Ordered the Mongolian Black Bean Chow Fun and I can't even begin to describe this! I want to say it was pretty much the worse chow fun I've tried, ever! So disappointed! First off, I was craving that typical greasy, beef chow fun that you find at Chinese hole-in-the-wall spots, but since I've tried food here before and I knew not the expect the typical Chinese, I was ready for a different flair (the differences I noticed is the food is less oily and tries to be more on the healthier side). I've tried that popular chicken dish a while back and it was good. Also got basil noodles and it was decent, but not the best. The crispy fried HK style noodle dish was a fail - noodles were too fried and it was too soggy at the same time. But, on to the main reason for this review.
Got my to-go order and took the first bite:
- Flavor was totally bland (by the way, the menu indicates spicy, but it was no where near any type of spicy)
- Noodles were hard! It's supposed to be soft
- Beef was dry and not tender
- I could taste the MSG (so much for attempting to be healthy! I know MSG is expected in any Chinese food, but this one was like overpowering!)
- Had to pay an extra $2.50 for beef ($12 for chow fun, ugh! otherwise it would've just been full of bell peppers, meh)
The only thing I can vouch for was that the dish was less oily than typical chow funs- but maybe that is the part that was missing! Maybe not though, because it was bland AF! No thanks!
Overall, I think this dish will remain as a reminder to not return. Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to hate so much on this place, the workers are nice, etc, but I can't picture myself spending money on food that I just cannot eat.
