Nanu’s Hot Chicken - Review - Northeast Philly - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Some Nashville hot chicken places exist to test your internal thermometer, while others—like Nanu’s Hot Chicken in the Northeast—are just here to provide a little sizzle. Although their dining room is large, there are only a few round tables inside. If you snag a seat, you can look at the Philadelphia–themed murals on the wall while you wait for your order of tenders, sliders, mac and cheese, and crispy shrimp. Their spice levels span from mild and medium to hot, extra, and reaper (and we’ve eaten them all). But don’t avoid the inferno mountain top—the reaper has all the heat of a bag of Hot Fries, and unfortunately, the chicken lacks the same crunch." - Candis R. McLean

I tried Nanu’s chicken sandwich and it was really good! The chicken was crispy on the outside but still juicy inside, and the seasoning had just the right amount of flavor. The bread was soft and fresh, holding everything together perfectly. What I liked most was how balanced it felt – not too greasy, and the toppings added a nice freshness. Definitely a sandwich I’d go back for again.

Never been to this place. Chicken sandwich was good. But fries tasted like they sat under the lamp for a whole day. Very dry and seems like I was given the last batch. Waste of money.

Riding my bike around the cottman ave area, there is all these Nashville style chicken restaurants all along the ave that has popped up. I think today is a day to try one, and this is the one that I decided to go. As you go in, it has a great theme about it, very Philly is what I can say. Went up out in my order, your givin a receipt that has a number on it, there a loud speaker that will call your number when it’s ready, very streamlined, I enjoyed everything, I got a 3 piece tenders, waffles and fries. The tenders are huge, with a thin crispy outer shell, fat juicy meat inside. Waffles were tasty, fries seasoning was tasty as well. The only thing afterwards I couldn’t stop drinking water, so the food must be salty, it definitely doesn’t taste salty, just an after effect.

Regular at nanus really like their chicken sandwiches I always get #2 one with regular and other hot honey with fries. I even tried their Piña Colada really good. Tried the chocolate smoothie really good.

My first time entering I was taken aback by all the smoothie options. I really enjoy a good smoothie from time to time so today I went for my first smoothie. I ordered a chocolate caramel smoothie and the woman behind the counter made sure to note exactly how I wanted it asking all the right questions with a smile. After taking my order, she went to the back and seemed to be making sure it was made correctly. When the smoothie was ready, the presentation was great! It looked almost too good to drink though I'm really glad I did because the flavor was PERFECT!!! I will definitely be going there for my smoothie drinks from now on and can't wait to try all their other flavors!!! 10/10!

First time here. Parking is available on the street or you can park at the shopping center across the street. Space is huge. There is seating for customers. I ordered the #4 chicken sandwich and tender combo with fries. The chicken in the sandwich is the same as the chicken tender. Chicken was very juicy. I ordered a mild but the cashier put in medium, which wasn't a big deal, but definitely too spicy for me. The bread from the chicken sandwich helped with the spiciness. Additionally they forgot my pickles which I think would have also helped with the spice. It wasn't too busy so the restaurant needs better quality control to make sure orders were accurate. There was a credit card surcharge, which I don't have an issue with but they need to put up a sign so customers are aware.

Used the parking lot, easy to access from the side street. Clean atmosphere, quick service, and great food even though I ask for no spice and it’s still spicy 😂 that’s the only reason I four starred the food. But it’s always full of flavor and I end up coming back anyways.

I gotta first start off by saying how Cool this place is, Yassine is Amazing very knowledgeable and accommodating, I don’t eat meat but I was craving their BANGIN cauliflower sandwich but they were out of cauliflower, Yassmine ran out and bought fresh cauliflower and BABY when I say he hooked my sandwich up and added an extra special sandwich to accommodate me waiting is the best customer service I’ve experienced EVER!! I totally recommend Nanu”s chicken on Cottman Ave!

Yelp
I would recommend either calling in your order or doing it in person. I ordered online and the menu prices were more expensive. I notified the woman at the counter and she said there was nothing she could do. The food was outstanding tho, always is. Hot honey chicken sandwich al is a banger. They've got plenty of seating and the artwork is dope.

Yelp
Came here for a quick lunch. Regular nasheville hot chicken place. I tried their tenders extra hot. The spice level felt medium to hot to me, very doable (I can handle spice). Tenders on the skinny side but didn't taste plasticy like other hot chicken places in city. Comes with 1 sauce and a side of fries. Overall not bad but there are better chicken in the city. Inside they have a large seating area but I only used their take away.

Yelp
Return customer for sure. The food is great. Their tenders are over waffles and fries. Fries are incredible as is the chicken. The smoothies and the shakes are also really good. Plenty of seating inside as well.

Yelp
This place is pretty new and it's actually really big inside. The parking outside is plentiful with the park lots across the street. There is also indoor seating unlike Asads hot chicken down the street. The service was pretty good. The cashier and courteous and was pretty helpful at explaining some of the menu items. As far as the food goes, I did not get a chicken, I ordered the Manu #7 - loaded fries with hot chicken and sauce on top. The portion was pretty big, and I couldn't even finish it, there was about half left. The fries were crispy and fresh, and the chicken had a lot of flavor. Overall, I will definitely come back to the hot chicken location, and I do definitely prefer Manu's over Asads hot chicken.

Yelp
food and shakes are amazing. I got the tenders with the Carolina Reaper and an Oreo Cheesecake Shake. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Clean, halal, great service, fast, affordable and tasty food. How can you beat that? One of the best food spots in all of Philly.

Yelp
Garbage! Basically it's a piece of chicken smothered in hot sauce. Chicken had no flavor, truly bland. Fires is a joke within itself. Cheap fries and cheap oil plus over cooked fries equals trash. Service was the only good thing. Save your money, you can make this at home.

Yelp
This place has the most tender, juicy chicken in the area. The spice level is on point. It's the perfect balance of flavor. If you haven't checked them out, you have to give them a try. The tenders are out of this world.

Yelp
Place is brand sew so its still coming together, but the food was outstanding, guys behind the counter couldn't be nicer, place was spotless, if you don't feel like standing out in the elements for 30 minutes down the street at Asad's, this is the place.

Yelp
Another great chicken spot in the Northeast. The chicken was flavorful and the toppings were generously put. Amazing prices and the service was nice. Recommend checking them out!

Yelp
Great hot chicken sandwich. Have order multiple times. The only thing stopping me from giving it a 5:5 is there is no difference between the "Hot" and the "Extra Hot" sandwich and the lack of consistency of the portion size on the weekend vs the weekday.

Yelp
Food was meh. I could count on my fingers how many fries I received and the portions were truly disappointing. The chicken was bland and was carried by its outer sauce coating which still wasn't even that great. They were also stingy with the dipping sauce. I ordered a strawberry cheesecake smoothie and it had little to no cheesecake and all strawberry. Service was bad as well. I was one of the first people in the stores and people with bigger orders who came in after me were getting served first. The inside of the place is beautiful though. Overall my experience wasnt that great and I feel like its better to just go down the street to Asads

Yelp
This the second time I ordered from here for delivery and the food was cold both times. It was not coming from a far distance where the food should be cold. Secondly it was spicy and I asked for it not to be spicy and asked for cheese on fries and neither directions were followed. I gave them a second shot because I really wanted to like it but when you spend close to 40 dollars for food you can't it it's disappointing.

Yelp
This is a new spot in Northeast so the inside isn't quite finished yet- the walls are bare and the there is very little decor but that is totally understandable and doesn't take away from the experience in my opinion. The food is fantastic! The chicken is high quality- tender and juicy. Also, the chicken pieces are very large cuts. The spices they use are delicious and they are generous with it! Great taste in every bite! The fries were hot and fresh and the dipping sauce they provide is wonderful! The staff was very friendly and greeted me as soon as I opened the door.

Yelp
Went in with my cousin place was dead, they took 10 mins to get the food ready , sandwiches were trash, fries looked premade. NEVER GOING BACK!!

Nathan R.

Yelp
I expected the food to be better than ASADS but oh boy i was wrong, fries were soggy and cheese on the fries was cold
