Smallish 100+ year old theater that was renovated in 2019. To be honest we thought the interior decor was a bit cartoonish and it didn't reflect the art deco style of the exterior. The isles were very wide and the seats were very narrow with not much leg room. We were very disappointed that the rooftop bar wasn't open on the Saturday night we attended a concert there.

Google
Great theatre in the heart of Clearwater. Under 800 seats makes for a cozy setting for any event. The staff is friendly and helpful even when letting in those that were entering 10 minutes after the show started (15 minutes after the event time on the ticket). Let's bring theater etiquette back! Nice venue and was able to find parking close by for free.

Google
Had a absolutely wonderful time. This venue is the perfect size for a enjoyable concert. And the staff is beyond great. They are helpful and the most polite people I have ever had the pleasure to meet.

We saw Damien Escobar there. Great venue. If spending a great time with one of your favorite musicians in an intimate setting is your passion, this is the place. Its close to some fabulous places to eat too. We loved it and recommend it

Google
I performed here and I loved the design of the theater; cozy green room, friendly staff, and great snacks and drinks provided!

Google
Hubby and I have attended more than a dozen concerts at the Capital Theater. We are big fans of the Classic Albums Live franchise frequently presented there. However, this was by far the best cover band we have ever seen / heard; CREAM OF CLAPTON. Lead guitarist / vocalist is Eric Clapton's nephew, the drummer is a current member of his band. Both have his blessing covering his music. Their show is not to be missed!

Google
What a wonderful small venue theater the capital is plenty of restaurants all the way around decent parking when you go security is very good everything to say about the capital theater always enjoyed it we've gone there this year so far about four different times and we're going next month and the month after to new concerts

I am amazed with how beautifully this 104-year-old theatre is maintained. The cleanliness makes everything so comfortable. The history can be seen everywhere from the architecture to the gorgeous classic movie posters along the stairwell to the adorable tiles with tiny glamorous ladies on them. The theatre itself makes you feel like you're in a classic movie! The attendants are so friendly. Everywhere was beautiful to look at, and considering that this was my very first visit on my very first Craig Ferguson show (hilarious!), Craig himself only added to the beauty of it all! Thank you for such a lovely experience!!

Yelp
The Capitol Theatre is a treasure - more so since extensive upgrades in 1981 and 2013. I've lived in Florida since 1959, and this theater was originally for movies. Now it hosts musical acts, podcasters, movies and more! We recently attended THE HIDDEN BRAIN's podcast live taping, hosted by WUSF 89.7FM. It was a fabulous experience. We parked down the street, and it was free. The ushers and security personnel were friendly & efficient. The seats were comfortable, it was easy to see the stage from the back of the house, & the temperature was perfect inside (blazing hot outside). The ladies room had 6 or 7 stalls, and it seemed as if all of us women were able to use the facilities and return to our seats in the time allotted for the intermission. We did not purchase food or drinks, but a wide selection of each was available in the lobby areas, and adequately staffed. Prices seemed reasonable. This theatre is affiliated with Ruth Eckerd Hall. When purchasing tickets, you can save money on fees by buying tickets at their box office instead of online or by phone.

Yelp
It's a small venue and very clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are clean and had quite a few stalls to accommodate several patrons. The sound in this theater is great and the light show is nice. I hope to see another show here in the future.

Yelp
This is an amazing venue. It's not very large, which is nice. It was built in the 1920's and has that classic Art Deco style. I love it. The theater is nice and clean. Beautifully decorated inside. It has a few loge boxes on the walls and when I first saw them, my mind instantly went back in time to when I was a kid watching the Muppet Show and laughing at the two old men sitting in their loge box making fun of everything. We went to go see The Pineapple Thief. One of my all time favorite bands. This is the second time I've seen them live.

Yelp
I performed here and loved the friendly staff, nice design of the theater, and cozy green room with great snacks and drinks. I highly recommend it!

Yelp
Wonderful small venue that only seats 776 people which equates to visually and auditory excellence ---

Yelp
Ambiance . Feels like a trip back in time for the interior when people tended to be smaller, however ai like the ambiance

Yelp
What a beautiful place. Ample parking, food and drink in and close by for all. Easy to get to as well.

Yelp
We had a great time here tonight! Loved loved loved Ian Bagg!!!!Laughed our butts off! Staffed very well, great experience all in all! Seats are nice, everything was awesome! Even parking, plenty! We hope to come again!

Yelp
I went to a show for the first time here. Absolutely beautiful venue!! All the employees were very pleasant! My only recommendation is to serve drinks more than hour and half during show. It's a tight fit for seating so try and get an aisle seat if you don't like close quarters.
google avatar

Yelp
Cute, intimate theatre. Chairs are ok-not super luxurious but not sitting on a spring either. I can't comment on the acoustics as we were there for a comedy show not a concert. The alcohol menu is pathetic - only bottom shelf. Prices are high but as expected for these venues.

Kristie M.

Yelp
Worst concert experience ever! Youngest people in the crowd so treated like crap by fans and managemnt because old people complained. management literally told us not to sing along with the songs. How can u get in trouble for singing along with the music???? Most uptight crowd ever! It's a concert! The ushers were all great!
google avatar

STEVE B.

Yelp
We saw the Celtic Angels on their opening night in Clearwater. Loved the show, thought the acoustics were good and the seats reasonably comfortable. Bar drinks on the expensive side, restrooms clean and large enough to handle intermission crowds and plenty of ushers to get people to their seats. Fun to meet some of the cast post show. Great evening.

Yelp
Saw Victor Wooten perform the other night. What an amazing show! He was playing with another bassist who uses a six string fretless bass, and also a drummer. The Capitol is an intimate venue with a mezzanine level, and private booths - a very memorable evening.
google avatar

Yelp
Small venue, but we enjoyed intimacy of show. Wish parking was closer , husband has cardiac issues so we walk slow . Took us a bit longer to walk a few blocks to venue.

Yelp
This place could be so much better. K & I went to see The Fab Four which was an outstanding performance. When you buy your tickets ahead of time, they are held at Will Call although there is no sign in any of the ticket windows that indicate that. As you enter, you go through Security in 2 stages. There is someone that checks the ladies bags and for men they want you to empty your pockets. You leave your stuff at the table, then you go and get 'wanded' then you go back and get your stuff. You hope that no one takes it while you are getting wanded. They don't have digital ticket ability so you have to use a hard copy ticket. So, there is someone at the door visually checking your ticket. As you enter the auditorium, there is someone checking your ticket again. If you get there early and go to your seat, you're going to exit the same door as the people who are coming in...brilliant right? There are dozens of people cruising around in their electric carts and all trying to get in the same door as everyone else. I guess it's not possible to use one of the many doors for those in the carts. There is adequate free parking that's easily accessable

Yelp
My second time here. We were fifth row center. Nice theatre. Part of Ruth Eckard. Holds about 800 people. Has balcony seating not a bad view to be had. Back side seats seem tighter and smaller than front. Recamend !!

Yelp
An amazing date night experience. My girlfriend bought me tickets to a show and dinner. To start if you purchase the dinner and show package they are aligned with a restaurant that is directly across the street Clear Sky on Cleveland. The restaurant food was amazing, had great selections, and the wait staff while busy was very attentive. If you do purchase the dinner and show package you are confined to a limited menu(next time will do separate because the regular menu looks out of this world) but included soup/salad; and I believe it was five or six different entrées. The theater itself is like going back into time. It's a small venue much of that would've reminded me of being at a show in the 1920s. It provided a very up close and personal feeling that you cannot get at an amphitheater or arena. We will definitely be looking for future shows/acts to see if this establishment

Yelp
I am a big fan of historic theaters so I was interested in seeing the Cap. Parking is basically free in most parts of downtown Clearwater after dark so that is a plus. The downtown area is pretty quiet after dark too so do some advance research on where you can get a bite to eat or drink (we went to Tony's across the street.) We were here for a Lewis Black show and it was sold out so, shoulder to shoulder in the seats but I have sat in worse. The theater is not as beautiful as the Tampa Theatre, but it isn't bad. every seat in the house most likely has a good view as it is not that big of a venue. We had seats in the middle of the balcony. Perfect view. One thing we noticed was there are several boxes on the balcony level, each box seats four. We would consider getting those tickets to a show in the future because it seems more roomy. I think those boxes are also wheelchair accessible if there is an elevator upstairs. One cool accent I found was in the women's room upstairs. There were tiles painted with little ladies on them (see pictures.) I thought it was cool. The bathroom has plenty of stalls and was very clean. There is a bar upstairs, which is nice that you don't have to go downstairs for drinks, but I would suggest that when it is a sold out show, they should have more than one person working it. Also, they have a popcorn maker up there but they apparently don't make popcorn in it. The ushers were nice and helpful. We wanted to check out the rooftop deck before the show and we thought it served food but it doesn't and it wasn't open. I would certainly see another show here if they had an act I wanted to see. They are managed by Ruth Eckerd and I think they do a good job booking acts that are popular among the older crowd.

Yelp
Recently saw David Brighton space oddity / David Bowie tribute concert. Band was good, and I would give them four stars, but the facility and crowd control was terrible. I expected better etiquette from the concertgoers, mainly, show respect to the band by being in your seat on time and staying in your seat, unless a dire need and take your break during the 20 minute intermission... The seating arrangement was not angled enough for shorter people like me, and with big heads in the way. We moved over to empty seats. Dozens of people were showing up late and dozens more were getting up and walking out throughout the whole concert getting drinks, and doing what else I don't know. People were standing up and dancing, and there was never an announcement in the beginning to silent your cell phones. some cell phones were ringing, and people were standing up and should go to the back if they want to dance. The hallway aisle to the restrooms is very narrow. I smelled turpentine or paint and wondered if some work was done that day. Overall not a good experience in this venue. Maybe close the bar before concert starts and open for 10 minutes during break. Choose Largo, Eckherd, or Pinellas Park for better run shows.

Yelp
The theater is beautiful. I heard they recently renovated, but as this was my first visit here, I can't speak as to what was changed. However, the lighting fixtures in the lobby were absolutely stunning. They had a cool 1920s art deco water fountain on the wall that they had preserved. Bathroom was small, but clean and quaint. Seats were comfortable, and leg room was decent. I'm so pleased that Clearwater has managed to save at least one piece of its history. The theater is fairly small, with a left, middle, and right section of seats, all divided by aisles. There is a small balcony, and also about six small boxes to view the stage. The acoustics were excellent, however, the stage itself was pretty small. We were seated in Section I - in the house left section. I was excited, because my view of the stage was excellent. At least, until the concert started. Which leads me to the good and bad of the theater. Good: You can get up and dance. Bad: People danced the entire time in the aisles - so those of us to the left of the aisle could barely see the actual performers. Good: You can take pictures and video. Bad: People took pictures (with flash, of course) and video all night. Good: You can sing along. Bad: The guy behind me was so drunk he had no business singing. If knowing one word out of every 50 or so could actually be counted as singing. Good: The stage is small, so it feels intimate. Bad: The band we saw (The English Beat) has 6 members. We only ever saw 5 members. All we saw of the bass player was part of the fretboard of his bass guitar - the entire time his face/body was hidden by the stage curtain. I would definitely come back to see a concert here, but I would make certain my seats were center stage.

Yelp
I've attended shows at the Capitol Theatre both before the renovation and since. It's a great intimate theater that seats around 700 people. Although small in size, I've seen many major acts here including Train, The Outlaws, David Crosby, Jay Leno, The Zombies, Sheryl Crow and many more. They also host local and regional performers. Pros about the Capitol Theatre - Small, intimate theatre - Great line up of artists and performances - Reasonable ticket prices - Close to downtown restaurants Cons about the Capitol Theatre - Parking can be hard to find on busy nights - Some seating is partially obstructed or difficult to utilize - The original floor was designed for a movie theater, so the slope is wrong for performances on a stage. In short, it's a great place to see a show and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Yelp
The Capitol is a historic site that has been totally refurbished in downtown Clearwater. The theater is on the small side, and is a very intimate experience to see artists such as Olivia Newton-John, Tom Rush, Tom Rundgren and many other wonderful performers. There are private viewing boxes, a balcony as well as the orchestra seating. There is a bar on the roof of the theater and inside the lobby they offer snacks and beverages to enjoy during the show. There is often have the performing artists albums, tee shirts, etc for sale. The street parking is limited in front of the theater but they do offer valet parking and there are parking garages close by that offer free parking in the evening.

Yelp
Nice small theater with great sound. Nice place to see smaller acts here. My wife and I usually catch a show here every time we are in the area. The seating might be a little tight depending on where your seats are located.

Yelp
Shhhhh... be very very quiet, I see scientologists. Ruth Eckerd hall hits another weak fly ball with this one, but they at least make a few slight improvements over their flagship venue. There are a few restaurants in the area. You can easily get a drink or sit down for some food before the show. Not many choices, but enough to get you by for one evening. Directly across the street is a bar/pizza joint and down the street further on Cleveland are a few nice sit down spots. They're all locked up tight by ten, so make sure you're going before show. The venue is nice. I'll give them that. Amazing job restoring the venue with new sweats and fresh paint. You feel the value of the ticket as you walk in the main room. The wall about outside the seated area isn't much, but for a beer, snack and t shirt it's fine. No real place to "hang out" at the venue itself so, don't try. They have a beautiful wrap around balcony that any smart business would turn into a nice bar/food spot before the show. Yet, this is Ruth Eckerd managed, so that for the artist only. Sound is great inside, ambiance in the venue is good. Nice spacing and good ability to move around. Really can't complain about the physical space. Ticket takers and ushers seem a bit better than the assisted living center Ruth pulls from at their main venue. Older, but well informed nice folks ready to help. Security... oh boy! Sadly they have brought the gang over from Ruth Eckerd. Degenerates in their fifth job all barking at you abuse boss man said so. Regularly they force folks blindly into the middle of the street to be hit by cars cause they won't let you use a public sidewalk as its for the band. WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW! I saw a young kid get hit on his bike with a car here once cause Capitol shit down the street and he had to switch sidewalks and was struck crossing blindly behind the bus. Sadly security waited for the fans to call 911 and sat there as someone begged for water and a towel. 100% true. 100% Ruth Eckerd at its prime. Outside, the city is WEIRD and always quiet. Scientology takes up most of downtown. So you'll see huddles of Scientologists getting into white buses in alley ways, running down the streets in a fast paced walk in full outfits. It's VERY quiet in this city all the time! Not a place I'd put a music venue, but whatever. Don't go into any shops you're not supposed to, Ive been asked and shown literature from L Ron Hubbard multiple times... even just buying a water at the convenience store next to the Cap. It's scary! Overall for a venue it's not bad. Security are fucking dicks, but I think that's part of the Ruth Eckerd Experience.

Yelp
Excited to see the Mavericks in concert but I was also looking forward to checking out the Capitol Theatre to find out firsthand how well the acoustics and intimacy of this venue work. Seats are comfortable, sight lines are good and the sound was outstanding. I would love to try a seat in one of the side balconies sometime but I was more than satisfied with where I sat on the floor level, more than midway from the stage and to the right of the musicians. There is a full liquor lobby bar plus they sell hot popcorn which won my heart right away. The rooftop area is nice for a view of the sunset or to enjoy the breeze but the night I visited there was no food or drink service there. I am not one to opt for a section that may be close to the stage but lacks seats. And stadium-size arenas are far too large and impersonal. Not too big, not too small, this is one just right kind place to enjoy live music. It was refreshing that the band invited people to dance and people gladly migrated towards the stage to sway, stand and even engage in some slow dancing together. Security guards did not shoo people back to their seats but let them enjoy being on their feet. Since I never saw the before I can only applaud the after that is the recently renovated Capitol Theatre and look forward to more music there soon.

SenorQueso G.

Yelp
As a music venue, this place is alright. Unless another big event is happening at Coachman park, there's plenty of free parking after 6 PM on weekdays and all day on weekends. The interior has been restored nicely and it looks great. The sound is good. The issue is the seating. The mezzanine seats are smaller than economy airplane seats with less leg-room. You will be rubbing up against your neighbors. The view from the mezzanine is great (as long as you're not behind the box seats), but the comfort level is taxing. The seating on the floor has little slope to it. So, if you're short, you'll have to spend most of the show trying to look around the heads in front of you. So, if you're a tall, skinny person, you should have a great experience.

Yelp
What great place to see a throw back movie with the kids. Ruth Eckerd Hall took over this venue and is raising money to re-do the theater back to its hay day. Once a month on Saturday or Sunday afternoons they are showing family movies - we've seen Wizard of Oz and today was Willy Wonka (1971). Next month is Goonies. They are sponsored by Parenting Magazine (I think that is what it is called). The price is right at $5 per person, popcorn for $3 and they serve beer!! Concessions are priced right plus each movie they do a fun game. Today they had chocolate bars for free (until they run out) and some had golden tickets which means you won a prize. It is not fancy like new theaters, but that is not why you go. My daughter's first question was where is the drink holder. I like the charm and can't wait to go back for concerts and other movies.

Yelp
In the 24-years I've lived in the Tampa Bay Area, I've never seen a show at this theater until this past Saturday night (3/23/19). I loved that parking was free.. (unlike the Straz in downtown Tampa where they charge $6-$10) We had already grabbed dinner in the drive to Clearwater so stopped into a coffee shop across the street. I'll have that review up too. I love that this theater was built in 1921 & had Vaudeville acts back in the day. The inside was nicely refurbished & there is a bar for a light snack or cocktail. The only odd thing was the ladies room & men's room aren't next to each other.. but that must have been the way they designed things almost 100 years ago. Inside the seats were comfortable and even though we were in row S, I could see the stage just fine. My husband loved that there was no waiting to get out of a crowded parking lot at the end of the night and we zipped right home. We'll be back. Here is my Vlog of the night: https://youtu.be/8Rgb2e3RodI

Yelp
I have been to this venue for several shows in the past. Capital Theater is well done and would be a great boutique venue if it weren't for the lack of air conditioning and the sardine seating. The upper mezzanine seating is the worst.

Yelp
In town for a concert we were interested to check this place out. We love the quaint little theaters around the states and read that this one had been redone and such. WILL CALL opens an hour before your show. The line was non existent for our performance so quick and easy. 2 lines forms outside with security (looked like real police officers to me vs rent a security person.) One person looking through bags and 2 wanting people. AN extra security guy behind all of them in case you try to escape, lol. Walk in and the bar is right in front of you. Full bar. Ordered a double gin and tonic which was $15. They had Botanist gin, THANK YOU FOR HAVING MORE THAN JUST DECENT GIN, and gun tonic. The lime could have been and should have been much larger. Why do these places scrimp on the fruit? It's cheap, don't be so cheap with it. We made our way up to the nosebleeds and seated ourselves with help from the 60 something attendant. She had no idea where any of the seats were but we dealt with it and finally got seated. Maybe she was new, who knows. Our seats were int he back row middle, right in front of the light crew. We had this weird bar in front of us which sort of kept us in our seats. No cup holders which was the biggest bummer for me. The set up was decent for an old theatre. Seating is hard to do int here places since you can't run aisles very often. People were climbing over each other all night going in and out to the bathroom. Bathroom was easily accessible form our seats. Out the door, hang a right and right there. Probably 5 or 6 stalls in the ladies room. The one latch did not work (would not lock) which is a huge pet peeve of mine. It would not be hard for maintenance to fix that. The place was clean and there was a bar upstairs which was completely empty when we arrived. Bummer, we would have ordered our drinks from there had we of known there was a bar upstairs. Parking is free after 6 pm whether it is metered parking or lot parking. Pretty ample but arrive early so you aren't late to your activity you are there for. We arrived at 5:00 pm on a Monday and we paid 50 cents for an hour of parking and it was free after that. LOVE that. Staff were all polite. We would definitely return.

Yelp
First time here and I loved it! Recently refurbished, the original charm was kept and restored. We saw Bob Sagat and I could tell there wasn't a bad seat in the house. The seats were comfortable enough and roomy that you didn't feel cramped in there like a sardine. The bathrooms are clean and fresh, which is always a plus! The line for the bar is a bit odd and needs to be rethought out, but I understand they are working with the area they have. I would definitely come back!

Yelp
Love it here. I have been coming here since the 70's, before renovations, before Ruth Eckerd bought it, when it was just a movie theater. Always a great time. Historic.

Yelp
I am pretty impressed. My first visit I was greeted by a whole team of folks who worked together to make sure we had a great time. From the ticket booth, through security to the ones who put a wheelchair in my hands when we needed it. Not a bad seat in the house. The beer could be cheaper, but clearly these guys have it together.

Yelp
Wow. Love this theatre. I prefer this theatre than most. It's intimate, gorgeous and the parking is decent. Just saw Tape Face and loved it.

Yelp
We attended the Carrot Top show on Sunday the 13th of December. The Theater has 750 seats, and this time we sat in the 1st row, Balcony center. It is the perfect spot to see Carrot Top's "trunk show" and the sound was perfect. Even when everyone was laughing, we could easily hear Carrot Top's next joke. We really like going up to Frenchy's Rooftop bar before the show, and they have happy hour prices beginning about 5:30 or 6 pm before most shows. The staff are excellent, and they all seem to like their jobs. We actually thought about going to see Carrot Top in Las Vegas, for $140 a ticket....but we went to Aerosmith that night instead. We're glad we waited, and the tickets cost just $55 for premium seating.

Yelp
I am signing up on Yelp just to leave a review of this nightmarish place. Me and my girlfriend went there to see Connor Oberst, last night, October 21. The tickets were for open seating and the layout was solid chairs with two aisles running down the middle and a small opening in front for standing room. The place was overpacked when the show started, beyond a safe, fire code level of packed. So we looked up and saw that there was an empty balcony with 100 open seats and decided to head up there and enjoy the show in relative peace. However, we were informed the balcony was closed and had to be herded back into the crowd. This wouldn't have merited me needed to go out of my way to review this place had it not been for what happened next. We were standing in a peaceful, but overpacked crowd when the show started and of course, due to overcrowding people were spilling into the aisle. So a very rude and loud security guard started screaming for people to get out of the aisle while flashing their flashlight in peoples faces. This was while Connor was playing his set. There was no alternative given on where people could go, so the guard was literally forcing people to smoosh into each other. This continued through three songs and that we could not enjoy due to the yelling until people go squeezed so tight and jostled so roughly an older man behind us got shoved into me and my girlfriend causing his wine to spill all over her hair and covering both the backs of our shirts. Mind you, everyone was doing their best to calmly comply, there simply was not enough room. So after three songs we weren't able to enjoy, we left covered with wine stains, and out $72 for the most overpriced horrible experience of both our lives. As we were leaving there was a group of women pleading with security to let them into the balcony because there was no space for people who paid $36 to actually go in and see the show.  I hope other people share their experience from this night because I will never return to this venue and feel robbed of our money and our ability to see a performer we loved.

Yelp
My friend and I went to the Capitol Theater, for the first time, yesterday, to see Roberta Flack and we came away with mixed feelings, regarding this venue. First off, a little back story. My friend is blind. She also happens to be a nurse practitioner, with two degrees, s she isn't stupid, she just can't see. I am a disabled vet, who though can walk, can not do so for long distances. Due to our "situation" we tend to inquire ahead regarding disabled parking, access, etc as to avoid any problems or confusion. Imagine our surprise when we were told that there was no specific handicap parking, and that we could park somewhere "in back of the building". Any attempt to get the lady on the phone to elaborate or give us more specifics was met with a "just go to the back and park, and then walk around to the front. Not good, but we decided to press on. As we wanted to avoid traffic and give ourselves plenty of time to find our way, we arrived at the venue around 4:30pm, with the intention of parking, grabbing a bite to eat, and then see the show. Imagine my surprise when I found that the back of the building consisted of a bunch of reserved parking spaces, reserved for local businesses and the utility company, each with tow away signs. We circled the block 4-5 times looking for these magical parking spots we were told about, but there were none to be found. Finally, at 5pm we decided to bite the bullet and park in the public utilities lot as they close at 5 and I figured we wouldn't be towed. We managed to make it to the front of the venue, and went across the street, for a bite to eat, returning at around 6:30pm to pick up our tickets, at Will Call. The doors finally opened around 6:40 and we were ushered inside where we were told we had to wait until 7:00p before we could go to our seats. Everyone was instructed to wait in the lobby until then. (in other words, buy some drinks and buy a raffle ticket).. There was only a single 2 person bench available, and my friend and another lady sat, while the rest of us (some quite old /or disabled) were left to our own devices. As we had a box seat, we were taken up by elevator, where an usher showed us to our seats. Now the box was pretty nice, and the chairs comfy enough, but I found the seating and interior to be quite lacking and the seats, themselves, to be rather cheap looking. I guess I expected more ornate decorations, or something, but all in all, not bad. I will say the theater is fairly intimate, and there didn't appear to be a bad seat in the house...our seats were quite nice, indeed. The acoustics were wonderful, and really captured the nuances of Ms Flack's voice, as well as the band. Now comes my biggest gripe. After the show, we attempted to wait until the crowd thinned out due to my friend's blindness and my disability making it harder for us to maneuver, but we were repeatedly rushed and told we had to leave, NOW. Mind you, the show hadn't ended 10 minutes prior when we were told we had to leave. I tried to explain why we were waiting, and I was told we could wait downstairs, and that they were waiting for us at the elevator. I asked if my friend could at least use the rest room first and was met with a grunt. We used it anyway, and then fought the remaining crowd, in order to leave. A VERY disappointing end to an otherwise pleasant evening. Yes, the place looks nice, in the lobby, and most of the staff were friendly, but it is obvious that they either lack the training or the concern regarding disabled people. That coupled with us being treated like cattle and rushed to the exits, is just ridiculous. We are both on a fixed income and going to shows is a luxury, and at $85 each (plus added fees) we would hope to be able to expect to be treated at least politely, and professionally, if anything else. I rate the building and most of the ushers/staff a 4, but the gentleman that was being rude, rushing us out, the poor parking situation, and general apathy towards the handicapped deserves a 2 (at best), so I will rate the venue a 3. If we return, I will post a follow up review.

Yelp
A great venue in downtown clearwater! The intimacy of this place makes for no bad seat in the house. Sound is good. There's a bar (you can bring drinks in), and they have a great lineup of artists to see here

Yelp
While on vacation, I caught the band YES in this great little theatre. Very historic vibe. My mezzanine tickets said limited leg room. I did not find this to be an issue. Very comfortable. The sound was awesome. One of the best concert venues.

Yelp
Recently attended a concert here. Toad the wet sprocket. Paid over 70$ per seat. For my husbands birthday gift. So we sat in row L. Which seemed good. Show started all good, then the two women in front decide they are going to stand and dance, during one of our favorite songs. So of course we could see nothing. Except their fat asses. And they continue to do this through out the entire show. What a freaking bummer. Someone should of made their asses sit down. This isn't the proper venue to be standing up and dancing. And one of them kept loudly whistling throughout the show. The ushers should of come by and asked them to sit. I don't think we will attend another show here. So you two ladies in row K have more manners next time.

Yelp
Two stars because they're at least trying. They show older movies. However ... Movies shown here are NOT FILM. They are simply projected DVDs or Blu-Rays (so they're fuzzy on a larger screen). Sound is in STEREO, not surround. The screen is actually not very large at all. Yes, the seats are also awful and hurt your bottom after about an hour. Saw Labyrinth (1986) there this weekend and cringed when the pre-show cartoon was shown in the wrong aspect ratio (the image was stretched). It's pretty obvious that these people are just showing movies from a PC on a digital projector. Is this even legal? You can get a better experience streaming an HD movie for free at home on a decent sound system, for the same price or less.

Yelp
What a difference a multimillion dollar renovation makes! This was my first visit back to the The Capitol Theatre since the grand reopening. I had a smile on my face the whole night as I saw improvement after improvement. Walking up to the building from the street gave me the first glimpse of the new building and I was already impressed. They've got blue lighting surrounding the entire building, which looks great. When you walk into the lobby there are beautiful new light fixtures and a skyline painted on the ceiling. The lobby is also much larger. Gone is the tiny concession stand that was in the middle. Over to the right is the good-sized bar area where you can get a drink or snacks. There is also plenty of room to congregate here. The men's room is located on this side of the building now, which is the opposite of where it used to be. Gone is the tiniest men's room on the planet. It has been replaced with a sparkling clean one that is an appropriate size for a venue like this. The creaky, tiny, uncomfortable movie seats are no more. My seat was by no means luxurious, but it was comfortable and I had no complaints. There are several box seats on the second floor, which I don't remember seeing before. It would be a lot of fun to watch a concert from those! I didn't even get to see the changes to the second floor, which apparently includes a wrap-around balcony and a rooftop terrace. It has actually been over a year since the newly renovated building opened for business. It looks like it could've opened yesterday, which means that they're doing a great job of maintaining it. In my previous review I said that I liked the "concept" of this place, but would actually cringe when I heard a performer that I wanted to see was playing here. Now I'll have the complete opposite reaction. Because this is a smaller venue it really is a special experience being so close to the performers. Now the actual facility doesn't detract from that. I can't wait to come back here!

Yelp
Nice smaller venue. Way more intimate than the larger halls. We saw the comedian Brad Garrett here and enjoyed the show. The seats were comfortable, but a little close together. We still had a good time. I don't think there is a bad seat in the house.

Yelp
I've gone to hundreds of concerts in my lifetime. I love Ruth Eckerd and small venues. This is small...and I love it! My first visit and I saw Little Feat here! I took the photo to show how intimate the venue was. The sound was excellent. It was so worth it and I intend to come back soon. Lindsey Buckingham, Southside Johnny, and Arlo Guthrie are perfect for this setting!

Yelp
I discovered a fantastic concert venue last night. On my first show at the Capitol Theatre I was amazed at the ease of access as I am in a wheelchair. I greatly appreciated the valet parking. The theatre is a beautiful room with incredible acoustics. There was no problems getting to the accessible seating in the 3rd level. Even being sat there the sight lines were unobstructed and the sound was pretty good. I saw The Mavericks and although the mix was a bit bright with the horns taking over at times, the 8 piece band could be heard with great definition. The muddled upper frequencies fall on the bands FOH mixer. All in all this was a great time and the Capitol is a venue I look forward to seeing more shows at

Yelp
I went to The Capitol Theater to see the Princes Bride on the big screen and I really wish more Theaters would do things like this. The seats were hard as hell and tiny. though I may just be fat but since most of America is they need to expand the seats. The concession stand was pretty ridiculous as well. I got a popcorn which was half the price of the regular theaters and about 1/4th the size and a little stale. I also got a 20oz. Pepsi that was only 3 times the price I would have paid at a store but it was bottled. But I got to see a classic movie in a movie theater so I liked it. I'm going to see Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and The Wizard of OZ next month. Considering getting tickets to see The Goonies. in August.

Yelp
We went to the Capitol Theatre last night for a concert..Small seats but we made do. The usher in our section was rude as hell. During intermission, the folks behind us and me and my husband were talking. The show started up again and everybody took their seats again. The girl behind me asked me something. I get a tap from the usher for me to quiet down. I didn't say a damn word yet. Talk about a police state. Outside and In. No thanks to this venue. We will not be back.

Yelp
Great venue. Small, which I love and classic. Acoustics are pretty good and the seating is comfortable. Drinks are a bit pricey but I still enjoy the shows here without one.

Yelp
Went to the screening of Big Trouble in Little China movie at the Capitol. I had never been there before. I was pleasantly surprised by how amazing it was. I had read reviews about how the movie quality might be distorted, but didn't experience that at all. The picture was clear and the sound was amazing. The "previews" before the movie started were blurry and dark, but once the actually movie started it was perfect. The seats were uncomfortable and seemed a lot smaller and closer together than a regular movie theater. But, not enough of a complaint to be influenced to not come back. I am looking forward to seeing more shows there. The atmosphere was very calm and aside from some drunk people shouting at times, everyone else was pretty respectful of the movie theater etiquette.
