Ñaño Review - Hell's Kitchen - New York - The Infatuation

"Ñaño is tiny, and it isn’t especially flashy, but it’s one of your best options for a casual meal in Hell’s Kitchen. The menu is Ecuadorian, with items like ceviche, tripe in a rich peanut sauce, and seco de chivo with big chunks of tender goat. Order the bandera if you want to try all three of these things, and be sure to get the bolón mixto—a grapefruit-sized ball of smashed plantain mixed with cheese and crispy pork. Despite the small space, it isn’t especially tough to get a table, and you can sit in a streetside structure if you want to eat outdoors." - Bryan Kim

Google
To be blatantly honest, I asked for a recommendation because I’m not familiar with ecuadorian food. I got handed a huge plate of different meats, the food wasn’t hot enough— it was room temperature. The food was very unseasoned in my opinion, I guess that’s why they have the salt and pepper on the tables. Very bland, but that just might be my take. And our bill was $93 not including tip! We only had 2 main courses and 2 smoothies not even dessert. However the price might’ve been the steak, the steak was good and the lentils in cheese were good, portions are really big. I asked how big it is and the waiter said standard size, I’m not sure about that haha. Might give another dish a try, maybe it was my bad pick.

5/5 Stars! I recently dined at Nanos restaurant and had an amazing experience. The Ecuadorian cuisine was authentic and delicious. The bollo and chicken wings were a highlight, with bold flavors and perfect spices. The service was attentive and friendly and the waiters ladies were very kind. Highly recommended for anyone looking to try traditional Ecuadorian food.

Most traditional food not in the menu, overuse of peanut in the Guatita, low flavor Encebollado and burnt patacones. Hope the food gets better because the atmosphere and service are great.

I was headed to Garcias Ecuadorian restaurant in Union City, NJ but this place was closer and I really wanted an Encebollado de Pescado (this place has it). I was excited cause it, Naños, was on my list of places to try. I was so disappointed and definitely dissatisfied with the quality of food and the non inviting atmosphere by the servers. Just very plain. I asked for the encebollado, waited and had my taste buds savory in anticipation, but what a shame. The taste was bland, even after adding the usual amount of lime, and worst of all it was cold. At first I thought it was the top layer as would happen after adding lime, but no, it was the entire bowl 🤔 The chifles were ok, but its chifles, and I didn’t even bother with the rice. First impressions are everything and this place failed. I left, even after the waitress asking if I wanted it reheated, I said no; you get this plate correct in the first try, you don’t reheat. Sadder still, I paid my entire bill for food, even though I returned it and didn’t want to take of it as I am on the road. Don’t recommend this place and won’t be back. Very disappointed. Try Garcias, Cipo, or Mamis Cafe for Ecuadorian food if you don’t want to be disappointed 🙏

I love to be O.

Very delicious food!!! Plates are big, I would say 2 to 3 people can eat from 1 plate. I would highly recommend the costillas with moro de lenteja.

I have always seen Ñaños to be packed all the time, tonight I decided to try it for myself. My expectations were open, but I do like Ecuadorian food. The portions were amazing, each dish we got was at minimum 2 meals, maybe 3. The flavors were outstanding. The service was good, our waitress was very attentive. I can see why this place is busy. Do note, that they do charge additional fee for credit cards, and they add a 10% gratuity in the bill already. We enjoyed the meal very much, with leftovers. We will be back again

Google
Great food ! Many customers on cellphones on speaker. Classless and rude. Large TV with America First Network playing — a room full of potentially undocumented people and the restaurant has ICE videos playing on TV. Get a grip. Play something more inclusive. Ownership is obviously ignorant.

Google
The service was excellent at ñaños. The waiters were attentive and the wait time for food was not long at all. The food is delicious and the portions are generous! I would recommend trying if you are in the area and looking for quality Ecuadorian food.

Yelp
This is a really nice restaurant and encompasses a lot of what the country of Ecuador is when it comes to their food. Service was good and the restaurant was packed. The food was very very good and had so much flavor in it. I think this was one of the best churrascos that I've had. The rice that I tried to was also very cheesy and delicious. I'll be back again.

Yelp
Food was amazing and the service was quick! I can't wait to tell more people about this place. I tried the shrimp and steak and would order both again.

Yelp
Nice Ecuadorian restaurant. 1) There are not many Ecuadorian restaurants around compared to other Latin American countries like Mexico, Colombia or Peru. So, very glad this Ecuadorian restaurant opened. The staff was very nice. 2) I got the CARNE AL GRILL, which was great. I also got the strawberry soda from Ecuador called Tropica. 3) They are also open late during the weekend. 4) Ñaño means 'brother' in Quechua, the Incan language found in Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, etc.

Yelp
Cute spot, good vibes and pretty tasty food. A bit overpriced but you're also paying for the ambiance. The lentil risotto was delish!!

Yelp
Another great review for these guys! Absolutely amazing food and service! Being Ecuadorian the expectations were high and they hit the mark! I had shrimp ceviche and the churrasco with red lentils. Perfectly seasoned and perfectly seared steak. Warm Quaker and a chocolate tres leeches rounded out the abundant food served. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
First time here. Pretty good. Huge bloom de verde w pinto. Lots of meat pieces. The side pieces were a little fatty. The bistek de carne that came w ugh was very tasty. Gets busy and service was friendly. Hope they continue to do well.

Yelp
I was so excited try their food since every time I pass by I see a lot of customers. Not sure why people hype up this place when the food is mediocre. Their prices are crazy....which I would justify if their food was any good...but it's definitely not!! I got carne con arroz y menestra - the steak was so so so bad. It was so hard to cut, no seasoning, and all fat. It was inedible! All I ate was the rice with the chimichurri sauce and a green sauce (I didn't even eat the beans because I found a hair in it, ugh). This was a very disappointing dinner! I would not recommend, this place brings shame to Ecuador. The only good thing about this place is the chimichurri sauce and that green sauce.

Yelp
Considering it's Father's Day and they were busy they get 2 stars otherwise zero. 1hr wait -understandable due to day. Get to the table guy takes the order. Brings back hot water, no cups or ice. Then my son and husband ordered encebollado (soup) comes out fairly quick 15 mins or so. My daughter and myself are also at the table. We wait another 20 minutes and we have to call the waiter over to see where our food is at, how do u only bring 2 of 4 meals to the table??? Very disrespectful. Then the waiter doesn't even apologize turns around and leaves. Then we wait another 20 minutes for our food. Food was ok, not great. Then tip was already included in the bill, normally I tip 20% or over but for the terrible service they would have gotten 10% if they were lucky. Not spending my hard earned money here. Go to el único across the street or the other Ecuadorian restaurant.

Yelp
I was so excited to learn that there was a nice Ecuadorian restaurant opening up in our neighborhood. So I took a chance and went on a raining day. The place was packed, which is a good sign and the food looked great, wonderful presentation. You need to use the link to review and order from the menu. But I was disappointed with the lack of choices of actual traditional plates. One soup choice, no sango, guatita, yapingacho, corbiche, cazuela, and I can go on. So if you don't know or like most Ecuadorian food you can choose steaks...which you can get anywhere including your own home. The service needs work, I chose one entree and two juices and was charged for an extra drink. They couldn't fix it so they gave me cash back less tax. The problem isn't the minimal difference of tax due back it was the indifference to the error. The order of fish with rice was excellent and the juices are delicious, but the prices were hefty. I guess their rent is high. I think you should try it out but you can go and get a real affordable, traditional plate in any other Ecuadorian restaurant.

Yelp
