A fine neighborhood bar, but I would not choose to come out of my way just to come here again.
Came here one night with my husband's soccer team and their wives and girlfriends - a pretty big bunch that was easily accommodated by the back room. College football played on the big screen, British football on the other. The room was dimly lit and COLD. Not a good sign when people are still wearing their overcoats inside.
The waitress who took our orders seemed completely uninterested in making sure we were having a good time. When I asked what beers were on tap, she went through the list - "Guinness, Harp, Bud Lite, a Christmas brew..." I asked her what the Christmas brew was like and she apathetically shrugged her shoulders. "I mean, what kind of flavors are in it? Is it nutty or sweet?" "Its pretty dark," was her reply. "Honestly, I don't know. If you want to know what the beer is like, you should go up to the front and ask." What?! Isn't it the job of someone working in a BAR to be able to describe what the drinks are like?! Thats like being a waiter and telling someone to go into the kitchen and ask the chef about the pork chops. Sheesh.
The food is heavy fried bar fare, nothing spectacular. There is live music - well, all I saw/heard was a one man guitar act. He did do some pretty sweet covers, including The Cure (huge props), but I was so disappointed by the atmosphere. No one (in the main room, where he was performing) seemed to even notice.
Certainly not the worst, but the atmosphere and the employees are certainly lackluster.
