Narbona Key Biscayne - Review - Key Biscayne - Miami - The Infatuation

"Narbona’s fluffy gelato is worth the slightly stressful strip mall parking situation. But so is the full meal you can have here. Sit outside with the cacti if it’s nice out, eat a giant chivito (Uruguay’s national sandwich that coincidentally contains zero goat), and watch the kiddos pop out of Toy Town with Lego sets they’ll never finish. The pasta here is fine, but we prefer the pizzas, specifically the Key Biscayne pizza topped with prosciutto and large shavings of parmesan. They also have a fantastic fugazzeta-style pizza stuffed with onions and more cheese than a key rat could ever dream of." - Virginia Otazo

While we were visiting family in Key Biscayne, Florida a friend recommended NARBONA (on the island) for dinner. Whoah what a lovely intimate restaurant with an outstanding menu. I can’t say enough of the excellent service provided by Emilio Vega our waiter. He was spot on taking care of us and the other tables without skipping a beat. The wine selection was absolutely fantastic. We started with Burrata and the roasted Beets; fabulous. Our meals were simply spectacular; Branzino, Vacio (Flap Steak for 2), Frutti de mare, and Milanese. Everyone was delighted. This is definitely a must come back - so do not miss it if in Key Biscayne, Miami.

This restaurant is truly magical. The food is absolutely delicious, every dish was full of flavor and beautifully prepared. The service was outstanding; Raúl is an exceptional server: attentive, kind, and incredibly professional. He made the entire experience even more special. There are absolutely no complaints about this place. Highly recommended, and I can’t wait to come back.

It was a great experiece again second time here, try the same dishes. You can with a twistThe staff was great.Good service will repeat again.Enjoyed my lunch Indoor. Too bad they let a party of 3 smoke cigars outside. Besides us there was another couple and a single lady went inside to eat.

Two Locations, Two Very Different Experiences This morning, we visited Narbona in Coconut Grove and had a wonderful start to our day. We ordered two lattes and a cake to pick up later this week. The service was excellent—friendly and attentive. A lovely staff member took the time to walk us through their dessert selection, which made us excited to come back and try more. Feeling inspired, we decided to drive over to Narbona in Key Biscayne for lunch. Unfortunately, it was a completely different experience. Upon walking in, the space echoed with noise, and a loud table of guests made it hard to settle in. We moved to the back room for some quiet and hoped for better. While the food was good, the service was disappointing. We waited a long time for someone to check in so we could order dessert—we were especially looking forward to the pistachio cheesecake and an espresso after loving our lattes earlier. But no one ever returned to our table. In the end, we had to seek someone out just to pay, and we left feeling frustrated and unseen. Coconut Grove Narbona — absolutely coming back! Key Biscayne Narbona — unfortunately, not again

Definitely one of our favorite restaurants in Miami!!! The atmosphere, the food the music and the staff were incredible! Definitely try the picanha and mushroom pappardelle, you won’t regret it and also ask for Raul, the best server that you can find for sure in Miami!

We celebrated my daughter’s birthday at this restaurant, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff made the night feel truly special. A special thank-you to Ricardo, and Nicole who was exceptionally nice and polite throughout the evening. He was attentive without being intrusive, and he made sure everything went perfectly for our celebration. His kindness added an extra touch to a memorable night. Highly recommend this place for any special occasion!

Could be better! Their ice cream location is a plus 100000 but the restaurant itself was not impressive.

Yelp
This place is a gem in Key Biscayne! Came here for brunch and really enjoyed the place. Nice ambiance; food and service were both great. Recommend if you are looking to get out of Miami city area for a more relaxed experience.

Yelp
This place is a gem nestled in Key Biscayne. Crowd is upscale. The service is superb, ambiance is quiet, classy, and subdued. The food is out of this world. I will be back.

Yelp
Came here with a few college buddies without a reservation after seeing the strong reviews, but unfortunately, our experience didn't quite live up to the hype. The restaurant has a nice ambiance, but we were seated right next to the bathroom--even though the place was nearly empty, which felt like an odd choice. Service was lackluster throughout the night; we had a hard time getting the attention of the staff, and overall it just didn't feel very welcoming. We ordered a few pasta dishes, which were just okay. One thing that stood out (in a disappointing way) was that they showcased all these impressive cheese wheels on display, but when it came time to add cheese to our dishes, they brought out a plate of pre-grated cheese--not fresh from the wheel as we expected. Definitely a letdown. That said, the desserts were fantastic and easily the highlight of the meal. I'd consider coming back just for those. Overall, Norbana has potential, but the service and food presentation need some work to match the elevated vibe they seem to be going for.

Yelp
We will give this place another chance, but I will tell you about our two experiences so far. I try to only reviews if I have something good to say, but I have been thinking about this for a couple of days and it is bothering me a little bit. The place is beautiful. We made a reservation for six of us for 7:30 PM specifying indoors. They could only seat us outdoors, but since there were outdoor heaters, we agreed and it was fine and enjoyable. All of us enjoyed our meals. This is really not about the food, but about the política del restorán. The first thing was the waiter gave my wife a hard time about the temperature of her steak she was ordering. She said she would like it medium pink or "medium plus" but no dripping blood. He said medium would be "bloody". Then he shocked our group by saying if it's not medium with blood, it will be cooked all the way through medium well. As it turned out, it came out fine, but we didn't really appreciate getting an argument right off the bat. One of us got milanesa. We asked for a fried egg on top (as is the option everywhere) and were refused. He said flatly that the chef has no eggs. One of the items on the dinner menu is the chivito which carries a fried egg! The reason we eat milanesa with fried egg is because it moistens the plate because milanesa alone can be dry, which this was, but still tasty. As I said, our problem was with the service, which was a very regimented and unyielding with no effort at all in the interest of the customer. This is a good little restaurant, but not a world class chuchi Michelín restaurant of 5 stars in Paris, France where one knows ahead of time the Cordon Bleu chefs (and waiters) could be expected to be a little snobby. Here, I don't know why they cannot accommodate a customer's request especially where it is such a simple request for exactly one egg. It does no good to get into it with a customer about meat temperature either. It was embarrassing. Having said that, our $640 dinner was overall enjoyable, and we had a pleasant evening (other than the lacking service). Given that it was our first time there and that perhaps it was just an off night for the server, we tipped 25%. We noticed that they do breakfast which looked very delicious online so we made plans to meet there the next morning for breakfast. We all got ready and showed up at 10:30 as their website says they do breakfast until 11:30. We were seated and handed lunch menus, and stated that we hadn't had our coffee yet and we were looking to get the breakfast. The answer came. No. We were told they do not serve breakfast --only on the weekend they have brunch. I have no idea what this was all about, perhaps their website needs to be updated, but they very firmly refused us breakfast (by the way, we were the only patrons in the restaurant). We left very confused, because we are not really sure if it is true they do not serve breakfast during the week.

Yelp
Our server, Florencia, was very understanding and knowledgeable of my wife's dietary needs. My wife is Celiac, she's gluten intolerant. Florencia recommended the perfect dish for her, and mine as well. The ambiance is excellent. The service was exceptional. We had a wonderful experience at Narbona and will definitely return.

Yelp
Prelude: This review veers wildly between the word "Uruguayan" and "Argentinian". It will all make sense at the end. * * * I think I am madly in love with Uruguayan food. I have now been on three eating trips, to Queens, to Buenos Aires and to Miami. On all three trips, the Uruguayan restaurant was the clear top of the pack. Narbona is a first rate Uruguayan restaurant. That means it is damm damm damm damm good. * * * Narbona is like bodegones in Argentina ... It has a very full menu restaurant. The number of menu items is not extraordinary at least by Cuban standards. But what they have is highly varied indeed. Yes they have steaks if you want steaks. Yes they have chivitos, if you want the official Uruguayan national sandwich. (This is a massively massively overstuffed sandwich with steak and six million other ingredients. It is enough food to feed you for a week.) They have salads and vegetarian fare. They have empanadas. * * * There is nothing more Southern Cone than pizza. Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina all have better pizza than does the United States. Brazilian pizzas are intentionally weird - with distinctive tart cheeses, tons of capers and an avoidance of tomatoes unless you insist. Uruguay and Argentina make pizza more like what we are used to ... But no canned tomato "pizza" sauce makes it into their kitchen. Neither do canned black olives. Their vegetables are way better than our vegetables - making their pizza pretty spectacular. * * * Narbona does a stellar Uruguayan pizza. I did an all vegetable version with cherry tomatoes and superfine olives. I was in pizza heaven. * * * The rest of the table ordered from other parts of the menu and were just as happy. I don't remember what everyone else had - but I do remember the empanadas were absolutely impressive. We did not order dessert - but I did grab a look at the dessert case. Just on the basis of looks - that dessert case was totally irresistable. * * * Frankly, given the variety of food that is available, I don't think one pizza tells the story at all. But I had that feeling about every bodegon I ate at in Argentina. No matter how good my one particular plate was, There were 138 more that I really really wanted to try. * * * I DO get back to Miami with some regularity though. Narbona is now an official mandatory stop. Do the Uruguayans do Argentine food better than the Argentines do? If Narbona in Key Biscayne, El Chivito d'Oro in Jackson Heights and El Pobre Luis in Buenos Aires are representative examples, The answer to that question is clearly yes.

Yelp
Oh man Narbona. What I had from Narbona was the ice cream. They make their own ice cream and wow how amazing was it?! Truly Amazing. I was honestly surprised by the quality, the portion, the detail, everything. Worth every penny. I was planning on coming back but it didnt end up happening. But I know where I will be going next time I come to Key Biscayne. The people very nice, the ice cream chef from what it seems was really nice. He stopped the lady from serving us so we could wait and see other options he was going to bring out. I had the vanilla scoop and the cherry scoop, I loved that little garnish cracker. The cups were beautiful, the details, the design of entire little location. loved it.

Yelp
Came here to celebrate my parents birthday. They were both born on the same day six years apart. The Uruguayan food was fantastic and the outdoor setting was great. The service was great as well. If you are in Key Biscayne this has to be on your list of restaurants to try.

Yelp
Narbona is in the heart of cocowalk. A classic Modern Italian style restaurant with a small market feel. We stopped in to see what the buzz was all about. On a Saturday evening the location was buzzing and busy at every angle. It was loud inside so we elected to sit outside which were located just in front of the front entrance which made for a more peaceful and cozy place to sit as we enjoyed the foot traffic of cocowalk. We ordered a glass of wine, Cabernet and Pinot Grigio which had a smooth finish and some delicious burrata as an appetizer. The burrata was very good with prosciutto that was tasty drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette. Overall it was a nice experience as we ordered tapas and wine. If you're looking for a quieter atmosphere I'd suggest elsewhere but Narbona is in a very lively location with potential to do very well as long as it continues to invest in great service. As for positive feedback, the rear entrance from the parking garage was fully visible to the dining area. Just as suggestion for aesthetics, a privacy wall or plants could be a nice addition to make it more of an experience to those seated inside and those walking in from the rear.

Yelp
I've visited Narbona twice over the past few weeks. 5 of us came here for dinner on a Tuesday night, and then my husband and I returned for dinner the following Sunday. During both visits we enjoyed the small "courtyard" area as you first enter, as it feels like you're indoors, but it's actually open air and our dog was welcome. The potted cacti along the upper section of the walls is an interesting touch. The strongest point for this restaurant is that they have some really solid quality wines, and the markup isn't much above what you'd pay in a retail wine store. That's extraordinary, as most restaurants charge a significant markup on wines. Service was also quite good during both our visits here. Why this restaurant only gets 4 stars for "good" is that all the foods I've had here, aside from the dulche de leche lava cake, which was excellent, were just average. When we came here with a group of 5 we shared the calamari appetizer. The rings were quite large and it appeared they were only fried for a short time as the breading wasn't browned at all. They were served with marinara sauce, but so many restaurants now serve calamari with more unique and flavorful sauces, that the plain marinara here at Narbona seems lacking. On our most recent visit we shared the charcuterie board and it was just OK. One of the meats was very heavily processed and tasted like bologna and we didn't eat more than a bite or two and left the rest. My main course during our first visit was the Ahi Tuna. It came with avocado, tomatoes and vegetables. It was very good and the tuna was cooked perfectly, but it could have used something more - maybe just a small bit of Asian noodles, to make it a little more substantial. Most recently I had the homemade spinach and ricotta ravioli. First, there were only a few raviolis so the dish wasn't filling at all, but also, it was served with just a drizzle of butter but no real "sauce" at all, which again, made it feel it was lacking something.

KL B.

Yelp
Beautiful little outdoor patio. However, they were a little bit snooty because we didn't have a reservation. But that's ok. It started off with really, really good bread. We thought that was a great sign. However, the food is just OK. I asked for risotto with light mushrooms. I actually think they may have put extra mushrooms in it. She never came back to ask us how our food was so I assumed she knew it wouldn't be good. Both dishes were just ok. Would not return, unfortunately.

Tuli S.

Yelp
The food is great here! Service was off but since the food was so good it's still a 5. We didn't have a reservation but were seated immediately on a Tuesday. The place was packed so clearly people like it. We had the provoleta, salmon, pasta, and the chivito sandwich. All were amazing. The star was definitely the pasta and the chivito sandwich. The salmon was good but extremely standard. The provoleta was a very fun app to share, highly recommend. We also got chicken empanadas to go and they were SO GOOD. Definitely recommend for a date night or group dinner. It's pricey but worth it!

Yelp
Incredible!!!!! With a short stay in key Biscayne, we were so glad we chose Narbona for a lovely dinner Al fresco. Such a gorgeous patio! This was the only place we visited where the staff was NOT on their phone!!! We got two pastas- both delicious, the caramel crepes- still dreaming about those, and a flan- was too stuffed to finish it haha! Would definitely be my ONLY recommendation if visiting the area.

Yelp
This is my favorite restaurant in Key Biscayne. I shared the entraña with a side of grilled asparagus and it was spectacular. The entraña was super juicy and had a lot of flavor, I absolutely loved it and highly recommend. Next time I go I would like to get either the Filet Mignon that looked delicious from far or one of their pastas which apparently are very famous. We paired dinner with some good Argentinian wine "El Enemigo". It was the perfect combination. Definitely will buy this wine again. The waiter was super nice, she said that was one of her favorite wines and she always made sure we had our cups filled. I went for dinner on a summer night and sat outside, and it was so pleasant because they had big fans and the music wasn't too loud. I would come here for dinner more than lunch just because at lunch it might be too hot on the patio and inside was a little loud with all the echo of conversations.

Thais O.

Yelp
Really great pasta and short rib dishes. The Parmesan cream tasted authentic and size was great. The outside patio was beautiful! There's even a market inside with goodies and perfect gift options.

Yelp
very nice place in Key Biscayne. went for brunch for my birthday and we were running a couple minutes behind the brunch cut off time and they let us still order from that menu which was very kind. we sat outside and I ordered the bao bun eggs benedict and iced vanilla latte, which I had been wanting to try their bao benedict. we also ordered the french toast, the omelet, the mussels in red sauce from the lunch menu, and the two eggs platter and potatoes on the side. I loved the bao benedict and the bread they brought for our table. the iced vanilla latte was ok and the potatoes weren't my favorite, not the best i've had. we shared the french toast and everyone loved it! I didn't try the two egg dishes but I did try the mussels and they were very good! we used the bread to dip in the mussel sauce as well. the staff were very kind. overall had a great experience for a little breakfast/brunch for my birthday.

Yelp
We feasted on the "Narbona Experience" with wine pairings: charcuterie board with their in-house cheeses, prosciutto and salamis, vitello tonnato, fried artichokes, stuffed zuccini blossoms, two different types of empanadas, fresh pappardelle with black truffle & mushrooms, porcini mushroom risotto, steak & frites, gnocci, homemade gelato, and finished it off with that glorious dulce de leche tower. It was amazing!!! Special thanks to Maria for her professionalism, kindness and always great attitude to accommodate any request for the group.

Yelp
Great little spot on the Key, the beet salad is my favorite! I wish the menu was a little more creative with more options but what they offer is quality ingredients. The staff are friendly, the restaurant is clean, service is good and it's a nice spot to enjoy lunch or brunch with friends. Great addition to the island.

Yelp
Went to Narbona Key Biscayne with my family and some friends for Sunday brunch today. The whole experience from beginning to end was A+! The hostess was very friendly and welcoming and got us a great table. We started off with some Bellinis and had a delicious appetizer they had for the day, Brie cheese with figs, amazing! Got the opportunity to meet the Executive Chef, Ariel and he told us all about their menu and dishes. I went with one of his recommendations, the vuelve a la vida croissant. Just what I needed today after having a few drinks last night lol. We also tried a couple of their desserts, pistacho ice cream and a classic crepe with dulce de leche and ice cream. Very yummy! Totally recommended and will come back to try the rest of their menu soon.

Yelp
Took my dad here on a father daughter breakfast date on a Thursday morning and it was absolutely lovely. My waitress was super sweet and informative and above all attentive. We ordered each ordered the Narbona eggs with bacon ofcourse and then shared a latte because he has to be cautious with his caffeine intake. The bacon was perfectly crisp, probably the best I've had in a long time and we both loved the thick toast that accompanied the egg dish. As soon as we left my dad called my mom and told her he is bringing her to Narbona because he knows she'll also love it. Definitely coming back!

Arturo M.

Yelp
The place was almost empty (2:30 pm), but for 5 or 6 people in the bar and two small tables ( for 2 each)... all the other 20 odd tables empty... but they will not serve you coffee in those! they are for... lunch only!!!!... nobody made an effort to try anything... pathetic level of service... we had a great cup of coffee at Muster 01, a pizzería across the yard...

Yelp
The only reason that I gave it a two because the non speaking waitress was help. Other treat me like I am someone who just took up space. She would bring out bread to an older couples that is rich or can speak Spanish. Whatever.. she had to prevent to start pay attention to me when I yell out loud where is my bread and are you going to serves me. Maybe I was not good enough customer. Gotcha. Wow.

Yelp
My new favorite place in Key Biscayne ! The breakfast was delicious and the service was great. This is a new location in The Square Mall. Not only is it a restaurant, but it is also a market/food mart. The concept is awesome! The decorations are super nice and the vibe is chill. The owner was welcoming and super nice. Definitely recommend !

Yelp
Flying into Miami International Airport (MIA) and then going to Key Biscayne I wanted to make a reservation at a restaurant on the Key not to have to drive off it again for a late dinner. My plane was scheduled to arrive at 5:30 so I made the reservation for 8 for a party of 3. Well, the flight was about 30 minutes late and MIA is let's just say not a quick exit type airport. From the time I deplaned, got my luggage and then walked what seemed like a mile to the tram to get me to the Car Rental Center and get the rental it was close to two hours. I had to repeatedly call Narbona to change my reservation time and with these phone calls I knew I was in for a special dinner. The young lady who repeatedly answered my calls was so friendly and accommodating to my continued change of arrival time. We finally arrived around 8:45 PM we were warmly greeted and seated in a large outdoor covered patio area. Our wonderful dinner started with a Narbona pizza (fresh mozzarella, stuffed with stracciatella and covered with onions) that was a little different from the Neapolitan or NY style pizza but very tasty and well worth a try. My son selected a nice bottle of Cab that was only $30 and for our main entree he had the Ahi tuna (sesame seed crust tuna, avocado and tomato salad with a touch of citrus soy sauce) while I had the Grilled Branzino (fresh mediterranean Seabass with slices of lemon fresh vegetables and potatoes) and my son's girlfriend (not being to hungry) had the Beet and Goat Cheese salad. We all said that each bite of our selection was amazing and the portion size larger than we anticipated. We ended our dinner with a Narbona Crépes and a scoop of ice cream, a perfect way to end a perfect meal. Our server Thomas was so nice and his service to our table was in checking on us during our dinner was spot on and not overbearing. Narbona also has a market that you can select fine items to take home with you. Only open from what I was told 3 months, this is going to be a long standing and excellent addition to the restaurants on Key Biscayne.

Yelp
Narbona is great! We took our mothers for Mother's Day and the details to make them feel special was amazing. Each mother received a rose and a special picture taken. Food was great as usual!

Yelp
A truly amazing new spot that took over where Puntino pizzeria used to be. Though we've only been for takeout so far, the bustling interior and market is gorgeous and it's clear that this is becoming a new Key Biscayne mainstay. Their empanadas are delicious, and as we waited in the market we saw incredible dishes from the kitchen pass us by that made us hungrier and hungrier. I'm looking forward to coming back again and again.

Yelp
We had dinner at this restaurant and it was great. Had the empanada trio which could serve as a main dish -- there was ham and cheese, beef and spinach, all excellent. The tuna poke bowl was nice and done well. For mains, we had the pizza which had a nice crust, the tirita de asada, a real stand out and the grilled branzino which was seasoned just right. Overall, a wonderful meal!

Yelp
Narbona has outstanding food, wine and service! All at a reasonable price. Everything we ordered was exceptional! I should have taken pics of the cheese tray and crepes! Both were terrific as well as the pizza, ravioli and the hamburger and steak sandwich!

Yelp
Had the ravioli and it was delicious. Hubby enjoyed his Bronzino. The oyster shots are made with tequila; I would have preferred a more authentic recipe made with vodka. Overall, food, drinks, music and service were great!!

Yelp
We'd been to Narbona KB a half-dozen times and, for the most part, had left with a good impression of the food, service, and ambiance. Last night was different. Fourteen (sixteen, counting two children) of us were celebrating the matriarch's 96th. b'day; we chose to dine indoors because the patio was too warm. Little did we know that the AC was down in this area of the restaurant, but we were not told until the room became uncomfortably warm. Some in our group were perspiring. As it turns out, management knew of the problem but had not alerted us or offered an alternative. Despite an adjustment to the meager AC available that mitigated the heat somewhat, we had an awfully uncomfortable dinner. Alas, the food turned out to be inferior than on previous visits. Several of us ordered the Ahi Tuna dish, which we remembered as outstanding. This time, the portion was laughably small. It had been offered to one of us with a baked potato, then came with fingerling potatoes that filled the dish so as to conceal the shrunken tuna steak. Others enjoyed their food, for example, a tenderloin filet. But overall, the food was not up to the standards Narbona had set during previous visits. Along with the too-warm space, the experience left a lot to be desired.

Yelp
I ordered the octopus and I felt it was tough and totally under cooked. I sent it back. Then I ordered the beef filet and it was very tasteless and tough! So needless to say I will never come back to this restaurant ever again. The service was okay!!

Yelp
Great new addition to restaurant scene in Boca. Food was great, service was maybe a little too attentive, but they are working out the kinks. Was there on a very busy Friday night. Had the skirt steak--perfect. Friend had mussels and sushi. She said very good. Enjoyed the wine. Will be going back to have other options on menu which look yummy.

Yelp
The layout of the place is very nice and there's plenty of interesting things to look at whether it is the cactus wall outside or the interesting wall of goods for sale inside. I will say the one roasted vegetable dish was delightful and I would order that again. The empanadas were good as was the pasta dish I ordered but they were just baseline good, not exceptional. The tuna tartare had some tough chunks of tissue in it and the sauce it was in tasted like it was a ponzu or teriyaki which was not what I was expecting, I wouldn't order it a second time. The service wasn't the best and I was pretty disappointed when I opened my silverware to see a big mouth smear on the napkin already. Quite a few of the food products on the shelves were expired as well which I noticed after I purchased something and had to exchange it. Finally at the end of the meal after we sat there for a bit finishing our drinks and waiting for our Uber just as we are about to get in the car our waitress ran out and told us she gave us the wrong check initially and then didn't really offer any resolution besides us giving her 10$ cash on our way out to the parking lot. I probably will not be returning.

Yelp
Food is ok, not excellent. Service is not good . I went 4 times and there is always something on the menu that is not available. I guess that they have clients because in KB you do not have many options.

Yelp
The spot at KB Sunday brunch a must. Excellent food and service. Been here at night, great ambiance

Yelp
I was there for lunch today and the mussels I ordered as starter were not fresh, they had chewy texture. The entrée I ordered was a medium rare Skirt Stake (churrasco de entraña) ... I got a different steak that wasn't definitely a Skirt Steak and it was "medium well". The wine and the coffee were good

Yelp
We came here twice during our 4 day stay in Key Biscayne! The food was so spectacular - Branzino, specialty pizza, Burrata and ceviche were delicious . The fried provolone appetizer was amazing. The restaurant itself is new, sparkling clean and has a hip vibe. The servers could not have been friendlier or more helpful. LOVE LOVE this restaurant!
