Nantes is, in many ways, a correct and coherent proposal: another contemporary take on the castizo restaurant, one that feels perfectly logical for its location and for the current Madrid dining landscape. The menu revisits familiar flavors with a modern touch, and while nothing truly misfires, it sometimes leans more on concept than on genuine culinary excitement.
Where some doubts arise is in the balance between what is offered and the price point. The experience feels aligned with a certain idea of trendy neighborhood dining, but perhaps less so with the bill that arrives at the end of the meal.
The clear standout is the cheesecake, a dessert that condenses the best of the house: well executed, indulgent without being cloying, and with a texture and flavor that stay with you after the last bite. It is, without doubt, the dish that most justifies the visit and hints at what Nantes could become if the rest of the menu reached the same level.
