Yelp
I'm torn. On the one hand, this place is close, and the guy running the floor is extremely polite and helpful. The drink service is also really speedy and friendly, and a majority of the players that I encountered were super nice and welcoming. As a new player, I enjoyed this for most of my night.
Let me begin by saying that the atmosphere here is pretty chill, and while it lacks the bells and whistles of some other casinos in Northern California, the energy here is really quite good. I was skeptical at first about the whole tiny tent in a parking lot, but they make it work, that's for sure.
As for a the poker, I played here late on a Saturday evening. Got in around 10, and ended up getting into a 4/8 limit game about an hour later while waiting for a seat at the no limit game. I don't mind, I had a couple of hours to kill and just wanted to play. Game started off good, and for the first hour or so I was fairly card dead but was enjoying the company of the players to my right. Then I had the good fortune of winning a couple of large pots with pocket kings.
Suddenly the lad on my left decided that he would harass me the remainder of my stay at the table. Mocking my play, openly talking trash to me about my hand selection, laughing loudly when I would lose a pot, slamming chips around and taunting me to call. Honestly, it didn't shake me at all, he is free to act like a child if he wants. I've played much larger games than this with much better players than this bum.
But what upset me was that none of my three dealers ever told him to stop. It was disruptive and disrespectful, and he did not do this to just me. He had done this to other players, telling them that they were bad and suggesting that they leave the table and play other games. If the floor hears things like this I feel that they have an obligation to say something. It creates a hostile and unpleasant place to play. I'm not personally intimidated by runts like this guy. They pop up from time to time. But I can imagine this would really be a deal breaker for newer players or even folks who are simply a bit less combative and mouthy than I am.
I hope that this was an outlier. As I said, most of the folks that I interacted with here were great. The dealers are the only question mark for me. Aside from not telling this individual to settle down they also do this odd thing where they will throw cards into the muck as they're turned over, even if they're best, simply keeping tabs of the winning hand in their heads. It is strange, and I feel like it could lead to error. It didn't happen during my time playing, but an Ace high board led to both players having an Ace, one with a King kicker one with a Queen. AK showed first and was thrown in the muck, and when AQ showed they thought they had won. The dealer had to fish the cards out of the muck, which I have never seen before. It was just strange, and it seems like it could lead to confusion and problems. Again, didn't happen during my play, but just something to be aware of.
I'll probably be back, because it is close and I really liked the floor guy and the servers. There are also a lot of really nice and chill people playing here. But I don't want to play somewhere that allows harassment and intimidation, so I really hope that that doesn't happen again.
