogo (all the way). We also got the nopales salad and a rice pudding. Everything was so good, and the staff were really kind despite use showing up so late! Would highly recommend especially for those looking for a more casual experience compared to Clavel

It should be so good! But sorry it's mid all around. Chicken Rico has prob twice as good rotisserie and papis has twice as good tacos. I wish this wasn't the case but for me it is. So close to my house and I was super excited. Don't get me wrong it fine. Yeh it's fine that's best I can do.

Such a nice restaurant owner! And the food is great! He really cares about the people who come through his door. I said, "that was great!" The grandkid said, "and so was the owner."

Friendly staff, quick service but very limited seating option. They do add a service fee of 12% on all orders as well at the counter service, so keep that in mind as you look at the menu prices. I got guacamole and chips to start, the pre-made guacamole was good, but you only get a small chip bag with it. Out of the three tacos I tried I would recommend the carne asada taco over the roasted chicken taco and cauliflower taco.

I ordered the chicken burrito and guacamole and chips. I found my meal mediocre at best. It's in walking distance so that is a benefit.

Had I written this review two months ago, I would have given it 5 stars but my most recent order made me downgrade this place. The beans continue to be delicious - as a vegetarian, I appreciate them greatly even if they are priced on the high side. I usually order the cauliflower and potato tacos but I tried their new bowl. The first time was delicious with the cauliflower nice and crisp. However, the second time was sub-par: the cauliflower seemed to have been boiled it was so mushy. Moreover, the potatoes seem to have come from those that had been dipped in the roasting chicken drippings making the dish no longer vegetarian. I want to continue encouraging a Towson business and will likely order again but I hope the restaurant pays more attention to consistency and freshness.

I placed a large order yesterday for 2 chickens, tortillas, guacamole and salsa, and a lot of sides for a gathering for friends at our home, including adults and children. Our neighbors, my husband and I loved Nana's food. We created a taco bar/ buffet of sorts. The two kinds of chicken were so flavorful, the beans were spiced in a subtle and delicious way, and roasted vegetables perfectly spiced. Everyone was so happy at the end of the meal. Thank you Nana's! Run do not walk to this place!

Carry out. Food was ready promptly. Everything was a touch too salty, but ok. I ordered the cauliflower and potato burrito, *smothered, without crema and queso. The mole was excellent, but not enough. Also the burrito needed more sauce/salsa, pickled onions and more guacamole. I realize it was drier because of no dairy, but more salsa and guacamole would have made this so much better. Cactus salad was good, needed more garlic. Husbands beans and rice burrito was ordered (and paid for) *smothered. It was not. Otherwise he liked it. I ordered the elote loco corn for my daughter without the crumbled Taki on top. From what I could find online, Takis are a brand of Mexican chips. In the picture on the menu, the toping is orange, so I imagined that it is like crumbled Doritos. The corn was bland. It is surprising that the seasoning was all supposed to come from the chips on top. At least some cilantro would have been good. I did not taste lime either. The beans were good. Adding vegetarian flautas to the menu would be great. In general, everything needed more sauces and salsa and definitely more cilantro. I have hopes for this place and will order again. I know now to order everything with more sauces/salsa/ cilantro. *smothered means with the addition of mole sauce, pickled onions, queso and crema.

12% service charge on all orders! Mundane food and small portions and market prices. No wonder it was empty at lunchtime. What a shame.

Delicious handmade flour tortillas make for tasty quesadillas and tacos. I opted for the quesadilla with potatoes and cauliflower, which hit the spot. However, it was a bit on the small size given the price and as others have mentioned, there is an automatic 12% gratuity added to the charge that really doesn't make sense unless you sit at the limited seating at the bar. That said, there isn't a lot of seating overall, so don't count on a spot.

We've been twice. Super expensive for a tiny amount of food that was just not that good. Part of the expense was a full bottle of coke which was $5 and that explains part of it. Both times I got a taco that I wasn't that thrilled with. We stopped because it's close to my school. Over $20 each time. My taco probably had a quarter pound of meat.

The chicken is amazing. Try the beans or the roasted potatoes, you won't be disappointed. Their sauces are great too. Definitely recommend!

I was really excited to read about Nana in the newspaper and was finally able to give it a try. The location is great for locals, for those of us driving, parking is limited. The decor and staff were excellent but I did not love the tacos. We were a family of 3 each ordering 2 tacos. I gave the order to the cashier specifically saying he will have this and this, my wife this, and I'll have this. The order came out in bulk, all grouped together so had to get extra containers and separate I thought the chicken taco was very dry, and the pork over seasoned. I wish them luck as it is a nice place to have in the neighborhood, but the food is not wow.

I just tried this place. I ordered a steak torta, roasted cauliflower and a chicken quesadilla. I don't know if it was my high expectations from clavel or what but this isn't it! The steak from the torta was well seasoned but that's it... the bread was cold and overall I would rate this item 4/10. The quesadilla had the tortilla that clavel uses but the chicken and whatever sauce they use were just not working for me. The only thing that was well seasoned out of these items and that I would eat again is the roasted cauliflower. The service was quick and the woman at the cashier was nice and efficient, the ambiance looked cool. They have a few Parking spaces. However, If you're expecting clavel's taste then I suggest going to clavel because you will not find that here.

Hands down one of the most delicious burritos I've ever had! The space is clean and adorable and the staff was so friendly and professional. Highly recommend.

Wow...so disappointed. Thought this place would be good because Clavel is awesome. Got a half chicken with beans and rice...no flavor. I could make better food. the beans were mostly juice with a few actual beans in it. Rice was overcooked and not like red rice I've had. Barely enough for two people. Maybe the tacos are better, but all of this was bland. So sad...

I recently dined at "Nana"and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. While the tacos weren't bad, they certainly didn't justify the high prices. The quesadilla, priced at double the cost of a taco, was disappointingly small. One saving grace was the homemade tortillas, which added a nice touch to the meal. However, the counter-style service, while efficient for a quick meal was not worth that they automatically add a 12% service fee. I don't think it is fair. Overall, I do not think I will come back. I had a lot better "taquerias" 100% authentic than this place....

The service was great. The food soso. The chicken al pastor was very tasty. The sides not so much. Not accepting cash was a drag.

The staff was extremely friendly, the food just so-so, and kind of high-priced, particularly the small, $10 quesadilla. Doubt if we will return. A few notes: Cash is not accepted, a practice that is illegal in many states -- not yet in Maryland, but hopefully it will be soon. Automatic 12% service appreciation fee (neither staff nor menu board informed us of that detail). Finally, customers will not be issued cups of water if they request them.

It's important to know this is more of a take away spot. Very limited seating. I had an Al pastor quesadilla which was very good. But the churros were only so so.

this place was great- my kids who are usually picky eaters thought it was fabulous. the churros and rice pudding were absolutely amazing. got a full chix to take home for dinner and it was incredible

They will not give cups of water. Unless you happened to bring your own water (or other non-alcoholic drink), you must purchase a bottled drink. I find that greedy and won't be back because of it. We had several tacos and two tortas, none of which any of us loved. That aside, the staff is very friendly. I wish their business well, but we don't plan to return.

Like many others, I was counting the days until Nana opened and am glad it has. I can't accurately comment on the ambiance. We had our infant granddaughter with us for lunch, and one peek inside at the crowded high tops let us know that there wouldn't be enough space for a high chair. That aside, we returned to get takeout for dinner--rotisserie chicken with sides. As advertised, everything was tasty-- but everyone around the table agreed that the price point is exorbitant. Whether we're considering the $5 tacos or most everything else on the menu, I think that Nana's management needs to evaluate the pricing. I'd like to have them in the neighborhood for the long haul--maybe long enough to be able to get a liquor license.

Very good! Limited menu but delicious and there are vegetarian options. Very small space with few seats, recommend ordering takeout ahead of time and picking up. They charge 12% service fee which is shared among the staff. We had dry (no sauce) vegetarian torta (potatoes and cauliflower with spices and a pickled japaleno on the side, very good), dry pork torta (my son said it was good), chicken tacos (daughter liked it), churros (very good, not quite as crisp as I prefer but very good--not overly oily or sweet), rice pudding (kind of dense and a little hard but good flavor, not too sweet, we warmed it up a little and it became softer). We also ordered a small side of rice and a small side of beans but didn't have room to eat them yet. We were also interested in ordering their roast chicken (they had whole, half, or quarter), but it didn't seem to be available. Chef is from Sinaloa and also runs Clavel. Worth a return visit!

Stopped in for the first time tonight. Bright and cheerful inside with exclusively counter seating. We were there fairly early and had no trouble getting a seat, but it filled up fast, so keep that in mind when timing your visit if you want to eat in. Between us we had a combination of chicken and carne asada tacos, a quesadilla, and red rice. Everything was good. I thought the chicken was more flavorful and recommend it over the carne asada. There was a manager (I think he said) working up front who was EXTREMELY kind to my very talkative daughter, he really made it a nice visit. Thank you!

Best torta I've had anywhere on the east or west coast. Beans and rice were also amazing and had great flavor.

This place is absolutely amazing. I could eat here 6 days a week and be a happy man.

Clevel is one of my favorite restaurants in the city which is why i was so excited to try this place. But don't go here expecting Clavel quality food. The al pastor was mushy, the chicken was dry and tasted off, and the Torta was just mush. The carne asada was good though. At this price point and with their connection to clavel i was expecting it to be a lot better
