A ‘Game of Thrones’ Pop-Up Bar Will Open in Downtown Houston - Eater Houston

"Winter is coming, Houston, in the form of yet another pop-up bar themed after a pop culture juggernaut. This time around, it’s HBO’s Game of Thrones. Just in time for the start of hurricane season and Houston’s sweatiest months, a new pop-up called Haus of Thrones will bring the wild world of Westeros to 505 Main Street. Per a press release, the pop-up will occupy a 10,000-square-foot multi-level set meant to take drinkers back to the epic series inspired by George R.R. Martin’s fantasy novels. Set to open on July 1, the pop up will last about four weeks. Haus of Thrones is the work of Asha Holloway, an experiential marketer and the creator of previous Houston pop-ups including those inspired by The Office and Harry Potter. Haus of Thrones looks to be Holloway’s most ambitious pop-up yet, with interactive sections designed to look like iconic Game of Thrones locations, including King’s Landing, The Infamous Wall of the Nights Watch, and Winterfell. Throughout the pop-up’s run, Haus of Thrones will offer weekly game nights with life-sized game pieces, costume contests, trivia and more. Holloway is also offering a few special packages for this pop-up, including a “Bus of Thrones” pre-party experience, in which guests can rent a GOT party bus to cruise around Downtown, complete with music from the television series, a Haus of Thrones t-shirt, and VIP entry to the pop-up. Tickets for the pop-up are already on sale, with timed entry, starting at $20. Food, drinks, and merchandise are sold separately. No word on what the menu will include, but here’s hoping that it’s more satisfying that the show’s finale." - Brittanie Shey

I had a very disappointing and concerning experience at this place. Upon arrival, a security guard assured us the venue was worth entering and charged us a $20 entrance fee. We later found out he wasn’t authorized to charge anyone—he was keeping the money for himself. Inside, there was a physical altercation happening as we walked in, and the atmosphere felt extremely uncomfortable and unsafe. We stayed less than two minutes before deciding to leave. While most of our money was refunded, the $20 taken by the guard was not returned. When confronted, he became defensive and acted as though we were wrong for asking. Even more troubling, the guard smelled strongly of alcohol and appeared to be drinking while on duty, despite carrying a firearm. That’s a serious safety concern. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The management needs to take accountability for the kind of staff they employ—especially when it comes to security. This experience was completely unacceptable.

Nice place, it wasn't packed when we went. You get free booths, no fee to get in. Drinks were really good. Great music.

Got charged $46 for 2 Michelob Ultra beers and 1 Don Julio with cranberry. I couldn't believe it. They said the beers were $10 each and the drink was $18, plus tax and gratuity. WOW! I'll never be back.

Horrible staff, HORRIBLE SECURITY GUARD! I ain’t one to start arguing but security man handled one of the girls I with and the “bouncer” had said we can look inside to see if it’s worth it but security had a HUGE power trip. Yanked and pushed my friend and then commented about our bodies. And the other “men” were there laughing. Staff is horrible! Save yalls money and time from going there. I would add the video but I don’t know if it’ll get blocked.

Drinks and service were better than we could have imagined. In addition, hookah was tasteful, and coal was burning exceptionally well. The clubs vibe is great and has the potential to outperform the competition around that area, making this a great club for a chill yet party environment!

Great experience. No cover, free booths. No crowd. Drinks were good. Hookah was amazing and they kept up with the coals! Service was A1! Waitresses are amazing. If you’re looking for a crowd, this isn’t it but if you’re tryna vibe and have good service and good DJ, this is it!
