How to Plan the Perfect Trip to Naples, Italy

"The city is served by Naples-Capodichino International Airport, identified by the code NAP; it is located only about three miles outside of the city center and is the primary air gateway for Naples." - Laura Itzkowitz Laura Itzkowitz Laura Itzkowitz is a writer and editor based in Rome. This airport is well organized and lovely. It is clean, with lots of food, drink, and shopping options, and we love that they have couches in the waiting areas for maximum comfort and that work great for taking a nap. I am happy with the design of the airport and that everything is close together.

Google
Naples Airport is a small but efficient airport that offers a surprising number of daily flights to destinations around the world on a variety of airlines. Its compact size makes it easy to navigate—you can get from one part of the airport to another quickly, and going through immigration is usually fast and smooth. While it doesn’t have all the amenities you might find at a larger international airport, the essentials are covered. Signage is generally clear, and if you do need assistance, the staff are helpful and approachable. Overall, a convenient and pleasant airport experience.

Google
I like it! It's not too big but everything is well organised and flows easy. After security check there is decent duty-free shop and numoreous food and drink options.

In my 30 years of living and traveling throughout Europe, Naples International Airport stands out as one of the most disorganized and confusing airports I’ve ever used. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that signage and wayfinding are severely lacking. For first-time visitors, there’s little to no guidance on where to go, which results in people wandering aimlessly and trying to make sense of the chaos — a kind of confusion that felt uniquely Italian in character. When departing, the situation was no better. Entering the check-in hall, I found myself stuck in a crowd near the entrance, only to realize much later that the area we were supposed to go to was actually wide open and nearly empty. Many travelers, including myself, were standing in the wrong place simply because there was no clear signage, no visible staff guidance, and no organized flow. It took me at least five minutes of studying departure boards and observing other passengers’ movements to figure out where to go. What struck me most was that this isn’t due to a lack of space or resources — but rather a lack of oversight and attention from airport management. This airport could run far more smoothly with some thoughtful planning and clear communication. Unfortunately, it seems that such basic operational care is missing. That said, I do want to point out that the on-site staff were working hard and even seemed stressed, moving quickly and doing their best to keep things running despite the chaos. Their effort was evident — and frankly, it made me feel sorry for them, as they’re left to carry the weight of poor systems set by higher-level management. Naples is a stunning city with so much beauty and culture to offer. It’s a shame that so many travelers end or begin their journey with such a negative impression caused by this airport. If Italy wants to present Naples to the world with pride, this airport must be improved — and that requires serious attention from public authorities and political leadership.

Google
Worst airport I’ve ever been to. Here goes: — General disorganisation and lack of signage. — The air conditioning was practically non-existent. — Hardly any seating available. — There was also an alarm going off at the gate repeatedly while we waited. — Gate change last minute. — Flight delayed. — The water fountain was broken and the coffee vending machine gave us hot milk. I will be avoiding this airport at all costs in the future!

I recently traveled through Naples Airport (Aeroporto di Napoli) in Italy, and overall, my experience was a bit mixed, leading me to rate it 3 stars. The airport had a nice, festive atmosphere, as it was beautifully decorated for the New Year, which was a pleasant touch and added a bit of holiday cheer to the travel experience. However, there were several aspects that detracted from the overall convenience. The wait times were quite long, particularly at security and check-in. The process felt inefficient, and it added unnecessary stress to the travel experience. It wasn’t just the wait at check-in; there seemed to be delays in other parts of the airport as well, making the entire process feel sluggish. Customer service was decent but nothing exceptional, landing at a 5/10. Staff members were polite, but I didn’t feel they went out of their way to assist or provide clear information. I expected a bit more in terms of service, given that it’s an international airport. One of the more uncomfortable aspects was walking out to the plane in the rain. This was especially inconvenient as I had to stand outside in the weather, which is never ideal. Furthermore, the international flight area felt somewhat isolated from the rest of the airport, with limited access to bathrooms and dining options. This was a bit frustrating, as there were few amenities in that section, which made the wait feel even longer. While Naples Airport has its strengths, particularly with its festive decorations and good location, the long wait times, less-than-ideal customer service, and lack of amenities for international flights are significant downsides. I would recommend preparing for a less-than-smooth experience if you're passing through this airport.

We had a flight from 06:00 am. We went to the airport since at 22:00 the day before. We planned to stay there like you would do on any normal airport. The security was closed half an hour before the closing hours, we were not able to enter in the gate area. At 00:20 we were informed that we have to vacate the building. They said that we can get back in 2 hours but the airport opens at 03:30. Also the staff said that there is a coffee nearby, but there was not really. Not to mention that people with families and kids were forced out as well. What a nice way to close a trip to Italy. Dear borad let the people with early flights to stay or at least inform them in time about your unique rules.

Gábor Hencz

Google
Well I cannot give more than 3 stars. The waiting area at the gates for the low cost flights is a joke. There is not enough space, don't even think about sitting down. People are crossing each other's paths while boarding different flights, it's a mess. And the boarding process itself is very long as there is only 1 parking spot for the buses. Otherwise it's a clean airport and the security check was fast.

Yelp
Caotico, pazzesco, molto Napoli.

Yelp
Naples, Italy. The most 'freeform airport' I've experienced. I got to use NAP 2x, inbound from IST, and outbound. The first visit was 12/1/24 during rush hour and it's very busy. Most flights are boarded outdoors as NAP is smaller relative to the number of flights serviced daily. The second was my return flight home via IST. Both times however I was able to use the small tech room to charge my electronics via 8 wall outlets. There are many charge stations throughout the waiting area and they service USB-A connections, much slower. When boarding begins each airline has its own protocols so be aware. Also gate announcements are made 30 min prior to departure times so you want to be super alert. Leave enough time cushion for unforeseen events like overcrowding in boarding areas, a bus to the plane and gate changes. Some users think NAP is chaotic; it can be. The positive to the experiences at NAP is food and clothes and sundries shopping: there are top notch stores, panettone even a Venchi outpost. The panini, sfogliatelle (2.3€) and pastries I've tested at NAP are top notch and for 5-7€ a piece, it's a bargain. Even cheaper is coffee, an espresso is 1.5€. Boarding is by zone and love that they board planes from the back seats to front: sensible and convenient. All in all a good average airport with superior food and shopping. End of Yelp.

Yelp
Coming from London to this airport was very fast. As soon as we got off the plane, our checked bag was already there waiting for us. Going through customs was very fast, but the employees looked as if they did not want to be at work. There were no issues with any of the staff, and everyone seemed helpful if you had any questions.

Yelp
Terminal 5 Heathrow and Singapore Changi Airport it is not! The Naples Airport has not kept pace with the growth of travel to southern Italy. Further investment and expansion is needed.

Yelp
FINALLY ! My wife and I landed at Naples Airport around 6 pm on Sept 20th. It had been a very long and arduous journey to get here. HA HA ! We exited the plane down a mobil staircase on the tarmac and boarded a small bus to take us to the terminal. We then collected our checked in luggage and were met by our limo driver who was holding a card with my wife's name on it. NEXT STOP SALERNO ! NOTE - Of course with over 22 million views of my Yelp reviews and pics world wide in 2022 I can tell you what is great !

Yelp
Such a confusing airport and very rude employees. No one wanted to answer our questions. Find a better way to get to Italy.

Yelp
My first new airport in a year! It might be international, but compared to what I'm used to, this is a city airport. They have a few jetbridges but my arrival and departure were both using a rolling stairs and a bus to the terminal. I hate bus transfers! Because my flights were domestic, I had no customs or immigration here. That was accomplished at Rome Fiumicino and then an ITA Airways connection to here in Naples. Easy to navigate, a decent bus connection to Napoli Centrale rail station to catch the trains and other buses. It's not a big airport, so finding the correct ticket counter is easy. As a Delta Diamond Medallion, I was able to use the "Fast Track" security lane and make my way to the lounge. Yes, there's a lounge here. [Review 19111 overall - 286 in Italy - 81 of 2023.]

Yelp
Absolute chaos. Until today, I had never heard a pilot trash an airport. today, was a first. the pilot trashed the ground crew for making his passengers wait 40 minutes for buses to arrive to unload them and then trashed the airport mgt for being so poorly managed that we are now holding on the tarmac for over an hour (and waiting) to get a departure time) because the airport is over saturated. it's worse than most of the developing countries I've lived in, probably all countries. not sure what to say other than if you can avoid this airport, DO!

Yelp
Nothing special but it is a nice airport. I don't know what to say about it but yeah.
google avatar

Yelp
Few places to sit in gate area. One bathroom in area B and it was unusable. Shithole. On the other hand, friendly quick check in as long as you are flying Fast Track.

Yelp
Outdated airport, but gets the job done. Lots of cafes with exceptional food choices, you definitely know you are in Italy! The airport is perpetually crowded, people hurriedly trying to get to their gates. Not everything is well marked so make sure to give yourself time. Bathroom facilities just ok, the kind of toilets with no lid. If you are taking a taxi to your final location, there aren't many signs. When you exit the baggage claim area there are very aggressive taxi drivers everywhere vying for your business. While there are flat rates established that they are supposed to follow, they don't. So be prepared! My destination was Sorrento and while I could have taken a train for under $10 Euros, after a long 30+ hours of travel due to the first flight being cancelled and 7 hours to rebook, and three flights later, I had no interest in dealing with a train. It was 5pm and what should have been a flat $65 to Sorrento an hour away, I couldn't find a driver willing to take me there for under $150. Yep, you heard me correctly. So I had to suck it up and agree to the fare. The drive out of Naples was scary, my driver with foot to the floor and inches from other cars and motorcycles, it was terrifying. At the first toll booth I made him pull over to fix the defective seatbelt and to ask him to please slow down. Yikes. Was never so happy to finally arrive at my hotel and destination!

Yelp
Love this airport. Sure I'm biased because my office is literally next door and I can walk to the gateway of Europe but it is a great airport. Noisy...sure. Crazy at times...you bet. Fabulous people full of passion eating really good food while waiting for their plane...my heavens YES! Energy is good. Most people are friendly. Plenty of seating and places to have a cafe, beer and grub. You can easily grab an Alibus and be off to the train station or anywhere else. One word of caution...the taxi drivers are notorious for their high prices. Take the bus or haggle them down.

Yelp
A major perk of this position has been the unique travel locations I've found myself in over the past two years. Naples, Italy airport is a most recent picturesque spot. Transitions between checkin, security and an adequately stocked restaurant row, especially since it was just recently reopened, after the covid shutdown. While I was reassured that should/when I return, they will he fully operational and beautiful again, my experiences her were stellar and noteworthy. I flew Alitalia from naples to Roma. Then Roma to Cairo via Egypt Air. Egypt Air had the heavy-duty leg of my return flight, leaving Cairo on to Nairobi. The upgrade to first class was enough to get a smile and loads of complements of Egypt Air, causing Mr to challenge Kenya Air and Ethiopia Air to treat me so good. I arrived back in Mombasa around 2pm, in time to stop by my new favorite spot locally, Kingston Beach Lounge, located in the Nyali section of Mombasa. The owners seized on the post corona19 desire to get out, to open a great beachfront spot with awesome views, firey chicken wings and chipsi (French fries) and other finger lickin good dishes. And of course, cold Tuskers and other tropical drinks to keep you company as you listen and shake it to the sounds of live music. See ya next week Kingston

Yelp
Nice airport. Nothing fancy, but gets the job done. Restrooms are actually pretty modern, but the rest seems a bit old. Still in and out.

Arelys Q.

Yelp
Small airport, but I must say it was very clean and passing through security was quick and organized. They have plenty of duty free shops and restaurants. Very easy to get around.
google avatar

Jessica N.

Yelp
Pretty small airport with pretty good food and coffee. Ordered some croissants and they cane out fresh and hot. Security tries to be pretty fast and efficient. Some of the stores open a lot later when they said they would but that's the Italian lifestyle I guess.
google avatar

Yelp
The worst airport I've ever experienced. Not enough staff, and the staff they have are rude and not willing to help anyone. The airport is too small, and it is complete and utter chaos as a result. All flights cancelled and then they would not even give us our bags back for hours. The bags were soaking wet as they left them on the tarmac during a thunderstorm. I wish we could report this airport somehow. Never again will I fly out of Naples. All of the people whose flights were cancelled took train to Rome to fly back to the US. We were trapped in a hell hole of Napoli airport with no representation from the airline and zero help from the staff. And not to mention their Wi-Fi expires so no one could use their phones to call for help.
google avatar

Mica L.

Yelp
The only euro airport I've been to that offers some seating with outlets---appreciated that. The coffee & pastries here were good, & there's plenty of options. The travel desk agents here were very helpful with guiding me with getting to Capri island. I truly appreciate them overly explaining themselves, writing everything down, & making sure I was good before I took off.

Yelp
The cab situation here is amazingly bad ... taxi drivers just wait to prey on tourists. We arrived in Naples in the early afternoon after a 10 hour flight, including layovers and were going to the ferry to take us to Ischia. There is a supposed 'set rate' that cab drivers must follow ... the information desk at the airport told us about this rate. 22 Euro flat to the city of Naples, including the cruise port. She told us not to pay a dime more. When you walk outside, a hoard of aggressive cab drivers descend on you telling you to walk this way, walk this way. They'll grab at your suitcases trying to pull you in that direction. When you get to the cab area, it becomes clear that all the drivers work together and you are basically plunged into a giant circle of testosterone and negotiation. We were told that there was no 22 Euro 'flat rate' ... we could take our chance with the meter rate (and I've heard horror stories of 100 Euro cab rides through all kinds of circumventing routes ...) OR ... $60 flat. After verifying what the info. desk lady said, that the rate was 22 Euro flat rate, I showed the drivers a corresponding official site on my phone which showed 22 Euro flat. No ... no ... they said. It's 60 Euro. Italians can be very scary/aggressive negotiators. Lots of hand gestures, close face to face talking and strong language. I fancy myself as a decent negotiator but I was getting nowhere. Finally, we turned to walk away and we heard, "Ok. OK. 35 euro." Our bags were put into the trunk and I verified that the cabs take credit cards as every ATM machine in the airport was not working. The info. desk lady assured us that most cabs in Naples take credit cards. "No credit cards. Cash." is what the driver told me. I told him we had no cash. "Okay. Credit card. (Miraculously a credit card machine appeared) But it is 50 Euro." I told him no ... more aggressive negotiation, which included some awkward pauses where he would look down for 10 seconds without speaking. Finally, he said, "Ok. Ok. Ok. 40 Euro." At this point, we felt stuck and agreed, regretting letting them put our bags in the trunk and not taking the shared bus, which was 5 Euro per person and took 30-40 minutes vs. 10 - 15 minutes in a cab. (Minus the 5 frustrating minutes of scary bartering.) Naples gets a bad rap ... sure, it's a bit dirty. But the people were generally fantastic and the food was the best we ate in all of Italy. However, right from the start we were conditioned for a negative first impression based on just getting from the airport to the city. For this reason, I would do everything I could to avoid flying into Naples. If I do next time, I am heading right for the shared bus! I will never again take Uber for granted. There is no Uber in Naples ... so they have you over a barrel when it comes to transportation rates and will overcharge if you are a tourist.

Yelp
Not the worst airport. Gets you to where you need to go. Clean. Restrooms smell terrible. It could be worse. Keep your expectations low and you will be fine.

Katie V.

Yelp
I was missing luggage for days, tried calling multiple times a day and refused to tell me/give updates on my luggage. When they told me it would arrive finally, I received an email saying it was too damaged to deliver. When I arrived at the airport I was missing multiple items and they sent me to file a claim with the police, who spoke no english and yelled in italian. I went back to the security to find someone else to help on what to do and instead of helping, they laughed and said there was nothing they could do to help me. Dissatisfied with my experience and the people working disrespectful and insensitive.
google avatar

Ric T.

Yelp
Modern international airport. Hustle, hustle, hustle. Same amenities as other ports. Lots of snack bars and vending machines. Signs are pretty clear, and available in English. While in here, it was a bit tedious to find an abundance of empty seats. Staff is pretty helpful. Getting aboard was much easier than the airports in the US.
google avatar

Yelp
This airport can be a real hit or miss. This last time we flew out of here it was a complete disaster. We flew through check in and security but once we got to the gates where they stamp your passport....holy hell! We spent at least an hour trying to get through a crowded, disorganized mess. But we have never experienced this previously. Make sure to leave yourself enough time to get around here. Many signs are in Italian only and most employees do not speak English in this airport so it can be difficult to navigate. Add on the possible long, disorganized lines and you may need the 3 hours recommended for international flights.

William K.

Yelp
I like this airport! My first impression of this place was a strong one when I flew in from Paris. Within a few minutes, we were already at our gate. Not every airport can say that about themselves. On both occasions I was here, we did need to be bussed to and from our plane - a minor inconvenience but nothing that would take away from my experience here overall. Baggage does take a while to be delivered. The washrooms are surprisingly clean and modern when you factor in the rest of the airport in regards to how dated some areas look. Leaving Naples, the security line was quite long at 4:30-5am but it was moving fairly quickly. However, given the airport chaos that is happening everywhere this was kind of to be expected. I like how compact the terminal is though, it's small enough that it's not chaotic yet it's not big enough that you'll get lost trying to find your gate. This airport also has good amenities throughout, both before and after security. Staff are also helpful and are willing to answer any questions you have courteously.
google avatar

Stefanie C.

Yelp
My poor husband was stressed out of his mind trying to navigate the Naples Airport. It's such a tiny place with a limited number of gates, so you need to be hypervigilant. There's a "master screen" right when you enter the airport constantly updating with flight information that doesn't always match what you find online. It took forever to find our airline counter (TAP) because it was combined with many others and not listed on any of the screens. There was only one person at the concierge, so we waited awhile before being able to ask one simple question. They were nice and patient, though. I'm always impressed by how many languages and cultures these concierge staffers can understand. I do enjoy the cleanliness here, especially in the cafe areas. I don't recall having any concerns there. Since the airport is so small, you have to actively listen for gate changes and pay attention to which line you're in. As long as you can do that, you'll probably survive at Naples Airport.
google avatar

Timothy T.

Yelp
Napoli airport is a medium sized facility. There is only one terminal so it no worries about where to go. Once we arrived we were told we could not get bags checked until an hour before boarding. Because this was a domestic flight we didn't have to be there as early as we were. Baggage check was routine with no positive nor negative issues and the plane left on time.
google avatar

Sonia A.

Yelp
Ahhhh what can I say about this place without insulting the city....it's probably the best part of Napoli. I mean I was lucky to have been there for one night only and had a beautiful hotel room but the city around it was so dirty and runned down..which made the airport one of the nicest places to 'visit'! : / If you're flying on American which we were please give yourself plenty of time to find their check in counter as it is not very noticeable and only like two people working there for American. It was nerve recking cause we were close to losing our flight because we couldn't find the counter and everyone was sending us different places. Not very helpful nor friendly people there. The only semi-friendly people were the guards with super heavy duty rifles. Anyway, other than that, the airport is ok just difficult to understand where to go for your gates and then you have to go through massive amounts of stores to get to security and gates! Not a big fan of this airport! I gave it to star because at least it was clean...

Yelp
First I wanna say I'm glad there are picture signs cuz not everything at this airport is translated. Certain areas of the airport are really nice especially with their lounges! It's not Italy either without their fashion boutiques and art paintings or sculptures. Wish I had more time to lounge. But then you get to the gates and you're S.O.L. if you didn't grab a drink way out there where the lounges are. They have vending machines at the gates. Arriving or departing, everything is electronic; scan your passport or flight pass. This is cool high-tech. The part that sucks is if the machine says "auto help", employees aren't readily available at the security stand. Walk over to the priority line and kind of cut; flag down the 3 employees helping one group. I need one of you please... Omg grazie. Outside they have armed guards. To be expected, yeah. Just a little different from the U.S. where ours are undercover except in the airport security. Overall experience is not so hassling. I'm leaning on a 3.33*** rating. Plus points on the high-tech stations and lounge areas.

Maddelen G.

Yelp
it's ok, but hard to contact a person who can help with loss of luggage. I have been calling since July 19th. i have called different numbers. I have yet to get a call back with an answer on when I will get my luggage. it has been found but was told it will be delivered, when? I don't know. no one to talk too. frustrating!!!

Yelp
Okay after spending a week in Greece it was time to head over to Italy, and this airport was basically my first experience of the country, and I have to admit that the word chaos really doesn't do it justice. Okay, that is probably a little unfair since I have been to some far more chaotic places than Italy, but confusing really does have a place in this review. Actually, I spent I don't know how many hours here trying to work out where to go, and then waiting for the hotel shuttle bus that simply never seemed to arrive. Oh, and honking horns and whistles also seemed to be part and parcel of this place.
google avatar

Lisa J.

Yelp
Check in was very quick and they are very efficient. However i would recommend NOT going anywhere near the taxis. They are extremely aggressive with tourists and there is the Alibus which is just outside arrivals to the right and costs €5 into the ciry centre 35 minutes away. Italians are highly expressive, they will shout, gesture a lot but they are mainly friendly speak somewhat good English. Naples is kind of dirty, it's a good base to stay but i would suggest visiting sites such as vesuvius and Pompei and get the ferry to the Amalfi coast.

Yelp
This used to be a regional airport mostly to Rome before RyanAir and the others moved in, so it's small with few services, but it has what you need (free wifi, quick security lines, decent food options, etc.). Check-ins are shortly before the flight, so don't get here too early. Much better is to check-in online to avoid the lines, unless you need to drop a bag, and then use the machines. Immediately after check-in, go thru security for better shopping, restaurants/deli, and seating. The first place is like a deli with a full bar and reasonable prices, nothing like you'll pay in most other airports. Pay for everything at the cashier where the coffee is, and then get your stuff. Farther down are more food and shopping options and a couple nice, sit-down restaurants. Also, more comfy chairs, some with charging stations. All in all, a very nice airport. Far better than the typical US airport but not quite as good as a stellar international airport like Hong Kong or Dubai.

Yelp
I was not very pleased with this Naples airport experience. The check in process was very straightforward and there were bathrooms close to the entrance. The signs were slightly confusing to get to the security point. Security went very fluidly. This airport is very small but it does offer a lot of restaurants. My experience with my particular gate was not a positive one. After you checked in, everyone was filed into a holding pen where we waited for over an hour to get onto buses to then wait another 10 minutes in close hot buses before walking onto the plane. We had to walk from the bus onto the tarmac up stairs onto the plane. I am not sure how handicap travelers would be able to get onto the plane as there is no elevator option. The flight was also two hours delayed.

Yelp
A small airport, but at least it's not so big you'll get lost. It has some shops and places to eat while you wait for your flight. When I was there it was busy and bustling since I had a morning flight. Nel complesso Napoli è stata bellissima! Non vedo l'ora di tornare nel loro piccolo aeroporto e cercare un po 'di divertimento in città

Yelp
Why 3 stars? Because it was an A-OK experience during our brief time here. --- --- --- We flew in from London and it was my first time on a plane where we exited from both sides, so that was different. Not sure if that's a Naples airport thing, or just because of the type of plane we were on, but it was interesting nonetheless. It only took us about 10 minutes to get through customs. Unlike the other two times I visited customs (Toronto, London) this person did not say a word to me. I don't think he even looked up. Not that I need a bubbly passport stamper, but his apathy was amusing to me. We then headed toward the exit, where we quickly spotted our driver who was taking us to Positano. We were only here briefly, but looking around at the surroundings, nothing stood out much as super nice, or in bad shape. It was the definition of a 3-star experience.

Yelp
I highly recommend NOT taking an international flight out of Naples. It is much better to take the early morning flight to either Munich or Frankfurt, go thru customs there for the international flight back to the states. Naples is a fairly small airport and is just not set up for handling large international flights. First, we went to the one lounge and it was full - standing room only. Then, because we didn't know how long it would take, we went thru customs and to the gate to wait. The area on the other side of customs is very small and cramped. There is no lounge on the other side of customs. There were no seats open - standing room only. It was hot humid and muggy. We were sweating profusely. Our plane was delayed 2 hours and we just had to stand there. Meanwhile they needed to board other planes that were leaving on time, and it was total chaos for the people trying to push their way through the crowd to get on their plane. Good luck pushing your way through the crowd to find a restroom. If we had stayed on the other side of customs, then we would at least have been in the air conditioning and had access to the shops and restrooms. There's no jetway. So "priority boarding" means you get to climb onto the bus first and then sweat some more baking in the hot bus while you wait for the rest of the passengers to board the bus. Then when you get out to the plane, you're the last to get off the bus onto the plane. The staff seemed incompetent. There were no gate agents to ask for help in changing flights or seats. There were no intelligible announcements in the gate area of what was going on. All in all a very frustrating, hot, sweaty experience. On other trips I have done through Naples, I have always just taken the early morning short flight up to Munich or Frankfurt, and it has been much easier that way.

Yelp
It feels like a regional airport that's going through puberty! There's a fair amount of activity in the terminal as an increasing amount of traffic uses the airport. As a result, there's a decent amount of shopping and a number of cafes to grab a bite or a beverage. Security was relatively uneventful with no major lines which was a nice surprise. Depending on where you're staying in Naples, it's about a 20-30 minute taxi ride to the airport. By European standards, the airport is rather close to the city, which is great. No Uber in Naples. So I've mentioned a bunch of positives, why the 3 star review? On my way back to the US, I flew the new seasonal direct flight to Newark. The international portion of the terminal is just a couple of gates behind passport with no amenities. So, make sure you're well fed and hydrated before getting your passport stamped as there is nothing behind it, other than a vending machine. Additionally, the United flight is way too big for the amount of space they have dedicated to the gates. Since there is a secondary security check at the gate, this huge flight of passengers was a bit disorganized. Not sure who at United or the airport thought this was a good logistical set up. Needless to say, the flight left nearly an hour late. Lots of kinks to work out, particularly when you might have a connection in the US. Barely made my connection (Global Entry saved me). The appropriate word in Italian to describe the scene is CASINO! That said, if you're visiting this area in Italy, it's a necessary evil to use this airport.

Yelp
Very impressed with the Naples airport. Arriving 10 days ago was a little tough because the bus to Sorrento wasn't clearing marked. A little bit off property. The airport feels very modern and comfortable. Security was very easy using scanners to get past the first security point. Once you placed your belongs on the belt for X-ray, the security officer scanned your boarding pass again. Plenty of duty free shopping and assorted food. The gate waiting area was also comfortable with leather chairs. Enjoyed arriving and departing from the Naples airport.

Yelp
This airport size is rather deceiving from the gate/departure area. I believe there were about 60 check in areas, but it was a complete and total cluster trying to locate our specific airline - Aegean. We even asked an airport employee and they pointed us in the wrong direction. We had to locate the info desk to find the correct check-in area as it wasn't marked very well. Even after getting into the appropriate line, we were still a little concerned we weren't in the correct line, because it was such a mess. Once thru security, the airport was pretty nice. A lot of duty-free and gift shop options, as well as eating places. The seating areas by the eating areas are also nice - couches and spacious/open areas. By the gates, its a different story - crowded and limited seating at each gate.

Yelp
Aeroporto Internazionale di Napoli is a modern and well organized airport in Napoli, Italy. The airport offers unlimited free WIFI, VIP lounges, half a dozen restaurants, and over twenty different shops ranging from high-end designers, electronics and duty free shopping. Stop by Venchi for one last gelato before you board your plane! Rush hour traffic is terrible on the weekdays so give yourself at least an extra half an hour to commute to the airport Monday thru Fridays. We didn't encounter any of this traffic when we returned our car rental on a Saturday so we had plenty of extra time to window shop before going to our gate. TIP: Aeroporto Internazionale di Napoli now offers a new Fast Track pass option. The Fast Track pass allows passengers to skip the lines in security. Fast Track passes are available for €5 at automated kiosks located on the first floor of the airport, just before the access ramp to Security Control.

Yelp
My husband and I were staying in Sorrento and were on our way to the Naples airport to catch our flight to Munich, Germany. Oh my gosh, I have never been in traffic like that before! We had over 3 hours to get to the airport too. We thought we were going to be late for our flight! As soon as we got to the airport, we were literally running to check-in. We were with Lufthansa airlines which was all the way to the right once you enter the main entrance. The airport has two terminal buildings: Terminal 1 is for departing travelers and Terminal 2 is for charter operations. They had a machine were you could check in. Something happened with my information and it didn't spit out my ticket. We checked in with one of the staff and they were able to print my ticket and of course, my husband and I got to sit next to each other. Everyone spoke English which just made the process easier. Overall, the process was very quick at this airport, from checking in our luggage, security, and boarding. I was fearful that we would be late for our flight since we were cutting it close, but we made it right on time. (This would never be possible at Los Angeles International Airport aka LAX)The airport itself was clean and the staff overall was pleasant when we looked lost. I wish we had arrived at the airport earlier, because there were a lot of food shops that I would have wanted to check out! (Pizzeria Restaurant Fratelli La Bufala, Blu Bar, Ciao, Briciole bar etc.) They even have a Victoria's Secret, makeup and other various gourmet shops. 159/100 Reviews for 2014

Yelp
Airport is about 20-25 minute taxi ride to Napoli center. Not much to report on this one, easy to get your VAT refund here. The main terminal is pretty big, has lots of places to eat (no necessarily good) and some good lounge options. It has some areas with outlets to charge your devices which is nice. No priority line at security, but it goes by pretty quick. If you are arriving here, don't let the cabs rip you off, it shouldn't be more than 25 euros to city center, make them use the meter and watch them! they will try to turn it off when you get close to your destination.

Yelp
After coming in on a redeye flights from London, I can say that getting through this airport to my luggage to the outside world in Naples was incredibly easy and incredibly fast! I only wish that most airports around the world where is easy and fast as this airport! Too bad the Italian traffic doesn't work as efficiently, but hate we can't have everything can we? Absolutely love this airport!

Yelp
Compareable small airport with very short distances to walk. During peak hours you need to plan some safety margin due to long waiting times. Several Bistro´s / Restaurants are offering a good selection of food + drinks. All in all; good Airport!

Yelp
Small airport but easy to get into and out of. I had no issues here, get my bags and find the exit. This is a smaller airport so there are limitations to flying in and out of but otherwise this airport has the basics

Yelp
It was busy boarding the flight but all in all not bad. Security was efficient, the service, while not overly friendly meet the mark and was fine. The shops at the airport were fine, we were boarded efficiently (that word again) and the staff did well, kudos all around. We took a Lufthansa flight, so German efficiency coupled with Italian flair, well done all around. What was telling was their security had a neat system where the bins were big, they did not make you take off your shoes (why do that in the US?) and the attendants did their jobs. Frankly think the US TSA could learn something from them. Shopping was great and you had to walk through the duty free shop to get to your gat, easy and smart planning for folks who are pressed for time. Plus the duty free shop was well stocked. All around not a bad experience.

Yelp
Clean airport with lots of shopping and decent food options. We flew to Gatwick from here and tried Bar Bricole. Really tasty foccacia pizzas and sandwiches for a reasonable price. Be fore warned though that everyone cuts in front of each other when in line but it's ok - just stick up for yourself!
