Nash and Proper HQ

With the COVID-19 situation, I haven't had much opportunity to sample the local fare here in Sacramento. When a coworker offered to order lunch from Nash & Proper for the day, I knew I couldn't pass up the chance! Their website lists their hours, locations, and menu options. I highly recommend ordering online (note- you're limited to 6 items!). After you've placed your order they'll give you an estimated time when your food's ready; they'll place the your order on a table for contact-less pickup! The process is very smooth and hassle-free! I ordered The Sammich, which consists of a crispy fried boneless thigh on a butter bun with slaw, and a side of their crinkle fries. You can decide on the level of spiciness you want, since I'm not a huge fan of spice so I went with their Naked option. When I opened my container the first thing that struck me was the size- the sandwich is huge! With the first bite I knew I was a fan. The chicken is cooked to perfection, crispy and flavorful. The sandwich was so filling that I couldn't even finish it in one sitting! But hey, that means I get to enjoy this meal for a second time later today. Nash & Proper makes some of the best fried chicken I've ever had, but don't take my word for it- check it out yourself!

I had their sandwich and half chicken. It was great. But never again in my life will I ever try Cluckin Hot again, it was like lava in my stomach. 🤣🤣

Did the online order pick up for the Natomas location. Got the sammich level of hot and their seasoned fries. The spiciness was perfect. I'll have to try the clucking hot next time. The chicken was well seasoned with flavor and juicy. I added a little bit more of the fuego sauce to my sammich which brought more flavor out. There was a crunch to every bite and yet the chicken was not overcooked or dry.

Enjoyed a fried chicken sandwich from their food truck at SacYard tap house. Sandwich was good, a little messy... would be nice if they pounded out the chicken breast. It was pretty thick in some spots. I tried some of their crispy crinkle cut fries as well, delicious!

Juicy n' hot. With tears to prove it... Fried cauliflower also well done. Devoured it too quick for a "before" pic. I got the Hot+ option but the seasoning seemed a bit uneven, was quite mild at first. And the Mild+ cauliflowers were comparable in heat. So maybe stick with the "naked" option if you are at all sensitive.

I work near this place and always see the food truck driving down Northgate Blvd so when I saw they were at Aftershock I thought I should give them a try. I ordered a not hot chicken sandwich which was prepared somewhat quick but they had just gotten power back to the truck so they get a pass for that. After finding a place to sit I started eating the sandwich only to find it was the hot sandwich which is not what I ordered. The hot sauce on the fried chicken had almost no flavor except for a strong vinegar taste. Although the sandwich itself wasn’t that bad, the price along with getting my order wrong is just something I can’t justify. 3.5/5.

I got the mild chicken sandwich and it was amazing! I think the mild is perfect for those who like some spice but still want to enjoy the food. My bf got the mild plus and he was really spiced up towards the end but nonetheless he loved the flavor! The chicken itself is crunchy AND juicy! Plus the portions are good. However the fries weren’t as flavorful or crunchy.

Driving down Northgate Blvd at lunch time and pulled in on a whim. So glad I did! The sandwich looked exactly like the pictures - beautiful. It tasted even better. The cool pickles and slaw offset the heat of a perfectly juicy chicken. I ordered mild because I wasn't sure how hot Nash & Proper hot and I was surprised. It is a subtle heat that doesn't kick, but lingers just enough to let you know you want another bite. The Crinkle cut fries were crispy and seasoned in perfect compliment to the sandwich. Next time - there MOST DEFINATELY be a next time - I will try a higher heat.
