First time trying this famous food. They said 15min wait but served in 5min which was nice. The chicken isn't hot despite the heavy customer flow, which suggests they cook in bulk and set aside. It's 7.6$ which isn't cheap but reasonable for the huge piece of chicken. The chicken is extremely tender and can be easily torn apart with the plastic cutlery they provided. It has a subtle char grilled flavour though I wouldn't mind even more of it. The marinade is nice but doesn't really penetrate the chicken much, so the meat inside doesn't have much flavour. The skin is the sloppy type, which isn't great for a grilled chicken. Both sambals are quite sweet and surprisingly, they barely have any spice despite the look of it. As a Malaysian, this might be the least spicy sambal I've ever tasted, even less spicy than Maggi Curry, probably to cater to Singaporean taste. It pairs fine with rice but a more complex flavour instead of just so much sweetness would've been better. Rice is decent, peanut and anchovy are okay but could be more fragrant. The egg yolk is runny which is nice. Overall, it's worth a try as the chicken is different from the typical ones. The grilled chicken definitely has rooms for improvement. The sambal is a bit underwhelming. It just doesn't really reach Malaysia standard.

2025 update: This is upsetting saw an online post criticizing them and thought of trying the main branch... While it wasn't that bad, but the overall decrease is just so much that doesn't justify the increase in price to $7.60. Feels like they are cutting corner somewhere. Lower quality chicken or ikan bilis and peanut? Again no char taste from chicken and this time it was dry and no tender at all. The only saving grace was the sauce is still consistent, hot and spicy. Shiok. But i think they increased the msg... so thirsty after eating. I am no a hater of msg but i don't remember being so thirsty after eating it last time. Rice was also fragrance and sweet. However the peanut and ikan bilis was so bad I don't know how their quality deproved so much. These peanut just makes my headache chewing on them. The muscles in my tempo is in pain after all this. Very disappointing 2023 update: Not consistent chicken was dry and doesn't have that grill char taste. But at least price is the cheapest ~~~~~~ Got their signature ayam taliwang lemak for $6.90. 10min from queue till seated. Godly : taste of chicken! You get the unique bbq char of chicken for this. While it might be on the dryer side but is still juicy. Pros : chili! Barely survived without drinks. Immediately went to find sugar cane after that. Was quite impressed that I survived. The spicy level piles up I guess. Egg white was more elegantly done, mostly smooth with no rough edges. Initially I thought the rice was too sticky but it was all well after mixing in the sambal chili. Cons : ikan bilis was pretty salty can cut it just some bit. Area for improvement : the chicken thigh is actually not the most tender. Not sure how since it is bbq but nevertheless they still comes off the bone easily just that you can feel in your tongue that the thigh is a the slightly tougher side akin to chicken breast. Question : why is this stated as LGBTQ friendly in Google map?

Greeted with the best smile and reason for returning back here again and again with the favorite nasi lemak! Must try the other choices, too!

Overall I am satisfied with the portion and the taste of the nasi lemak. Flavorful rice, savoury sambal and crispy chicken wings and crumchy anchovies with peanut and a sunny side egg and the taste was consistent over the years. Service was quick and staffs were friendly. Many empty seats for families since its a weekday so its not crowded. Will always come here again to support whenever I'm here👌

The food tastes good, but the quality of the grilled chicken and ikan billis (anchovies) used left much to be desired. Regarding the chicken while it was grilled well, the establishment probably used old chicken or a frozen one kept in the chiller/freezer for too long - the bones and flesh were purple in-colour. Similarly, I think the ikan billis were not fried at the stall, but factory produced, because they were dry and very hard to bite into. I would have given 2.5 stars but given that I can't do that, I have 3 stars.

Both fried chicken wings and ayam taliwang set are above expectation, the best i had by far. Ayam taliwang had smokey flavour and excellent texture, well marinated, and fall off bone. The chilli compliment it was on point too. My daughter had the fried chicken wings set and she kept giving me thumps up. I think they have many outlets, but dunno if the standard will be the same. Will try the hougang branch next time.

Nasi lemak was okay. The chicken leg was a little dry but very good sambal.
