Disappointed… to say the very least. I honestly would’ve given this place 4 or even 5 stars if the order had been cooked and presented properly, but my last two experiences here have been nothing short of frustrating and underwhelming. It’s a real shame, because this used to be one of my go-to spots, but standards have clearly slipped, and it’s hard to justify spending money on food that feels rushed and carelessly prepared.
Let’s start with the gravy. If it weren’t for the fact that it came packaged in a box within a box, it would’ve gone absolutely everywhere. The tub hadn’t been properly sealed, and because of that, most of the gravy ended up leaking out and pooling inside the outer box. Luckily, the outer packaging is reasonably sturdy and contained most of the mess, but that’s not the point it simply shouldn’t have happened in the first place. The entire reason gravy is put in a sealed tub is to prevent this exact issue. It’s disappointing to see such basic attention to detail being overlooked, and it makes the meal feel messy and unprofessional before you even get to the food itself.
Next, the “extra saucy” wings. I ordered these with certain expectations, especially after seeing how they’re presented online. What I received, however, looked and tasted nothing like the photos or the description. They were completely lacking in sauce and flavour dry, bland, and nowhere near “extra saucy.” Even if the yogurt sauce was removed (which I chose to do), that shouldn’t have made such a huge difference. The term “extra saucy” suggests the wings themselves should be coated in a generous amount of sauce, something sticky, rich, and full of flavour not a few lightly seasoned wings that taste like they were an afterthought. I genuinely can’t see what separates these from the regular wings, and it feels misleading to label them as “extra saucy” when they clearly aren’t.
Then there’s the sweetcorn side dish. This was perhaps the biggest disappointment of all, because it’s something I’ve enjoyed here before. On previous orders, it’s always come warm maybe microwaved briefly, but still fresh, comforting, and well-seasoned. This time, it was completely cold, straight out of the fridge. The difference was night and day. Cold sweetcorn mixed with onion, seasoning, and mayo just doesn’t work; it loses all the appeal and texture that make it a nice side dish in the first place. It honestly felt like no care was taken in preparing it, as though it was just scooped out of a container and served without checking.
When you combine all these things together the spilt gravy, the underwhelming wings, and the cold side dish it paints a picture of a kitchen and team that aren’t paying attention to quality or consistency. That’s the most disappointing part, because I know from experience this place can be good. But the past two orders have been such a let-down that I don’t think I’ll be ordering from this particular branch again. There are plenty of other locations that manage to serve the same food properly, without the mess, the confusion, or the lack of care.
Overall, it’s a really below-par experience. Even giving 3 stars feels generous at this point, because while the food is edible, the overall execution and quality control just aren’t there. I genuinely hope they read reviews like this and take them seriously, because it wouldn’t take much effort to fix these issues — just a bit more attention to detail, consistency, and care. Until that happens though, I’ll be going elsewhere for my meals.
