Where to Devour Chicago Deep-Dish Pizza

"Rocco Palese invented stuffed pizza at Guy’s Pizza in Hermosa, but when he opened his own place, which eventually grew into a chain, he named it after his wife, Nancy. Each pie is two-and-a-half inches tall and packed with tons of cheese, sauce, toppings, and two layers of dough. Folks can customize their own ingredients or opt for one of the greatest hits, such as the Spicy Pepino (pepperoni, giardiniera, banana peppers)." - Ashok Selvam, Eater Staff

One of the Best Pizzas I’ve Ever Had! Absolutely delicious—this was hands down one of the best pizzas I’ve ever tasted. The flavors were on point, and the crust was perfect. Our server, Sophie, was amazing—friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. The overall service was excellent. Highly recommended. I’ll definitely be back!

Google
my first time dining at Nancy’s Pizza for deep dish and it was an awesome experience. We had two small deep dish pizzas for four people, and it was plenty of food. The pizza’s are about 2 1/2 inches high and the tomato sauce and cheese are delicious. The salads are also really good and the restaurant itself is very clean and in a great location in the west Loop. Looking forward to coming again.

Google
Pretty good stuffed pizza. They offer their signatures and also have the option to customize your own. Besides their stuffed option you can get thin crust pizza. Wings are on the small side. Margaritas are weak and would recommend just sticking with beer.

Google
I would say this is one of the best, if not the best, deep dish pizza I had so far. The struggle of a typical deep dish pizza is that it is too heavy, becomes watery, or has too much crust. However, the deep dish pizza here is just beautiful inside and out. The pizza is well seasoned and packed with cheese and meat. Still it is very enjoyable that I don't get bored after a big slice. Well, another compliment is that the pizza is quite affordable. One slice of deep dish pizza here might be slightly pricier than a thin sliced one but the amount you get is way bigger. The chicken wings look awesome but we didn't get a chance to try. Next time we visit Chicago, we know where to go for Deep Dish :)

Very pleased with my meal. We were greeted promptly by the host and seated in less than 5 minutes. Try the Uncle Tony’s pizza with sausage, green pepper, and onion.

Google
This was the best meal on the entire Chicago trip - we went there twice, in fact. Pizza was incredible, the salads were top notch, the drinks fast and well poured. Ask for Genevieve to be your server, she's a gem. Loved Nancy's - you will too 😊

Google
One of the most consistent places in Chicago. Consistent quality, value, and attention to detail. (We only do pick up/delivery) and every time, so, probably 50 times, it’s been correct. Thank you so much.

Google
You may think fries wouldn’t be your first pick at an pizza restaurant, or that you wouldn’t want Caesar dressing on it, but for some reason it’s a religious experience, as is the gluten free pizza. I’m not even gluten free but my fiancé is and for some reason I prefer it anyway. Everything’s delicious in a way that doesn’t make sense. Customer service and management seems to be top notch too.

Yelp
This place has no business being this good. Of course, you probably just think it's "just a pizza place" but legitimately everything is good here. The classic tavern style pizza is one of my favorite pies, period. The stuffed is amazing as well if you brought an appetite. Salads are delicious and fresh. Also their fettuccine alfredo is stupid good (but I don't let myself eat this often). Another thing you wouldn't expect here is how good their cocktails are. Well balanced and high quality. Their signature old fashioned is especially good. Helpful, friendly staff and restaurant is always clean. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Asked a friend for some recommendations on where to eat tonight & she recommended Nancy's & damn it was delicious! Bartender was very tentative, restaurant overall was very clean & a good vibe. I thought it would've been a little more crowded coming around 6pm (on a Monday) but it was great! Recommend getting the lemon pepper wings & the cheese stuffed classic. I came by myself & thought I could handle a small pizza, but was wrong lol. Great spot!!!

Yelp
Visited Chicago for the first time, so of course I had to try deep dish pizza! For appetizers, we ordered the Boomin' Rings and the Buffalo Blue Waffle Fries. The onion rings were what you would expect--delicious, but nothing out of the ordinary. The fries were great, and I wish we ordered more for our group. We ordered a medium-sized Nana's Special and a medium thin crust pizza with giardiniera and mushrooms to share between 6 people. I normally prefer thin crust pizza, but this deep dish was definitely something special. The Nana's Special was very flavorful and stuffed with lots of spinach and mushrooms. It was also incredibly filling. The thin crust pizza was also very good, and I like how customizable it is. The service was good, though it took a long time to get our food. We sat down and ordered at 4:40, and we didn't get any food until 5:15. Luckily, the pizza was worth the wait, but I definitely recommend ordering some quick appetizers so you don't get too hangry while waiting!

Yelp
Tried this place out last night and was not disappointed!! Started with a full Caesar salad, it was one of the best I've had in a while. Definitely more than enough for two people! For pizza we got a small (9") uncle Tony's stuffed crust. Pepperoni, sausage, green pepper and onion. It was delicious. We each had one slice and were full. So again, great size for two people. The cocktails were also great and they had a nice assortment. We went on a Thursday at around 9:00pm and the restaurant was about half full, we were seated immediately. Decor inside was very cute and the service was great. Would recommend and would go again!

Yelp
I have been walking past this place almost every day for 4 years and have never come inside. There is always a bunch of people coming in and out and I always think to myself hmmm I need to check it out. I have a friend that was equally curious about Nancy's that works a block away from it so we said ok, lets do it! Came by on a Friday night...glad I made a reservation as the place was pretty packed. Walking past the joint, I couldn't tell how big the bar is, but after being inside, Im like its a nice bar size and scene. Our server was Nancy (not the namesake lol) and she is one of the best ever! Very attentive, personable and just overall awesome! There are two old fashioneds on the menu (Rocco's Old Fashioned & Italian Old Fashioned) and while both are awesome, Rocco wins out here. I love that they give you a king cube with your old fashioned! We got a medium sausage, spinach and mozzarella stuffed pizza and it did not disappoint! Very filling of course but we did some damage with 2 slices left to take home. Very different from most deep dish pizza I've had which is a good thing! A week or so later I was at home with nothing to do and wanted to check their thin crust as I saw most people getting it when I stopped by. Got a nice thin spinach and cheese pizza delivered and it was decent. Got a side of onion rings which was very good! Im gonna go and sit down soon and try another thin crust pizza and report back lol! Good joint...I love it!

Yelp
I do not get the hype at all. The pizzas had nice flavors but the dough and crust had reheated frozen pizza vibes that I could not get past. Absolutely not worth the ~$70 bill we had for 2 small thin crust pizzas and a mediocre watered down cocktail. The service was also really slow and we waited for our food for a while even though the restaurant was pretty empty the whole time we were there. Not going back again.

Yelp
I was so happy to find this gem! A chilly autumn walk from United Center, looking for food later at night (why is almost every place that's serves actual food closing at 9 or 10pm?!) and we were so happy to stumble across Nancy's. Open until 11pm. Very friendly service, great pizza, giant fresh salads, and appetizers that hit the spot. Everything you need and expect from a neighborhood pizza joint. Nothing spectacular or different on the menu, but they do all the classics really well. Thank you, Nancy's!

Yelp
This was a nice and family friendly restaurant. We ordered a medium veggie pizza with thin crust. It was a good amount of food for two people. The pizza was pretty tasty, it was what you would expect for a typical veggie pizza. The pricing of this restaurant was very reasonable and we had a nice dinner for two under $50.

Yelp
I went to Nancy's Pizza for dinner and had a great experience. You are greeted by the smell of delicious pizza and a warm ambiance which creates an atmosphere that promises a delightful meal. The menu offers a variety of pizza options to cater to different tastes, including classic combinations and inventive creations. The standouts for us was the Caramelized Brussels Sprouts which contained bacon, honey, dijon mustard and the Uncle Tony's Pizza which was topped with italian sausage, pepperoni, green peppers, and onions. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive, always ready to offer recommendations based on your preferences (Shout out to our server Nancy!). The attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the dining experience, from the presentation of the dishes to the timely and friendly service. I will definitely be going there again!

Yelp
A perfect thin crust cheese from Nancy's. In town for the Cubs Convention and this was our pizza of choice. You can never go wrong with Nancy's thin or thick! I do love Nancy's pizza.

Yelp
A solid all-around spot for deep dish pizza in Chicago with exceptional service. We ordered the Blueberry Pecan Salad and a Large deep dish pizza with artichoke and canadian bacon to share among 4 people. The deep dish pizza here is noticeably better than the chain spots like Lou's or Giordano's, though it was still a little bland and could use a bit more flavor overall. The blueberry pecan salad was a huge highlight: the combination of crunchy and creamy textures of the nuts, cheese, and blueberries was very pleasant. The sweet dressing was a really great pairing to the nutty pecan flavor. The service here was really wonderful-- our server was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout. The prices are also solid and reasonable. The restaurant was pretty empty when we went for lunch on Sunday, but the space is spacious and the ambience is chill. -- Price (relative to peers): 4.5/5 Food: 4.3/5 Ambience: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Overall Value: 4.5/5

Yelp
Review based on delivery only: Honestly? Great food. It was a last min pick because a friend and I decided to keep it simple for hangout night the day of New Year. I was browsing other options and could simply not justify potentially spending $20 for a salad that might be disappointing. Nancy's seemed to be the only place that had reasonably priced salads and pizza for this occasion, and I was so happy with what we got! The chopped salad came in a generous portion that was enough to feed two people and have more for leftovers. Lots of the amazing vinaigrette dressing was sent on the side, and the salad even had chicken in it. Gorgonzola or any "funky" cheese isn't up my alley, but the salad was so good that I was able to mostly ignore it. *My fault for not knowing the names of cheeses I don't like* We ordered a custom thin pizza (wish I ordered a larger size!) with some veggies and pepperoni, and the flavors did not disappoint. Crust was obviously thin, but held its structure well. I know lots of people who don't like cracker texture crusts, but this was perfect. We've walked past this restaurant multiple times, but never ordered til now. I'm now looking forward to ordering again or going in person!

Yelp
I have been craving pizza and mozzarella sticks. After a quick search, I came across Nancy's on Yelp. I placed an order for pickup and it was ready in about 40 mins. I got the Buffalo chicken thin crust pizza. A medium is more than enough for two people. The chicken was juicy. The flavors worked together incredibly. Unfortunately they didn't include the blue cheese, which I think it's supposed to come with, but it was still delicious. The mozzarella sticks were great too. Prob not the best for takeout since they won't be fresh out of the fryer but still delicious. They come with a green pesto sauce to dip in that was absolutely delicious. We also got the house salad which was so fresh, crisp and delicious. So simple, but a nice compliment to the other two items. The dressing was really good. Will certainly be back whenever I have that pizza craving and could even see myself coming to get the salad for a quick healthy lunch. I also want to try their pastas.

Yelp
I am traveling for work and have been dying to try pizza in Chicago. The vibe in the restaurant was so friendly and unique. The staff was so kind and took the time to explain their options for pizza and helped you figure out which one was best for you. The berry salad was so delicious and the pizza was full of flavor. I definitely recommend coming down to Nancy's Pizza! Great service and yummy food that won't disappoint!

Yelp
There was about an hour wait for our group of 13 on a Saturday around 6:30pm but we are able to grab drinks at the bar, the kids had a table to sit and play cards, and the staff was so friendly! We ordered a variety of items and everything was delicious! Super cute place, nice vibe, clean, and great service!

Yelp
Was craving thin crust pizza for a while. A friend recommended Nancy's and it did not disappoint. I ordered take out but would definitely dine in next time. The staff was quick with addressing orders. Really enjoyed the TVs surrounding the bar and dining area. Would be great to catch a game here with the crew. Pizza was amazing. Toppings meshed really well with the crust and was the perfect bite each time. The wings were clutch. Shout out to the bartender who recommended the Memphis bbq boom boom sauce! Giving kfc a run for their money, because this was finger lickin' good. Would come back for sure.

Yelp
This 9" Small Original Stuffed Pizza was called the Uncle Tony. It consisted of pepperoni, Italian sausage and green peppers and onions. Delicious!

Yelp
Good food, ok service. I really waffled between 3 and 4 stars. Came here with a friend who raved about their pizza (she had always done delivery). It was noon on a Saturday, they were not busy so it took a minute to be 'acknowledged' when we came in (no big deal, we weren't in a rush). We shared a large thin crust pizza with fresh garlic, sausage, and mushrooms, and it was delicious. I love that the cheese was so melty and gooey. Our server though, left a bit to be desired. We started off by ordering drinks, which took a while to be made. Again, no big deal, but after a long wait our server came back to say one of the drinks couldn't be made because they didn't have prosecco. Okay, not a huge deal, my friend ordered something different. Then we ordered the pizza, and a few minutes later he came back to ask us what toppings we wanted. Multiple times, our server came over saying "this is so embarrassing," which I found a little odd. I don't recall him actually apologizing for any of the (admittedly little) missteps, just saying it was embarrassing. I honestly wasn't really upset about any of them, but him coming over and calling them out like that was a weird vibe. It was not busy and they seemed to have a fair number of people working, so I'm not quite sure what the delay was in getting our drinks (and our pizza). I get not having prosecco but it was a little odd it took them so long to 'realize' it and let us know. Again, the pizza is great, and honestly if the server hadn't kept calling out the missteps we likely wouldn't have noticed. Maybe I'm being a little harsh but it was a bit of an odd dining experience.

Yelp
Beautiful interior with plenty of seating including booths and high top tables. We were looking for the epitome of Chicago deep dish pizza and we found it here! Small deep dish pizza - we chose one of the prebuilt flavors (can't remember which one). Instagram-worthy cheese pull, hearty warm goodness, fattest pizza slice ever 9/10 Side of the mixed green salad - incredibly refreshing and paired perfectly with the pizza for a great price 10/10 Espresso martini - beautifully made, the perfect pick me up after a long day of sightseeing 8/10 Passionfruit martini - deliciously sweet and refreshing, perfect for people who don't like the taste of alcohol Service was great. I'd recommend anyone visiting town to stop by after a boat tour like we did.

Yelp
5 stars to Adam to was working when we arrived. He went above and beyond for us and treated us amazingly. We walked in and he accommodated us since we were not aware their last hour is for pick up only. Such a gem. Food was okay.. so I'd give that 3 stars. We had a deep dish pizza, mozzarella sticks, garlic bread and sliders.

Roxanne G.

Yelp
The pizza was delicious stuffed with cheese and pepperoni. Great service. They need sharper knives to cut the bottom crust. Very clean and large establishment. Recommended.
google avatar

Yelp
The food was great and the waitress was super friendly. Would definitely recommend and would come back. Friends had the deep dish and loved it.
google avatar

Yelp
Good food and good service. Wish i was there longer to try more of the menu. Pizza was exceptional .
google avatar

Yelp
This place is awesome. The best stuffed pizza I've ever had. Michelle the owner and our waitress Nancy (no relation to the owner haha) went above and beyond with service. Had a train layover and I couldn't have picked a better spot.
google avatar

Addison H.

Yelp
Called to confirm that they were open with the construction going on. They assured us that they were open. We walked our kids in the rain to the restaurant to be told that they were not open for dining, just carry out. Dining room doesn't open until 3pm during the week apparently.
google avatar

Yelp
Such a great spot to stop for some good authentic Chicago pizza & other good tasty selections. Fast friendly service in a cozy atmosphere. The pizza was really good & not greasy! Adam the GM ensures such great service to all his patrons! There are multiple locations and ai highly recommend!

Yelp
Absolutely lovely spot for a weeknight craving of pizza. Decided to eat her on a whim and watch some football, first thing that caught my eye is the space is quaint but very cute! For a weeknight definitely had a good amount of people going in and out of there. We snagged two open seats at the bar. The bartender serving us was fantastic! Was happy to give some suggestions on what to eat or drink, and overall was very friendly. For the food, we started with the mozzarella sticks (had a choice for three sticks which in my opinion for two people was perfect) and then split two pizzas, one deep dish and one thin crust. The bartender suggested a small sized deep dish and medium thin crust to split and I think that was the perfect amount of food for left overs. All in all seems like a locally loved spot and I totally understand why.
google avatar

Courtney E.

Yelp
Lou Malnati who?? This is hands down one of my top 3 favorite pizzas. I want a jar of the pizza sauce so I can put it on everything. It was so good, so unexpected, and very original. The Italian breadsticks were a great complement to the pizza as well. To make matters worse, they have Ben & Jerry's! How can I ever leave Chicago now? I will say the one con is that the fried mozzarella wasn't good - I took a star off for that. It was just bland and didn't add to the experience. But the rest of it will live in my tastebud dreams forever!
google avatar

Robert T.

Yelp
Good local vibes, friendly bartenders. Best deep dish in the city, but be warned. You might need a nap afterwards.

Colby W.

Yelp
We had this delivered to our hotel. Delivery was fast and the driver was friendly. We got the Spicy Pepino. Be warned, it is salty. Just by the ingredients you'd think it was common sense, but somehow we don't think of it. So if you're just as dumb as us, this is your warning. However, thin crust that was very crispy and delicious. Also wouldn't call it "spicy" at all, but still a good pizza.

Jason R.

Yelp
I had my family visiting from out of state and we visited Nancy's Pizza Chicago - West Loop. This was my first time visiting Nancy's, and I chose it solely on reviews. Nancy (no relation to the owner) was our server and she was incredible. Overall, the food was good - we had two deep dish pies (Medium/Large), 28 wings, a thin crust for the kids, a large salad, some Brussel sprouts and some beers. There was construction around the building, so it was a little hard to find, but once we did we were happy with what we found. The restaurant has a nice bar, some high tops and a decent amount of tables. Food came out pretty quickly, other than the pies (what is expected with a deep dish). So far, these are the best deep dish pizzas I have had in the city. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended if you're in the area.
google avatar

Vincent L.

Yelp
We placed a delivery order like we always do when we are in Chicago and Nancy's does not miss! We had the stuffed pizza, a thin crust pizza and an order of boneless wings. Everything was amazing. I know there are a million and one pizza places in Chicago, but I would put Nancy's up against any of them. The food is that good.
google avatar

karina k.

Yelp
Good cheese that's stringy and fresh and lots of it in the deep dish pizza. Nice location and space. It was clean and staff were friendly. Bathroom was clean. The only thing do deep dish is there is a lot of crust and naturally it gets soggy w toppings and heat and I personally don't like so much crust but want the deep dish experience but the crispy outside part was good and I wish it had more toppings bc we got the A lot of meat one and veggie. I felt the veggie didn't have much veges. And the red sauce was salty and a bit pasty. The pizza came out piping hot. they have been around since 1971.
google avatar

Joe L.

Yelp
Pizza was very good and made exactly how I requested: thin crust, light sauce, well done, 1/2 plain 1/2 sausage onion banana pepper. I'm a NY/NJ pizza guy so this is different than what I'm used to but it was very good and so far some of the best I've experienced in Chicago.
google avatar

Naquiyah C.

Yelp
The pizza is super average. Reason I give it a 2 star is because it's just darn expensive for its worth. There is nothing special about it. Another reason I took out stars is because I asked for sauce and they just ignored it $30 for a medium thin crust with their basic ingredients and a cold pizza to pickup just didn't cut it for me. Would I come again? At this rate no.
google avatar

Cathleen Q.

Yelp
Incredibly delicious! We had cheese Pizza, fettuccine, cheese garlic bread and breadsticks.... I ordered through yelp /grub hub delivery. It was perfect, the kids enjoyed it too.
google avatar

April R.

Yelp
Horrible person pizza and horrible service the manager was very unprofessional and wouldn't replace my order!
google avatar

Rebecca H.

Yelp
We have never actually eaten here in person, but this is our go to pizza spot in the west loop for take out or delivery and it never disappoints. We always get the thin crust which is a tavern style pie w a slightly thicker, crunchy crust. It's delicious. My husband is a pizza addict and this is a top 3 spot for him in Chicago.
google avatar

Dominique W.

Yelp
This was our first time trying Chicago style pizza and let me tell you it didn't disappoint! The restaurant is not big, but not too small. It has a nice atmosphere. We tried the deep dish and the thin crust pizzas and both were amazing! The server brought our order fast, food was hot, and their pizza sauce was good. Would definitely return!
google avatar

Krystel M.

Yelp
I ha e only had the thin crust because I be feelingin like I'm too old to still be eating deep dish. My body is not forgiving of me when I do. But their thin crust is so consistently incredible. And the prices are actually really good. Maaan, I got this thincrust with mushrooms, olive, and garlic....when I tell you that was the best pizza experience I have had in years. I'm supposed to be vegan so I really shouldnt have had It,lol...but I had a crazy night and needed some cheese. But next time I'd have no problem ordering it without the cheese because the crust was so buttery and the sauce was saucing and the veggies and garlic.... Baby.... Yeah they know what they doing.
google avatar

Alex C.

Yelp
Best pizza in the West Loop hands down! The vibe is chill and the staff is amazing. Wings, pizza, salad and beer are my go to - can't go wrong.
google avatar

Adrian M.

Yelp
Love Nancy's pizza, but I really love the chicken wings. They never disappoint not too spicy, lots of flavor.
google avatar

Nicolette T.

Yelp
My favorite thin crust pizza in Chicago! I primarily get takeout from this location but every time I've tried something at Nancy's, I've enjoyed it. I highly recommend their thin crust pizza and garlic bread. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Just ordered pizza from here tonight and I had to jump on here right after I finished eating because it was absolutely incredible. It was truly love at first bite. Thin crust pizza is my favorite, so I'm extra picky. I'm not typically a huge fan of crust but this was amazing, very flavorful and great texture. It was so crispy and the perfect thinness, not so thin that your pizza is flopping around everywhere and not too thick where it starts to taste doughy. There is also a good amount of sauce, which I really liked. I hate when thin crust pizza barely has any sauce, you might as well eat a cracker at that point. I ordered pepperoni, sausage, and mushroom on my pizza and let me just say that they give you a very generous amount of high quality, delicious toppings. We got the medium pizza which says feeds 2-3 people, however we finished it between 2 people easily. This is going to be one of my new go to places for pizza. I wish I had found this place sooner.

Kelly V.

Yelp
Super friendly service, delicious pizza, and casual fun atmosphere - the stuffed crust is VERY filling! Stick with a smaller size on that one! ;)
google avatar

Raj S.

Yelp
Tried this place for a work event that I was hosting with a coworker. Ordering process was simple. Pickup was also simple and food was ready at time that we requested. Food was hot and delicious! We got two types of pizza, one with veggies and one with meat, and some chicken wings. We picked up soda from the grocery store. The food was a hit with my department, there was enough for everyone and everyone left satisfied with full bellies!

Candace B.

Yelp
Food was fresh and delicious! Good service and a warm industrial atmosphere. The BBQ pizza was tasty. The Caesar salad yummy. The entrance is on the corner. There was scaffolding up on the outside, so you can't see the address. But preserve! It is worth it! The music was fun too!

Katie Q.

Yelp
Pizza is great! One of the best thin crust tavern style pizzas in the city. Great salads too! However, it is sooo loud! It's hard to enjoy a meal when you're shouting to be heard by your table mates. Put in some ceiling tiles. The industrial open ceiling creates these super loud environments.

Yelp
I will preface this review by saying that I've only ever ordered carry-out at Nancy's, but it hits every single time. It's the best stuffed pizza in west loop and this is what I order when guests are in town, friends are coming over, etc. 10/10 recommend

Yelp
I just wanted to write a quick review because the entire staff was SOOOO NICE and ACCOMMODATING. I went here because I've wanted pizza and had never heard of them before. The pizza was great (it reheated well, too). The staff was super nice and accommodating. I'll definitely return.
