This is my go-to spot and I frequent it rather often. I love the food and the service is usually awesome. My last visit was not that, though.
The woman at the desk taking orders brought her child with her today, allowing her child to run around and talk to customers. I understand a lot of people are okay with that, but when the little girl eventually ran over to my booth, I was uncomfortable. I like to eat alone in peace.
For context, I'm diabetic. I have to take insulin shots before I eat. The little girl starts rapid firing questions about why I'm taking a shot, why I didn't do it at home, what's the medicine I'm taking, etc.. I'm patient with her and give simple answers. I look to the mom as if to say "help me". Her mother laughs and just goes to the back. Her child is still interrogating me. She asks why I have a soda, why I have acne, if I'm sick (regarding the diabetes). At some point I finish dialing the insulin shot and go to actually inject it before her daughter covers her eyes, runs away while yelling "No! I can't watch this!" before running up to her mom and loudly exclaiming I'm taking a shot. Mind you, there's only 3 other people in the restaurant, but they can all hear it and I'm extremely embarrassed.
Eventually I get up to ask for my food to-go instead of dining in. I receive it and the mother doesn't even apologize to me when I was visibly extremely uncomfortable the whole time. I didn't want to say that to her in front of her child; it's not the poor kid's fault, but the lack of professionalism and self-awareness regarding her own child is insane to me. Speaking from experience, working in a restaurant carrying hot food with little ones running about is actually really dangerous, too.
Honestly, I'm still upset. I love this place, but I'm really disappointed.
